Still, out of curiosity (and boredom,) has anyone ever tried throwing together a "Debt protection" build - just to see how high you could get on it? (No, I don't think anyone would do this in game, this is more of a "Play with mids" item.)
    Hahaha!

I've been thinking to make a build with all these awesome powers: Group Fly, Team TP and Whirlwind, and built to maximize debt protection bonuses, but never came around to actually spec it in mids

I think, something got borked with Will of the Earth around the end of i17. I've been running this arc in Ouro on my different toons, and in the middle of i17, I had normal size ambush spawns (6 or so per Crystal). Last time I ran this arc about 2 weeks prior to i18 release. These ambushes were much larger than before. I don't have numbers, but it was something around 12-15 per Crystal.
  4. I edited my previous post to include base accuracy numbers for LTs and bosses.

LTs accuracy is 1.15, whereas boss, EB and sniper have 1.3

If he actually had a 64% tohit buff on top of a 1.3 accuracy, he'd be hitting my SR scrapper a hell of a lot more than he does, and I've fought him quite a few times over the last week.

Edit: You say that surveillance shows most critters have base 50% tohit? That'd make sense as they do. IF this is accurate, then the Demolisher would have a 14% tohit buff which I could see as working as intended. Still don't get that accuracy buff.... unless he conned as an LT instead of a boss. Do you have bosses disabled?
It isn't mine accuracy and to-hit in combat monitor. Comabat monitor mirrors numbers from combat attributes window.

    I have 1.77 accuracy bonus and 97.6% to-hit without build-up and placate

LTs accuracy is 1.15, whereas boss, EB and sniper have 1.3. So no surprise there

Were no pets spawned. Besides that, I've seen the same in another tip mission with DE. Nevertheless, I'll try to get another screenie without damage proc going off in surveilance.
  8. Greater Devoured having 64% To-Hit bonus. Is it bug or WAI?

Almost every NPC in the game including AVs and GMs have to-hit bonus 50%. So, I was kind of surprised to see 64% for Greater Devoured

I remember the second ambush appeared before I could hit the first sapper once, the third one appeared before I took out that same sapper. Before I'd taken out the first group the room was practically full of Malta.

I can also guarantee that I will be dismissing that tip from now on.
Heh, YMMV. But i'd recommend you to try it again. Just grab Frostfire before talking to Longbow and move out of LOS for incoming ambushes. It should be cakewalk. BTW, make sure that your difficulty settings are set to "want to fight bosses when solo". The rank of ambushes isn't affected by this, but Frostfire will be spawned as a boss.

  11. Longbow base maps were always laggy for me. I guess, it is somehow related to textures used on these maps, because similar crey lab maps are much better lagwise.

They probably just need to remove the "get target" check and set it to automatically "target self and activate".

    Edit:
It would also suck if you ever wanted to use the /assist function.
You can't have your mez protection then.
It happens to all powers set on auto-fire not only Active Defense. Hasten, AOE heals, domination... you name it.

It was around for few issues now. I think I noticed it around i14 or so. So, I wouldn't hold my breath that it will be fixed anytime soon.
  13. I don't think it is a client related issue, rather forum server is getting bounced.

When you got logged off, just log back in and hit "NEW POSTS". It will show less than 1 page of new posts. Usually it shows tens or even hundreds pages of new posts.

So, Dear NCSoft please stop bouncing forum server every 30 minutes. kkthxbai
  14. It seems, when getting this power, a pseudo-pet is created. It supposed to follow you around. But, it looks like, this pet uses [Walk] as travel power and it is getting easily stuck in the geometry.

What I have done to mitigate the aweful Zapper range, is to instead of fighting in the middle of the room, I stay in the same lab area where the Longbow Commander is originally located, and go to the right side edge of the door that provides access to the room. Frosfire, will follow you and stand between you and the ambush mobs, thus giving you a little bit of a buffer from being ground zero for all the attacks. I also engage hover and fly beyond melee range; that also decrease the number of attacks on you, and giggles, places more on Frostfire. That so far, has been sufficient to let me focus first on the 4 Malta Zappers as they come, and then deal with the other nuasances as time allows. So far this Strategy has been very effective for me. At least for this TIP mission, the ambush spawns elsewhere and the mobs have to travel to you. You could take advantage of this feature, to go to another room, use Super Speed and Celerity Stealth to stay away from ambush, which will eventually go to the final room defeat Frostfire whose survival is not a requirement and stand around there, wait for the raid leader to spawn, use a snipe to kite-him out of the room and to your area and then its a one-on-one event.

Sadly there are a few TIP missions, where spawn occurs right on you, freaking me out so much, but also its very nasty when you are a Defender and a mass of status effect spammers appears on your face out of the blue.

    Hugs

I did exactly the same thing while FRAPing this mission, just to show that Frostie is a great helper while solo.

I am usually too impatient to wait for ambushes there, so I would grab Frostie, summon my disruptor pets and start moving toward ambush spawning point, defeating all waves on the way. I would usually get Blackhawk 5-X near mission entrance room. It saves me about 30-60 seconds, so instead 3.5 minutes I spend 2.5 minutes

Black Swan is inside The Chantry, u need to use one mini portal of light to go inside, and then run in circles till you fin her.
There is another Maria's Black Swan mission (standalone, not the part of the arc) on the same map. In that mission Black Swan was not too far from mission entrance, not inside of The Chantry.

Well, I just did it again.

I was wrong about 5-6 waves. In fact it was 10 waves + boss in the end. Each wave started with NPC dialog. In addition to sappers and operation engineers, I had tactical operatives in the mix. Still waves consisted of 2 foes with 1 wave consisted of only one Operation Officer. Frostfire spawned as a boss was very strudy and was excellent as a meatshield. Now granted, Tanks don't kill super-fast, but still, they were coming so fast that I could only take down one or two in a wave before the next one arrived.
In my experience based on 5-7 runs with settings 0/x1/yes/no, every ambush wave consisted of 2 foes (in random combination: 2 sappers, sapper and operation engineer, 2 operation engineers). In total it was 5 or 6 waves, sometimes 2 or more spawning in very quick succession.

I was surviving until one of the four sappers got lucky and drained me dry; after that I faceplanted within a few seconds.
Just run it with bosses enabled, then Frosty will be boss himself and he wouldn't die in 10 seconds.

Well, anyway, this mission is in the middle-to-bottom part of my list of tip missions, I would still do it, if it were 5th tip mission for the day.

    My favorites are:
    - 2 DE missions (bombs/scientists),
    - Polar Shift,
    - Agent Freymuth (or whatever his name is).

Missions I would always dismiss (I hate escorting multiple NPC that are 1/2 mile away from exit):
    - carnie debutants
    - Sister Jocasta
    - rescue PPD from carnies

In fact, I saw at least two more ambush spawns charge in while I was face down before I used the base rez.

This is a character who normally cruises through +2/8 missions of pretty much anything including the occasional Arachnos or Malta mission. After all, typically I only have to deal with, at most, one sapper per Malta spawn and my 45% def is more than up to the task. Four of them at once however and they're entirely too likely to get lucky and when the end bottomed out so did I almost instantly.

It's a broken mission where my best solo character has massive problems on a mission set to the base difficulty level. I wouldn't even consider trying this on my squishy characters, it would be completely pointless.
Why wouldn't you use Frostfire as a meatshield? He hits them pretty hard. I've done this mission multiple times on my bane without any problems. Well, YMMV.

Yes, I know that others run too. IMO, Boss and higher shouldn't run at all.

But my post was specifically about Nosferatu. Out of 108 AVs and 2 DE Monsters I have in these 2 arcs, Nosferatu is only one who refuses to fight at all.

    Nosferatu: 1 2 3 4 5

Players of COH know that the above quote does not reflect the reality of the game. Critters run away whenever they feel like. Maybe you could somehow break the morale of a level 10 minion by killing a boss next to him, but come on. Nosferatu? A level 50 archvillain? I didn't even attack his minions! I was too busy running all over the place to try to get his attention.

He eventually found the entrance of the room and ran away towards the exit, until I lost his targeting reticle. I hate fighting in caves, so I didn't follow him, knowing he'd eventually be back. He did, and just stood there in the room looking at me (I swear: I moved location, and he turned around to face me). But he didn't attack me at all. So I dropped Phantom Army on him... and he immediately started running all over the place again!

After he disappeared out of the room and I lost target of him again, I started Fraps to record a video of it. While I was setting up, he came back and one of my pets attacked him, so I had to start the recording rather quickly in the middle of the fight.

Here is a link to the video. I added an introduction to it (basically what I said above) so it would have some context on YouTube; his crazy running starts at the 30 seconds mark.

Maybe I should have used the Crey Pistol.
Heh. That reminds me, I observed similar behavior few issues back...

When AE was just released, I made two MA arcs called "AVs, AVs, AVs..." Part 1 & 2 to be able to fight AVs on my ill/rad without doing flashbacks.

Each arc has 5 missions on the Demon farm map. Each mission has 11 named crates you can destroy. After destroying the crate, corresponded AV will be spawned on the map.

Spawned Nosferatu exhibited exactly the same behavior. He started to run from me without attacking, and I couldn't make him to start fighting. (IIRC it was Council version. I don't remember whether 5th column version exhibited the same behavior, I probably fought him on different (small) map)

Initially, I thought, that maybe I somehow screwed up the settings for Nosferatu. So, I exited arc, opened editor to see whether flee flag was set (it wasn't), saved arc, republished, went in... and the same behavior again. After that I decided to put Nosferatu on old Hess radar map where he has no place to run. Only there I was able to fight him.

I remember doing 2 different missions with Black Swan, both in Chantry.

In one case she was in the main room, in another case she was not too far from the mission entrance.

Edit: Also, by some reason she was -2 (level 48) in second mission.
