  1. As the Anniversary of CoV is Oct 31st, but 'Headstart' release for PreOrders was 27 October.
  2. Interesting turn of phrase "biggest expansion since CoV" especially since MA came out. We won't know what it is until they give Official word, but it does sound like a true Expansion, or Expansalone if they compare it to CoV. Which begs the eternal questions of what gained, what lost, and do you know the way to Praetoria? na na na nnna.. nana nana na.

Guess we fall back on... Soon®
  3. Wouldnt be much point to being a Void, but I get your point. As I dont PvP with my Khelds or SoA's or anything, I generally ignore it. Like I said, I see your point. But I'll let it die here. I was actually more along the lines of Suggestion-Question about whether they had been Suggested. Seemed like almost a natural.

Of course, I would rather have had Nictus for Villains too, and not some Kheld revamp because I dont see Nictus as just Khelds with a mean streak, I see them as different and not taking the 'forms' of their slave races. Just my opwn take of course.

Never even considered another Epic as unlockable at 50 (I read the Devs). And for you, Bill; I gotta agree on the epic of the Epic Vills... weak. If they are going to create new Epics; they had better have a story or why bother with anything no matter how interesting the powersets or builds.
  4. Like a 5th Column SF??? Just a thought. A Longbow TF wouldnt be a bad idea either.

And actually, Alt, that part was a bit of a joke. Although, it would be funny in my own twisted way of thinking.
  5. Special against Khelds, yeah. And I'm not really backing this as the greatest idea, personally. Powersets? They all seem to use the Quantum Array guns, but I could see them going down another track (like SoA's) to make a Nictus Energy-based Melee Power as a split AT. Just an idea.

And to achieve parity: eventhough I dont think Hero MM's are a great idea. I could see an SoA-style class of Longbow Soldier to pair them with. Badabing! Make them akin to Vill MM's but calling up their own 'special troops' that work under command, and we might be able to get rid of the Hero MM forever. You are 'forced' to make only 1 type of minion/henchie in 3 flavors of course, but still Longbow. I am pretty sure something like that has been suggested in the past, but I wondered about Voids for VEATS.

Doggonit! I've never really liked the new AT suggestions and now I feel like I might be interested in fleshing this one out. Cursed Suggestions & Ideas!

waaaaaaayyyyy too much time on your hands, man.

[/ QUOTE ]Is it any wonder he's not the president?

    [/ QUOTE ]

OOH! I know why I'm not President!

    1. I'm not a rich.
    2. I'm way to evil to be allowed anywhere near that kind of power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I feel that I should point out that your second reason didnt stop Bush, so you might as well edit that out

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bush is in denial. He doesn't believe he's evil.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not to get toooo political here (and I'm not a supporter of Bush the IInd), but Obama is even better than pure evil. He not only thinks he is doing the right thing (students of history are already laughing at him), but he has persuaded another notoriously evil group (Congress) to aid him in his plan for national discombobulation.

Obama-MasterMind? Wonder what Server he plays on?
  7. Yes. I used Search, and came up snake-eyes; and I cant believe that it hasnt been suggested before if it hasnt, so here goes.

With the impending return of the 5th Column, what do you think of the Void Hunters as the next Villain Epic AT? I dont have any specifics for powers, but I figure that they would chain similar to the SoA's at least. Any ideas or thoughts?

The idea came to me in another thread here just a minute ago. I searched; I failed: I suggested.
  8. Meh to Peacebringers/Warshades Villainside. They are Epic (ie; story based), but what would truly be cool for another Epic AT (and perfect Villainside) would be the Voids/Quantums. I dont know if it hasnt already been suggested and dont feel like looking, but that would make a better Epic IMO. Even better than SoA's, but from my viewing of the storylines pretty similar in division.

Plus I would love to hear "VOID!" screamed by a PB/WS when I found one in a PvP Zone. No, I dont PvP, but that just might make it attractive to me.

  10. Amen. Giving the Playerbase the ability to 'make' a badge happen or 'grief' one from being gotten is hoo-ha. Those need to be nixed. And Virtual badges are just plain silly, and... well, I could go on.
  11. I'm thinking that after seeing some of the thinly veiled bile against badgers in some of the forums here (not a lot, just some to prove that it is there), that the ratings system for HoF (or just in general) should be revamped. I dont know if the Standard Code Rant would apply, but it sure would be nice if you couldnt deviate from whatever the standard rating is without adding a comment to the creator of the MA Arc.

Either that, or the Devs should put something in place that would flag the 'griefers' who are just screwing with HoF status. Yeah, I'm dreaming, but it would be nice.
  12. Gotta agree with Lothic, and everyone else: the System is [censored] as it stands. BUT I am pretty sure that if we give it some time, it will blow over and things will stabilize enough to create a 'stable' of HoF arcs for badging.

Looking over the Forums; there is a lot of angst over how farming MA is ruining the game, etc, etc. Oh woe is me; I cannot get a team that isnt farming MA or running MA arcs, or just dont wanna do regular content. Well, we know that's how it's going to be for a while anyway. It always is. Once everyone has their fill of MA, Skywalker can bring balance to the Force, and it'll be all good.

Meh, just my opining. I feel ya, Beef, but I know that a man like you has enough patience for this, and I'm sure we all know that it'll go pretty much like I said. It just sucks right now. And WE WANT IT NOW! Oh, well. I agree.

  13. Players earn Prestige for SG's. They never 'have' Prestige of their own.
  14. I don't generally use 'tools' with my toons, but I think (not sure) that weapons appear to be fairly standard or they have a lot less wiggle room because I've seen tiny toons with proportionately huge swords out there.

Just my own 2 bits, but I'm not much a fan of the growth/shrink ideas when brought up. It would sorta ruin the feel of the game if I felt I was in 'Destroy All Monsters'.
  15. While I never spam anything in game (except Heals), I never really mind spam of any sort.

Spam email (in game or out)? Click. It's gone. Ouchie babies! My clickie finger, she is tender!

Spam Global? Who in their right minds, enjoying the game they are paying for and playing, pays attention to Global. It's the Muzak of CoX. It's there, but I don't have to listen, analyze or respond to it. The only reason I can imagine that somebody even reads what is in Global Chat is that they are looking for something that might interest them in some way, and when the 'oh so selfish' farmer John spams for a farm team, it upsets their tender sensibilities that farmer John did not entertain them with something of scintilating interest to them. Sounds a smidge selfish to me, but, as I said, Global Chat interests me about as much as grass growing. Actually, I sorta like grass growing... it's nice knowing that something else is living nearby.

The farmers affect me not at all. Someone getting PL'd? Same thing. In fact, I'll go one better. I will be annoyed when the farmers leave because they will take their subscription money away from the game I enjoy playing. Less money in NCNC's coffers means they are one dollar closer to shutting down my Server.

I am a selfish sob. And I have been the object of pages of repetitive Tells or monosyllabic local spam to try and 'get my goat'. The fools didn't realize that I wasn't annoyed... I was laughing my tochis off at their apparent lack of anything better to do.

But to each his own annoyance level. Carry on.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Just the look of the object. This game already has us having to narrate our origins to justify why the powers themselves look the same, but why not have some choices as to how the staff and wand look?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This always is the sticking point for some :cough:Virtue:cough:, and honestly sticks in my craw a bit because next to blatant griefing, I think the worst thing to happen to gaming was hypersensitive A-R roleplaying. But I won't go further. To each their own.

Concerning this suggestion, I agree with the 'naysayers', and repeat that the reason we have Vet Rewards like this is because they were specifically requested. Not that they will 'fill out' anyone's personal RP way of looking at their toon although I'm sure it does for some, but because many people think it's "neat", "cool", or "-your adjective or adverb Here-".

And again I agree that if PC comes it should go to the existing Sets first, before DevSources are shifted to the Vet Rewards for PC.

But that's just one man's opinion.
  17. Uh, we dont need Atlantis, and Lemuria is just another sunken or lost continent. Now, what do we already have in the game that directly points to the third of the famous 'sunken' continents of mythology? Hmmm, what could it be? Oh, I dont know; maybe...

We got CO beat in already using a sunken continent as backstory. Really surprised that no one has said the name in this thread already. Truly. Meh.

    Super Villains!

    [ QUOTE ]
do you know it is fact that Super Villains are in fact super heroes in their own rights..

To a Villain what they're doing [example: CoV] we are out there defeating and kidnapping people, and stomping on thugs and also fighting the Arachno threat, even fighting the Rikti invasion and the all new Zombie Apocolypise. To a Villain they are heroes, what makes them villains is that along the way of fighting these mobs or missions or whatever. They're using what they gaine to their advantage to gaine that power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kudos. Or as Hardcase sez: There's something going down, but if you're one of those, 'I want to eat human brains' types, then I got nothing for you. Look, we may be villains, but we still live here. I do what I do to make my life easier, but I don't go out of my way to hurt people who don't deserve it. I make my own destiny and I don't care about the laws unless someone's strong enough to stop me. But I ain't a monster.

    More Slots

    [ QUOTE ]
The issue with more slots is the devs seem to think we are strong enough.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. And didn't the Devs recently mention something about adding some sort of Universal Enhancement Slots to toons? Thought that I heard something...

    NPC Log In

    [ QUOTE ]
I've never seen the point of a secret identity system when you can just use an alternate costume slot for exactly that. That's what all the day job costumes were put in for, amongst the numerous other costume pieces that are more civilian in nature. I say this as a roleplayer.

I won't gainsay adding 'flava'; unless it somehow cuts into performance.
  22. Ninus

    NPC Log In

    [ QUOTE ]
This is how I thought Day Jobs was going to work. You log in as an NPC with your custom Day Job costume (ie: street clothes). IN this mode, you can walk around, wave at other heroes, but cannot trade, fight, or otherwise communicate other than "Nice Day isn't it?" when someone else clicks on your character. Now, like typical NPCs, your character will freeze in panic when confronted by a villain, but instead of running, your character has the option of changing into his heroic personae and fight.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The idea for Secret Identities and being a norm ingame have been argued, and at least the Devs have given a nod to RPers by instituting Day Jobs to help them 'get their fix'. But I guess you know that.

The thought process of total immersion is beyond me to this extent. My life may not be all that exciting or glamorous, but it has gotten moreso since I curtailed the overlong hours I used to spend ingame. It's done wonders for my lovelife too.

My biggest (if not only) argument against this is do we really need a game mechanic to take RPers by the hand and help them do everything. There's a reason why it's an MMOG (check the box); it's up to the player to add some if any RP to the game.

The proof is in the pudding on both sides now. There is even a suggestion right now for a working bathroom. A bathroom? I'm sorry, I just don't need to RP that badly. I went before I got in the car.
  23. which is why Lothic put it last in the hierarchy of concerns for the Devs in considering a new powerset. It may very well be first on their list because it's a quick "will it cause clones? can it be used without directly being considered a clone?" question.

Just my opinion: IP and copyright issues aside; the Devs would probably not bat an eye at clones, and would probably welcome them as everyone and their brother would play the game to create their own take on their favorite Hero/Villain (just the arguments over what AT and Powersets would Batman or Superman be are entertaining). People would and indeed did many times buy CoH to do just that eventhough NCsoft made plain that a player would be walking a fine line doing so (Homage vice Clone). What I find entertaining (or found) was when Marvel and DC announced plans for MMO's, people automatically thought they would get a chance to make their clone-toons with impunity. My guess without knowing their EULAs is that the chances are nil because IP protection is IP protection.

Ideas get slapped down pretty hard and fast in this Forum because, as Solomon said; there is nothing new under the sun, and many older Forumites have heard it all before and sometimes know the Dev's decisions from their own statements on such matters. It's not malice. Just like the above discussion with Lisar. I know what I saw back when. I may not be able to prove it to her, but I'll make my statement and let her decide from their. No worries. No anger. No harm. No foul.

Sadly, though, there are some who take this stance as being elitist or flaming when it really isn't .
  24. Sorry, best I can do at the mo'. If you think the Forum search is bad here; try it with one hand on a PDA while horsin' a big rig down the Interstate with 40,000 lbs of plastic bags loaded.

I won't argue the point if I can't produce evidence, but the statement is true. And even if the Devs change their position (stranger things have happened) that doesn't change the veracity of my post. And it is why many just discount the suggestion out of hand.

The reason I'm shaky on a Posi post is because I can't produce it myself.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
So you also can't source that MM pet rumor?

    [/ QUOTE ]

First off, I may not always agree with Lothic, but that's just a difference of opinion, BUT I do respect Loth for coming to the table prepared.

Just looking at Board Reg'd date, I can tell you that you missed out on The Great Femmastermind Controversy of '06. I was there. It was a bit of a tempest in a teacup with Threadlocks and Bejeebers being BowFlung hither and yon. Until a still small thread appeared and a rather newbish Forumite did bring the question out again, and after getting pummeled a bit by some posters who had talked candidly and in person with some of the Devs but couldn't 'source' the "aint gonna be no femme henchies" Dev decision, she gently pestered one of the Devs and caught him in a good and open mood to explain the why's and whithertofores of the Devcision. The Dev was Positron, and if memory serves; the PM she got was posted, but I'm shaky as to whether Posi came into the thread to confirm it himself. But I ws there, and if you can't find the thread with Search you just have to remember there have been at least one MAJOR and several minor Dev authorized purges of the Forums since then. Also the femme henchie suggestion died a quiet death with that thread, and most who participated or read it let it go whether they agreed or disagreed with the policy. That's probably why it's not on the radar much anymore and is soundly ignored or slapped down when it does raise its head. So, purge or Forum Monster; you probably won't get a source eventhough it is true.

Your position on powers and cloning vis-a-vis the Marvel lawsuit is naïve at the kindest I can put it.

Sorry you don't like the answers; but it is what it is.

Oh, and lace does not make it underwear, it just makes it pretty. Then again Superman has been accused of running around in blue longunderwear for over 60 years. The nuance behind 'suggestive' or adult content in a Teen Rated game; well, it is subjective to some, but the Devs pretty much have drawn their line, and that is what matters most.
