Thanks.
I can understand why they did it that way. A bit unfortunate for me and some others, but you can't please everyone I guess. -
So we have the option to search for english, french or german arcs. I was wondering how does this thing work exactly. Is there a setting somewhere you can enable to flag your arc with the appropriate language ? Is it server based (i.e., people on the french server get their stories flagged "french", people on the german server get "german", and everyone else get "english") ?

A call from Unai Kemen
" Hello..."
" No ! I don't want to buy 100M influence for $10.98 ! Not even with a 10% bonus ! How many times will I have to tell you that ? How does one *buy* influence, anyway ?!"
" Er, Nihilii ? This is Unai."
" Oh. Sorry, I'm getting a lot of spam recently."
" It's funny you should talk about this... I've got a job for you, and it's about gold farmers."
" I'm not sure I want to be part of that..."
" Do you know where behemoths come from ? They've got nests in Oranbega. As you kill more and more behemoths, there's more of them coming."
" That doesn't make any sense."
" This is why farmers farm behemoths. However, as the mysterious entity known as "Ensisoft" ban the gold farmers to another dimension, behemoths keep coming and there's less people to stop them."
" Go on."
" I need you to take out a behemoth nest. We don't know much, and any information is welcome, so make sure you record all this. From the intel I've got, the nest looks like a small room with a portal inside. However, you have to kill all the behemoths already in before you destroy the portal."
" All the behemoths ? How many are we talking, twenty, thirty ?"
" No clue. Probably something like that, yeah."

" So, Unai. I took care of your LITTLE behemoth problem."
" Hey Nihilii. Good job on that nest. Funny thing, though. It seems I got something backwards."
" ... "
" You didn't need to kill all the behemoths, it's the other way around. Kill the portal first, then the behemoths. Actually, you don't even *have* to kill the behemoths ; without the portal, they starve to death"
" ... "
" You still there ?"

~~ SILLY RP MODE OFF ~~
The mission can be obtained in Unai's story arc. To get so many behemoths, I put my scrapper near the portal with DP on auto and went to work, coming back hours later.
For this fight, there are no rules. Two men enter, one man leaves. Actually, it's more like "one scrapper enters and a bunch of behemoths are already here". And seeing as the behemoths don't move once unaggroed, they won't leave even if they win. Damn it, I wanted to put a cool movie quote in there.
Anyway, you get the point : no going out of the room until everything is dead. As I was operating under faulty intel, I also had to kill all behemoths before the portal. Of course.
I died two times before figuring out what to do. You might wonder why ; if I can handle them while being AFK, why would I die fighting ? Well, while I was AFK I had mostly minions and maybe one or two lieutenants attacking me. Fighting one boss in melee while 16 other behemoths are also shooting at you is another thing entirely, as their Invincibility ensure they hit often if they're in melee. Invincibility and DoTs can interrupt Aid Self multiple times ; once, I managed to toggledrop myself and died while spamming it...
My strategy was to kill lieutenants and bosses first, leaving minions alone. This way, most of the 17 (aggro cap) behemoths fighting me were minions.
Near the end, one behemoth runs out of the room. That's why I stand still doing nothing, waiting for it to come back.
Many thanks to the guys talking about the Infernal challenge in the "Earth Suck?" topic, they mentioned the portal could spawn an infinite number of behemoths, which gave me the idea to do this. -
Unless you want to do it without inspirations, it seems to me a DM/Shield scrapper could pop 1 luck a minute and run a ~160 DPS chain on a SO build, assuming enough minions.
However, getting a Shield/DM tanker to decent DPS will require a heavy IO build. -
Update :
I haven't posted videos for a while, partly because the WeGame client doesn't work for me anymore since some new patch, also because I haven't done anything worth recording.
I've finalized my second build ; the goal was strong focus on DPS and +recharge, almost no defense. Results were... unexpected.
Here's the build, for reference :

I picked Energy Torrent to slot Ragnarok, but it proved to be more efficient mitigation against normal content than all of my first build, and great AoE damage with 2x BF. I can solo psi spawns on an Invincible mission set for 8 without inspirations, something I could never do before.
Unstoppable is fun, and totally pointless. In every situation I had to use it, one or two purple did the job better, and I end up having to use inspirations or wasting time running away when it crashes. Sometimes I even have to keep popping inspirations while Unstoppable is up. A 75% res cap isn't enough for this power to be worthwhile... in my opinion.
Damage is much higher for minions, lieutenants, bosses, EBs... Great for normal content. However, soloing AVs I spend so much time using inspirations, Hasten, Unstop, running away, it's barely better than my first build. I can damage AVs with 50% lethal resistance, but I haven't enough mitigation to beat any of them, except Dominatrix.
In teams, the build is great. As I mentioned, ET with a BF double stack is great damage, and good mitigation, not only for me but for everyone. As soon as I get a speed boost or adrenalin boost, I can chain BF->SS->AS with a BF triple stack on SS - by the way, a silly "trick" I'm using to make emps buff me : I keep SJ and Sprint on, run forward so I avoid their auras when they call for "gather", and don't hit Conserve Power. My endurance starts to drop, and they use AB on me.
There's lots of concept downsides. Shooting laser from my eyes on a Natural, human character doesn't make much sense. Dual Blades animations don't flow as nicely without Vengeful Slice.
The build used to have Kick for another 7.5% rech bonus and no impervium armor ; I had too much end problems so dropped Kick and put Unstop in just for kicks. Looking back, I should have got rid of the Fighting pool to pick up Maneuvers, Assault, Vengeance, taking Jump Kick instead of Unstop and slotting it with the KB set.
I've had fun trying it out for a few days, but I'm not sure the build was worth spending... uh... way too much on it. I'm one of the "buy it NOW!" crowd - we're talking billionS here. Using respec recipes to get the IOs back for another character is always an option... -
Castle could make three different T9 choices for each secondary.
One like Unstoppable/Elude (180s duration, 1000s recharge, high resistances, mez protection, HP + end crash)
One like Force of Nature (120s duration, 1000s recharge, high resistances, end crash + recovery crash)
One like Strength of Will (120s duration, 360s unenhanceable recharge, decent resistances, some end crash)
And make it like Arachnos Soldiers Venom Grenade... When you pick one, you can't pick any other.
Everyone would be fine. Oh, except Castle who would receive over nine thousand "balance concerns" PMs after this would go live. -
[ QUOTE ]
Keep in mind, fully saturating soul drain isn't easy... it's very easy to herd warewolves... but in a lot of maps, it's just impossible. And sometimes it'll get you killed. There's no way I could do it with arachnos without taking too much damage, or neuron's minions (who endurance drain... learned that the hard way)... but a tanker, maybe. Getting 3-5 is pretty normal, which is still good damage... just not that 300 number.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, I considered that, which is why I went with the 160 DPS figure. Scrappers have like 155% tanker damage (including crits), so even with the higher buff values I think in a situation where the scrapper would do 300 DPS, the tanker would do 180-190.
I think a tanker could be at the aggro cap against many factions, so when minions start dropping you still have some left.
Obviously I haven't done the math, but part of the fun for me is going with a build you think might do the trick but aren't 100% sure, and try to make it work. Also, this is a good excuse to play a different AT. -
I rolled a DM/Shield scrapper a few weeks ago, but after seeing the DPS Shadow Monkey is doing I rerolled as a tanker. If a scrapper can get to 300, it's likely a tanker could be at least over 160... and solo AVs, too.
-
Really ? Hmm... Best I can get is ~225 on a gapless BF->AS->SS->AS, using Heca proc + Achilles in AS, Arma proc + Eradication proc in SS, and Mako proc in BF, and I can't get it with any secondary. Even my SR Mids build would have a 0.06s gap, and that build wouldn't have Aid Self nor enough endurance to sustain the chain. Another SR build would have a 0.12s gap and Aid Self, dropping the DPS to 215.
I still have much to learn. -
While it isn't bad, I believe all other scrapper primaries except Spines can reach that too.
What's good about BF => Attack Vitals is it doesn't take much recharge to get there, and it has a very efficient damage per endurance ratio. You're also looking good while doing it. -
My attack chain is Blinding Feint => Attack Vitals (which is Ablating Strike, Vengeful Slice, Sweeping Strike). I have around 170 DPS with that chain ; however, it drops fast against foes with lethal resistances, as Achilles Heel -res is also being resisted.
-
Buffed EBs are fun... I couldn't help but think "what if I tried buffed AVs?"
However, "player debuff" isn't an option here. My damage output is barely enough to solo AVs as it is, I can't afford to debuff it.

His Headsplitter can hit for around 1100 damage with DoTs, and defense debuffs stack fast. I ran around a lot, to heal and to get him to switch to his bow.
Buffed Shadowhunter
Screenshots : 1 2
Video
I felt I might get hit too much without some minions, as his stone cage debuffs by 10% and recharges fast. Despite being softcapped, my life went up and down fast so I think it was a good choice.
Now this might seem a bit petty. In another topic, I got into an argument with someone about Shadowhunter's damage. I believed he could hit 3000 damage, and I was told I was wrong.
However, in this fight, his Seismic Smash doesn't always do the same damage. He hits me for 770 most of the time, but the first time he uses it, he hits me for 1034. That means if he wasn't buffed, he would have hit for (1034 x 2/3 =) 690 damage. As I have 70% S/L resistance, his damage on a target without resistance would be (690 / 0.3 =) 2300. It seems possible for Shadowhunter to do enough damage to kill a regen scrapper sidekicked (-1 to him) without Resilience, with DP up, if he isn't exactly at the HP cap or if he's still getting hit by Stone Cage's DoT at the same time (which is what I saw twice, and this is what prompted me to suppose he was doing around 3000 damage).
So... I'm wondering if anyone has a clue why does this happen. Shadowhunter doesn't seem to have a Build Up power. Could it be a specific attack, a SS clone he's only using once ? Everytime I've seen it happen, it was near the beginning of the fight, during the first minute or two.
*Edit : It seems Battlemaiden is doing the same thing... Headsplitter does 770 damage most of the time, but sometimes it does 1100. It might be the challenge setting stacking with itself for a split second, just like Invincibility, AAO and RttC do.
*Edit2 : I used the Power Analyzer on her and watched her Combat Attributes ; this is exactly what happens. It briefly stacks for half a second every minute or so. -
[ QUOTE ]
Granted, there's a big difference between a Faultline arc AV like Nocturne and a Praetorian arc AV like Infernal.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree : Nocturne is much harder than Infernal, and Praetorians tend to be easier than Faultline AVs.
That's probably not what you expected to hear, but this is how it is for my build. Most praetorians I can beat without inspirations, but I have to pop purples for any Faultline AV. -
The Red and the Black - Gaussian Arc, Unyielding
[u]Challenge settings :[u]
- No inspirations
- No deaths
- Player debuffed
- Enemies buffed
Mission 1
Video
I chose to go straight to the point ; while I killed everything that was on my way, I didn't wander around clearing the whole map.
Vengeful Slice's knockdown proved to be an invaluable tool against bosses. With enemies buffed, they hit often, and hard.
Against the boss ambush, I used hit and run tactics... as I had to escort the hostage to the door, anyway.
Mission 2
Video
The first encounter was brutal. Sefu's captors and a normal spawn. I pulled back to avoid getting buffed by Dispersion Bubble, and almost died.
Sefu managed to bubble me... I went ahead and lost him, then did a bit of useless hit and run with the boss (I already forgot about the bubble softcapping me).
Mission 3
Video
I wanted to move away from Lady Grey so she couldn't help me. Buffed minions made short work of her in about ten seconds. Oops. Mission Failed !
Mission 4
Video
Sefu is a tough one, as a buffed EB.
His repulsion field made my animations go crazy - Nimble Slash would randomly play instead of the correct one.
Mission 5
Video
Longbows are kind of a joke, in solo missions. It doesn't help that the ambushes are bugged and act as allies to the player.
Mission 6
Video
Superman has Lex Luthor, Batman has the Joker, Powerforge has Silver Mantis... and I have Dietrich. Geez, I hate Dietrich, even as an EB.
I didn't want to clear the whole mission and skipped most of the spawns. I ended up skipping too much and had to go back to the same places multiple times...
Final time : 0:43:31
This is the first time I ran an arc with player debuffed / enemies buffed, and it was fun ; in my opinion, it's a good way to make regular missions challenging without turning it into the slugfest that is your average AV fight. Buffed EBs, in particular, feel just right. With +50% acc and dam, their offense seems as good as AVs, and unlike AVs they haven't godlike hitpoints. -
As far as I'm concerned, anything about Invul is on topic.
It keeps the forum monster from eating the thread, which is another plus. -
It seems to me even with perma DP, +maxHP can still have some use as you can hold off using DP and use it as a big emergency heal when needed. It's definitely not something I'd build for, but it's not totally wasted either.
(For the record, I'm a "he")

Pylon + RWZ Challenge

Doing the challenge Werner was talking about - defeating a pylon while a RWZ challenge spawn is attacking you. Two chief mesmerists, one chief soldier, one or two chief mentalist(s) (I can't remember exactly) and one conscript. It wasn't too tough once all riktis were in melee range. -

My goal was to jump in and fight all three at the same time, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to handle them without minions around, even if only for a few seconds. I tried to pull them to a corner with minions ; unfortunately, Maestro didn't follow.
The fight goes pretty fast ; level 39 archvillains have lower regen (because of their lower HP), and Oppressive Gloom lowers Requiem hit points further.

I grabbed him, then went back to my corner. End management started to be troublesome.
Vandal

I had to wait for end a lot, but as he's the weaker of the three, it was no big deal.
Even with inspirations, Nosferatu was a no go. Auto-hit damage and debuff aura, and reconstruction, while I haven't CP or Aid Self? Ouch... -
Will do. I'm lazy, though, so I'm just going to copy and paste.
Daolong, you rock. If it wasn't for your advice about minions and Invincibility, I might still be struggling against easy AVs like Battle Maiden instead of doing that stuff. Also used your idea to use Council minions against Rommie, as you can see. -
Capt. W. M. Dietrich

First, I rushed in. No go : her web grenade hits too much, and then she flies around. I couldn't damage her enough. So, I tried pulling her in one of these narrow corridors, but she still ran too much. Ran so much that, in fact, she ran into a Vanguard boss.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and the rest is history.

His defense debuffs forced me to jump around when I was hit twice in a row. Other than that, it was fine.

Unlike Unai Kemen's Requiem, he's strong, using dark melee/dark blast powers.
Summoning Nictus
No screenshots
Video
The hardest part about this fight was aggroing the specific Nictus I wanted and Romulus at range, while not alerting the other two Nictus (Nictii? Eh, I'm going to go with Nictus anyway), as I can't handle the autohit Nictus and Romulus at the same time. I played with the aggro cap to get the Nictus I wanted, after that there's a very specific range at which Romulus will aggro but his Nictus remain passive, regardless if you're at the aggro cap or not.
It took a lot of trial and error.
Healing Nictus
No screenshots
Video
The fight takes longer, as it heals itself, but it was easier to set up as I had experience with the first Nictus.
Autohit Nictus
No screenshots
Videos :1 2
Incredibly hard.
First, pulling the Autohit Nictus while not aggroing Romulus. This is very, very tough. If the Autohit Nictus uses his AoE attack and Romulus is in range, he'll be alerted. If Romulus gets too far away from the Nictus, the Nictus will run back to him. There's a sweet spot at which the Nictus won't go back to Romulus, while Romulus stays unaware of the situation, but it's really short. A few feet too close or too far, and either the Nictus runs back to Rom or Rom aggroes.
And this is what makes the fight so hard. In order to do enough damage, I can't spend all the time healing ; eventually, I have to kite. If I jump too early, the Nictus will move towards me and might go too far from Rom, thus heading back to him. If I jump too late, the Nictus hits me and I lose DPS for nothing. If I don't jump in a perfect line, I might aggro Romulus (it happened twice on previous attempts).
My strategy was to attack as much as possible, as long as I had enough HP to sustain the next hit ; this way, I could leverage Blinding Feint stacking. When I was low on HP, I used Aid Self and kited at the same time.
This was my best fight, and I think the video is pretty entertaining, too. I almost died multiple times, especially near the end.
Nictus Romulus
Screenshots : 1 2

While the Autohit Nictus was the big fight, Nictus Romulus is no joke himself. Negative damage, defense debuffs, Siphon Life, Soul Drain, he's got it all.
Thankfully, as you can see on the other videos, it's easy to keep him locked at range. I started the fight in melee, but as ambushes came it moved from there and I killed my Council buddies fueling Invinc, so I kept him at range.
This is it, solo ITF without inspirations. It took 6 hours over 2 days, and it was worth every minute of it.
Edit : It seems WeGame doesn't like videos over 15 minutes, I'll upload the missing parts soon. -
I don't remember doing anything special. Did you make sure you enabled sound recording in video settings ?

I can see how it'd be different coming from a SR or WP, but being Invul spending most of my slots to get defense is all I'm used to, I wouldn't know what I'm missing. There are benefits to be a newbie.

She's a psi AV, I had to use purples. It's not a very interesting fight to watch, all she does is Psi Scream - Dominate over and over.

The first time, she got lucky ; this time, I got lucky. She didn't hit me much, and her Unstop crashed to 10% right away.

The hardest part about this fight was gathering enough minions. On that map, spawn points are like thirty miles away from each other.
It's amazing how tough softcapping makes you, especially if you stack high HP and some resistances on top of it. It makes me think shield scrappers must be really fun to play against AVs ; too bad there's not many videos of them around... at least, not that I've seen. -
More AVs.

Now, that was a fun fight. It's also my longest one so far, lasting over 17 minutes. I kept one purple on at all times, and it took me four attempts - with inspirations ; I've had three more attempts with minions before that, but Arachnos minions are too annoying. Crabs lower your defense, Mu sap your end, fortunatas are psi, tarentulas are too big to fit in melee. Banes are the only ones who don't do anything bad.
On a previous run, Soul Storm hit me while I was at full HP with DP on. Thanks to the passive resistances, I didn't die from it, and managed to live during 20 more seconds. Unfortunately, another attack killed me before I could break out of the hold. I'm thinking living through Soul Storm must be possible if I hold onto DP and use it right as it hits me. -
Hey Ehina,
I could be wrong but I believe you were playing Radhina, a rad defender. We sure had fun on Lynx's teams - to be fair, it wasn't hard making Inv look good with her tanking and your debuffs.
I don't monitor too many stats, it'd confuse me more than anything. I like having just these 3. Smashing defense and to-hit bonus so I can see when I'm debuffed (defense debuffs tend to debuff all defense), hit points so I know when to heal, it's all I need.
