Batman's sworn to protect Gotham City. Bruce and the entire Bat Family have to know full well at this point that after they stop whatever scheme the Joker is up to, he'll get put in Arkham.

Then he gets out again.

Then he kills X people to get Batman's attention.

Then Batman stops him, again, and the whole process starts over again.

Merely throwing the Joker in a revolving door prison just stalls the Joker. It doesn't fix ANYTHING. That's part of why I hate the Joker's depiction in modern comics, he has WAAAY too high a body count for a schmuck with no powers. I don't buy that he hasn't pissed off -someone- by now who's more than willing to kill him.

Character: Precognitive

Walther was born in a middle class home. He didn't learn to speak until the age of six, and he was diagnosed as being autistic. He did poorly at school, and didn't seem to like playing with other children. In fact, he disliked large crowds of any kind.

His fear of crowds was pretty simple. In a very abstract way he could sense people's thoughts and the possibilities that might come to them in the future. The more people who surrounded him, the more cluttered his mind became. When he tried to make his parents understand what he was seeing, they sent him to a doctor, who said that he was schizoaffective. They medicated him heavily, but it didn't seem to help. After awhile, he stopped trying to tell them what he was seeing. He never knew when he saw a thing, if he was watching something in the future, in the past, or in the present. Worse, he didn't even know if they were times which would ever come to pass at all. It took him years to begin to sort it all out. He slowly taught himself not to even try to look at the possibilities which existed for others. In time he began to realize his own psychokinetic abilities, allowing him to slow the momentum of objects.

One day, a man approached him from an R&D Agency. They said that they helped troubled children, and wanted to enroll him in a special school. He showed up to interview Walther.

As the man interviewed Walther, Walther was flooded with images from different times. The man seemed to have existed in many timeframes and that causes his senses to go haywire. He saw the man in some possible future, introducing Walther to what he called the Council. There, he was supposed to help them rebuild their empire. He saw many thousands of people dying as they started a new war, using his visions to tell them where and when they need to strike next. In his vision, they called him a "precognitive."

Then he looked at his parents, and he realized that they had already decided to send him away. They couldn't afford his medication any more.

The man stood up, and he could tell that he wanted to take him on a drive, a drive from which he might not back home. He stared at him, and said "Would you really like to see the future?"

The man stared at him, and Walther open up the man's mind, filling his head with visions. He passed out on the floor. His parents thought the man was having a seizure and sent Walther to his room. He then simply opened a window, and left. He never went back.

Does your game still play after the patch? If the answer is yes, what's been changed isn't a big deal. If you can no longer play, that's the time for griping about the notes.

I generally consider my alts to be engaging in the timeline of Paragon City's history the same way my earliest characters did: from the beginning. Sure, *I* have done all this many times before, but for this new hero, it's 2004 (or 2006, depending on the arc) all over again.

Examples from movies which spring to mind are Pixar's The Incredibles with the short film Jack Jack Attack and Wall-E with the short Burn-E. The short films take place during the events of the features, but from the point of view of a completely different character. The WWII movies Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima both take place in the same place at the same time, but the former shows American side, while the other shows the Japanese side.

That said, it would be rather cool if all the current arcs became part of Ouroboros, accessible via time-travel only while all new arcs replace them and the calendar is moved ahead. Completely impractical, of course, but that would be cool.
