Quote:So we can't have access to our first epic power.
ALL I wanna know is WHY LEVEL 29?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
*grumble* ...character balanced around CP, that I grabbed at level 35... *mumble* -
Quote:I'm outspoken on the boards, this one as well as many others, and I express opinions that are guaranteed to offend both story writers and farmers, at least the touchy ones. Over the years, never have I received a tell of negative feedback, never have I seen my arcs (legitimate or farms) ratings suddenly dropping.
The player who makes a comment on the forums and immediately has all of their arcs 1 starred multiple times.
This community is by far and large a nice bunch, and most of the angry people are either only posting on the forums and not actually playing the game, or only angry when posting.
Much like any conspiracy theory, the myth of the 1-star spam only has one use, and it is to show the person who believes in it can't be reasoned with, as he's unwilling to accept other players might genuinely dislike his arc and will go to any length denying the idea that his work might not be solid gold and universally acclaimed.
Of course, a conspiracy theorist will conclude I'm part of the griefer conspiracy and posting lies to cover up my wrongdoings. Right. Well, while you do that, I'm off ingame to work further on my evil sunday agenda, which will consist on doing some ToT, some tips, some trials and perhaps starting the Maria Jenkins arc, all of this without doubt as part of a machiavelic plan to engineer the downfall of the last defenders of humanity... Errr... I mean, people who write fantasy stories in a video game about dressing yourself in tights. -
Now, Mr Brian Clayton, Studio Director and Executive Producer, unlike you I've not been here since 2003 so I might be kind of a noob, but I am fairly sure cellphones have been there since way longer than 2009.
(I am aware of the update that made cellphone access faster than it used to - still an ackward misphrasing/mistake on such a basic and fundamental feature of the game, IMHO.) -
The thing is, much like in the real trials, there's not much of a story here. Heroes go whack Nemesis base. End.
Trials tend to be gameplay-oriented affairs, and the OP does a good job at that. As a story arc with extremely limited mechanics, though? Eh. -
I swear topic titles in this subforum are getting more and more stupid.
You don't get incarnate access at all on a premium account. Case closed. -

Kioshi, by "AFK powerleveling" I mean I'm using a level 50 on a second account. I don't think it would be very efficient to do that on a lowbie farm with a single character (perhaps possible with judicious use of a buffing ally, but probably not efficient). -
Now that's a reasonable and fair argument I have no complaints with.
-
That is a very poor argument to make, doubly so for someone who pretends to believe in math.
Reaching the maximum available is irrelevant to whether a particular thing hinders Fury generation or not, unless reaching the maximum available is exactly as fast with that particular thing as it is without that particular thing. Using one single and unspecified example as a "proof" doesn't make sense either, as fury generation can and will vary based on attack speed, which is determined by all kinds of different factors like level, primary used, power selection, efficiency of attack chain, and even player lag and reaction times.
I don't really care about the argument itself so don't try to derail this back to that, just attacking the faulty logic here. -
Quote:Oh well, that puts the final nail in the coffin of my AFK powerleveling. To think I'll have to work for my exp now. Shock! Outrage!
The ambush farms are currently being nerfed -
AVs have the same innate defense as other mobs. If you want to fight +4 AVs, you need to put your base tohit at 48 (not 38, unless you're not levelshifted), but for level 51 AVs (assuming you're levelshifted), 75 will do, and level 50 will need even less than that.

End reducers in attacks are indeed a must, and more important than in toggles.
Unfortunately, end consumption doesn't directly get better until level 50 and can actually get worse as you add more powers and don't get any endurance management tool.
At level 50, the Cardiac alpha or Ageless destiny can get rid of your endurance woes.
Another option is to focus on set IOs with bonuses to recovery and maxend.
For temporary solutions during leveling, the recovery serum temp power (buyable from the market) or recovery base buffs can help a bit. -
Let's start by saying I don't care about the change one way or another.
However:
Quote:Picking an option in a reward table, without taking any special steps, an exploit. HA! Stop doing crack, guys. That can be labeled a bug, but not an exploit. The exploit was that you could get an alignment merit from the SSA without ever having done an alignment mission. -
All good ideas that should have been implemented yesterday. Given how many people strongly dislike leading and recruiting, automated team making is a must.
Regardless, it's nice to see they're adding more and more stuff to do with the LFG tool with each content update. -
Burnout only affects primary and secondary powers. I got burnt by that already. :|

Is the apostrophe usually ignored phonetically in english? Probably not the right place to ask, but I'm having a hard time searching the interwebz for that answer.

Lore pets should definitely make it a walk in the park, but even without it, I think Earth/Therm stands a chance against a fair amount of AVs.
Pooman has fairly decent resistances coupled with thermal shields. Assuming shields are slotted up and CoD numbers are correct: 64% smashing, 74% lethal, 90% (100%?) fire, 72% cold, 84% energy/negative, 90% (100%?) psi. Throw in the two pet resistance IOs, which are 5% each I believe, and you're looking at great resistances, especially considering you've got heals to patch it up.
Pooman also taunts, which means if you fight a lone AV without ambushes, he will keep their attention all the time, leaving you at leisure to pursue maximum damage output and recharge with the rest of your build.
The most important tool, as with any controller that isn't mind or ill, is the often-neglected ST immobilize, as AVs don't have a high resistance to immobilizes it lets you enable Containment all the time and actually deals as much damage as a standard blast (i.e. epic) while recharging much faster. The downside with Earth is that both the ST immobilize and the hold have a ~2s animation, so DPS isn't stellar ; but, again, you've got Pooman to help out, and you've got solid -res and -regen debuffs.
Against an AV without resistances or healing powers, you essentially have to deal ~30 DPS to make progress at all as your -regen is perma (technically even less than that if you have a level shift). Not too hard to attain. -
In before "well, the way people are it's completely believable".

/suppressclosefxdist 255 and /suppressclosefx 1 is your best bet.
I would love for a No FX option as well - but as should be obvious by many of the answers:
1) for most people, it isn't a problem
2) most people don't consider something a problem unless it affects them personally
So I'm not holding my breath for a fix. -
That a black and white spreadsheet is easier to read and navigate than the actual market says a lot...
Thanks for doing this. -
If my minimum threshold for playing something is a 3, and if something that used to be a 1 became a 2, the improvement is meaningless to me, it's still too weak - and, to paraphrase someone else's argument, I could say it's actually detrimental as that it was buffed once reduces the chance it'll be buffed again.
Drawing (and not even sheating) your sword 50 times per fight does not look good. It looks silly. I'm willing to accept people flying, throwing fireballs or getting superpowers from radiation poisoning but I have to come up with seriously contrived scenarios to explain Fighter McNotMagicDude's sword mysteriously vanishing in air everytime he uses his healing abilities derived from his mutant lineage.
To deride the issue as a minmax-centric one is a misconstruction, unless you define anyone who picks Hasten or mix and match SOs to not go over the ED cap as minmaxing, which, while technically true, is essentially meaningless as this concerns the vast majority of the game's population. Redraw is enough of a problem that it falls into that same threshold of minmaxing ; nobody needs to be a number cruncher to realise it's a pain in the *** to be still in the middle of that Headsplitter animation after popping Recon while the targeted lieut is defeated by SuperBrutorz666 with a well placed Knockout Blow.
What looking at numbers show, however, is that despite this gameplay disadvantage, weapons don't really get a significant numerical advantage for it. Even in theorycraft spreadsheet ST DPS weapon sets tend to be at the bottom of the pole, and only tend to have good AoE in fantasy scenarios assuming the player hits close to the target cap each and everytime without spending even a second positioning himself.
What's my suggestion to improve it? As others said, just get rid of it. There's no sheathing, so why should there be drawing? Or bake it into the power like Fire or Stone melee. There would probably be customisation issues, yadda yadda. Truth be told, I couldn't care less - I'm with Deus on this, I just avoid these sets like the plague ; unless I'm deliberately trying something different than I know won't be a serious concept character nor win any awards for performance. -
More power to you both, but it's not an option for everyone.
Personally, I merely have minor scoliosis, flat feet, some cervicale and ankle dislocation (probably not the right word, I mean the articulations jump a little and can get stuck), but even just that is enough to make a long walk more stressful to my body than a hour at the gym lifting weights, as the latter is a more controlled environment ; and don't take this as me being a gym-fan and a walk-hater, I love walking and can't do it as much as I wish I could ; and there are numerous people with much bigger problems than me out there.
There's the argument that almost everyone can swim (as being in the water puts nearly no stress on the body), but you have to live near a swimming pool that is open at hours you can manage with work and so on. Then there's different allergies to the amount of junk they throw in public pools.
