    Bane Build Help

Well Heck, not sure this build will work at all.

You only have 4 LotG +Recharge, get a 5th, only another 200mildo more.

Why only 2 Purple sets? Can't squeeze another one or two in in place of Enfeebled Operation or Scirroco's?

Well at least Health is slotted correctly with all 3 Uniques.

Seriously, sorry to be a bit snarkey but ANY AT with the IO's listed in your build will be just fine, no really. I think that 3 Billion might do it. Let me know if you need any cash. I'm assuming that you have the fake funds to kit this bad boy out.

p.s. Once again, the pie in the sky build advice...sorry I know I'm getting dinged for this.

p.p.s Banes rock with SO's, you're power choices look great...
  2. I picked this up following Fury's exploits over in the Soldier of Arachnos Tread:

At level 12, I was hoping to buy a pair of level 15 Acc/Dmg IOs for each attack, so Fara would have better than average damage and accuracy for her attacks until she starts upgrading again in her late teens/20s. I did a search for recipes and enhancements and was disappointed that there simply weren't any available. Actually, there were 2 available, a couple of Far Strike Acc/Dmg recipes which the seller wouldn't even part with when I pid 500k for them apiece. It's not like I couldn't afford 500k, but these are "throwaway" IOs that will quickly be upgraded, and designed to give just a modest boost. I just ended up buying DOs. :P

I think the reason why IOs such as these aren't available stem from a number of reasons, but could mostly boil down to the lack of market volume. If sellers could assume that their low level recipes would sell, they'd be more inclined to list them. However, since market volume is so low, they have no / little incentive to list things and hence availability becomes poor. In a sense, poor availability is a self-fullfilling condition that is fed by a perception that it's simply not worth listing things because stuff doesn't sell.

Anyways, I'll get off of my soapbox. I'm looking forward to the merged market that is coming with GR. Hopefully, I won't have as much of a gap until next update.
Does it make sense to park a level 15 in a Ticket Farm and sell all the Ranged/Melee recipes or IO's to seed the market?

I'm not sure if there are even any blue side. I like to roll in the 10-14 range anyway but I normally delete everything but the prime recipes.

I'll try it tonight and see what happens.

  5. Bravo Fury!

I enjoyed the 0 to 1.03 billion run and look forward to this Journal.

I'll second the "take Pummel (put it on Auto) rather than WAWG" recommendation. I treat the starter SOA's as I would a SR scrapper, your defense is your offense at this point so spending endurance for a zero damage immobilize vs a single-target, decent damage, 60% stun melee seems counter-productive. (I would actually charge the Nullifiers and hope for the stun before they could mez me, crazy I know). Defeating your mobs is your best mitigation, WAWG is great if you want to stay Huntsman but not needed for Banes.

Pre-Gratz on your red side experiment. It's not the blue side but you'll make a mint, heck sell orange drops on the way and you'll make a bunch.

Your former Mid-Level Crisis Posi teammate,

  6. Just dinged 40 and followed the advice of slotting Damage IO's in Death Shroud. It's working great.

Planned build to 50. Thinking about dropping Oppressive Gloom/Cloak of Darkness and fit in Boxing/Tough. Also planning on dropping a Dam/End into the PBAoE after I get Physical Perfection and the the +end Procs slotted.

    Thanks for the advice everyone.

  7. Howdy Tanker Forumites:

Working on my 1st Tanker, a level 39 Dark/Fire, and have had nice success running at -1/6 with Common IO's and some inexpensive sets shooting for +HPs where possible. I did use 240 merits for the totally unavailable Theft of Essence +end proc for Dark Regen.

I've got Death Shroud slotted with 3 EndRedux and an Accuracy and was thinking about dropping in some damage Procs.

Build is below if any thoughts.

I have the cash to do massive IO stuff but I'm kind of the mind to run common IO's for now and maybe in the future invest in a few sets. The only planned IO is the Performance Shifter +end soon.

  8. Quick EB update:

Ran a level 19 Soldier to the end of the Marshall Brass Arc. He had Single Shot, Burst, Heavy Burst (aoe), Venom Nade (aoe debuff) and WAWG. Running about 19% Ranged Defense with TT:M and CT: Def. Slotted with level 20 DO's.

Cleared the mish to Elite Boss Professoer Echo (Energy/FF something or other) and the Lt. class mob Dr. Aeon?.

Popped a purple and yellow, WAWG, Venom, Burst...then Single Target Aeon? while Echo closed. He blasted me with a KB attack and I popped a green mid-bounce. Turned on flight pack and kept shooting (is keeping him at range cheating?)..used 2 more Green and a Blue. Defeated EB, if only I had Defense Debuff Resistance to prevent the additional Energy Damage attacks...wait that makes no sense...oh well so my squishy Soldier defeated an EB using 6 inspirations and 4 slotted (DO's) attacks.

    God this AT suxxors....
Gonna try this on other DO slotted toons to see if it is any easier.

So on your road solo to 30 how many EB did you encounter , and i am not talking about aeon clones or the 10-20 range .

But enough argument happy EB hunting cause tons of them at 35-50 with all those nifty arcs .
Oh wait here is somebody actually goes trough all the contacts to get nifty numinea IO without having to fork out 250 million + for it :P
What part of soloing every EB all the way up using common IO's (SO's before lvl 32) was confusing to you? I did it with the Fortuna with a very solid attack chain using Dart/Dominate/Subdue/TK. Once I hit 41 and replaced Dart with Gloom. Prolly hit Mindlink and Hasten prior to the fight also or is that "cheating".

A Bane/Fortuna/Widow (can't speak for Crab but they appear more sturdy then the rest) can handle most of them with "realistic" use of inspirations. Are you telling me you wouldn't pop a purple if you had one in the tray prior to a Ballista or Caly?

I'm curious to hear which AT can handle EB's without some inpiration help at lower levels (prior to 30 let's say)? Maybe Scrappers and Brutes? Why not SoA?

Oh btw? Does Infernal and Caly have a Defense Debuff attack? Maybe the Ballista has some Longbow hanging around but they get to die first (if you know what you're doing).

All's I said is that in my experience SoA's seem to be very well-rounded AT's (after lvl 24 mostly) and actually had an easier go of it vs EB's compared to other Villain AT's.

    YMMV.

This is so confusing. I will say that any SOA can handle any EB with SO's or just common IO's. The only thing I haven't run to high levels is a Crab but the other three are "easy mode" in the PVE world.

My common IO'd Fortuna, running lvl 35 IO's, solo'd every EB all the way up with very few deaths unlike some other AT's.

The OP is just looking for an argument methinks, SoA's seem fairly well rounded and in the hands of an experienced player can fill many roles on a team while being able to solo most content.

    Just my thoughts.
  11. Well my only thought was your AOE Fortuna only has three AOE, 2 PBAOE and 1 Targeted AOE.

My AOE Fortuna is below. Not exact power order or slot selection but that is the final build.

I chose those sets that went to level 50: Detonations, Multi-Strike and Thunderstrike that don't have Pool C/D components. I will agree that they aren't prime sets but the Detonation give 8.5 SO's worth of bonus, Thunderstrikes give 9 SO's worth of bonus, and the Multi-Strike give 9.5 SO's worth of bonus. Otherwise common IO's. It's a beast on a team btw (only used on TF's with gobs of mobs to mow down).

Sits at 30% Positional Defense with out Mindlink so it's fairly sturdy in it's role.

Single Target attack chain is TK/Subdue/Dominate if need be.

Any chance that your view isn't centered where it should? Did you move the camera around and fail to reset it correctly? Maybe the blaster is flying level but your field of view is wrong so you're compensating him right down into the ground.

    Just a thought.

Good luck with the build idea, even 25% def boosts survivablility a ton.

I was just playing a level 39 Night Widow build with level 40 SO's and was thinking the exact same thing!

VEATs are extremely well thought out characters where you can get some really nice "hybrids" built on a very fundemental solid core of self/team buffs.

I've got a Fortuna with heavy ST/Contol and his alternate build has 6 AOE's for gigantic mob/TF sweeping.

I've got a "Huntsman" Soldier build (no Bane) that provides support and ranged aoe whose alternate build is a Bane/Stalker mix.

A little something for everyone actually.
  15. Actually the nicest thing about the AE system is this (at least for me) is that I can take a lowbie/new toon into an AE building and run content until I get my travel power.

See this way I don't have to run all over King's Row with sprint on running scanner missions hither and yon for a flight pack.

I can run an arc, die and rez downstairs, load up on inspirations, and get enough tickets to buy DO's all in one tiny little building. No running around the place.

Now if someone would make arcs that are soloable for lowbie/new characters that were possible to find with my poor Search abilities that would be awesome.

It would be more awesome if people who made those arcs were 5 starred as a reward from the community, just my thought.

BTW: EXPLOIT Farming hurts everyone, Regular farming not so much.
  16. Well at the risk of getting flamed...

I guess there is no such thing as "harmless" exploit farming, in or out of AE. There I said it, fire away.

Is this the 2nd or 3rd time that servers were taking offline to fix an exploit farm? People can't play when servers are down, so they get hurt. Authors of AE arcs have to rewrite or unpublish, so they get hurt. Enormous amounts of infamy/influence has been generated using exploit farming causing potential inflation, maybe people are unable to buy the stuff they want in that environment, so they get hurt.

I don't care what people do, it's your $15/month, farm away....but don't ever say the exploit farming doesn't hurt the game. I just gave you three examples. I'm sure there are many more.

Farm regular content, running 0/8 is exceedingly profitable that's not-exploitable.

Just a quick FYI: I ran the infamous Jellybean arc one time on a Ninja/TA MM even level as Giant Monsters and I rolled it with common IO's. That's an exploit gang.
  17. Grant Invis doens't help your Jonin Crit melee, they have to Placate on there own (upgraded) or you have to Smoke Flash them into Hide.

I use my "I" key bound for Genin and Jonin to GoTo Defensive and put them right on top of the target, "O" does the same for Oni when I want see a Smoke Flashed Fire Sword Crit for the fun of it.

Between Bodyguard Mode, Attack my Target and those 2 GoTo's my Ninjas seem to perform well enough. (Paired with Trick Arrow for maximum operator PITA)

    Good Luck
  18. I"ll jump in a bit...I've got two level 50 MM, a Thugs/Poison and a Bots/Storm, and working on a Ninja/Trick Arrow (I know I deserve everything I get with this combo).

It appears that Bots/FF are/have been historically THE best combo for MM since the good old days, you could drop /Dark in place of FF and get similar results.

I slot all my pets with 2 ACC/3 DAM and then flavor to taste (except the tier 2 Bots which get 2 ACC/2 DAM/2 HEAL). Bots in the big bubble are kind of like AOE kings so when you say you can't kill a fly I scratch my head a bit. You could probably run 0/6 with SO's and not have any problems.

I use Bodyguard/Follow all the time and add the Attack my Target/Defensive command to my tray when I want to focus on a specific target first.

The only other command I add to my tray is GoTo Aggressive, which is great for melee oriented henchmen like Necro or Ninjas.

Normally MM are kind of easy mode assuming you take all your pets, your pet upgrades (skip your stupid crappy primary attacks, then plan on skipping all your stupid crappy patron attacks) and a heavy investment in your secondary of choice. Add a touch of leadership toggles for flavor and go to town.

There are a ton of great MM guides out there so do a bit of homework and find something you like. Don't worry about Expensive IO sets, you can roll with SO's and common IO's for a while.

    Just some thoughts.
  19. The only problem with the red-side is that merits are much harder to come by generally speaking.

While the respecs can be done quickly, there are fewer SF/TF opportunities overall.

There aren't very many story arcs with large amounts of merits for people to stealth like there are blue side.

I suggested years ago that if the Devs allow villians access to Croatoa story arcs and Katie Hannon TF's they would have solved a ton of problems...soloable arcs in a small zone and a level 30-34 TF/SF all in one.

I can't wait to run stalkers through all those rich merit reward arcs blue side.
  20. Just Listed: Hero-Side

Level 33 Crafted IO: Numina +regen/+recovery
    Below max (just a bit).
  21. I just have one Question? (with many parts)

Where is the damage? 3 slotted Fireball? No Hot Feet? No damage in Fire Cages? Is it all Imps?

You'd be unable to clear anything without damage powers .
  22. Just an aside: Energy Blasters seem to get all the KB hate; but every Tom, Dick, and Harry is using the Nemi staff KB attacks all the time and no one ever complains about that. If someone complains about your KB give 'em hell when they grab the Nemi staff, all's fair.

KB is 100% mitigation. So what if the scrapper has to move to finish defeating a mob, that's what scrappers do. If they don't like chasing mobs use the Nemi Staff

How come no one complains when a mob runs away? Is it the controllers fault? The Tank not taunting it back? Does the Tanks/Scrappers damage aura cause scatter?

It' a viable game mechanic that helps a blaster/defender survive.
  23. My MA/SR stalker took Ghost Widow. The -acc fits nicely with SR mostly.

I only use 2 powers: Gloom is in my attack chain as it is a great attack. I also have Moonbeam for LRSF pulling (better me dying then a corrupter).

I leveled this toon up prior to soft-capping mania so I got the stuff cheaper back in the old days I can't imagine what he would cost now. Because he is soft-capped I dropped Elude.

I also dropped Super Jump now that we have Ninja Sprint, but he went most of his career on Swift/Quickness/Sprint and the Raptor Pack from Atlas Park MM. (Grandville ain't so bad for running around when your hidden).
  24. I'm gonna replicate the Goats experiment.

I have a lvl 12 Gravity/Energy Dominator (Single Target specialist) over Triumph way with 35,000 infamy. Gonna solo him and run arcs and I'll get back to you. When he gets DO's I'll bump diff, same with SO's.

He already has 17 merits I think but I might "buy" some large insp to sell for his first group of generic IO's. Will see...
  25. Part-Troll's way is working..

    Bravo! Here's a cookie.
