Well its nice to have a showcase for the special FX alone, many people overlook what the FX team can do, it will take out the anticipation of what things can look like but you can get to have it taken out ingame anyway. With the amount of hardwork involved, Ill be tempted to vote for it "when its completed" and not before
I dont know how you do show all the effects as one toon or in what way other people assist you, but I have a lot of toons high level and would help as long as I dont have my toons shown. I love anonymity and rp a bit. -
Are you able to do all the powersets as Spad?
Its a nice way of showing the FX off, I dont think the FX team get enough love of people, most effects get lost in the action. The FX team killed my sonic though
With all the info on powers and powersets its getting like there will never need be anticipation to see what a power is like or does. Story content you can just read it off a site, what to slot and how to slot can be done with more precision (but thats nicer). With nothing to prove and little to discover one is feeling like I dont need to play the game anymore but do carry on. I do kind of know how to demo record and was thinking I dont want to expose my characters but I am thinking of showing off my Sonic/Sonic corrupter to show how conceptually messed she now looks -
I log into Defiant and I feel like I better make the team. Most people are soloing, this is cageyness, worried about something or hiding something or its that they love story content ever so much. Less emphasis on playing well/looking good and more emphasis on social and friendly mission sharing at modest odds is needed imo. [censored] efficiency.

Actually is far more annoying to get surprise SB without wanting it, specially on caves.
[/ QUOTE ]
Kins have a natural thing to em, you run slow, they remember to SB you, you suddenly run off the edge into a mob of 17 +3s. It is better to be on top of them and ask for SB before they give it to you, that way, no surprises and no n00b kinetic methods. -
If servers merged itll be a new name "European Server". I will think [censored], I made certain alts on certain servers to enjoy certain variations in play, charm and manners and now they mix them up.

I'd first like to emphasise that my discussions before did actually mention both skeletal teaming and limited buffs and debuffs (when I say limited I mean as in not much). You can see I mentioned that just by reading again.
[/ QUOTE ]
i'm talking about small teams or solo also. in larger teams neither end, nor that extra defence, should be any real concern due to the number of buffs you should be recieving.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am not gonna sidetrack with you, I am not talking about defence or resist when it comes to anyother effect. Invulns versus end drains are weaker than anyother tanker and defense is all they can do for themselves other than use insps which anyone can do.In large teams, the team can be made up of anything going up against any number of effects. If sonic was the only support, then with little or no def against end drainers its bye bye end, but atleast thankfully you have shields that dont rely on endurance and maybe you can keep taunt control when your out of end from having the one power that doesnt rely on endurance.

with invince hitting one mob (the AV), you're up to 27% defence. Which isn't exactly shabby is it? Each additional mob then adds a smaller % bonus. say you have an AV and two minions.. with Invince, the minions give you 4% more defence... with end steals they give you 200% more end bonus than one target would. (coincidentally, energy absorbtion also gives you 2% extra def with two minions as opposed to just an AV)
i can honestly say that i have never thought "damn, i wish i had 4% more defence right now". 27% def and maxed res to s/l is more than enough to go toe to toe with an AV imo.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would like to see how you gathered these figures.
[/ QUOTE ]
if you don't care about numbers n stuff... scroll to the bottom now
invuln was based on my build, and the powers are slotted. the defence figure comes from:
unyielding = -5%
tough hide = 7.9%
weave = 7.9%
invincibility (1 target) = 10.4%
combat jumping = 2.9%
Steadfast Protection +def = 3%
= 27.1%
[/ QUOTE ]
Weave = 7.9%<---not invulnerability
combat jumping = 2.9%<---not invulnerability
Only you know how your invuln gets to that amount of defence not me. So Id rather it was you, who clarified how you get to the figure before someone new comes along and thinks Invulns can naturally achieve it and that, is why I asked you to tell me how you got your figures.
I chose not to read from steadfast downwards cos this..
unyielding = -5%
tough hide = 7.9%
weave = 7.9%
invincibility (1 target) = 10.4%
combat jumping = 2.9%
Steadfast Protection +def = 3%
...was all i wanted to see but I read the back on topic bit

I wouldnt take frozen aura just incase i came across an AV that i needed extra defence for (and wanted to keep the mob i was using out of action), i'd sooner take a useful power and use a purple insp should the need arise to be honest. But it's all down to preference really.
[/ QUOTE ]
I previously mentioned being flexible, this means being able to do something not everybody can do or needs to do, because if everyone can do it, its not being flexible. The times to be flexible are rare but some people like "out of the box" stuff. Whether you or I agree with Frozen Aura as worth taking is something 99,99% of the population wont give a hoot about, so yes its all about preference. I am not without more ideas on uses for Frozen Aura, I am just bringing a couple up. Every individual scales a powers level of usefulness/fun/neatness for themselves, to how they play and the last thing I want to see is people talking like they speak for everyone. Frozen Aura sleeping minions for the defbuffing of invincible is a positive effect I came up with both here and on the American forums.
I begin my holidays today so thats free time to go into all the boring stuff I can. -

Yes but a Controller / Defender with Empathy wouldn't be taking any aggro from any enemies to become Mezzed as they'd be more concentrated on keeping the team alive with heals and buffs. Also, a Kin would be best keeping SB and FS up rather than checking if people are Mezzed or not, but that's just my opinion. Thanks for the reply, Unthing. I think I'll just skip it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Makes me wonder why you even asked, having come up with an instant reply after just one person.
People of certain sets would more find more value in a Kin who has ID than one without.

Secondly, providing not too much hastle, tanks - who wont say No to the big +resistance boost.

A tanker who found themself subjected to 4 stacked holds is a detoggled tanker or in the case of GW 1, nvm dam resists. -

Thats why I didnt suggest melee. Invulns do and dont have a hard time with AVs but the flexibilty to do more or better with a somewhat skeletal team is there, which I like. Keeping mobs for endurance purposes? As an Ice or Fire?Way less important than defence for an Invuln. Def to end draining attacks helps prevent end drain an all. Talking bout end draining AVs, EA wont necessarily keep up with the end drain 'alone'.
[/ QUOTE ]
tbh i dont think either are important. if you cant stand up to an AV without the extra defence buff from invince, then maybe you need to look at your build.
[/ QUOTE ]

Next up defense for endurance purposes:
Invulns cant resist end drain like a stonetanker nor put end back quickly like an icetanker or firetanker therefore for endurance purposes, defence is more important for invulns and in talking about AVs there are AVs that end drain.
There is also a reason for kiting, damage mitigation to self and/or to team, sometimes melee dps of an AV will be more than a team can help support you or someone else against. Opting for ranged dps maybe the better option, the loss of your dps on an AV can also mean more dps from the team ie the blappers that do way more damage than you, can/might, get to do so, untouched, let alone from not being planted, controlled or debuffed. Id also like to point out that not all AVs are exactly the same and each type of tanker has its weaknesses that no pool power can provide adequate make up for.

I think for staring at AVs itll be good when your limited in the type of buffs or debuffs about you depending on what you can pull off. Frozen Aura and Icepatch can keep minions about you for additional defence whilst taunting an AV, I dont suggest melee though.
Other players can be sods, outdoors I am tanking a GM using minions to maximise the defbuff of my invincible and then along comes a firetanker who defeats them all XD -
Knockback powers are fine into the nearest wall (always away from other enemies). As soon as things are taken to a wall people get how useful kb is. Now objects in missions like storage racks need a fix cos when i "box" mobs under the lowest shelf they can end up passing through the rack to the upper shelf which is complete pants.
-
I have done the hollows content with a claws scrapper and used confront to reduce the numbers i had to fight at a time. You get no real high burst damage which means your fighting some mobs for longer and so it does help to reduce the how many at a time factor. Think yaself lucky cos Invulns have a heal and mine was SR, no heal and barely any defence to write home about.
Most of the time of your actual playing of a toon is at later levels. -

godly beauty (feminine of course)...

Thats how Id describe RotP. Nothing wrong with using it, if every tanker could pop up immediately after defeat recovering aggro thats shifted on to someone else that could do a great deal for a team. However the level and duration of invulnerability afterwards is
A flying firetanker, without tough, tanking 17 foes can be more survivable than a grounded one with tough, however I still went jump pool and still wont pick tough as I like RotP
*will need fitness on my Firetanker unless i get better at it*
Firebreath is easily skipped unless your good at stacking.
Char in the Pyre epic is very nice, and the ring of fire allows for burn without running also (ring of fire looks stupid without a -fly component). -
Everything that anyone could suggest is subjective, I couldnt give a build that you would be guaranteed to like because I dont know you. Time to create builds for nothing is wasteful and many people see their own builds as personal in order to be unique.

Holly Valance would prolly be good for my scrapper Katalina but you asked first. I call dibs on Jaime Pressly (my avatar) and *rushes off to make a toon based on Devon Aoki* but I wont be asking Pious for anything more other than "Please dont do Jaime Pressly for anyone else"

My lvl 18 (now 19) inv/ss tanker was last night, for the first time ever, taking damage properly and tanking properly! i'd just used a vet respec to follow a guide build because it looked like what i wanted more.... i had a magnificent team with great support! today, i had [censored] support, but was still scraping by. i'm so pleased. i think i might finally take a char to 50! :S
[/ QUOTE ]
The hardest part of tanking with an Invuln is while mobs arent tight around you, remember that, I have gone down to 5 hp or somit silly with having to pull one group away from another and then have someone herd messing causing additional herd time and therefore additional fight duration upon myself but once I had the group tight my healthbar stood still, its an extreme example and in a way a lucky one, but 10, in melee can matter alot. If you have to herd whats really dangerous, do it fast but with a team that can stay back, taunt pulls to a blocked point can bring mobs straight into melee with no worries and no alpha. -
WOW! Bambi Delight Vs Liberty Girl
Incredibly well drawn. Comics are somit you could do goin by that standard. Usually i find somit not there especially in the way of perspective but I cant fault that. Did you come up with the angle and postures yourself or have inspiration? -
Tanks can solo, if you are more into getting the attacks over the primaries you will solo okay at probably half to 3/4 speed of a scrapper. Team tanks tend to be a bit shielded up to take on greater mobs better. However you said "gather a team" which is better than "enter a team", this is because teams made arent necessarily balanced in your ATs favour as in, "dont expect assistance" and missions set arent necessarily well balanced for the average level of the team. Then ofc there are players that spread in a mission as though each one of them is capable of being "point".
-
I dont recommend mixing auras, a suitable amount of a certain foe for one tank maynt be a suitable amount for the other and then like Spad says there can be the "whose got who?" (usually dependent on patch faults).
I personally hate the idea of other tanks in the team. You may want to make adjustments to the direction of fire because its on the team but no the other dumb tank is making that difficult and keeping the direction of fire on the team, the complete reverse of what should be happening.
I know there is a post on all tank teams in another thread and that aint so bad unless all tanks bring foes to the 1 itty bitty icetank -
If Fire/Ice was effecting the balance of other sets then its not fair. Itll be better to have the fear component making mobs try to roll off the ice (which is fast and easy) not having most other ATs be less effective (and I am not saying they are). Id give the burn on icepatch giving a 1/3rd better damage output than burn on a fire/fire and then there is burn in teams, blasters can patch, controllers can patch and aoe immob etc etc reducing that 1/3rd slightly.
Its a 1/3rd to me cos I use a small AoE but high gauntlet then Burn then larger AoE and so they run out and run back in if they run. -
Yeah I thought it was well written and was actually gripped by it, feeling sorry for the little fella in Atlas. The behaviour of the rookie heroes wasnt nice but I do see some heroes ingame as being no better, so quite thought provoking and real to me.

to be honest, i dont see why people keep coming back to fire/ice being 'overpowered'. even with a damage buff to /ice, fire/ice would still be lower damage and lower survivability than ice/fire, inv/fire or stone/fire...
overpowered my [censored]
[/ QUOTE ]
For the same reason that people still think regen is overpowered, because at one point in the past it was. People have a funny way of assuming that what they were told at one point is always true, to the extent that they discard contradictory statements. Never really understood it myself, but it certainly seems to be the case.
[/ QUOTE ]
Regen isnt underpowered neither, so any "OMG MoG needs a fix" is asking to be overpowered.
I am explaining MoG on one of my regens by saying they have extremophile bacteriums which fits in nicely with regeneration and would be corrupted if it had any usefulness against psionics.
Lag has hindered my progress on this subject of ice melee and mace and the new content on test server just tempts me. Add to that I got 3 weeks off after Friday anyway which is better in the way of uninterrupted time. -
I enjoyed it! Whats especially good about it was that I found it both interesting and easily imagineable from the descriptions.
