There will not be much of a reason to have clickies like this in i13. On SRs in a arena match, if you die, and res you have no Mezz protection. With defense sets being popped off quicker that maybe this powersets downfall depending on what changes are made. So a toggle could be the answer.

This powerset is prolly very immortal with Aid Self but the cast on Aid Self is ugly for tanking. If in controlling an AV I need to taunt and aid self at the same time, I'd have to taunt and take my chances.

    Lvl 1

    Deflection:
    +15% Defense to Melee
+5% Resistance to Smashing and Lethal
    End Cost: .21/s

Omg this is going to suck in the lower levels I mean I remember running around with Rock Armour, yes that armour people come out of Granite for The armour that leaves people not feeling too good but at least this is half stone skin. I'd make the Res in it 10% to give stone skin too as I got no earths embrace this time.

    Lvl 1

    Battle Agility:
+15% Defense to Ranged and AoE
    +17.3% Resistance to Defense *
    End Cost: .21/s

This is running with the Res to Def Debuff that Rock Amours got. Deflection would be Rock Armour if the resists in it was here and the def debuff res was there.

    Lvl 2

    Phalanx Fighting:
+1% Defense to All for each friendly entity within 8' (Max of 7)
    End Cost: Auto Power

So does 10% Res to S and L make up for a lack of heal combined with this defense that you'd never see? I'd make this buff to 7% by a likely 2 people in 10' AoE. This way by this point I would be like an SR tank except lacking in their resistances to other damage types. Do I care yet? Only with Toxic. I care about Toxic Res early! Once you pack say 8 enemies in 8ft for Against All Odds, you then have guys on the outside but within 10ft which is 1 guys melee range + another guys melee range and meh phalanxes get broken anyway.

    Lvl 6

    Active Defense:
Protection to Sleep, Disorient, Fear, Immobilize, Confusion, Repel, Knockback, Hold
Resistence to Defense Debuffs (21.63% and is enhanceable) This power now correctly shows that is is mez protection rather than resistance
    End Cost: 10.4
    Duration: 120 seconds
    Recharge: 200 seconds

That's gonna be a superb power to have.

    Lvl 8

    Against All Odds:
    Taunt
+15% Damage Buff (For each enemy within 8', max of 10)*
    End Cost: .21
(This power's damage buff was changed from 25% to 15%.)

I think I'd rather the damage buff at 50 than people next to me for a paltry def buff which is why Fighting Phalanx became 10'. You can atleast then give that power a chance. This power is good anyways. I think that with this set your pretty survivable at the start of a fight but if its a fight guaranteed to be of long duration then your survivability could lower. With AVs I would count on it. For typical team missions this is very good. I would also add all the Toxic Resist we are due to have later right here cos of its name "Against All Odds". Lvl 26 for 5% is painfully late and painfully small.

    Lvl 12

    Grant Cover:
11.7% Defense to All for teammates within 15' (The "Does not include self" tag was removed)
    End Cost: .19end/s

So you can grant cover with the shield out to 15'. I'd be 15' ranged, 10' melee and 0ft AoE, its a nerf, its more realistic imo, it being a nerf will help pay for the changes above I would think. I usually wouldn't want people who smell like Defs, Cont and Blappers next to me anyway.

    Lvl 18

    Shield Charge:
    ~1.3 Smashing Damage (Damage Scalar)
    Activiation Time: 2.87s
    Recharge: 90s
    Endurance: 13.52
Attack Type: Cone-- 60ft radius, 30 degree arc. Ten targets max. 70% chance for .64 mag knockback.

That sounds really cool. The 60ft isn't quite outside Boss perception range I don't think. Its roughly 44', 54' and 64' we usually have to worry about. A range slot here me thinks.

    Lvl 26

    True Grit:
    +140.56 HP
+5% Resistance to Fire, Cold, Energy, Negative Energy, and Toxic
    End Cost: Auto Power

In comparing it to my SR the +HP is practically where I'd want it to be with accolades so this is ++ . This is late Toxic Resistance and m00t at that...crumbs when it comes to Toxic XD.

    Lvl 32

    One With the Shield:
30% Resistance to Smashing and Lethal
15% Resistance to Fire, Cold, Energy, Negative Energy, Toxic
    +30% of Recovery
Protection from Disorient, Immobilize, Hold, Knockback, Repel, and Sleep
    -60 End after two minutes.
    Duration: 120 seconds
    Recharge: 360 seconds
    End Cost: 2.6

I think that for something that is up 1/3rd of the time with such small bonuses; -60 end is heavy. -60 end every 6 mins isn't heavy. I love Unstoppable despite that it takes all of your end down to 0. Unstoppable can be up 3/5ths of your time for a more comforting 180 secs uptime 120secs down time easy, where as this is 1/3rd of the time for 120 secs up 240 down. I find 180 secs valuable personally as an SR and Invuln and I would rather this have 180 secs up 180 down This will then have this tier up 50% of the time which is not quite 3/5ths but close. I would rather not have a full end crash on this character. Lack of passives means it can afford that even less. For the duration going up 50% the end crash could go up 50% but then you would lose 90% end which depending on your endurance could mean your detoggled. With so little in terms of passives and HP I would rather a gazump to 10 endurance points like MoG crashed.

The total defense of 41%, (not inclusive of Phalanx Fighting I don't think) meaning that your practically eluded with combat jump just to get; is not overpowered when you think of what the other Tankers have got going for them.

OK if I see those changes I'd be happier.

Edited: So that I could understand me better XD

    Basically looks bad then.

I ask people in game "Are they looking forward to it?" and the answer's "No". Must be the most disappointing set to ever come out. An anti climax. Who wants -60 end after 2 minutes?

It's looking like people would make one for the sake of having one. The Talsorian Shield could be a main attraction so well done Babs on a good looking powerset I say.

I am never pessimistic am I? Well atleast this shows I can be.

What I recently did with someone via private tells is see what they can come up with making suggestions here and there. Their build is more them than me and they did all the work. If they don't like a suggestion they can choose to keep things as is despite me reiterating anything I feel strongly about changing. You or someone would have to come up with a more serious build, as in, slot Stone armour properly like most people would and slot Energy Melee properly like most people would. You can get info from a Stone tank for Stone armour and get info from an /Energy tank for EM and join them together to get started. Your current build is so far off really but if that is deliberate to be insane then I'd advise on letting it stay that way.

Fair enough I had been told there was directions. I just went and looked at Cleave which I knew was described as knockdown and it is KB 0.67. I never looked before as it was called knockdown and as long as it was knockdown who the hell cares what Mag it is.

    Says here knockback.

Knock up, Knockdown and Knockback are 3 different directions. If they're small it don't matter.

I think you are missing how the power could be used.

Situation 1) a group of melee types vs an AV. Since AVs are the only thing that can ever pose a real threat in this game, its only AV fight performance that matters anyway.

Situation 2) You are an extra tank, or normal tanker stratagies aren't appropiate for the current threat. You can double as an extra defender, you stay within range of the squishy (and don't taunt if your foe has aoes), they don't follow you.

What you aren't going to be doing is trying to defend all the team all the time with GC. It would be situational.

It wouldn't be for somone who is totally wedded to typical tanker playstyle, but then they can always skip the power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nah, I do realize that melee characters can benefit and simply regard scrappers as non squishie. There should be no 'having to be a second tank'. That should be entirely optional. Within the set one should 'potentially' be able to get by without being too fussy about team make up, and without seeing the offense I am not sure this measures up. I think on its own it's built to be too fussy either on power picks or support.

One think though, there is no knockback power in Shields.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I still call a 70% chance, 0.64 mag kb in shield charge a kb due to the direction. They taking it out? (I been too preoccupied to keep following).
  11. I can see how Consume is fine as it is, I hasten mine but as for FA I do think even with the changes to Temp Protection it'll still want something. Fire needs excuses to resist secondary effects partly because with so little defense its going to be worst it by all. It's one good thing is that -Def is meaningless. End drain resistance and resistance to -fly I am all for now.

If there is endurance problems then think in terms of damage per endurance over time to multiple targets and then damage per endurance to a single target. With consume the more numbers the greater the buff so I save end modding to last and have its rechg up first.

Yep I am now thinking about it. Dual Builds leaves me with less to gripe about and how powers will work in PvP will change too.

If I get into team PvP on a tank then I hope I done enough trolling of PvPers to see aggro come my way before I even touch taunt.

Rather than be someone with little more to say than "Doom" why don't we wait and see. Otherwise you'll become like a scratched record. You can't help the future, what will be will be and for all we know you could be someone here from another game crying wolf to create a "feeling" in this one just for kicks it's better to create a more positive atmosphere if you like this game than a negative one. By being so negative I wonder what your intentions are.
  21. I think the economy is going to be more of a worry on all games. People may not give up on this game because they have worked hardest on it. In going to a new game we would lower the population of this one. Let's say we all did it and perhaps found the new game didn't measure up. We all then try to come back, only to find that this game is closed due to too low a population. I think that the best plan would be for NCNC to concentrate on the people they have, give us more of what we want sooner and that is exactly looking to be the way of things.

How things will turn out could come down to many things. I plan to play CO when it comes out and play this one. Spending money is fighting the depression and seeing as I know I would spend more money in 1 night down the pub than a whole months worth of gaming. Such is my plan.

If we can as players, be nice and treat each other with respect and by that apart from the obvious I also mean I try to value your concepts as well as you value mine and work together then there is less reason to leave. At the start of any new game you will get powergamers who want, expect and need efficiency hiring and firing, this game is nicer as its weathered and powergamers have moved on to other games (to be the best at ) so we should build on it and just have fun.

It's not good for a publisher to cut too low on games on offer and I think there is possibly interest in seeing as much as 6 more years of life in this one. Given that it's flexible and polished, and the Dev team have been expanding, ok NCSoft have been contracting and a game has been canned, the fight is on to keep things going.
  22. I got several salvage tables full of IOs now and if I decide to PvP on a Kheld that's when I will IO set it. I have my pure build concept character for PvE which is just about fine. If I don't decide to PvP with one then I may have a Dwarf and Nova Heavy build with human form for self buffs in between that for once include powerpools that may still work in PvP.
  23. New Dawn

    Fire/Mace build

I "highly" recommend Hasten for starting out an early build, but then after that everything can change, although in every single case of mine it don't. I have to have hasten! Oh wait! Not on my Willpower XD.

I am not convinced people know how great on Vahz Fire is. It it is a matter of practically spamming healing flames, that is even running between groups, you know when you've done one branch and head to another. With Hasted Healing Flames I get upto 80% res to Toxic iirc. I know later everything gets mullered fast but that's later.
  24. I doubt I ever will or other people for that matter unless I PvP. Normally when things go bad its either the defender is not perceptive enough even when the dynamics are right or the dynamics are bad and the impossible is expected really.

Never have I seen much in the way of reasons to superslot except for finding ways to effectively have more slots.

Some defenders would waste a heap load of recharge bonuses because they let their powers sit in their tray, be it idly reactive rocking the aura or totally utterly lost in their attack chains that it is quicker to text them and ask them for help than wait. I occasionally let powers sit, either with 1 fort or RAs waiting for the moment its actually needed but that's normally on teams I can't quite determine how things are going to go. Like I say though a lot is determined on the team dynamics. I have been on a PuG STF and the Tank ran in and the AV ran out and smacked me straight after one shotting the controller. I wasn't going to give up all of my day on that. There was too many wrongs to put right. First flaw was not heeding my buff call and second was on the Tank who ran in, knowing the AV was present but not locking him down, when we would of got to 54s I dread to think.

In PvE if all is done right then straight forward SOs is fine. I spent most my empathy time with empathy and psionic mastery before trying the leaderships and power mastery, I found very little to no difference in finding myself enough to help a team. Although they're are nice to have and I believe in people being able to be pacifistic. So for me there is a difference between being able to and needing to max out so what I do is unsurprisingly pretty basic and it means I worry about other toons first.

Empathy/Dark had been pieced together as the better empathy combo right at the beginning but in meeting some of those that did, I wish they were a little more into how other peoples sets worked rather than just their own and got into game mechanics more as its more than just the build, having said that though at the time I couldn't talk but I knew that I should not hover above Jaegers spamming the aura.
  25. New Dawn

    Fire/Mace build

I couldnt have a firetank without kb protection by 20. Lack of it can scotch you up without hover. Otherwise it looks okay however I like my haste in early on healing flames and consume. I do end up pushing fitness back as a result but its not actually too bad a thing to do.
