In Scrappers clothing means playing a Scrapper. Scrapper doing a Tankers job (its not intrinsically actually) and a Scrapper doing the job my TA would be doing and for survivabilities sake a TA is enough, infact any defender or controller can provide enough actually all ATs can be a duct tape roleplay of another. Blasters aren't all pure damage, they can be part control and so Damage/Duct Tape Controller. All anyone has to do is look at secondary effects of a Controller or Defender and get the secondary effects too.

Weapon Mastery takes Scrappers to Duct Tape Trick Archer best. I recommend duct taping a TA over a Emp. Having to stop and heal is a pita.

Edit: I reckon me and Awesome with me as a Trick Archer could MoSTF with 6 blasters. We are just on different servers.
  2. On the all Scrapper STF I tanked all the AVs and proved them all doable without defeat, just to expose how good Scrappers really are on this TF for Mo's (because I am not archetypist or powersetist).

All the Scrappers were surrounding Ghost Widow. Quite happy taking her down iirc also without defeat. This had nothing to do with their builds (they could be any Armour and on SOs). It was purely down to how we did it of which the method is briefed on in this thread.

I ofcourse was a Tanker in Scrappers clothing whilst a mate was a Trick Archer in Scrappers clothing. We cake walked her. Aeon is harder, requires a flyby taunt Aeon to cover whilst others aggro atleast 1 EB before beating Aeon down, leaving me only having to survive Aeon but anyway..it's a shame that Victory is how you describe it but it's not alone. There is one server EU side that I barely touch as a Tanker anymore because I just can't be pained with trying to get people out of their boxes. Edit: most those players probably left years ago though.
  3. STF is cake really. Some people may of done it a hundred times but they still overkill in what they need for survivability. A tanker with more than one defender and controller in the team has too many crutches. Sure it can speed things up but to need more than that to survive is overkill. If team mates require more than that then I hope it's also for speed purposes. To determine that any AT shouldn't be there to increase chances or to have a more effective team is also not very good imo as some poor soul is out there with their badge character incapable of so much as getting on a team let alone learning how to complete something but also a sign of lack of adaptability and tactical prowess. Some people have classed me as a snob but I really do wonder who the real snobs are. I've basically never cared what other people play.
  4. If defenders are going to be made as soloable as corrupters I do wonder if tankers are going to be made buffable to the damage levels that brutes can be. I won't be holding my breath but it is possible to buff a brute to do virtually everything a tank does and more. I use virtually but really the difference can be unnoticeable and more because Brutes will contribute more damage for the team.
  5. This is an EU thread and you are on Liberty. You had connections?

    All Kheld MoSTF

It's a good idea to suggest and then stay ingame for. I wouldn't go about it the way you are personally.
  7. I am pretty confident it can be done. Why not on Union? I've thought about it ages ago. It's one of those things that make me go "Is it going to be worth the effort?" tbh. No other server has done it and I am not short on ideas anyway, just a lil kick up the butt thats all.
  8. Try looking for a method to tank for every type of defender. I don't know about your server but certain types of defenders generally tend to skip the powers that would be useful to aid a tanker survivability. Not to worry though, Tankers can get everything for themselves when it comes to AVs but they will be more AV biased than farm biased etc. It can all come down to control if you want it to.

  11. Fear kiting, yeah I'd like to get to that one day but it's something I'd do with a Stormie. I wasn't talking about presence pool however. I was talking about Air Superiority without people using Avoid/Fear effects to get a kind of lock.

If you have the tanker just directly above her she may want to climb up somewhere to get closer if unhappy, but if she is already at an apex she can go no higher without flight. Air Superiority is -fly and someone can spam it thus giving no further options in getting towards someone she is compelled to hit but can't and so she is effectively locked directly below the Tanker.

This is part of how you can tank for Trick Archers who have -fly in Entangling Arrow btw. Any type of Tanker can tank the entire STF for just a Trick Archer.

(you do not have to build/play like me.) I play him as a mastermind whose pets (fellow teammates) do 95% of the damage while he sits in the hot seat controlling the flow.
The Damage per End of most attacks are relatively the same. So imagine you might have to use one attack five times instead of a heavy attack once. Those heavier attacks tend to do a better AoE gauntlet as well making taunt rather unnecessary on any near you. The Aura tends to remove the need to taunt in melee but, slightly further than that the heavier attacks do gain aggro. The tier one attacks are the lightest and tend to be of slightly better recharge which means that they have slightly better DPS and by the same token slightly higher EPS (end per sec) making them not so end friendly after all. Atleast I think that's it. I haven't needed to look at numbers since 2007 and it puts me to sleep thinking about them.

Anyway as I see it, you are probably capable of doing your job, its your character that works well with your friends and for you...most pugs probably wouldn't even care or have a clue what your build is so as long as you enjoy it thats all that matters. I just hope you havent got macros commanding your pets about.

There is a way to lock GW in one place with a power anyone can get. Obviously a pool power.

1 Scrapper can be self made able to successfully offtank the right 2 AVs and if someone was to attack any of them then its only possible to keep full control of 2 AVs. Infact best stick with upto 2.
  15. It doesn't have to work towards PvPers or AV/GM soloers niche. It doesn't have to stand out amongst other sets but it may offer something that other sets don't and I think that due to balance is possibly the main criteria. I'd level a character if it's got something completely new to it.
  16. It does mean one annoying build change to one of my scrappers who was so near perfectly built to tank most AVs with confront. I still don't know how I am going to get such perfection back. Edit: not without getting real expensive.
  17. I reckon it's possible for a Firetank to go into RV and solo GW. The problem lies with PvPers being there. That's it. When I say solo I will use the Devs past definition of solo.

If so then they failed that since the closed beta when they introduced him. With any type of tanker. If not then maybe they did read the European Forums. Edit: I also sent Bridger a PM saying the ones in RV were too easy or something similar.
  19. Long animations can possibly lead to later than normal responses. I hope there isn't too much. If I wanted to concentrate on damage I might consider it in the Scrapper or Brute section.

This should be the only prerequisite for getting a team.

People quickly create laws for themselves and eachother from both their easy sucesses and their harsh failures.
  21. I have been agreeing for years though some people just can't get their act together around other people who have certain sets, it's only sometimes those people with those certain sets aren't ideal.

Often I find that people build and play their characters to only function best around certain powersets and pretty much fail "at times" with others.

Also everybody has moments which I call n00b moments but some people just aren't trying or don't even look like they have fully supportive/cooperative intent but this says nothing bad of the set their playing.

When something isn't going to well then some formula of play could do with being devised. Someone may suggest this but there could be a player that doesn't like criticism, even if you hadn't been critical, it's criticism. Some people require all the diplomacy of the greatest known diplomat to get them to play in a way that works best for everyone.

Things could be bad so why not make use of an AoE immobs rather than expect a player to have a better heal rate? AoE immobs are useful to cut line of sight with most of the enemy group yet still have a target for AoEs. Then you don't need someone with a high heal rate and I rather someone on a controller playing a controller. I certainly didn't make a Mind/Emp to play as an Emp chasing idiots around a map.

    Taunt. Why not?

Some people get off on things like an Illusion Rad who has perma PA keeping LR happy or the fact that they can do -Regen etc. I say "things like.." because there are many things. Sometimes though there is some over rating going on due to what they've seen, from also what they haven't seen and never would guess. Each AT with different powersets has different flexibilities and limitations. The Tanker might get knocked out of the ball park at certain aspects of the game but that can be said for anyother. Going back to that perma PA and -regen. I don't see a need for tankers, controllers or defenders anywhere, just good players would do. Good players shouldn't happen at the power selection screen they should start off as in some peoples eyes, as bad ones. Often the difference between good and bad is experience. Bad ones know little of the game and we have all been there. Some players are simply better off from other peoples flexibilities than some peoples limitations and thats as far as it goes. I'd sooner trust one tank or one brute to tank upto 5 AVs at a time than a Ill/Rad.
  23. I wonder if energy aura will follow.

Good players are good players. If you think having an Earth/Rad or something in a team makes better players out of good players then I fail to see your logic. Rads provide mitigation. Tankers provide mitigation.
