You've got two builds. I say go for one with all the armors and one with just granite, play both and experiment until you find out which one works best for you.

Quote:I'm hoping we'll eventually get a "skip-junk-powers" booster pack - ok, maybe with a fancier name. You could also throw in some minmaxing themed costume parts and emotes, such as /e spreadsheet. You hear me devs ? I'm willing to pay real money for this !

Yep. You'll want to repost it using the phpBB / zetaboards export option.

I see ELA mitigation as blasterish : kill them before they kill you. You get a nice package of extra damage tools to help you do just that, a damage aura, a recharge passive, and last but not least endless endurance.
It's also possibly one of the best sets to stack inspirations with, because lucks (+def) are far more efficient than any other kind of insps and you've got resistance and healing covered. Converting all your insps to purple will make you very sturdy, and as you kill fast you're going to get lots of insps.
I've played a DB/ELA to 50 and found the combination enjoyable all the way through. Between the Dual Blades combos, giving you relatively great damage for a low amount of recharge, Blinding Feint raising your tohit and your damage (which affects the damage aura, of course), and all the ELA tools I mentioned above, leveling is smooth and fast. +2/x4 is definitely possible with frankenslotting, and of course you can push it above that on an IOed out build (although lot of it will depend on the faction you're facing, lacking DDR and any base defense makes ELA extremely vulnerable to defense debuffs... and to any strong debuffs, really). -
Here's my planned build :

As of now (level 39, common IOs + a steadfast) the character is unbelievably strong and I don't feel like I need any ST damage or Chain Induction. If I were to try to play optimally I'd position myself to get as much as possible out of Jacob and TS while LR and SC are recharging, but to be truthful ? I just spam whatever is on and IT WORKS. I think that's what I like most about the combo, having the equivalent of a blaster nuke every 40 seconds or so while leveling is simply amazing.
Judging by how I'm doing now, I think endurance use will be fine with just the base slot in CP. The Miracle +recovery might actually be overkill, it could be better to put it in CJ for an extra defense and HP boost... Not a big deal either way.
I'm definitely going to use the force feedback proc in TS like you did, it's such a nice idea and I can't believe I didn't think of it myself. Thanks a lot for posting your build. -
+0.7 part of the time is way different than +0.23 (or even +0.5 or +0.6) all the time, in terms of attack chains and whatnot.
Comparing Quickness to Hasten should involve considering the fact that Quickness can stack with Hasten.
Personally, while min/maxing it often makes no sense for me to get Hasten, considering the four power pool limit and the much better return you get from defense rather than recharge, past a certain point. Quickness/LR on the other hand, I'd never consider skipping either of those.
If you guys want to argue it's underpowered until it gets buffed, fine with me though. I won't hide that I find the idea silly, but I certainly won't complain about getting a buff on a few characters that really shouldn't have one. -
It would make a slightly bigger difference, but not a big one. FM doesn't see enormous improvements with recharge, or rather it's already great without much recharge.

Quote:I don't see the difference. You could always buy different accounts and claim your main one "recruited" them.
And before anyone brings up booster packs, the only thing that limits your ability to get those is choice or a lack of finances. Getting people to subscribe can be a much more difficult thing. -
Datalink doesn't work for me if I try to open it directly, it just opens endless blank pages in Firefox. If I save it on my harddrive, I have then to scout my download folder for it and copy it to my mids build folder. It also saves as "mids_buildX" rather than a descriptive name.
Much easier to just copy/paste the data chunk and import it in Mids for me, takes all of ten seconds and doesn't involve anything annoying. -
Quote:I had the same impressions, so looked at it closely. It does a normal tohit check, but it has something around a 20s recharge, and there's often more than one tarentula mistress. Seeing how crippling it is to lose 25% defense at once, it's no wonder it feels like this debuff hits way too often.
Yeah, mine kinda gets stomped by Arachnos. Is the 25% defense debuff from the Tarantula Mistresses auto hit? It sure feels that way. I go from epic to kitty cat in one hit, and I can't be burning purples at that kind of rate through a whole mission.
It might check only for psi defense, though... My own experience was on a DB/ELA while leveling, popping purple insps which is +def to all, so I didn't pay attention to that.
Edit : nevermind, I checked the power's name on CoH wiki and typed it in brackets in game to see the stats, and it does a normal check against ranged and psi defense. Accuracy is normal too. -
Note the difference between Inc Sc Cr Sc and Fs Cr Inc Gfs is lower than that for actual builds, because a Hecatomb proc in Scorch for the first chain will give +11.2 DPS, while in the second chain it'll give only +4.34 DPS.
Approximate numbers :
33% chance to do 105 damage = 35 damage on average
Sc Inc Sc Cr takes 5.94s to animate, with 2 uses of the proc.
35*2 / 5.94 = 11.8
Maximum tohit chance is 95%
11.8 * 0.95 = 11.2
Fs Cr Inc Gfs takes 7.656s to animate, with 1 use of the proc.
35 / 7.656 = 4.57
4.57 * 0.95 = 4.34 -
The Achilles proc doesn't stack with itself from the same caster, but the Fury of Glad is a different one and can stack with Achilles.

Quote:I work out at home and play CoH during the rest times. Works for me.
Yeah, I go through periods of focus and periods of lazy. I'm in a lazy period right now - been sick several times recently, tired all the time (might be a problem with my CPAP). I'm trying to get back up to full effort, but my willpower is lacking. I honestly HATE working out. I just like how it makes me feel the rest of the time. Plus I hear that exercise is good for you or something. Now I'm feeling guilty for not being in there lifting heavy things like I should be. *sigh* Well, whatever motivates. Off I go. At least it isn't squats day. -
Here's a build which, I hope, will lead to people screaming in horror and swearing never to read any of my posts again after seeing it.

I'm very fond of "he's a warrior with a sword" as a backstory, but yours is alright too.
-
I only drink water. I know, I know, how dull.
-
There's no possible good reason for skipping TT:M from a numbers perspective.
-
How did we switch so fast from the OP being a story-based soloer to an AV soloing AoE machine ?
Anyway, just chiming in as another person who uses NR as a travel power. Claiming it isn't one is ludicrous seeing as once you add Hurdle (or Swift + Sprint maybe, never tried the running route) it is faster than Fly, which is the most used travel power per datamining statistics from the devs. -
I've got to agree with Machine Man. While you're softcapped with good max HP and great recovery, you've made too many sacrifices on individual powers. Set bonuses are good, but it doesn't do you a lot of good if your attacks have only 30% damage enhancement.
I'm not convinced on skipping AaO either, especially as you got Flurry instead. If it's for concept, go for it, but Flurry is a terrible attack for scrappers. -
By the time you'll be done activating Burn, most of them will be back on their feet and some will run out of the patch before you finish Sweep to KD them again.
They will run in and out though, just don't expect to keep all of them in all the time. -
Meh. Now I'm going to kick myself for not using Gloom on weapon sets (I don't WANT to use it, it looks silly for my alts).
Stupid buffs making me reconsider my minmax/concept balancing. -
For a story-based soloer everything can work, so out of your choices I'd pick Katana/Regen. Reason being you get nice tools very early - Reconstruction by level 2, Quick Recovery by level 4, Divine Avalanche by level 8. Katana having fast animations and recharges you're going to do a respectable amount of damage at low levels.
While you don't need a travel power with the ninja pack, I think you should consider getting one with that specific alt. Regen is a loose build with room for power picks, and if you do story arcs you're going to travel a lot. -
Great AoE damage and aggro control, great survivability against S/L damage, good survivability against F/C/E/N, less than average ST damage and toxic survivability, poor survivability against Psi.
It could be argued this is a relatively late-blooming combo, with Invincibility and LRod opening up at 28 and 32, respectively.
