I agree that there should be an option to not display them -- this would be in keeping with the UI having significant control over what shows and what doesn't, since some computers would probably struggle applying filters and some monitors might not be able to differentiate certain filters well. So yes, I agree with the option to disable.

I would be totally fine with it being a temporary event-based competition. I hesitate with suggesting it that way only because the devs in the past have mentioned a desire to move away from any extensive development that can only be used for a short period of the year. Mind you, that may have changed or they may be at a point where they could support the addition of more events...
Perhaps they could do a two week CoHOlympics and end it (or start it) with one of the double-xp weekends... sort of like the opening or closing ceremony. -
I have been petitioning for the ability to elect to disable incoming email for a long looooong time. I have no use for in-game email. At this point, it attracts so much spam that if someone I knew in game did send me an email, they'd just get reported for spam by mistake since I just start at the first email and hit the "report spam" button until all the emails disappear. I don't bother to read them. I never will. Better by far to give me the option to simply disable them.
It would be different if you cuold mail items or influence to other characters, then I would say to autodisable mail for trial accounts and go from there, but in-game email seems like a rather pointless feature as it stands. -

I have a suggestion from a while bakc that I was fond of
Boomtown
The clockwork castle.
The clockwork king has been busy and has built a castle in north boomtown. The area can be a point for story arcs about containign its developments and breakign in the smack some heads. Plus A king needs a castle.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, an animated clockwork town/castle area would just be so full of win I would have to visit the zone for hours on end. It'd be like "Small World" but totally evil and full of sadistic robots. Two thumbs up on this one. -
I was reading in another MA ideas thread where someone suggested a film-noir style map set. Instead, I thought it might be cool to be able to have certain visual filters unlockable that could be applied to missions such as the beginnings and endings of flashback missions when when everything is tinted bronze.
There could be grayscale, film noir (grayscale with a slightly higher contrast ratio heavy on shadows -- might be really good for ghost-type arcs, etc), muted color, negative, high saturation, nightvision, ultraviolet (where whites seem to glow, etc)...
If anyone can think of others, please throw them in.
(I didn't include infrared because it wouldn't really be a filter since to be useful, the code would have to identify which critters and objects actually gave off heat, etc. While it would be visually cool and could even lead to a super power that allows you to track down that one sprocket hidiing behind the wall of crates, I don't see it as a very practical suggestion sadly.)

Ok, while mucking about in Cimerora on my dominator, I came up with something I think might be fun even if only for an annual event:
CoH Olympics
Picking up on a theme from people who like the Big Red Ball idea and all that, this would basically be a dedicated area (sort of like the ski jump) where heroes and villains could gain temporary powers in order to perform certain tasks and earn badges accordingly. Some examples might be:
1. TK Toss: Based on powers such as telekinetic thrust that would allow you to fling your opponent off a high location. Furthest distance tossed earns an badge. (Based on my dominator liking to throw people from the top of Aeon City)
2. Hostage Herding: Using a power similar to telekinesis, you move a struggling hostage/rescuee through an obstacle course. Fastest times earn badges. (Based on my dominator liking to telekinetic herd immunes surgeons up to Imperious so his men can kill them)
I know there are other ideas out there from other players. Feel free to toss them into the hat. -
Venture, I would welcome your review/feedback on my first arc: The Incursion (MArc#37783).... if you get time that is. Thanks in advance!
-
Sentinel or Infiltrator (Hero/Villain) for logging out in a PvP zone in a general area that isn't assigned to some other job.
-
I'm just going to throw something out there...
Perhaps give villains the chance to go back in time and sink the Ghost Ship's original version? That ties them into a heroside event. Could go so far as to save the names of villains who complete this story/arc/whatever and next time the ghost ship spawns, the ghosts could reference the villain(s) randomly. "I saw someone named GenericVillain000992 down near the engine room!"
Another idea might be to see an alternate world where Nemesis actually won and perhaps he's attempting to invade our world. It would be a blast to actually have to assist our Nemesis against the other, more powerful Nemesis, since I assume Nemesis is a bit of an egoist and wouldn't dare allow himself to be subjugated by anyone... even himself. Can you imagine a ticking brass clockwork version of Atlas Park? Maybe a similar brass style tower/castle replacing Grandville? (Funny thing is, in imagining the two, I keep hearing little children singing "It's a small world after all..." in the back of my head) Anyway, those are my thoughts.
But yeah, add my votes for Dark Astoria and anything involving the Shadow Shard. -

I wouldn't read too much into the "L" in "lost". Someone may have done that on accident since they use the cap version so much.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss that capital "L"... to quote Paragonwiki and their article on the Midnight Squad: "The Midnight Squad became a prime target for Rikti assassins, and the group's main headquarters was destroyed in a fusion bomb blast. Many of its more heroic sorcerers were captured in battle and are still missing to this day, presumed dead. "
We all know from the current arcs and the LGTF what the Rikti do to people they "capture". -
I do believe this is officially full of win.
And I12 was supposed to be the "small" issue leading up to I13? Man... I13 will be scary huge if this is "small"... -
Holy macarena... that's some excellent work. I am very impressed.

gripe and moan! New power sets are new power sets! Animations, and you can't step on BAB for doing all that work because YOU don't like the way they look. I for one am looking forward to them! You want light sabers, go to SWG! I hear they are so bad they are giving them away ^_~ Flames? Go play WoW, I hear thats the bandwagon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Go play another game because I was hoping for something a little more imaginative?
I can just imagine there conversation goes like this.
Developer 1. Lets give them something new.
Developer 2. How about a sword
Developer 1. No did that twice already.
Developer 2. How about 2 swords.
Developer 1. Great Idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe it was more like:
Developer 1: Let's give them something new.
Developer 2: I have a few ideas.
Developer 1: I have a few ideas.
Developer 2: Let's put it to the forum community for a vote.
Developer 1: Great idea!
Ex_Libris: *creates poll*
Community: *votes for Dual Blades*
Developer 2: The public wants Dual Blades!
Developer 1: Let's make the magic happen!
Developers: *make Dual Blades set*
Community: They suck! Make them better! We never wanted them in the first place!
Developers: *go into a corner and cry*
You all had a chance to vote. It passed. Dual Blades are coming in whatever manner the devs choose to make them happen. I, personally, voted for Psi Melee, but I was out-voted. Am I griping about Dual Blades? No. Why? Because I never plan to play them. Amazing how that works out. -
Zone Event/Monster Alert System
Originally suggested by: NovaFang
Category: Control Aux
Customizable? N
Type: Craftable; Beacons unlocked by badges
Description: This displays a graphic of Paragon City or the Rogue Islands broken down by zone. By attaching monster beacons (similar to teleport beacons) to the alert system, you can be alerted when specific monsters or zone events are in progress. The beacons are unlockable only if the respective monster has been defeated already by a SG member in SG mode (thus creating an SG equivalent of the badge; again, similar to the exploration badges unlocking teleport beacons). During an alert, the beacon and corresponding zone on the alert system would flash.
Statuary
Originally suggested by: NovaFang
Category: Decorative
Customizable? N
Type: Purchased; Possibly some crafted
Description: Purchase smaller versions of the iconic statues seen throughout Paragon and the Rogue Isles. It might even be possible to craft statues of the signature heroes/villains after achieving certain badges in SG mode.
Skylight/Glass Ceiling
Originally suggested by: NovaFang
Category: Room (High Ceiling)
Customizable? Y (Trim color; Glass tint)
Type: Free option
Description: Allows you to set the high ceiling to a see-through glass that looks up into open sky. The sky options would match Paragon's current time/weather or you might be able to select a sky that matches the Shadow Shard. It would not be possible to fly outside of the base, hence the reason this is a glass ceiling and not open air.
Limitations: This might need to override the upper lighting layer.
Natrual Decorations
Originally suggested by: NovaFang
Category: Decorations and Room options
Customizable? N
Type: Purchasable
Description: Wall ivy similar to the cable boxes and wires for tech-style bases; dirt and grass floor options; wall options of cut plank wood (similar to the Hirano floor pattern) as well as a true wooded version similar to the "walls" in Perez Park and Eden; ceiling options similar to tree canopy (again, like Perez Park); door options that look like bridges across water. Might also be able to have unlockable supernature things like pulsing crystals, DE emanators, floating will'o'wisps (non-critter type).
Cemetary Decorations
Originally suggested by: NovaFang
Category: Decorations and Room options
Customizable? N
Type: Purchasable; Unlockable?
Description: Mausoleums, tombstones and other cemetary type items for placement in base. Atmospheric effects similar to Dark Astoria's fog might also be unlockable after achieving certain badges in SG Mode. -

Website: No active website dedicated to the supergroup at this time. -
Might I request that there be some sort of notification system when a monster spawns or zone event is in progress? Perhaps turn the color of the war walls in the zone (and maybe in adjacent zones) red or make the information screens flash an alert calling all heroes to help? For a city that has the ability to mediport injured heroes to the hospital at the drop of a hat, they seem remarkably behind the times when it comes to proactive notifications.

I, like others here, would love the opportunity to go back and secure the Isolator badge. My Peacebringer is my badge collecting character and having inadvertantly bypassed the tutorial zone when I created him (let's be honest... I knew how to play and running errands between cops in the tutorial zone is tedious), I never got the chance to earn Isolator.
My proposal is this:
If someone has secured (x) number of arrest badges (perhaps 30?) then they can go speak to a special contact and be deputized for a single difficult mission in a zone fill with at least 100 level-appropriate contaminated and the mission assigned is to arrest all within a certain time limit. This ensures that not only has the character earned the right to make the attempt but they can't use it as an excuse to farm. If you require a minimum level to participate, then you keep them from taking people along to simply get them the badge as well.
