  1. I think you're overslotting your toggles for endurance, and underslotting your attacks. Keep in mind your attacks consume much more endurance than your toggles.

For that matter I wouldn't sweat endurance consumption too much with the amount of tools you have; with Conserve Power, Energize, Power Sink and procs, I'd be surprised if you run into endurance woes. Those powers are recharge dependent as well, so increasing your recharge might eventually give you the same returns for endurance management, with a side bonus of more damage output through faster cycling. Eventually. You'd want to do the math for your particular build, ideally.

Also want to reiterate my earlier comment on Kinetic Combat regarding the KD proc. I really feel you'd get a lot more out of the Dam/End/Rech KC.

As a rule of thumb for my own builds, barring exceptional cases, I consider 6 slots in attacks and at least 85% damage enhancement (ideally 95%) the baseline.
  2. A taunt aura in Presence would be awesome; on the other hand, it would become really, really hard to justify playing a melee AT over a buff/debuff one.
  3. You might be comparing the damage with Build Momentum on (on the old build) to the damage with Build Momentum off (on the new build). Otherwise, powers seem to do the same damage to me comparing both builds with BM turned off.

Unrelated, but I'd suggest changing those Kinetic Combat knockdown procs for Kinetic Combat dam/end/rech. A chance for knockdown just isn't useful as a regular enhancement when you aren't even at the ED cap for damage yet, if you ask me.
  4. The amount of shitposting in the official topic is the reason information is so hard to find, and when a topic is made with a simple question, people nitpick over terminology rather than answer... Nerfing is balancing, balancing is nerfing, let's move on.
  5. The "Accuracy: x% (y)" part in the individual power tab on the bottom left, x being the relevant number and y the base.

I believe y is, by default, 75 - which is the chance to hit against even-level foes. Against +4s, (IIRC) it's 36, and 48 against +3s. You can set y to any value you want in Options -> Configuration -> Exemping & Base Values.

With your new build you're still a little short even against +3s. Build Momentum is toggled on and inflates your tohit chance beyond where it will be at most of the time.
  6. 95% against +4s is overkill in my opinion, unless you're planning to go F2P at some point. As far as tohit goes, the alpha level shift means you're essentially fighting +3s at most in most content.
  7. Quote:
    Self damage is trivial.
This is such a stupid argument that is so easy to prove wrong I don't know why so many people insist on going on with it.

Brute ET at lvl 50: -156hp
Brute HP, with accolades, at lvl 50: 1800hp
Brute regen, with 3-slotted Health, at lvl 50 and the above HP: 13.5 HP per second

So, each ET use eats 11.5s of your regeneration. Guess how often you're going to use ET? With a base recharge of 20s and no recharge enhancement or external buff, on SOs, every 12s while Hasten is up. Yep, no regeneration at all from ET use alone, and even while Hasten is down you're looking at less than half your usual regen.

You can argue it gets better with IOs, or regen, healing and maxHP powers from secondaries, epics or incarnates. It certainly does. The fact remains even at base recharge (20s) ET's -hp is roughly equivalent to ~-90% regen, and this number only gets higher the more recharge you throw in. People spend hundreds of millions of influence to get that in regen bonuses.

And that's on brutes. Stalkers pay a much higher price for it. Tankers pay a slightly lower price (self damage is slightly higher but they have a much bigger HP pool).
  8. What I love about EM apologists is...

    1) When you argue the DPS isn't that great, they say "no! look! it's actually almost at the top!" (if you stick to SOs or common IOs and ignore ET's -hp).

    2) When you argue there's overkill on minions/lieuts, they say "well you shouldn't use ET and TF on minions and lieuts".

Yet 1) and 2) can't work together, because 1) assumes optimal ET and TF usage. Remove ET and TF, and EM is close to the bottom even on SOs.
  9. I like Synapse but I have to admit I once felt asleep doing it. Only time it ever happened to me while playing video games... Dozing off, sure, but outright falling sleep? Only Synapse.
  10. I kept Sprint toggled on, my bad. Not used to looking at this power at all.

That said... My Mids is still showing 4,12e/s recovery rather than 4.39e/s (accolades are turned on, maximum end is at 117). Not going to bother figuring that out. Given the numbers you listed I suppose everything makes sense.
  11. Quote:
Surprisingly endurance is not a problem though I do toggle off Focused Fighting, Focused Senses, Sprint and Ninja Run when fighting a pylon.
    Hmm. That's odd, because (according to Mids) your net recovery before procs with that setup is 3.04, and your end consumption while attacking is ( 4.37*2 + 9.59*2 + 6.41 + 8.53*2 + 10.78 ) / 12.144s, or 62.17 / 12.144s, or 5.12 per second, leaving a 2.08 net loss before procs.

Now, I've noticed your procs have a different look - I assume store bought ones? Perhaps these are significantly better than the original version, which averages at about +0.2 EPS per 100 end IIRC (hence 3 of these with 117 end should be only about +0.7 EPS, still leaving a 1.3 loss per second or so). That's about the only explanation I could think of, otherwise I'm missing something about what's happening here.
  12. Quote:
Honestly shards are pretty obsolete and the devs have even said they're going to start phasing them out now that higher slots are coming out.
Oh, boo. Hopefully, that means stuff from normal content will have a chance to drop threads or allow for some incarnate progress in some way, even if slower than the regular incarnate path...

As someone who dislikes trials, shards are great. Lets me craft Alpha while doing any kind of content, which is one slot less I have to care about.

It's a shame. Shards were done so well - rewarding teaming rather than penalizing soloing, using the years of content available rather than hiding rewards behind specific stuff. Plus, come on, "shard" sounds way cooler than "thread".
  13. PVP: no clue

PVE: I'd still go with SS/FA(/Soul) brute. TW/FA is a possible contender and may well surpass it in pure damage in the hands of a good player, but SS/FA has the often overlooked advantage of a massive tohit buff (which isn't relevant if you meant to say farming, but can matter significantly against certain groups if you're talking about fighting any kind of mob), as well as requiring little personal skill due to no redraw nor any special mechanic.

    Ok, I give up!

    Quote:
Y'know, instead of hitting a few buttons to delete a character, they should give you a mini mission to run through where it results in perma death and character deletion. Maybe even incorporate your quote into NPC dialog...

Or maybe I should go back to my beer...
    That'd be pretty cool.

You just know someone drunk would run the mission inadvertently and lose their favorite character, though.
  15. Slightly offtopic, but WP generally gets more out of building for additional defense than extra regen. The reasoning being, stacking multiple layers of mitigation is good, and as you already have high regen to start with (especially as a Dark Melee with Siphon Life adding even more healing into the mix), you get a proportionally less amount of extra regen from any IOs, compared to someone who would start from nothing.

So, beyond enhancing your regen powers with healing sets, which tend to have regen and HP bonuses, it's often best to focus on defense bonuses with your other armors or attacks.

    Quote:
In short: don't neglect the 3-piece Numina set bonus.
Thirding that. In any power but RttC, Numina Heal, Numina Heal/End, Numina Heal/Rech gets you more HP and hence effective regen than Numina Heal, Numina Heal/End and a generic heal IO, thanks to the HP bonus. In RttC, the two Numi + 1 heal IO slotting makes sense due to its much larger regen buff.

Fair enough. I am going to put my fingers in my ears and pretend I still think it's a bug so I can whine for it to be fixed.

Also: Energy Cloak's sound (from Energy Armor) still loops indefinitely.

...Watch out for overzealous mod nuking the entire thread now.
  17. Interesting. Do you use Ageless? Edit: I guess not since Rebirth is selected. Duh me.

At a passing glance I suppose your endurance consumption isn't sustainable over long periods of time due to no end red in IS and SB. Then again I guess with so much DPS even heavy targets might die before you'd bottom out, making infinite sustainability not a necessity? Yet another thing I didn't consider!

My own planned build is slightly different. It's intended for non-incarnate play as I tend to sub on and off, and with your chain should do about 280 DPS (wow) if my math is right. Save for Aid Self usage potentially decreasing that a fair bit, of course, but hey. I'm probably going to keep the potential endurance overkill on mine, I like having an extra cushion of safety on that front, and of course ~280 DPS (likely lower) will take quite a bit longer than 380 to 470 DPS to kill anything.

Stoked about this combo, this might be the first time I manage to get some decent damage out of something I truly enjoy conceptually.

  18. The one balancing factor with EMP is that it nukes your recovery for a while, and rads are notoriously heavy on end, what with RI and EF being high consumption toggles *and* passive once you've anchored them, leaving you room to attack at full speed. EMP doesn't do damage either, except to some robots. Despite these limitations it's already a fairly strong power, but if it also did its damage to any kind of target and no -recovery I think you'd have to be insane to skip it (even if the -regen was nuked).

As an aside, there's no need to "people" me because as has been pointed out I made several incorrect assumptions, recharge being 90 instead of 145 and the ability to slot for hold which isn't possible. Given these corrections it doesn't seem as whacky.
  19. Good point, the secondary effects can definitely be the best part of the deal, for certain secondaries, provided they go unchanged.

The proposed recharge is 90s, right? That'd give a 25 feet PBAoE -20% res to Sonic that'd up every spawn or two after slotting. Wow.

It would also make Atomic Blast a better AoE hold than controllers' dedicated, no damage AoE holds.

Seems too good to stay that way, honestly.
  20. Starting a TF at minimum level will still give you certain enemies not scaling down properly. I.e., lead a Posi as a level 10 and you'll get to fight a level 15 Dr Buzzard and level 15 Dr Vahzilok AV.

    Incidentally...

    Quote:
there are times when some foes not defeated but knocked down/back get stuck in the floor or wall for long enough that they become very, very easy to defeat, taking all the fun out of a dramatic fight scene.
This bug got me through the aforementioned scaling issue just today.

Also, when you try to read mission text and complete part of an objective while the window is open, it blinks and goes blank for a bit as if it were trying to reactualize. I believe it does the same when people switch zones too. Makes it pretty annoying to try to follow the story while not being the leader on a team, especially as in a "kill 200 dudes" mission it'll blink for every single bad guy taken down.
