  1. Isn't 2012 when Lucas is supposed to re-release the whole Star Wars saga in 3D or something like that?
  2. Didn't read the details, but it looks like it was intended for girls under the age of 10. I really don't think they would care about Wonder Woman's "intended message". All they see is a female superhero, and to them that's cool so anything associated to Wonder Woman is going to be cool by default. Same thing with little boys who like Batman or Superman.
  3. All I really care for out of an animal based booster is more/better bird chest emblems. We have 3; one's an American Indian-style bird, the other two are just bird heads. I've seen some Customization Options in other games that have a ton more bird-related chest emblems. A few of them look really cool, and I'd just like to see more.

    The Cape 1/17/11

Yeah this episode was MUCH better than the first. It just bugs the crap out of me this dude keeps taking his damn hood off in the middle of a fight. That and how whenever he goes and talks to the kid he gets all choked up. I realize it's an emotional moment for him and all, but he needs to keep his superhero face on.
  5. I've always liked Pierce Brosnan's take on the character, but that's probably cause that's the one I grew up with. I'm also in the minority in that I liked Quantum of Solace more than Casino Royale. But, that said, I'm glad the franchise is continuing. Life just wouldn't be the same without a Bond movie every couple of years or so.

I don't think so. Best I could suggest is turn the music volume all the way down, open iTunes (or whatever music player you have), set it to repeat all, and have fun.

That's what I did while playing STO. Just downloaded a bunch of Star Trek songs to iTunes, shut the in-game music off, and then just played the ST music.

I don't know how much of the City of Heroes music is/was composed exclusively for the game. Maybe they should consider getting some new original music to replace the older music.
I know it isn't exactly "original", but if they do try to make/add new music I know who they need to go to.
  9. I like some of what's on your list Oz, however if there's two things I hope they don't touch it's capes and adding destructible objects. While our devs seem to do everything better, having spent some time with CoH's younger siblings, I have to say we do capes the best and I'd hate to see that messed up by updating how loose cloth works in this game.

As far as destructible objects, I may be alone, but I actually get REALLY annoyed when beating the crap out of something in the other to games, and some container on the other side of the room suddenly explodes because I apparently have a 20ft arm span. Or those fights in really cluttered room where stuff is flying around all over the place due to all the punching/kicking/shooting/biting. It breaks my focus. If they add it in a minimal fashion, say cardboard boxes or garbage bags, then fine. I think anyone who's played here any amount of time has become annoyed at how their big, bad superhero/villain can be rendered immobile by a box.

Now on to my wishlist. This isn't necessarily things I expect for 2011, but things that would be nice in 2011 and beyond (including CoH2). In order of how they come to my head:

    1) Nemesis/Arch-villain system: Yes, this would be one of those things the community of "that-other-game" would probably foam at the mouth over if we got one, but it's not a bad idea. At some point, I'd like to see one here. I just got that ability in TOG, and while I haven't really gotten to play with it just yet (been playing "that-other-other-game"), just the process of creating my nemesis was fun. Actually, over there I think you can create multiple nemesises-es-es-es. Now while I've heard it's more of a "nice gimmick" over there, as I said CoH devs seem to do things bigger and better.
My "vision" is something that works similar to tip missions. You beat up a few random bad guys and get a "lead" on your nemesis, which starts a short 2-3 mission arc. Another possibility would be adding Arch-villain missions to the police band (this could actually be a way starting an AV arc; do a police band AV mission, get a "lead" which then starts an AV arc). My third thought on this has to do with contacts. Sub-thought 1) while doing an older arc, your contacts currently give you Random Street Sweeping Mission "OR" the next mission in your arc. We could replace that random mission, with one about your AV(s). Sub-thought 2) place special contacts throughout the 3 worlds that just give you missions/arcs related to your AV(s).

    2) Vehicles: Yes I did just open that can of worms. However, I had a couple of "new" thoughts, though by this point I'm sure they're not as new as I currently think they are. I could see them being implemented in one of two ways: 1) as a costume part like rocket boots, piston boots, etc., 2) as a sort of instant travel power like Ouro, Base porter, or WW porter.
Starting with the second option, I think it would make a neat vet reward in the future. Basically, when you activate it, a car pulls up, the same screen the monorail uses pops up, you choose your location, your toon then hops in the vehicle and drives away. Next, the usual loading screen comes up, and then next thing you know, you're standing at some preset location.
The first option, as I said would be a costume part like rocket/piston boots, or wings. You get an invention either from WW or as loot, create it, and then you get a new section called "Vehicles" at Icon/Facemaker/Whatever-the-Praetorian-equivalent-is. From there you basically would get to pick from a variety of types, body styles, looks, etc. And of course you can color it. At worst, it would only be for superspeeders (maybe flyers should they ever tear down the war walls). I realize devs have said vehicles are not possible, and some players say "not gonna happen/don't want it to happen", but keep in mind I said my list includes stuff I'd like to see in a CoH2. And since (as far as we know) all CoH2 is, at best, a rumor, I like to think anything is possible at this point (that would include no war walls ).

    3) Personal Bases: Basically, it's just something nice I'd like to see for those of us who don't get involved in supergroups. Batman has the batcave, Spider-man has that new base at his job with Horizon Labs, Superman has that arctic base of his. A place to call home, an extra place to store salvage, create inventions, etc. Basically would work like current SG bases except you wouldn't have to be in an SG. At this point, I'll hand the mic back to Mr. Oz on how we personalize those bases.

Well, those are the top 3 things I can think of. Like I said, not all of them have to come this year. Some I know may never come, or will have to wait for CoH2. They're just things I've been thinking about lately that would be nice to have in the future (though that AV system would be nice to have this year ). Also, sorry for the novel.
  10. Actually, I (strangely) don't mind this take on Venom. Granted I hope it doesn't last too long, and they go back to monstrous Venom in the very near future, though.
  11. Well I'm thankful for a great game that allows me to play and truly feel like a superhero. From the first Hellion I kicked, to the most recent Malta Operative, I actually felt like I was a real hero, really doing heroic stuff. It's something I haven't really found with the latest additions to the superhero MMO genre. I have to say this is truly one of my top 3 favorite games.

Secondly, I'm thankful that we have such a great community here. No other online community, in-game or on the forums, is anywhere near as nice, friendly, helpful and just fun to "hang out" with.

And lastly, I really appreciate and am thankful for the awesome dev team we have here. I came here in 2007 disgusted with what happened to SWG (my first MMO) and was somewhat looking for a new home. I decided to give CoH a go, and while I didn't officially join the forums until 2009 I lurked from the very beginning. I really comforted me to see how often the red-names posted. I felt that with that much interaction in the community, if I (and like-minded others) didn't like a change being discussed or implemented, the devs would at least hear us out. That never happened in SWG, it was more the "its our sandbox, if you don't like you can go somewhere else" attitude. It's because of the devs here not just their interactions as far as business, but even when they post in non-CoH related threads like the rest of us nerds, gamers, and comic lovers that makes me feel this game has a bright future ahead.

That's about all I could think of, I'm sure there's more though.

  14. Yes, there was a ridiculous amount of crying ending up on my Facebook wall because of this change that wasn't really a change. Primarily out of the female contingent.

As I stated on my status last night:

My one gripe with it is I'm not a huge fan of the art. But then again, just about anything is better than whatever it was Frazer Irving was doing from Batman and Robin #13-16. As far as the story, the mini-series was cool, and so far the new ongoing series has at least started off good. The only thing (one other bad spot in the mini-series) is the Bruce vs. Terry "you're fired/I quit" crap gets old after a while, and the last half of the mini-series had that in it.

We know it happens one more time when Terry finds out he's Bruce's son, but hopefully they don't do it anymore between now and then.

Durakken, as far as your question, I would say in the strictest sense yes Terry and Damien would be brothers. Actually more like half-brothers since they have different mothers.

The buildings would be the traditional flat scaled store fronts, that included things like: a hotel, bar, county jail. The doors would be swinging panels like in the movies, and every once in a while you'd see some tumbleweed drifting through the landscape. I imagine dual pistols players would frequent the zone often. Maybe you could even have a gun dual in the center of town (even if your toon didn't have dp as a power). Perhaps it could be an ouroboros destination, and the landscape could have a sepia tone to give it that antique feel.

So, if you could create your own zone, what would it be?
I think that would be cool as a mission map for an Ouro arc or something along those lines. Same with the prehistoric, and medieval ones mentioned earlier. A futuristic one would be cool as well.

I'm also all for revamping old zones, but my top 3 list for new zones would be: 1) Moon/Mars base, 2) Earth orbit (space station for example), 3) Underwater base/Atlantis type deal.
  17. The latest Batman and Robin comic went back to the 1989 movie's Batmobile.

In Batman #700 (June 2010), Terry McGinnis is included in the one off as a part of the DC Universe AU presented, having a history with Damian Wayne, who rescued him as Batman from Two-Face-Two when he was held hostage as an infant. Two-Face-Two believed Terry McGinnis was one of a pair of twin boys who were the sons of billionaires rather than Warren and Mary McGinnis. Two-Face-Two transformed Terry into a miniature duplicate of the Joker with the Joker's toxin. Damian administers the antidote after he rescues Terry. And in the following page a teenaged McGinnis is seen behind the Batman cowl, battling the resurrected Joker, with Damian as his mentor, instead of Bruce.

Superman/Batman Annual #4 (2010) is a single over-sized issue featuring Terry McGinnis' Batman. Author Paul Levitz penned the story, with experience collaborating with Paul Dini and Alan Burnett in the past. It picks up after Superman's first meeting with the new Batman taking place in the DCAU, and supposedly jibing with the DCU
Thanks. I know the second one cause I have it, but didn't think about it as I just put it in with the rest of the BB comics (which to me are part of the DCAU, not the comics).

Question! When does Terry appear in the comics as part of Earth-1? I must find this comic!!!
  20. Looks a helluva a lot better than Spidey's new costume.

I was just looking through the TV guide the other day, and decided I was done with CN/Boomerang. They now have Ben 10 on Boomerang. At what bloody point did Ben 10 become a "classic cartoon"? Sure Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo and the other "Cartoon Cartoons" of the mid-90s aren't really classics either, but jeez. I fear there will be a day in next couple years when Boomerang will be nothing more than CN2 (did I just cry doom?).

Anyway, as far as the OP, honestly the DOOM is stronger if you take a peek at HeroMMO2's forums. Boy they really flipped when they found out Castle left, and there's not a blasted thing you can say to convince them we're not on a sinking ship.

A little doom is understandable, being the internet and all, but at some point you should probably get yourself a prescription of depression meds before you hurt yourself with all the negativity. And this is coming from an eternal pessimist (just ask one of my closest friends....in fact, I think that's why we are just friends ).

Honestly, I wouldn't consider the new BB series "canon" in regards to the current Bat-family comics. I see it more as picking up where the cartoon left off (or really, as you said Durakkan, the 1999 comics), and thus being an entirely different universe. They'd really have to stretch it to fit the new BB series in with Batman Inc., Batman and Robin, Red Robin, and Batgirl as they are now. The best analogy I can think of is how Spider-man 2099 would probably relate to Amazing Spider-man as it is now. While I never read those comics from back then, I'm sure there's plenty that has changed between when those two series came out and how ASM stands today to where any future Spidey 2099 series would have a hard time fitting in (assuming it would pick up where the first series left off).

Your predictions for the characters are probably the most logical and likely to happen. My guess with Damien and Stephanie, I see the former leaving the Bat-family to take over the Al Gul family dealings and probably gets himself killed in the process (since Talia shows up in the BB animated series). Stephanie may just leave and start to live a normal life whenever it is Barb and the others have their falling out with Bruce.
