Aw man...
I -just- rescue my friend from the Rikti and now this happens.
Don't you people know it's all just a Nemesis Plot?!
Hro'Dtohz: Action: Previous: Lied!
Viva: La Revolution! -
As a Virtuevian (GOOOOOOO CATGIRLS!) and someone who has yet to get trenchcoats yet... (Even though I got the game late September and it's already January...) I find that getting involved in community events helps a ton.
I had two very lucky breaks on Virtue my first day there.
- The Cape was having a show in Mercy Island by Kalinda, which in turn got me a Global Channel invite which eventually lead to many hilarious adventures. (Such as Strike Force: FABULOUS! in which GM_V_Franklin had to look at my huge SS/WP Brute in a manthong and cowboy boots as he tried to figure out why the mission was stuck in a loop... Don't ask, it was a new years thing. There were drinking game rules, even.)
- I was grabbed and dragged into an RP situation in the Pocket D by the leader of a very large SG that just so happened to fit my character concept entirely, which lead to my meeting most of my friends on the server.
I realize roleplay isn't for everyone. (As someone who thrives off storytelling, it's perfect for me, but not so perfect for others) But finding your "niche" in the game is important.
Also, running up and grabbing people who haven't found their niche is also really important. If Chel just ignored my toon (who is 8 feet tall with all the body sliders up so he's kind of hard to miss), then I would have probably never gotten to 50. CoH is seriously the first MMO I've played in which I've reached the level cap. (I couldn't even get to Outland in WoW, Maple Story and it's ilk are right out, and I bought my rings in zOMG so that doesn't really count persay...)
...But yeah. If you see a new player, go up and interact with them. Especially if they can spell! -
Here's what I think...
When GR comes out, supergroups will become neutral. You can have one that leans toward "hero" or "villain", but for the most part they'll be just a group of players.
That is the easiest way to do it, IMO. Leave the policing to the SG Leaders.
As for portal useage, perhaps something similar to this idea could be used.
A player can access those zones as long as they're teamed, after which they're teleported to their proper region. -
-
CoV is extremely linear in comparison to CoH.
So every villain always goes Mercy-> Oakes -> Cap -> Sharkhead -> Nerva -> Martial -> Grandville.
However, at level 35 you can deviate and focus on RWZ or Cimerora, but other than that there's not much deviation. -
We mess up Space Time all the time in Ouroboros.
Look at Mender Silos's TF and SF.
They have opposing goals.
In one, you prevent Lord Recluse from taking over Paragon City. In the other, you help him.
I'm seriously expecting the Coming Storm to blow in and Ouroboros to be revamped by GR...
Congrats on saving Breakneck though! -
I haven't met any GMs.
But I have met (and held a brief conversation with) Ocho, who did show up in St. Martial on his Tanker to pass out gold titles for Real World Hero donors. -
...I'd Vote Arbie to be a Dev though. Even though he's not.
I also remember finding it funny that people thought you were using Dual Pistols for real, since... you know... said powerset would actually have to be patched in first... -
Quote:And a way to get rid of old clues please! It is if, say for Marshall Brass, you start a few missions with him, go do something else, and then come back.
You are STUCK with him permanantly in your contacts list, permanantly giving out low conning missions, and no way of telling him to, kindly, go find someone else to do the work he can't do himself. ()
Option to drop outlevelled contacts, not just missions. Kthnxbai.
I did the first Peter Themari mission, read ahead, determined that I didn't really want to finish and now I'm stuck with that clue for the rest of my life... -
I only said the Pocket D VIP Pass because it immediately came to mind. (Since I am a Virtue...vian.. or something, and I do indeed use it frequently because The Cape is awesome.)
But Mission Transporters, Black Market/Wentworths Transporters, even the Ouroboros Portal (If for whatever reason Ouroboros is full...) all of the "Let's go from one zone to another really really fast" powers could benefit from this. -
Well, it could be applied to -any- teleport power, I think.
Like Mission Transporter, for one.
And, I mean... adding an NPC that can switch instances for you in every zone would be great. -
This... has kind of been annoying me lately...
The Pocket D VIP Pass is incredibly convenient, yes. But it doesn't allow you to select which instance of Pocket D you wish to go to.
If at all possible, could we please add instance selectors to all Teleporter Powers? Or at least a way to switch between zone instances directly? -
Waaaaaaaay too Hardcore for me.
Just out of curiosity... How do the RWZ and Cimorea play into this?
Neither of their hospitals are run by law enforcement, and neither Vanguard nor the Midnight Squad are really buddy buddy with Longbow...
Plus I'm pretty sure Levantera would forcibly slap a beacon onto you the second you took a mission from her...
...Or laugh, otherwise.
I mean, there's nothing to stop you from extending the rules there, It's just a canon loophole I noticed. XD -
Last night, during an RP Session, one character called another character a "Loyalist C***". They both happened to be Praetorian, so I assumed they were talking about Emperor Cole/Tyrant.
...Turns out they were also both Irish.
...Still a good Canon insult though. -
I live in Florida.
We don't get snow. We get retirees... -
-
Man, I don't have a proper reference...
But I do have a bitchin' screen shot.
Vincent Morse (MA/SR Stalker/Scrapper)
Once a normal human, Vincent Morse was kidnapped by the mad scientist Dr. Jonas Viatro (played by @Heronator) and subjected to a modified version of the modified Snake Venom that created "Ssalassar" Bartlett (Also played by @Heronator. If he shows up here you should draw him, seriously.)
Transformed into a hybrid of Human and Snake, Vincent is a 7 foot tall, 400 pound, chronically angry beast that will pound you into the floor for even looking at him funny.
Of course, if you manage to get on his good side, he can be one of the most loyal and protective (if surly) friends you could wish for.
Just... good luck getting on his good side... -

I have never seen ERP in all my time on Virtue.
I know it's there. I've just never seen it. Probably because most people have the sense not to do it in public.
(I get this strange mental image of a couple clearing a newspaper mission, and then all of the sudden the male gets all /em pushup over the female...)
Also, I love hanging out in the Virtue Pocket D. Not to roleplay, but to watch other people roleplay. I have gotten into some interesting (and actually good!) RP that way. But then there was that time my Rikti Dom almost lost 1d100 SAN from that Eldrich Horror that was floating around... -
Virtue.
We have a radio station.
...And our Pocket D has PEOPLE IN IT. -
Quote:The Doc Buzzsaw Opening missions for example. You "Repo" cybernetics.Actually, there are some CoV mission texts that either outwardly state that you're killing someone or which strongly imply killing
Some victims are already dead, but the rest you explicitly kill.
(Admittedly, the people you do kill are Council, Arachnos, and Freakshow, but still...)
And the souvenir calls it an "innocuous" task. -
Quote:I'm an RPer, and it's only on my "Good Guy" toons.Wait you people actually get upset or change it in your mind as to what your doing in villain mishes!?!?
I have about... 5 Villains. One is about as close to Lawful Good as a Redside toon can get, one is Chaotic Good (I.E. If she thinks it's for the greater good, she'll do it. This is going to bite her in the *** in a few months), one is Neutral Good, One is True Neutral because he doesn't know any better (or worse), and one is Chaotic Neutral with a serious anger problem.
I can't do evil... yet the opening Blueside areas drive me mad in comparison... -
As a long time player of Heroic Villains, I have a few recommendations...
First, I always replace the words "Kidnap" and "Steal" in newspaper missions with "Rescue" and "Recover", since they're almost identical to the blueside missions.
I'd also highly recommend Hardcase's Arc. There's only one remotely evil act in that arc, where you put a Demon Attracting Device in the sewers underneath Paragon City. (I RPed it as putting it under a Crey Lab, so it worked out)
Choose Kalinda as your starting contact. She leads to Mongoose, who has a Bank Robbery as his open mission, but is otherwise fairly benign. Doctor Geist has missions where you kidnap homeless people to turn into infected.
Peter Themari is also a definite one to avoid, as the person you corrupt eventually becomes a victim of the Devouring Earth. For your Cap Au Diable Arcs, I'd recommend Shelly Percey provided you skip the mission where you steal an antidote, and then either do "O Wretched Man" when you're 15.
Johnny Sonata isn't so bad. Ties in well with Hardcase. (In fact, Sonata and Hardcase will carry you through most of St. Martial and the 40s.)
When you're short on arcs, There's always AE, The RWZ and Cimerora (After 35) and Newspaper Missions. -
One of the AE Tips explicitly says you can use it to level from 1-50.

Quote:It's not even on the shelves in most places anymore either...I still hold that the CoX Marketing team are Fail.
Seriously, I have NEVER seen an advert for Cityof in the wider world or web. EVER. The only reason I ever knew it existed was because, thankfully. my older bro played it for a while when I was younger, and let me make a character. Eventually, when I was old enough to tell my parents 'F U, I'm buying this,' I hunted down a box set and got it.
Maybe the US has it on the shelves more, I dunno. But CoX is non-existant on EU/British shelves, except a very old, DvD only version of GvE once in a while.
No posters, no adverts, not even google ads. I've seen a few google ads from the other Superhero MMO, why in the name of frag have the marketing team not done anything as simple as that?!
/despair
Target doesn't even carry it, and they only had one copy of the Architect Edition at Gamestop...
