  1. Maybe have a bare minimum of level IO's crafted (maybe the first two badges of each grouping), plus some other fluff (A History Badge, some Explorations and/or an Achievement/Accomplishment badge or two) to have the Accolade awarded, but ONLY allow the player to craft IO's that are unlocked by the individual level/type crafting badges (ie: you need the Retrograde badge in order to craft level 45 and 50: Defense DeBuff, To Hit DeBuff, Taunt and Confuse IOs on your Portable WorkBench). Of course Set IOs and such would be immune from these things as you already need to own the recipe to craft them. Add regular recipes that you already own or pickup in missions to the 'allowed without the badge list'.

    Just a thought.
  2. Actually, since I think I-14 you can do a Patron Arc, get the Badge and chose whatever Patron you want immediately. No need to Respec. The Patron Power Respec was made to allow a late adopter (say lvl45 when finished with the Patron Arc) to adjust their build to take the Patron Power Pools at the Lvl 41 point during the PP Respec. So, if you finish the Patron Arc at Lvl 40, there is no need to Respec; just take the Patron Power Pool you want at 41. At least that's what I did with a toon that hit 41 after Issue 14 dropped.
  3. No prob. Besides it was Botley I was trying to talk into broaching the subject with y'all. Heh. I talked with Havok, and he said he'd show me the ropes... then I'm going to grab people who need it or want it. I'm not burned out yet even after farming the single MI forever, but I understand.

Kudos on joining the ranks of us Back-End Ops. Back in my day we called them ASMATS who worked on the Systems, and Ops who did the intercept. Then again that was USAF. Have fun.
  4. Hard for me to say. Two of the three stray cats haunting my yard are male calicos. Yeah, it really isnt any surprise to me that my world is a little out-of-whack with the 'norm'.

    Codes?

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I got invited to a team this morning, and as soon as I got on, one of the guys asked me if I knew any codes. I'd never heard this term before, but I asked if he meant ID numbers for AE missions, since it was the only thing I could think of that was code-like. He said no, then said "if you don't know what codes are, come back when you learn" and kicked me from the team.

Anyone know wtf this guy was talking about?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope. Next time tell him: Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start. (bonus geek points for knowing what that is)

    Flying Crane Kick?
  6. Issue 16 will not be Going Rouge... it will be Going Chartreuse. You didnt get the memo?

Actually Issue 6 was Going Rouge (Introduction of Redside) as Issue 0 was Going Cyan (Introduction of Blueside); so it stands to reason that Going Chartreuse will be when we can crossover because those who do not buy the expansion will be green with envy.

    racing

Hoookay. It's not a matter of what does "racing have to do with heroics', but rather WTH do race cars and earning parts for them have to do with CoX?

I would say that I do not mean to sound snarky, but that would be disingenuous. Let's put the Auto Assault/Need For Speed CoX-Style back in the garage, Racer X.

    Honestly.
  8. One must choose wisely. Here's your change.
  9. I think it is simpler than either parthenogenesis or EUGR. Without 'real world' experience I theorize it is like the mule.

A catgirl breeds with the male human almost always reproducing a catgirl. Whereas the semi-mythical Catman (or Cat-man) is sterile for the most part and rarely breeds with the female human successfully. In both cases the human sire or dam is never available for questioning. Either because they are immediately killed and consumed by the Catiform, or they're just too ashamed to ever admit to it ala the Moped.
  10. Heh. Are you kidding? I've actually been hinting at how I could beg the Alpha's to drag me along on a MOLRSF for weeks now to a mutual friend. I just have a hard time bringing myself to bother people for a Badge. You wouldnt believe how much it takes for me to work myself to ask this question publicly (or for help with any badge frankly). I really hate to bother people with my own quirky badging obsession eventhough all the people I know are always more than willing to help.

Yeah, I feel stupid alot. My wife would say I have 'issues'. I would say; of course... 15 so far.

    Still Wings

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I don't understand why the tech wings flap anyway...

    [/ QUOTE ]

They flap quite simply because Jay misunderstood what we meant when we said we wanted Tech Wings. He was obviously thinking of some kind of bird that might have (but didn't) existed in Tron while we were thinking Buzz Lightyear.

We obviously weren't specific enough at the time.

Edit: I'm thinking we may get something like this in the form of Jet Packs when they finally master that back anchor point problem.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This, I really think is the reason for the obvious point of contention on the current Tech Wings. Once it's fixed; it will probably be implemented.
  12. There have been somewhat similar suggestions whose execution (IMHO) would either be gamebreaking or were flawed in another way but basically came down to the same desire. This one I can agree with though.

  13. Thanks Mrs, I havent run with the guys from Psychosis in forever. I'll give that a try and see who all wants to get in and if we can do it.
  14. I (and a few other badgers so far) am looking to set up and successfully execute a Master of LRSF run. Anybody have the desire, the ability, etc.; and if so when would be a good time? I am good for weekends because a new project has me working 15 hour days during the week, and I gotta sleep some time.
  15. You worry me, Kheldarn. Truly, you do.
  16. Ninus

    Please help me!

    I'll add onboard Sound chip...
  17. But let's be honest; I've never seen teleport done in TV, movies, comics or books in just such a manner. Personally, it can take as long and be as interruptible as it is without having a basically bizarre animation. Maybe just a lowering of the head or something, but the Powerflex-Isometric-Stretch-Armstrong move is a little meh.

Obviously it's not just me. Like he said, drop the animation completely even. That would be fine.

My friend and I had a long discussion about influence. Here's how I undersand it based on our conversation.

Influence is not money. It's how well known you are and how willing people are to give you things... for free.

Imagine you're actually a superhero and you live in a world where people could help you fight crime by giving you things. You don't walk into a store to BUY gadget DOs. They actually give them to you. For instance, Bill owns the shop and last week you saved his friend from Hellions. He has a business to run and can't give you too much for free. He also has thousands of other heroes coming and going. But you've done him a service, and he's read about you in the newspaper, so you're worth a few free gadgets.

Word of mouth travels fast in CoH, which is why passing NPCs always talk about your exploits. It takes no time at all before people know you got some free stuff. They know you're awesome, but you've already been given things, so you don't need more stuff right now. At least, until you save that shopkeeper's uncle next week. A typical conversation when you're low on influence may sound like "Listen man, I know you're Superman, but I have a family to feed. I gave you all I can spare, but I'm hanging on to some things for Ultradude who destroyed that giant monster yesterday." After you do a big deed, people want to help out.

Why do you get no influence from fighting grays? Because, honestly, the city expects more of you. If you're Superman, they want you to be saving the world from metorites and cosmic death rays, not muggers on the street. There are thousands of heroes in the city who can do that. Get back to work. The exception here is that if you're exemped, you DO get influence. The reasoning here is that you're helping another individual (exemped to a person) or a group of people (task force) using your knowledge and expertise. Superman teaches a new hero how to save the world. There's influence to be had there.

You go to the market. People are still trading things for "free" there. You meet another superhero who invented an awesome invention, and is willing to give it to you. It's SO incredibly awesome and powerful that the city doesn't feel the need to help you out for quite some time, because you're ahead of the game and there are other heroes they need to tend to. As for the inventor who created the awesome gadget, the city says "Wow, that guy totally invented something that helped out SUPERMAN!" and now they're willing to help YOU out.

You find a lowbie friend, and vouch for him. Your influence is now his. Word spreads around town that Superman is supporting and promoting Sidekick Lad. Anyone who wanted to help out Superman should focus their efforts on the new, upcoming hero that Superman is endorsing instead.

I knew it! This is the proof. Supers are all on Public Assistance.

    Superman is on Welfare!
  19. Why couldnt Peter Parker just been bitten and died, crumbling into dust due to nuclear powered venom instead of getting Arachnid Transference. Then we could have Heroed along without wanting to Tarzan through a cityscape.
  20. Uh, I think you made a mistake. Everyone knows that Pants is a Travel(ing) Power Pool. Where's the Tier 2 Travel Power?
  21. Ninus

    MORE POWERS!!!

Sheesh, Grey, your just ruining all the potential fun. I mean... play the game and learn what is really in it? Come now, good sir. You must be joking.
  22. Ninus

    MORE POWERS!!!

Somebody had too much sugar today... and then found the Forums.
  23. Ninus

    Water

The original 'Water' power has become "Energy". Please make a note of it. If you look at the Energy Blast set you will see the Devs attempts to make a Water Blast set, but they were not satisfied with its look, and so Energy Blast was born.

Personally, I think it looks fairly good to me as a Water Blast set, so if you wanna RP an Energy Blaster as a Water Blaster: fire away! What's in a name? A water blast by any other name would still have Knockback, and frothy bubble after-effects.
  24. The Koreans do love their Online Gaming. I hear their connections are wicked fast.
  25. Well, at least you got the 'Be Prepared' reference. Reread my post, reread the section of your OP that I alluded to. I stand by my statement on that point alone. You will notice I really don't disagree with you at all. I just made two comments about my personal feelings on the subject which a lot of Suggestions (even my own) are about: selfserving problems we would like to see a fix for. No big whoop though.

And yes, you must be in a mood because this Boy Scout sees where you made a HUGE error. And I will explain it. You guys screwed up, and could have been prepared: here's how.

Static Group... Plays at 9pm Tuesdays. Leader had to bow out on first day of this 'planned' and 'concept driven' (refer to 'Static Group' here) team. Yep. You didn't prepare. The group should ALL be Level Pacted because I take it that you all were at Level 5 or below when you formed this 'Team'. If not then for the first night, it's no big deal. Made it to Level 10 did we? She will have to work about an hour or two to catch you... even if Solo.

I went from Level 0 to Level 10 on first night of CoV Headstart in order to Found my VG on First Day. I worked late that day, and couldn't log in until about 9pm. I founded the VG at about 11pm, and that was while writing out all the mission text for each mission for my CoV DataBase. I did it all on Level 1 Villainous, Solo. I really don't see your problem, and if she gets called away next time; what will she do? Doesn't sound like she can devote the requisite time to such a concept team, eh? If you have an even number of players; Level Pacting them all would save you the headaches that are just around the corner for you, boss. Your 'static team' is already in trouble, and you could have been prepared for it.

Not all things can be prepared for, but this one could have been. I really didn't want to sound snarky, but you lobbed me a wiffle ball; I had to put it over the center field wall.

To reiterate, I really don't disagree with your suggestion. Only some of the arguments you used to make it.

BTW, I'd rebuild your 'static team' as I suggested so that even if one or two people have to miss a night; the team will not get too spread out in levels. Just a suggestion, and at your present level; not a big deal IMHO.

    Have fun, though.
