    Disruption Arrow fires a pet, then later it fires another pet. The powers from each pet add together because they aren't coming from the same source. Yes it was about endurance conservation because back in the day of legacy stamina I went staminaless, was one defender where going staminaless could be done, then they lowered the cast times effectively increasing my eps but between not wasting effects and good end management was still good, just not as good.
  2. Most if not all the stuff on TA has been suggested before and I am inclined to think that TA has since been looked over and tweaked.

    I doubt Devs sit there and compare one power from one powerset directly to another power of another powerset. They're not there to make the same thing just with arrows or with pole arms.

    There is a team dynamic required for each defender type and also scenarios, enemies against in which each type brings more than all the others. If the defender meets the requirements of its preferred dynamic then I bet its fine. If the player base fails to play to find and play to that dynamic and effectively says "well Dark can res the whole team in a team wipe, why can't Trick Archers do that?" then that's tough.

    We could all be thinking of how our toons fail on Speed runs whilst Cold exceeds, it could be that cold is designed with speed runs in mind whilst other sets have other situations in mind. Not saying thats true.

    I know some toggle debuffs look great compared to TAs debuffed but the amount of times the anchor gets killed first is unreal, this means that on average the potential of the set isn't achieved and survivability or debuffs/time comes down from the on paper levels. What's balanced against those high debuff toggles is the fact that Mr Anchor Killer keeps whacking the anchors first on time everytime. The Rad is then great with AVs for example but in fighting all them spawns getting to that AV you could of all done with something else purely because people don't play right.

  4. The way I regard gauntlet as autohit is, if the attack hits, gauntlet automatically hits (unless AV then it -20). Without the attack hitting, I have seen mobs carry on to somebody else. I want to read where it says that whether an attack hits or not the mobs are always affected by gauntlet. To me, with a missed attack, damage doesn't get multiplied with the gauntlet and some other team member is still regarded as a higher threat. I need to test it again as it could be years ago when I tested and found that relying on gauntlet alone was unguaranteed on minions let alone AVs.
  5. I love haste. It's my ketchup. I worked to having as many debuffs recharging to around 20s as possible. I would cycle debuffs in turn the right amount so I don't waste duration or alternative opportunity by stacking debuffs what couldn't be stacked. Acid arrow is already beneath 20s that but it has a small aoe so if used as soon as it was up again, a different area of mobs would be targeted. 20s would be the average group to group duration that I looked for, often mobs were destroyed quicker but that's just great anyway. TA comes home on helping a team take out lots quickly without an anchor requirement.
  6. All powers are useful. But sometimes desireable for too small a portion of the game. Certain Sets are more useful than others on certain trials but not as much as some people may think, if you need an empath, or anything that has heals on an STF say, then slap yourself.

    Taking whole powersets versus an AV for example there is always a way that a competent, knowledgeable team could comfortably take down the average AV in an average AV mission. The powersets in their entirety are very good, but when powers are skipped, flexibility is lost and when improperly replaced then what a character can help achieve maybe sub par, add that to people playing the sets incorrectly and/or team mates playing around them incorrectly, then its often the powerset that is targeted as sub par. When something can't be done, it's somebody elses fault or it couldn't possibly be down to not having that power they tried in the low levels and respeced out or somebody said don't bother with. As a sonic defender I would have repulsion. Kb yeah it can be used poorly, make teams inefficient, cause more problems than its worth in the wrong hands but then in late game be in its most baddest bootiest form the answer to problems. That Kb is another reason why you don't have a heal.

    I think the problem is, chiefly in some of the skippable and end heavy powers required 1% of a characters lifetime. They're easily not attractive enough because most of the game they're not desired so people don't take them but it maybe the very thing that brings the powerset upto desired usefulness in keeping the team alive.

    Out of the defenders, Sonic is the primary I think of that is first on the list when it comes to needing a buff but it maybe because I know what the other sets offer better or maybe its because players I team with only know how to team with certain sets or that certain sets are more catered to helping their undevised, uncomplicated playstyle/inflexible builds.

    So what do I think subjectively?

    All Kb toggles could cost less in PvE only if, as it is to my mind PvP is the reason they're high. They're potentially useful but not attractive enough.

    Poison stands out as the powerset I really think needs a buff the most.

    I just don't get why on earth someone would take that Poison Trap most of all. I'd see more sense in it being a sleep grenade. People dislike Timebomb but atleast Timebomb does damage reducing fight duration to self or selves. Poison Gas maybe alright when you know an ambush is coming but that's about it's usefulness decided for me. It is possibly the least attractive power ingame, it doesn't really make much sense in the context of the rest of its set but this time next year I could end up eating my hat on it, who knows.
  7. I've never in all my time playing found gauntlet to be autohit in PVE. I barely ever play without an aura on but I have tested gauntlet in the past and found it failed to be autohit. No where have I read that it is autohit.

  9. All this is still subjective and not entirely correct.

    But on a good note its still potential food for thought.

    The Devs may read something and say "can't do that" but might do something else in keeping with a power. I'd rather the Devs make the decisions on what changes should be made as I expect them to see the entire picture.

    In truth I've pretty much seen several posts like this which go about fixing everything, similar suggestions and so I wouldnt hold my breath.

    My food for thought :

    Cold Domination could get nerfed.

    You should have a go whatever, as its quicker for us to change a build than to create one, plus we have some idea of what extra powers you'll want and adapt suggestions to that.
  13. It's always been about limiting AVs for me. That means I couldn't give a toot what's in team because there is bound to be someone with something I should be able to use. You can look at peoples powersets and find immobs, -fly, kb, -range, whatever and use them effects.

    My survivability could be dependent on a single scrapper, blaster, any defense powerset with/without the ability to stack mezz protection, controls only, a single dominator can be all I need.

    In melee you run the risk of seeing her Dark Regen, that can mean your DPS and everyone elses DPS on her was wasted. You could do the team a favour and try to limit that. By sacrificing your DPS she can end up dead sooner.

    You first compel the AV to attack you and then you limit them to what powers they can use on you. The rest of the team just need a lower threat level.

    I don't believe in getting <insert something in particular> thats for sure. I'll not wait 5 mins for one.
  14. Just wanted to say to the OP that, there are so many power choices and so many different ways to slot because we are all different. I did a fire farm with an empty build today, first time I tanked on a fire farm (seriously) slowly working out which insps I liked the most. I liked the lucks a lot so defense came up trumps for me.

    I thought I'd take Booboo and revamp him some, for me I would want more than just mag 4 kb prot, try Rikti Pylons otomh I noticed that with Ninja run it can get upto a not too shabby 61mph.

  16. I believe that all the attributes can be divided up into two categories, like an input and an output. I'd divide them into defence and offense. So when it comes to holds, disorients and knockback I'd simply want to try and quantify how much damage on average I wouldn't be taking. I'd also would have to take into account how much damage I may not be doing when applying such effects.

    I've never heard of a change to an aoe radius, I'm not sure it can be done and really don't think empaths will notice and say wow it helps greatly neither. Debuffs vs Buffs varies. When fighting enemies at +4 buffs do help a tonne because generally debuffs are extremely resisted. Upto +3 debuffs are satisfactory though. Now that you've brought it up I expect you will know a decent analysis of defender sets when you see one so I think you would be ideal for the job. I myself would of thought it best if I done such a thing after fiftying all the sets.

    Empaths dont really have a lot to benefit by from their primary when soloing and no in smaller teams they don't outshine everyother set. If other sets can help 8 man teams better then they should sure as hell be able to help 7, 6, 5 etc well too. The empath can buff a single player to high heaven for sure but thats balanced by the lack of the ability to shield everyone. Not asking for an AoE fortitude that hits the whole team here. A little of the cast time would be sweet though.
  18. I didnt like the lvl 30 and lvl 40 heal IOs in a 44 power and just did this differently.

  19. That level of constant KB, there are "good" uses for it that's for sure. I think you can do damage with power bolt and lightning storm, stick with -tohit on hurricane and not waste your time with whirlwind but Gale is gold!
  20. Firstly when someone shouts out they're doing a TF I have to log into different toons to find one without the badge for the TF if it werent for my excel helping me, not always accurately. What would be nice is to read the character info in the character selection screen.

    Secondly I understand that Crabs come with the pack no matter what costume we wear but would it not be possible to have a toggle which hides the pack and greys out the all the crab powers so we can't use them? Like walk, just not turning everything off.

    Five years after every single AT/powerset is proven as nice but not always essential there are still people who scoff at the idea of doing something without a certain set or AT in the team. My very first STF was on Invincible and people asked what should they bring? Despite still having everything to learn, I actually said "the badge toon". I endorse people bringing whatever they like really.

  23. When it comes to taunt its more than about LR on the STF. It's about doing as much of anything as you can possibly do with any team as low a level as you like. You should be able to think up as many different team mixes as possible and have a solution for many different scenarios. Need is an hopefully an unnecessary word and no certain defender should become a crutch.

    I don't need -range in taunt to tank the inner circle unaided or Lord Recluse. They could take the -range out when it comes to AVs. I always thought it an oversight from the day they put it in, yes to simple mobs, yes in PvP but vs AVs? Nah, as it gimps the game. Prior to IO sets and -range in taunt, people used to scoff at tankers that had taunt and then in the next thread complain about something being impossible to do. The scoffed at, those with taunt, letting on nothing, sat back and let the scoffers struggle.

    All powers offer flexibility though and you trade one for another with what you take. I'd sooner tank anything and keep damage off of everyone wherever, however possible, when needed.
  24. From that I've freed up 6 slots that I thought could be better spent and also could be put anywhere else ya like.

    Frozen fists is the bruise power or weave could have more shield walls or Taunt could be slotted more.

  25. For me on a plant storm, tactics would be the one I am after, then whether or not I took assault or manuevers would come down to slotting.
