Here's a suggestion for you, go to the auction house and buy the temp. power "ethereal shift"; a 5 use CLICK (not toggle, so it isn't affected by the crash) phase shift power. When unstoppable is about to drop click on the temp power... you'll have 30 seconds to get your hp/end/toggles back up before the power expires.
That sounds like it would be useful. I'm not sure if the benefit of that temp power can outweigh my tendency to not use powers that don't fit my 'concept' (I've made a few impractical decisions based on that before) but thanks for the suggestion.

At the moment it's a fairly basic IO build, without procs, but again, interesting idea.

    Next one is tomorrow.
  3. I've been playing WoW again recently.

Now I keep trying to loot the bodies of defeated Hellions and expect to get a mission where the contact asks me to bring them the head of the enemy boss.

Actually, now that I think about it, there's a couple of redside contacts whom I really could see asking for the severed head of their enemy. Angelo Vendetti for one...
  4. Thanks for the explanations. My mistake was in thinking that Unstoppable had the same -Recovery as Elude, the only other Tier 9 defensive power I'm familiar with.

The perfectly timed tick of End recovery does seem to happen quite often - happened again last night. Not exactly to be relied on though.

Odd. It still says -100% endurance on self after 3m 0s delay.

The description "almost all" is definitely new though, and I've ran Unstop twice and not had my toggles drop, which they always always did before.

Edit: now I'm really confused. Just tested it twice out of combat and both times End flatlined and the toggles dropped
  6. I was playing my SS/Inv brute earlier today on Test and was pleasantly surprised when the Unstoppable crash left me with enough End to keep my toggles up. Checking the info I see it's now saying "drained of almost all health and endurance."

I'd thought it was an I16 change, so I was pleasantly surprised to log into the live servers and see the same description

I'm just curious to when it was changed.

Not that I'm complaining. I was a bit underwhelmed when I hit 38 and tried Unstoppable for the first time, seeing as losing almost all your health AND having your defensive toggles drop at the same time was pretty near a death sentence if you were still in a fight, and far more punishing than the crash of say Elude.

    *squeeee* i16 :D

    What timing...

I'd defected to WoW for a few weeks to beat the post-50 blues, but the Barrens has been sapping my will to level for 3 days now, so any excuse to come back to City will be taken.

Always planning, always plotting, always with bigger ideas, and he manages to use steam power to produce superior technology than everyone else. AND he is reserved for the upper-level game, because his forces are both too secretive and too deadly to be unleashed on a level 1 enemy. I am not, nor have I ever been, in favour of dumbing down big bads and their minions so that new players can fight them right out the gate. It takes away from their mystique and the sense of power. Rikti Invasions are TERRIBLE for that, because people start fighting "the greatest threat the world has ever seen" as soon as they step into Atlas Park.
On the other hand, after my first experience of Rikti invasions I couldn't wait to get to the RWZ. The taste of fighting them at level 8 or 10 left me very eager to take them on at their natural level.

I've done very very few Nemesis missions - picking the wrong contacts I suppose. The first encounter I did have with them though was the rather brilliant Automatic Villainy, which is one of my favourite arcs in all of CoV.

Generally I'm just not fussed about Champions. I always preferred Villains and Vigilantes

There is also a choice of whether to treat Archvillains like Elite Bosses.
Is it too much to hope for that this will also apply to TFs/SFs?
  10. Kadabra Kill was a pain to take down with my MM (second only to the Sea Witch in that level range) by my SS/Inv brute beat him senseless with no effort at all. I've found I'm more likely to rerun the harder arcs like Darrin Wade's, because it's interesting to see how different ATs and power combinations deal with the tougher content.

That, and it's really satisfying to beat the hell out of an enemy who gave a previous character a really hard time. Now if only I could roll a character who could do that to the Sea Witch...

Very very true. Just recently when running a mission against Arachnos mid-fight part of my brain was tallying up all the different damage types that were being thrown at me.

So that's smashing, lethal, fire, electrical (with End drain), energy, psi... all at the same time.

That's not to say CoH doesn't have it's share of nasty opponents - Vahzilok with their stacked slows, toxic vomit and You Die NOW exploding zombies are just nasty given that they're one of the first enemy groups lowbie heroes encounter - but that's the exception rather than the rule. Not to mention CoV's Elite-Boss-of-the-Day mission style post 35 or so.

I wonder, when Going Rogue comes out, will redside ATs be overpowered against typical blueside content? Will blueside ATs be underpowered against typical redside?

thats level 1 to 50 in the time it took me to get 4-5 levels.

    How is this possible?
What I find amazing is that noone in this thread has commented on the fact that the OP finds it hard to believe you can get from 1 to 50 in 4 hours, but seems to think it's normal to get from 40 to 44 in the same 4 hours.

I'm betting this entire conversation took place in the AE building...
  13. This should have been the I15 SF.
  14. My first heroside 50 is a Claws/SR scrapper. By the late game Rularuu were about the only enemy group in the game that she didn't devastate every single time, and although there were times I enjoyed the sheer power and survivability, there were a lot more times when, after a mission or two, I'd switch to a more interesting character.

Enter mission > run to first group of enemies > cycle attack chain until they die > repeat until mission complete.

This was most noticeable when I was soloing, when the mob spawns are at their most predictable. Ironic that the supreme soloing AT turns out to be the least interesting to solo.

I think it's justified at least within Indigo and Crimson's arcs - after all, the Malta Group could be tapping your phone.
  16. Dual Pistols/Poison Corruptor, because when Going Rogue is released and I remake my Thugs MM on a new server I'd like her to have the same powersets.

Noxious Gas would need tweaking of course, but just imagine if you could cast it on a player brute rather than a pet...
  17. I'd found myself getting very very bored with the early 40s heroside - after the seemingly endless succession of near identical defeat alls in The Terra Conspiracy the seemingly endless succession of near identical defeat alls in Tina McIntyre's missions reduced my scrapper's progress to a crawl.

Thankfully A Hero's Hero is better, but really the Praetorian arcs are showing their age, and hopefully they'll be revamped for Going Rogue.

Villain Dev content from the early 30's on up is "What EB(s)/AV(s) will you fight today?"
My /Inv brute lives in terror of the day when the words "defeat Sister Psyche" show up on the mission screen.

Is it my imagination or are the redside EBs a lot tougher than most of the heroside EBs? My scrapper shredded every single Praetorian on the first attempt (well, except Malaise, but he got lucky) but the Freedom Phalanx, Vindicators and Arachnos Patrons and their flunkies usually KO my villains at least once.

It's reassuring that I'm not the only one that gets the post-50 blues. In the couple of weeks since I took my first hero to 50 I've logged into CoH a lot less. Instead I've tried Warhammer on a trial and even resubbed to WoW for the first time in 6 months.

I do rather like WoW, but based on previous experience I'll tire of it in two or three weeks, just in time for my current sub to CoH to run out... or get renewed.
  19. A quick fix for the AE:

Deactivate ALL the Police Drones in Atlas Park...

...then switch the door of the Kronos Titan ambush mission from Founders Falls to just across the street from the AE building.
  20. I love my SS/Inv. Her fury fuelled rampages make even the most mundane missions interesting. KO Blow is great. Foot Stomp is awesome. Unstoppable is... wow that's a killer crash... um, I mean Unstoppable is... um, not quite as godly as Elude is on my /SR. I'll get used to it I suppose.

But... Psi attacks just tear me to bits. I got the Elusive Mind accolade during the last Rikti Invasion weekend, but it only lasts 60 seconds with a 25 minute recharge.

So, are there any IOs that I can slot that will make psi attacks a little less deadly?
  21. SS/Inv.

I'd forgotten that you could take a different set of powers, though I doubt I would. I'm a bit of a purist in that respect.
  22. My brute just hit 38, so I'm only a few fury filled hours from Grandville and a new Patron Arc. My first high level villain went with Ghost Widow, and I don't want a mace for this character, so Black Scorpion is out.

I'm very tempted to go with Mako, just for Throw Fish, but I've heard Scirroco's story arc is good.

    Any suggestions?
