Quote:Nope. It was always pie. Cookies were instantly diminished by Ulli when he appeared, so pie is the only thing that endures. And there isnt another pie server that I know of. Bacon is just a passing fad.Umm....you sure you aren't new? Guardian is the Cookie server, NOT Pie.
And to be honest, Guardian is the Badge Server. With a history of the top badgers in the game.
But one cannot eat Badges.
(waits for pic of a Cookie shaped like a Policeman's Badge) -
:SIGH: O fer cryin' out loud. Agge knows I think the world of them (or I hope so... nothing but respect in general). I just meant that spreading the price over the time allotted equates to about 3 bucks. 3 bucks is around about the price of a cuppa joe from Starbucks (actually that would be a cheap cup of coffee there); so drop one cup a month (if one drinks coffee at that overly popular for the product java joint) and voila: it's a wash economically. Dont see it as condescending.
The add on about calorie intake wasnt meant as a jab at Agge. Far as I know she (I think she said she was a she once) is a supermodel with a PhD and wicked gaming skills until someone proves definitively she is not. And then I will not believe it. But even the most svelte among us could live without the high calorie dairy drinks from SB. Plus the cholesterol. Oye!
But mayhaps Agge's "disgusting" comment from what I saw as a purely good and equitable business model for the reasons I attempted to explain got under my skin. If so I apologize, but stick to my guns as to my opinion on the subject of this thread as I see it. I am all for raising the Jolly Roger when the corporate scalawags attempt to keelhaul their customers, but I dont see that as the case in this instance.
PAX! -
New? Nay. All Guardian all the time. Bacon is just a recent affectation that I blame for teen mortality and global warming... er climate change... er fooling people in order to keep their own high paying yet unnecessary jobs.
(Whupsies. Did I just dis a few Nobel Laureates for junk science? Hmmm, I guess I did) -
Quote:This.I got an idea! You know how emotes can cause objects to appear? IE: alakazamreact, drums, floatbooks ect. Why not make an emote where you go into a sitting position and a chair appears? You could have different emotes for different chairs even. This would be a rather simple, I believe, solution w/o reworking the games system.
I've made the same counter-suggestion many times myself. Make a couple of /chair emotes, and this becomes a negligible 'need'. And you could add a /chairspin or /chairlean emotes for Slope's 'special' kids. -
Quote:And problem with that idea is Attacks/Damage Output of the individual Henchman compared to the MM Type (Thugs, Bot, etc.) Attacks/Damage Output if you want to retain the illusion of actually MMing another Group's MOB. SCR for the Devs coding all of the possible combinations. Otherwise we would possibly get one or two 'uber' sets of Henchmen being used (and thus a lot of wasted Dev time coding the other combos).I suggested this a while ago, with the idea that the existing enemy type pets (Council bots, Vazh zombies, Tsoo, etc) would be unlockable via defeat badges. It totally makes sense, too - beat up enough of 'em and you earn their respect/fear, so they work for you!
As far as the OP: I would find simply being able to 'color' my Thugs, Ninjas, Bots a la CC acceptable, and of course keep the same Henchies each time they are Summoned for the Thug and Merc Sets. -
A couple of things:
* I'm not sure what the 'access rights' to another persons 'Costume Files' would do vis a vis storage on the Server DB. Being able to access one part of another person's Character Storage on the Database may leave a gaping hole for Exploits/Hacks/Etc. Thus I am not sure it is effectively possible; SCR applies.
* It may not work at all in the same manner that one cannot Load a Costume from another Locally Stored Costume (on the same PC) from another Account if it uses any Costume Part that is a special unlock (ie: Valkyrie Pack, Badge, etc.). So not usable there.
* Storage of All Costumes in a separate DB might make it possible, but is the resource use desirable enough for Dev implementation? Dunno.
* Do we really need to 'clone' Costumes all over the place? In the case of an 'SG Costume': yes. Otherwise: meh, I dunno. Individual creativity has always been the hallmark of the CC in CoX.
Personally, I have always enjoyed making my own creations for the individual character, and wouldnt find much use for this, but to each there own I guess. I think this may fail in the Usefulness to Effectiveness to Glitch of a Suggestion ratio, but implement-atbility is in the hands of the Devs; further deponent saith not.
It might be just as easy to ask for someone to send you an email of their Locally Saved Costume File for a particular toon, but that has its drawbacks too. Or perhaps host a website of Costume Design Files (from your own HD) as a 'Haute Hero Couture' designer; Donna Karan watch out.
((Darn! Beaten to the punch repeatedly already. I gotta type faster.)) -
In these times of out-of-control cardiovascular problems with our young people in the US, can we really continue on this course of bacon domination? Besides, Guardian is the Pie Server; whence comes this bacon? It's just not right.
Hmmmm, Bacon Domination. Well, time to fire off a PM to BAB. Or perhaps Pie Troller. -
Actually not meant to be condescending, but since the Seattle-based coffee house gained such popularity it has become a standard to throw value in terms of probably the most axiomatic price point: caffeinated dairy drinks. So what about the rest of my comment?

Quote:Dunno why you would be disgusted other than being pricked in the Economics Conscience. Of course, the price differential is probably why... Which in any business model would be a tough call. What price early adoption? That is up to the individual. If one wants some of the goodies early (and we estimate the earliness at 5 months); then the price to have access to that which is not ingame yet and using your numbers crunching is $3 per month. Drop the Mocha Vente-ccino one day a month, and you're gold, Angel. Besides, the caloric reduction is always welcome to any health conscious being of the galaxy.Note that this means you are paying more by pre-ordering the normal expansion and then buying the item pack, since neither one comes with a $15 value free month.
$30 Expansion
$10 Item Pack (assumed price, going off previous item pack prices)
$15 month
= $55 (pre-orderable)
$40 Complete Edition
free item pack
free month
= $40 (not pre-orderable)
They are looking to seriously cash in on the inflated prices for pre-ordering. It's kind of disgusting.
Again, "what price early adoption?" It is not disgusting; it is an equitable trade-off. -
Quote:Which is another good reason NOT to even look at DCUO IMNTBHO. CoH started out and remains casual player friendly, and though there are some decent (read: mature) PvPers; they dont seem to be the norm. I have spoken at length with veteran MMO PVPers to get a handle on the whole mindset, and that seemed to be the consensus of some pretty decent folk who also happen to be PvP monsters. I even went into PvP with them when they asked, but never really enjoyed it.No dead horses, thank you
But I do think PvP will get looked at again - especially if DCUO is centered on PvP.
Worldwide/Global/Whatever PvP in CoH would just either make me even stealthier (teaming even less than I do now) or just fold up my account.
Now, if there was a Flag System in place, and if you were being annoyed by someone to PvP constantly, AND you could then tag them with an instant MapServer... that might be a slight amelioration for all the hassle. Not gonna happen, but it would be nice. And everyone has heard the stories of PvPers spamming someone with PMs and Broadcast insults to try and goad them into setting their Flag for PvP in those other games. Heck, it happens in the PvP Zones here; when someone is just running about in the Zone not wanting to PvP and the PvPers keep Broadcasting trash talk to get them to "stand still and fight".
No need to mention any ranger here. -
You may wish to get in contact with CR (Niviene, theOcho, Avatea, et-whoever-I-forgot) to see if they can set you up with some sort of deal especially since it has to do with schooling. Might even make for a good snippet for Paragon Studios, etc. as an advertising gimmick. Who knows.

Just proliferate Poison to Blueside. No need to rename everything. If someone cant get past the 'basically' internal naming conventions of a game to play a power, wll, their problem isnt mine. If I want to call Energy Blast, Water Blast (its original designation); I can. No need to bother the Devs. I not only dont generally crunch numbers for powers, I dont even look at the descriptions more than once just to see what they do, not how the Devs decided to describe their backstory. Backstory is my job; the Devs just give me the tools to do my job.
Bu maybe that's just me if the Devs still feel the need to keep things that separate twixt Red and Blue. -
Well, I can back a metric boatload of RP-style emotes like /mic, /guitar, /bass, /sax, etc; but not so much the adding a Music Player to the game. Too much chance of it screwing with something else in the game like 3D positionality of Sound Effects in the game itself. It would be like adding a 'Snapshot' viewer like a camera screen for viewing your /Screenshots folder; a nice thing, but really unnecessary as all get out. (Lord, I hope that doesnt become another Suggestion here)
The emotes would be cool to mess with, and give the Boss Jocks (The Cape, W00t, etc.) a real mic to use when broadcasting events in game. Mix that in with another metric butload of dance emotes (a la the other MMO) to make some slick choreography possible, and you will have players like Dark_Respite break the sound barrier getting out their credit cards for the Buy. I couldnt blame 'em either. -
Quote:There is a reason things die: it is their time.well, shoot, this thread seems to have died. I was really hoping for some feedback on this.
I've seen this kind of idea multiple times, and it still falls flat for the most part. Use of this functionality would be next to nil. There are many players who enjoy Souvenir collecting as much as Badgers love badging, but there isnt a room or gallery in a base to show one's collection of badges either. A single scrollable page; yes, but no need to waste disk space on the data to make a gallery one could stroll through.
Secondarily, the Player Badge Info page/tab is useful for only one thing to me. That is to gauge a player's apparent Ability (how they are acting ingame) to Time Played (Vet Reward badges). It's not perfect, but it can be interesting to see that the newb I am presently adventuring with is actually more of a n00b, or conversely that the n00b that is irritating me is actually a newb which allows me to drop my annoyance level to that of background radiation and be a little more vocal in helping said player. I dont know that even being able to access the Souvenirs would do that for me.
In any event, Souvenirs are pretty static (every player can either have them or not as they choose) so I couldnt back any idea that treated them any differently than that of the Badges. A page: yes; a building: no. IMO anything more is just gilding the narcissistic lily. -
Quote:Neither, nor; either, or. Outside of the RP Servers/Groups; no, Bases arent much of a priority to many players aside from the 'point-to-point travel'. So, not a lot of interest in making a little used (by the majority IMO from) aspect of the game 'more immersive' or whatever. While this may spur new interest in Bases by giving them more of a purpose; I dont think that many have a very strong opinion either way.Exactly what I want to fix with this thread. I was hoping people would give feedback saying whether they'd want something like this or something with new art, but it's been very quiet.
Just my opinion, but then I used to enjoy mucking about with my Base, but nowadays; not so much. -
Quote:I LOL'd!when i first read the announcement about epics, i thought "why are they doing that?" But really, there is not much epic about them, aside from the story.
Quote:and when i 1st reached 50 i was only on my PB up untill lvl 12 i didnt feel epic!
As a great man once said; "I don't feel tardy".
And sadly, Mornediel's attitude is rather elitist, and based fallaciously on the notion that the EAT's are uber ATs. Probably the initial reason for making them unlockable at 50 was a combination of reaching level 50 in combination with opening a new storyline other than the standard Paragon City story since a level 50 would have had the opportunity (slight though it may have been) to experience the whole story of a Hero in Paragon City.
Vet Rewards are different from Level Rewards, and the Devs stated long ago that "making an Epic Archetype unlock at level 50 was a bad idea". But I just repeat what others have already said... for emphasis. -
Are you talking about scrolling with a Wheel on your mouse? Or something different. When I scroll (using the mouse wheel) my Logitech G-5 does so incrementally (one line at a time)and I can feel that in the turn of the mouse wheel, so it is expected. Or do you mean something else?

Because I see this post (or one exactly like it) hyperbolically erupt once in a while; I am first going to take issue with it. Then add about .5 Inf to be FC (Forumatically Correct).
Yet you continue to come back. Einstein would say something about that, but I will let it hang.
Quote:Too much to ask to discuss the idea - much more fun to point out that buried somewhere else in the forum someone once said something similar at some point.
A good 90% (or better) of the time that someone says that; the Post referred to is a Sticky at the top of the Thread Listings. The later 10% of the time, the Thread referred to has been active for a couple of days, and people have already hashed it out; and not wanting to let you feel as if 'nobody cares', they are simply pointing you in the direction of where people have already been discussing it. Why do you have to make that a negative?
Quote:Oh, you've seen the idea before and it should be in some other location? Fine. Sorry. My bad. Now, drive on. Once it's posted, it's posted. An idea is not worth talking about if it's not in the exact right place you'd like to see it? OK....
On Topic: I like your idea, and Seldom's, and Zamuel's take also. Interesting stuff. As far as making Signature Powers like the Zeus Attack; that probably wont ever happen because it would be too labor intensive. And after the first time someone sees the Lightning fall fromthe sky, someone else will want it, and suddenly you and 15,000 other Characters are using the same Signature Power anyway.
Actually, any power can be a Signature Power (a la Ebon Eye as stated previously). It just depends on how much you use it, or what importance one character puts on that power to the exclusion of many others in any set. To make it unique is always the problem, and the problem with that is making it balanced, and that is in the hands of the Devs. Wonder what they will do about it? I look forward to seeing.
Good luck. -
Quote:You gotta throw the right one, Kheld. PokeBall gets you the Tier 1's, UltraBall gets you the Tier 2's, and MasterBall gets the Tier 3. Simple.Brusier, I choose YOU!!
*tosses Pokéball; Arsonist pops out*
DAMNIT!! >.<
Plus you just know that BABs will get Animal/Creature MMs into the game someday, and we will need a delivery system. -
Also, Kheld, just typing ipconfig /flushdns and executing it in the Run box will do the whole process without having to muck about in the DOS Window. Saves a second or two. I cannot speak to Vista as I havent upgraded to that OS yet.

It will stack with the games 'merged'. Because it is a 'unique' Box code. Whereas there are a couple Box codes that I dont think stack anymore. But that is just supposition on my part. I think that my son tried to stack two Standard Edition codes (a CoH and a CoV) that I had lying around, and I believe he had some problems with that, but it's been a while since he did it.
Back to the point; being that the CoV CE has unique items attached to it, it is a different kind of code, and will stack with the CoH CE. -
Man. If we ever do get Power Customization for MasterMind Primaries; I wanna summon my henchies with Pokeballs. Sure, this isnt the S&I Forum, but then again, I might get a more positive reaction to this insane idea here.

This isn't gonna come out right, but what the heck. Maybe someone will get a chuckle, or want to smack me.
Gratz on the youngling, and far be it from me to critique naming conventions. But then due to circumstances beyond my control; my wife named our daughter alone (and she isn't the best at proper spelling), and my daughter still cringes whenever I tell someone about her name. She is my lovely Brieanna... my wife 'favoured' me with more cheese. Apropos or just the cosmic joke that is my life? You decide.
It aint easy being cheesy. -
Thanks, Kheld. Was too late in the night (early in the day) for me to think of dragging out the Character Map to get it right, but I couldnt just leave the diacritic out.
Now what do I do with this Nerferteri in the Ball? Suggestions?
