Reeve's Superman was what I had in mind when I dressed up as him for Halloween one year. Just that fact that when he passed, news outlets used the line "the death of Superman" should tell you what kind of impression he made on people as "The Man of Steel". I doubt the same would be said of Routh, Dean Cain, or the new guy from the upcoming movie (Tom Welling might get it just based on how long he played Kent) when their time comes.

Quote:I've always gotten the impression from other gaming communities and the gaming media that CoX's focus on 1-50 instead of post-50 was a bad thing, and I've never understood why. I know that's how other MMOs work, but why is all the cool stuff at post-level cap considered better than having all the cool stuff from level 1-level cap?Never saw much of a point on power leveling. There is a certain fulfillment behind growing up with a character and taking them through different storylines that other toons haven't. It gives them a sort of personality that I didn't expect, and relationships with NPCs that I didn't plan for.
Also, Ourobos just kind of feels forced and locked in. I can't just stop and do something else: I have to do the whole Ourobos arc, or quit halfway through and start again if I want to do something else.
This game just wasn't made for power leveling, it was always about the journey from 1-50, roll an alt, and do it again. Even better was that, until recently, you didn't have to do it the same way every time. Your intro arcs were based on your origin. Now, EVERYONE goes through the same process of Habashy, (can't remember the next ones), Thiery, Twinshot, etc. and same for redside. Speaking of, I just recently started a villain alt running the new intro stuff for them, and was somewhat disappointed/irked to discover that (at least up to the point I'm at) it's the same intro Blueside has just with an "evil" slant.
Sorry for the OT tirade. I know the OP wasn't really talking about PL'ing to 50, then running Oro. I just started to respond, and the next thing I know ^ that's what my fingers coughed out. -
First, I find using Oro more annoying than bouncing around from contact to contact, zone to zone. As much as I want to do the First Ward stuff on my main, I just can't stand Oro enough to go through all 7 parts. I kinda wish there was a way to just pick "Night Ward" in the list of arcs, and be able to run parts 1-7 straight through.
And second, as others have said, I'm more entertained by the journey to 50 than actually getting to 50. -
Now that my main is working towards his Alpha, and running through DA, I kinda miss the "simpler times" of beating up on Sky Raiders, Council, Tsoo (though they are in DA), and some others. 20-40 was where I had the most fun.

Just picked up Batman: Earth One myself. Definitely an interesting take on his origin. I like the costume too.
I personally couldn't get into the New 52 stuff, try as I might. But since it appears you've grabbed a couple of things from just before the reboot, let me recommend Red Robin. The good news: it's awesome, the bad news: you'll be disappointed in pretty much everything else you read.
I've turned to Marvel for my comic kick until if/when DC ever puts out something worth reading. ASM's decent, and I'm really enjoying Scarlet Spider. I've also been reading Capt America's latest books and that's been enjoyable. I'd suggest looking through some of those as well. -
Quote:Yep. But of course in 2012 it's not the actor's fault he/she acted, it's comics, or music, or video games, or movies....or someone/thing else's fault that the actor acted. The actor wouldn't have acted if it weren't for these things/people....give me a break.Well, in all fairness, hindsight is 20/20. You reverse engineer a crime, you're bound to see all the things that fell through the cracks that led up to the event. Same thing with 9/11. Upon inspection there were a handful of "red flags" that should have caught our attention but either there was too much information to sift through or it never got to the right person/ people. Blaming the psychiatrist for sitting on something he didn't know he had isn't productive. In the end it's the shooter and the shooter alone who's responsible.
Considering he bought a lot of his equipment online, and *puts on tin foil hat* we're all being watched, you'd have thought him buying all those weapons, explosives, and body armor would've gotten someone's attention, right?
Quote:and here's the first crackpot conspiracy...
people assuming the Illuminati and Lil' Wayne had something to do with the shooting as depicted by 12 skeletons shown sitting in a movie theater in Wayne's new music video "My Homies Still" that came out the day before the actual shooting.
My head hurts -_-
Well, the first, I chalked up to the fact that his school ID photo is bad quality, and if nothing else, there are such things as colored contact lenses. As far as the nose thing, I did an experiment. Went to a mirror, put on my biggestand wouldn't you know it my nose stretched out.
The point of the whole thing is to try to put forth the idea that the guy sitting in prison isn't the guy who shot up the theater....or something along those lines. I love conspiracy theorists..... -
Since the hospital scene in TDK (although in this case it's a wig).

Quote:I was more referring to the jumbled mess of text than the content, but nevertheless....What? Hold the "media" to standards in reporting instead of letting them embellish stories as long as they apologize with a retraction later?
That's, that's just crazy talk. -
Quote:Jeez, does anyone proofread those Yahoo articles?News media makes my head hurt so bad.... evidently the OP corrected herself.... but still...
So now this guy supposedly showed up in full Joker attire? Since when is riot armor the outfit Heath Ledger wore in TDK and since when was his hair red? No wonder no one really trusts the news media anymore....
I'm assuming when they say his hair was painted red it's in reference to the hospital scene in TDK where the Joker is posing as a red-headed nurse before he blows the place sky high. -
Quote:I hear ya. Being the midnight premier of a Batman movie I would expect there to have been more than a few people dressed up in costume; I'm sure it would've been pretty cool to see (or hear about) Batman/men swooping in and subduing the guy in some way.Y'know, right about now I'm really wishing I had even ONE of the powers that any of my characters have.
Gunman: *pulls out weapon*
Me: *grabs the gunman with Lift and slams him into the ceiling* (or for the nonviolent route, Gravity Field)

Good to hear one of our own is ok, but sadly not everyone involved can say that. -
I'm not even on Virtue and I avoid the place like the plague. I only go in there for Null (like someone else said) or the winter holiday events, and as I'm running through I can imagine my character with his hand in front of his face like "don't see me, don't see me, don't see me, don't see me....just keep walking, just keep walking....WHERE'S THE FRAKKIN EXIT DOOR?!?!?!"

Just got back from seeing it. It was a good "movie" but I don't put it above the previous three. Emma Stone was great as Gwen, but I just didn't care for Garfield's version of Pete. Partially cause they turned him from a science nerd into a skater/punk-type kid. I also think he looks a lot like Hayden Christensen (?), so the love-scenes were like watching AOTC again (made me cringe, badly). Coupled with the twitchy, off-balance-ness and I just couldn't get into it. I thought Maguire played "dorky" a lot better. Everyone else, I thought, was good. Denis Leary as Capt. Stacy was just funny to me, being a big fan of Rescue Me. It was just weird, in a good, funny way.
The story itself was ok. My biggest gripe was how everybody and their dog knew he was Spider-man. It'd help if he didn't take off his frakkin mask every chance he got. It's something that's bugged me in a lot of superhero shows/movies lately.
Again, in general I think it was a good movie, but I just enjoyed the Raimi movies better.
P.S. I agree with another poster: please, please, please, please, please bring back J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. -
Very basic, which is about how it is in every MMO I play. I see these videos and screenshots where people have all manner of windows and trays everywhere to the point where all you can really see of the game is the toon's head.I know everyone has their own style, but for me that's just way too busy and would be information overload. I'm sure it helps that none of my characters use pets, and I've never been one to care about how much damage I'm putting out, or absorbing, or what have you. As long as I take them down before they take me down I'm happy.
I was watching a video recently from a big space MMO where I couldn't even see the guy's ship. Just countless windows everywhere and what gameplay you could see was so zoomed out all you saw was beams of light firing off like a laser light show. That'd probably give me helmet fire. -
He was also Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights (much of the cast from that show is starting pop up all over the place). Speaking of, Kyle Chandler (Coach Eric Taylor) was that a-hole wannabe country music singer Buddy Jackson in Pure Country (with George Strait).
Someone brought up J.K. Simmons, he was also Dale Earnhardt's father, Ralph Earnhardt, in the ESPN movie: 3. And on the subject of Spider-man actors, I'm having a hard time seeing Denis Leary as Capt. Stacy after so many years as firefighter Tommy Gavin on Rescue Me (I miss that show).
One more, I was recently watching ST:TOS "Day of the Dove" with this Klingon officer as the main antagonist. Every time he spoke, I knew I'd heard that voice somewhere; that very slow, calculating voice. And then I think he says something over the intercom, and that mechanical tinge with his voice made it click: Michael Ansara who plays Kang in that episode (and later episodes of DS9), was also Mr. Freeze in Batman: TAS.
In fact, when I was looking through IMDb's listing on BTAS, I was surpised at some of the names, specifically ST alumni, that had voice roles in that show. -
Heh, and I was just coming here to ask where a good place to start reading Cap A was, since it appears they recently "re-launched" him (Vol. 6 is what the Marvel comics app calls it), and if that was in the "main" universe or its own thing. Guess I may as well hold off.
As long as they don't touch Scarlet Spider or ASM, I'm cool. -
Yes! A new thread!
I've asked for these in the past, and will continue to ask until we get it, the servers go dark, or I get kicked from the forums because I won't stop asking for this. Here's a link to my all-time #1 request for costumes: full-body capes/cloaks. The post linked goes more into detail of what I'm looking for and I guess what I'd envision it to look like in-game. In short, since I was younger and watching Batman: TAS, I've always loved the large, full-body cape he wore. My main character is my idea of who I'd be if I were a superhero, and for the most part he looks about like I've always imagined, however that full-body cape would be the one thing needed to complete the look.
Also, opaque eyes for masks would be neat as well, but I can live. -
Huh....I thought Conroy was doing Batman in this one....

So far, the only two comics I've enjoyed out of New 52 are Batman and Nightwing. I tried most of the other Bat-family books (including Justice League and Justice League International), but none have retained my interest.
I have to say though, the series I'm most enjoying atm isn't even a DC title. Scarlet Spider. I've been away from collecting lately, but last night I bought issues 2-5 and read through all of them in roughly an hour. The art's really good on that one too, which seems to be a rarity these days. Which is why I'm sure in a month or two they'll swap writers and artists, just to irritate me. -
It was at one point. That one's good for kids. Probably wouldn't recommend the CGI Spider-Man series as I recall that being more adult than what the OP is looking for. X-men Evolution is another one on there that might also be good for kids.

The earliest I remember was a Batman comic from the early/mid-90s. All I can tell you was that it was actually quite a long read (it had several Acts or Chapters), and the art style had him with 5 ft long ears on the cowl and a 3 mile long cape. The cover was him getting electrocuted or something by....a large figure. I can't even remember the premise or what that figure looked like. I also remember it was the first time I'd ever seen Batman swear (one thought bubble says "Damn"....something happens immediately after, and the bubble then says "double damn").
-
Haven't seen him mentioned here, but I don't think the Riddler has appeared in the New 52 yet. He's prominent, and those green pajamas with the question marks all over them just scream "am I gay or aren't I?"
Yes I know he had a daughter, but that was before the reboot. And even then: cover up! -
A lot of good suggestions here. It was obviously much easier knowing what I was looking for (I'm a Bat and Spidey fan) going in and at the time I started collecting it was easy to get started; at least for the Bat-family stuff. If you were to go with DC, now wouldn't be a bad time since it's only been a few months since the New 52 reboot.

Quote:That's pretty much how I feel too, and how I felt when they were talking about casting a black actor for the new Spidey movie. I just hate it when characters are changed or thrown in to make some point, or what have you. It has an obvious forced feeling rather than being natural. They made the announcement for one. These suggestion seems to imply multiple. Unless you're saying only one will come out.
But seeing this list. Haven't all these made an appearance in the new 52 already?
Though, I can imagine them doing it Robin, just to say "Oh hey, look gay superhero in new superhero movie"
Yup. For sure this is nothing more than a publicity stunt. Sadly, it's one that'll get eat up by the gay community. While likely being nothing more than a retcon of the character.
I can care less if a character is gay or straight. But to throw it in as some sort of PCness, or publicity stunt reeks of garbage.
It's like reading a webcomic that throws it in, because oh hey, it's somehow the new cool!
And someone mentioned Batman, I don't care how tolerant society has become towards gays, there will be riots in the streets if they make Batman gay. -
Yay. Although, I still miss Toonami of old. I want my DBZ (the real series, not that Kai trash), Kenshin, Gundam Wing, Big-O, and Outlaw Star back!
-
Fusionette, by far. Having gone through some of Twinshot's arcs, I will just say that I wish I could put Flambeux on /gignore.
