  2. I'll be taking speed teams more seriously. In the speed group I am in I got in playing my Scrapper, I happen to think that I could of easily been playing my Tanker when I played my Scrapper, but I shall be playing the characters that effect other peoples performances through debuffs and buffs (speed run favourite combos) more so than ever now, for an even better picture on what I can do for them as a Tanker. If you know everyones powersets then you can get an idea of how they can stack together, and create the dynamic in which the stacks are thick and fast when they otherwise wouldn't be as well as spot when someone else could be performing better.

The player is what counts as well as AT. Sometimes people are counterproductive from what they do/don't rather than what they are playing. Tarnishing everyone from a few brushes and giving no one a chance to grow with their favourite AT in a speed team is wrong to me as someone is putting their own selfish needs above fun and community. The type of person that I would omit from future trials is simply the type of person who plays their toon with disregard to the teams needs and quite frankly that person could be playing anything including an Ill/Cold.

    Plant/Empathy?

A lot of people would sooner help you with the making of your build as it is more likely to suit your vision, playstyle, whatever so to get the best feedback, post a build.
  4. From this thread I've learned that it's a shame we all don't just play Ill/Colds and ignore everything else just to please Slainsteel. That guy whom I'm told, is from a speed group which happens to have 2 enviously good TF/SF times out of G knows how many TF/SFs.

Or maybe the Dev team should seek to make the game balanced and by that I mean make the game equally challenging for everyone. Clearly it is not a challenge for Ill/Colds so I'd suggest that there should be the nerfing of that combination as its easier to bring one combination down than everything else up.

A Tanker should gain an idea of how it will Tank anything for any team make up. The challenge lies in making everyone else more efficient with them than without them. An uncontemptuous team would allow Tankers the space to achieve that.

Great way to win a discussion, go straight to personal attacks.
Beat your times, hmm I may well end up doing that. I do happen to belong to a Speed group, whatever is done is down to the team and if you read my Sig I don't tend to brag about it. We'll see what comes but when it comes is down to plenty of other people and what they have got on with their lives.

I think the no life loser part is a bit harsh. If you've garnered that from my post then that was unintentional, most players are happy just logging in after a hard days work where like me they run a business and are happy just letting go of authority and anything serious. I'm in engineering and coming home to do maths is something I'd try to avoid as its a bit like a painter coming home from decorating to do decorating.

I don't like excluding people so naturally I couldn't give a monkeys if there were stalkers, masterminds, tankers and peacebringers in a speed team, what does matter to an extent is how they adapt. So if you are the type to exclude somebodies beloved character from a team that they worked so hard on then you are no better and perhaps worse than little old personality attacking me.
  6. It's a guide to build the way you built if anything. There is no hard and fast rule to build (I'd of taken haste over flurry) and you could of just stuck a build from Mids down that did you first 20 levels with the slots in order.. First 20 levels flyby, in anycase static shield is a power that should be taken pretty much asap and I see alot of people not doing that so a guide is possibly a good thing for people to have. If I were you I'd pad it to more than how you built, perhaps how you play it too.

Of course, our fastest pre-i20 MoSTF was 38m, but then, that was 'with' a tank, so that would account for the slowdown.
Whilst I'd have to yawn my way into a position of either agreeing or disagreeing with you, oh wait, the difference between a tanker and a brute on a speed TF run is too small with the luck factor that is always there, I'd say that anyone who cares has too little of a real life.

    Tank Problem

I don't know why LSK doesn't come out and say what the enemy group was.

Each one of them slots is making a minor difference I think and hover ain't fast. You might make a bigger difference to the build "overall" by moving 2 of them slots. I have fly but I also have superspeed. I would zip in, heal aura and zip out with SS.
  10. So far I got to 30 on Justice with my blaster, been there about 3-4 days now. Liking it alot.

    SD/SS IO Build

Yeah looks like a good build from Deathharvester. The whole reason for Syntax suggesting you to do a build is to not only see your power picks but your line of thinking and to see if there are things you might not notice so that in the long run you're not slow at doing good builds. FWIW though Deathharvesters is not only good but easy for you to swap in cheaper IO sets till you can afford all of it if needs be.

You have a combat tab LSK. I'd of just read it.

    For @Hannah 15

The build I thought is for Hannah to determine the usefulness of. There is probably an AE farm map, if Hannah likes farming that such a build works well on. Who is to know.

Nooo! Chuck makes a great Superhero and is probably now my favourite show.
  15. I thought it was the best Superman TV Series yet. To me the Superman story isn't about satisfying the bloodthirsty needs of viewers. It's about what makes a hero a real hero. Plenty of character defining moments, loved all of it. Will make my kids watch it as an alternative to church (if I have any). Surprised with the end though that it came suddenly and quickly overed and out.

I've always had Absorb Pain. It's never killed me. Why it hasn't is basically comes down to my position. I don't place myself within the firing line. Enemies have AoEs of certain radiuses that they target the tanker or scrapper with and I am not there. Cone attacks - I'm not within their areas neither. When I am absorbing pain I make sure I don't have aggro and if someone is being an idiot by requiring spammed heals and doesn't know when to pull back then I won't keep trying to keep them alive. Let idiots die is first rule. I used to put range slots in the power so it was good for that person who should be within 80ft of me yet isn't. Now, if someone isn't in range then tough, fort goes to the next person. I won't lose buffing time.
  17. To get you started here is the link to a Hero planner. If you're not on the Mac then Mids is best.

    http://www.cohplanner.com/

You're the one with the concept, the power choices and it'll help us to help you if we can see what sort of build you'd come up with and get a jist of what you find valuable. In the process it maybe that either you or we become better character builders from it.

I'd advise on around atleast 20% def from set bonuses or jointly from defense powers.
  18. I quite fancy team tp on my stonetank what has tp self anyway to help all those people scoot by groups undetected. Often in teams I see people left trailing behind having to take an alpha from groups just to try and get by them in order to catch up with the tanker who is objectively minded rather than tanker minded. Yeah I'll do that.
  19. Given what was mentioned in the first post I could of picked up spiritual if it were me. I took Nerve on my Broadsword Regen over Spiritual, not sure yet but bad decisions can be fixed it don't take much to go with two Alphas.

Now days I can't even play him, it seems like other powersets like Rad, Dark, Kin push heroes or villians over the edge so much that I pretty much haven't thrown out one heal in...god I don't remember when. I haven't gotten into any groups that need me to heal. I also didn't know at the time I created him but for my secondary...I choose Energy. What a living hell, nobody needs my heals, yes the buffs are always nice but also, nobody wants my damange either unless I take a bunch of time to set up my attacks to where it won't disrupt the melees. So sad, I can't bring myself to delete him because he's the oldest toon on my account. But I probably will never play him again. Healing great, if you actually get a chance to use it.
I don't get on my empath to heal people. I hate healing people. I get on it to buff people. If people played well together with them buffs then I wouldn't need to heal people but people tend to be disorganized and so I have to from time to time.

My Forcefielder is NRG, she blasts but I have to concentrate on positioning a bit so kb goes to walls or preferably corners. Keeping an eye on heathbars is something I don't have to do as a FFer so the positioning is easier, but still there are single targets that resist KB so if you concentrated on a single target between team checks and used aoes to bunch mobs or repel from self it should be fine.
  21. Focus on being an empath, keep the people who are best fortituded fortituded and so on but don't be an extreme empath with the heal aura on auto within range of enemies AoEs, because the AoEs directed on melee can get you too. Best to not be up the Tankers butt or within 20ft of melee range waiting to be AoE slept or worse nuked, and best not to attack targets that are unaggroed.

When it comes to attacking, attacks have a cast time, it is during that cast time that someone could go from in need of healing to dead. Now had you not attacked you might of been able to save that person who does more damage than you or just so happens to be the person preventing teamwipes. At the start of the fight its best not to attack, that could be when alphas happen, then during the fight its actually your AoEs that if hitting more than 4 targets that get the most damage per endurance from you out and reduce the fight duration. But if your AoEs do KBs then be careful as spreading mobs reduces the potential of other players effects.

After the fight it would say be time to buff but its not a lot of time. An idea would be to buff a different 2 people between fights. So that over the mission everybody remains buffed. To be ready for the start of the next group it may pay to buff towards the end of the fight you are in so you can shoot to the next and be better prepared for someone taking the alpha.

    Jab

What matters in to a power are things like Damage per Animation. Jab and a much heavier hitting attack could be very different on damage but for each second spent on the attack the damage is the same. So if a power is good on DPA its simply good. The heavier hitting attack, by taking longer over it does allow for more end recovery between the preceeding attack and the succeeding attack. Damage per Endurance is another thing to look out for to do the maximum amount of damage for the least amount of endurance. Sometimes for people the 6 slots may offer bonuses. Brawl is also a power which people don't slot but if you had a .67s-.8s break in the attack then why not use it? Ultimately is short sighted to live in the world of minor, medium and large damage as it can leave you wondering why some other player is doing so much better. Jab for some people might get used on each new target or once every 10s on a hard target. The cost of its use is there so if you can afford the slots why not make it economical?

So see you all in a month or so, by then I should have calmed down enough to get down to business as usual.
While your gone you will miss the important window where you can get your old global back.
  24. IIRC Hyperstrike did an unkillable at 30 type of Invuln build, that might help you in searching for one to get you started.
