Knight'Hawk is actually supposed to be me if I were to live in a universe where we had superheroes. I actually started writing a little story for him not long before I started playing CoH, and the character I imagined, on the outside, would be somewhat inspired by Batman. I've started to realize that on a personal level, I'm not all the different from Spider-man. By day, I'm just an average dude, real shy and quiet, extremely nerdy, kinda clumsy, not really gifted in any one thing (except science maybe). By night (or rather by the time I get online or somewhere I'm really comfortable), I'm funny with a really bad use of puns, sarcasm, irony, and one-liners; gifted in crime fighting, use of the Force, saving the universe from Borg, Reapers, or zombies, or I'm a superstar racecar driver depending on my mood. So, there's a lot of Spider-man influence in Knight'Hawk's personality, cause I think my own personality is heavily influenced by my favorite superhero from when I was a kid (does that make me crazy or something...?
).
The name Knight'Hawk came about because "Nighthawk" was already taken....
Seriously though, in my backstory, he's Nighthawk cause 1) my lack of creativity struck and decided to name him after my favorite TV dinner and 2) I've always been a fan of the various stealth aircraft used by the USAF; specifically the F-117 Nighthawk.
That's one thing I've always loved about this game was that I don't have to "try" to RP. There is no OOC speak for me, because Knight'Hawk "is me". Other games I have to get into character, here (or CO or DCUO) I am in-character just by hitting "Log In". What puts CoH over the other two is that one of them is pretty well closed off as far as how far you can take your character's story and it's more like a vacation for me/him, the other is just really, really, corny. CoH has always seemed to take itself more seriously and it's always seemed more "believable" (sorry for the quick compare-and-contrast, but it's sorta part of the ever-continuing story for my character). That's something I hope doesn't change in this "new era of Freedom."
I hope that reads a lot better than it looks like it will. If not, sorry. It's 2 AM here, so I'll clean it up later if need be. -
That's unfortunate. I thought he captured the spirit of Uncle Ben perfectly. I know the pics in the article aren't that recent (the posters look like Spider-man 2, so 2005ish?), but still he didn't look all that bad for a guy in his 80s.

Well that's good. At least that's one part of my childhood not totally destroyed......yet.

Quote:Let me just say that I agree, and find this whole thing stupid. I would like to go further, but I'd probably be receiving an email from Mod05.I do.
I miss the good old days where we could just eat stuff because we liked it, without worrying about every little thing in it. Sugar is almost a dirty word now.
I can't find any gum to chew anymore because nobody will use sugar and I refuse to buy any with Aspartame.
On a semi-related note, I've heard that Sesame Street has renamed the Cookie Monster as the "Carrot Monster". Is that really true? -
My first toon, is my current main: Knight'Hawk. I don't focus on best builds, combos and all that; I had an idea for a hero in mind, and a MA/SR Scrapper fit the bill.

I just saw the Dracula movie last night. Not bad, I'm guessing it takes place between Seasons 1 and 3 somewhere. I noticed a couple of parallels to Mask of the Phantasm (not sure if that was intentional or what), but it was pretty good.

Quote:I don't think he/she was talking about CO specifically. What do you mean 6 months later? They detonated the atomic nerf bomb the day the game launched. Pissed off a ton of the people that bought Lifetime subs and they refunded a good portion of them to disgruntled customers that immediately cancelled their subscriptions.
Anyway, I agree that LTSs wasn't what killed CO, and doesn't mean immediate death for any game. The nerf you mentioned and the fact that CO wasn't really that great to begin with is what killed it. STO had a similar situation in that it was horrible at launch, but so far it seems they got their stuff together fast enough to save the game. -
Quote:I have no idea. I've yet to see a commercial that says what happened to it, and the website didn't have anything on it either.I love that show too
when does it air now? I was dissapointed that it wasn't on Thursday night.
Quote:I knew The Cape was going to be cancelled ever since I saw the premier.
Bob's Burgers looks cheap, people dont watch cheap shows, even if they may be good (never watched it)
Now that that's done, Family Guy has gotten a bit odd. the only way I can describe it is that the show has lost something.I saw one episode of Bob's Burgers and wasn't impressed. Reminded me of the 30 seconds I watched of Beevus and Butthead (never understood why people found that show so funny); same creator too if I'm not mistaken. The animation looks the same.

Quote:Plus Frakkin OneWhile he's certainly putting himself in danger, if more people took an interest in helping others maybe he wouldn't have too.
The fact is, people get hurt and killed, and everyone from all sides is just saying "Don't do anything, or you'll get hurt too." It's nice to see someone who'd rather get hurt themselves rather than let someone else get hurt while they do nothing. -
Hope this hasn't been posted already, just kinda skimmed the last two pages. Scientists have apparently discovered that thunderstorms actually create anti-matter.

Quote:I actually didn't see that, totally forgot about it. And that's an "oops" on the Ragdoll and Cluemaster deal. I'd never seen or heard of either of those two, and even looked in the DC wiki and didn't see them mentioned just so I wouldn't look like an idiot.And... I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually thought the "vs. Dracula" movie was kinda cool, too.
The only TBATB episode I could stand long enough to watch the whole way through was the one where he confronts Joe Chill. That one was actually pretty good. -
Well you had to figure The Cape was gone. It's gotten better, but I never really expected it to last that long anyway. It might have had a better chance on Syfy. Not surprised L&O: LA is on the chopping block either. And honestly, it's hard for a show to keep viewers on CBS cause THEY KEEP FRAKKIN CHANGING WHEN THEY AIR!!!!
Personally, I love $#*! My Dad Says. I have a feeling that's how I'm going to be in my 70s, so it's like seeing my future self.
They also failed to mention that apparently, Two and a Half Men is done, due to Charlie Sheen....well, being Charlie Sheen (though I'm pretty sure that's not going to be a permanent deal).
I'm glad to see Southland isn't on that list though. That is an awesome show. -
My post in the Firefly thread reminded me of this. Thanks to the awesome service that is Netflix, I finally got around to watching The Batman in its entirety. Overall, I thought it was a pretty decent show. I liked the first two seasons a lot more than the last three; although I did like this take on Dick as Robin. For a while I thought Yin was going to become a bit of a love interest for Bruce, possibly even become Batwoman.
I wasn't real impressed with a lot of the villain make-overs though. The Riddler and Scarface being the top two that come to mind, and the Penguin got rather annoying. Then there's the fact that there's no Two-Face, Scarecrow, Mad Hatter, or Ra's al Ghul, but a bunch of "made-up" guys like Ragdoll (my guess is he's supposed to be a more "PC" Scarecrow) and the Cluemaster.
I thought I'd share my thoughts on this series; it's certainly not as epic as TAS was but definitely not as bad as TBATB is. I'm also curious as to other people's opinions on this series. -
Quote:That reminds me (not that I expect many here pay much attention to this channel) but CMT has also done that as well. In fact, now it basically is MTV with the occasional showing of country music videos. I've also noticed that it seems Boomerang is starting show more recent cartoons as well. The Batman, and Ben 10, to name a couple. How long until Flapjack, and Adventure Time end up over there?Indeed. MTV and VH1 with the avoidance of music videos has long been a cliche. AMC showing recent movies also decided to pitch their raison d'etre over the side.
One is left wondering what the point of having 200 channels is if specialty channels are going the way of the dodo. I guess at least the Food network does stick to it's subject, though if I see one more cupcake show, I'm really going to freak.
Nericus, I think it's time we start playing the Mega Millions lottery. -
Frieza: ".... Not to mention I lost Dodoria and Zarbon, the latter of whom spent 400 credits making long-distance calls to his girlfriend; who I am convinced is named 'Chuck'."

Quote:This is happening to just about every channel that started with a "focus". Cartoon Network now shows live-action shows and movies, Sci-Fi became Syfy and now shows wrestling and seems to be trying to get away from just science-fiction based shows. History Channel for the most part seems to show stuff that has a long history attached to it, not history itself. SPEED channel used to show a lot of racing from European road races, to local short tracks in the U.S. Now it's just a bunch of bs shows vaguely related to racing, with the occasional Australian V8 Supercar races, sports car races (ALMS, Rolex, etc), and of course most of the NASCAR weekend (not that I'm complaining about thatPersonally I see this more as a sign that the Science Channel is going to pot. I mean is it really impossible to make a channel focused on science stay on science? They are already getting pretty damned sketchy with extraneous things like Idiots Abroad, but really this is pushing it. They seem to be going the way of The Learning Channel.
I imagine the ghost shows are inevitable.).
It's irritating. -
I have a friend that's going to love this news (assuming she gets the Science Channel). I finally saw the whole series sometime last year.
I hate FOX now. -
Quote:I think "technically" it's still Cartoon Network, but from what I've seen lately all you ever see is "CN". Probably because they started running live-action shows. Kinda like how Sci-Fi became Sy.....Sy....S....y.....I can't even say it. Anyway, they changed their name so they could show non-science fiction stuff and not get a crapload of hate mail.Wait you mean Cartoon Network calls itself CN and that isn't just an abbreviation? Sheesh I haven't watched for a Looooong time I guess.
-
Hmm....I really don't know. As an animated character, I could see Will Friedle (Batman Beyond, as mentioned before) doing the voice work for Knight'Hawk (since he was loosely based on Terry, to begin with). Considering Knight'Hawk's age, at least when he first started, Loren Lester (Robin/Nightwing in Batman TAS) would also work.
-
I agree, this was a really good episode. At least he finally kept his freaking mask/hood on.
-
Quote:CN started going downhill for me when it started calling itself "CN".... Honestly, IMO cartoons and animation started going down when Spongebob got popular. To be honest I haven't watched TV in months. I watch anime online but my tv beside the computer sits there unused. CN started going downhill when they destroyed Adult Swim.
YIKES!!! AND AWAAAAAAAY.... -

EDIT: Wow. Soon as I hit the "post" button, the forum logged me out....
