Quote:With the presence pool (or heck their pitiful taunt ability) and solid support from their team a scrapper can tank, they may not be able to tank a GM or Lord Recluse, but they can tank an 8 man spawn.
Tanking is staying up and managing agro, many scrappers can do this. So yes a scrapper can tank. It is true that a Scrapper is not a Tanker.
Some Scrappers can tank, just not as well. Your use of may is alright as tanking GMs and Lord Recluse, by some peoples scrappers, gets done. -
You get a girlfriend and continue to play this?
/facepalm
Gratz anyway. -
Quote:Add accolades to your build, use the places where you've technically not made the most of a slot to later change for a +regen +rec enh bonus where you can. You can even +perma dullpain and use that + accolades to slot for other things than so much +hp bonuses. You can probably from there look at other bonuses such as +fire/cold def and +tohit. When I downloaded your build it was in PvP mode and if you are going to PvP then taunt I'd imagine with its -range and helping to act as a placate for other people is very handy.I would like to get either Conserve Power or Focused Accuracy (although the +to-hit from Invincibility could be sufficient ?!) plus Physical Perfection for more regen/recovery, but I have no idea what powers to drop for those. One passive resist power seems obvious, but I don't see what the second power could be. Perhaps Hasten ?!

This thread is a little old, like 2 years old, and yet someone recently down repped me on it, giving a personal opinion that serves no purpose. If they have something to dispute openly I'd prefer that.

Quote:Someone down repped me for this post and wrote this:With my Kheldin00bs I called my PB Cassieopeia and my WS Ulyssa. Ulyssa is basically far traveller and Cassieopeia is a version of Cassiopeia which means beautiful or something but is a spelling version of the star constellation (its 2 latinised greek spellings mixed) but i prolly subconciously nicked it from Battlestar Galactica.
"I wonder if her rep would decrease if she changed her avatar, as she does not provide solid proof on matters of gameplay, and isn't exactly accurate when talking about said powers, in game."
Anyone who has a problem and wrote this should do themselves a favour and own up. Talk about it openly.
I do gloss over things so as not to affect peoples gameplay. Proof comes in from teaming with me on the european servers. Often I may pull a trick that no one has seen before then tell people to keep quiet so as to not affect other peoples gameplay.
I do not know why someone has decided to be a little personal with me. -
I put peoples concepts before fast paced teams. Sub 45 min STFs aren't hard once you have a team specced for it. In fact I prefer to not rinse and repeat stuff so having to team with new sets all the time helps to make things a bit more interesting. For a defender it will suffice. The main thing is that their is potentially enough team survivability attainable using some dynamic or other.

I made up for my lack of damage by assisting the team. If they're not held or slept or locked in their own personal battles then they can more competently assist the team. If everyone is free to use their powers to best assist each other then problems can go away.
I will have no doubts in that sometimes the problem comes from some people having powers that could help, in their tray, just sitting there or from people using a power that creates problems because it was in their tray just sitting there. Everyone in the team should aim to help everyone else to the best of their abilities. The game is built to require teamwork. As a result it helps to learn what to expect off of other people. Problems can disappear on the account that you have suggested something to someone.
I often try to directly prod the prodigy with the abilities to "best solve" the problem into finding the solution themselves but then I have no ego with my toons and a few more defeats won't hurt whilst they come to work it out. A simple hold on a certain target maybe all it was.
The way to know what is wrong is from seeing what is wrong, so it is a good idea to find someone from the forums who can team with you and offer an opinion. -
Some Tankers I have to lower my DPS around, or wait that extra few seconds before debuffing which I wouldn't normally with some others. This is so as to not have more than I can handle. Can it mean that by having to hold back the team is losing in some efficiency? It can.
I don't believe that Tankers are needed, but if all they are is some guy at the front taking an alpha, and keeping some enemies, then hell I could prefer a Scrapper in their place. Tankers have to do more to aid the teams assault in order to make up for their lack of damage than a scrapper ordinarily can. Other members of the team should be more efficient from a tanker in front than a scrapper in front. If I, as a Blaster am locked in my own personal battle, with a small off shoot of the enemy group, then it's likely that I am now having to only hit 4 instead of 16 and utilize controls instead of dealing straight damage. I don't have to blame the offshoot on the tanker, but that fact that I could be striking against the main bulk of the group can come down to the tanker. -

I much rather let those who want to be without taunt to carry on without taunt.
Simply let players pick and choose the people they like to team with.
I can tank the STF as a scrapper with confront, tank all the AVs, for a team without a defender or a controller and not die. I must know something. By doing any of it I show that no type of defender or controller is needed, like some crutch to a man who is missing a leg.
I'd much rather see tanks with it than without. Real life Masters of Distraction have been known to save lives and so there is nothing unacceptable about Taunt as a heroic power. -

Love? I don't do love. I have quick, dirty moments with all my characters.

Quote:Or he could be being diplomatically getting rid of you! It's a sad day when my reformed WoW friend who's starting to get into CoH actually tells me that he wants to solo instead of duoing because I'm too good at support and he wants to know how good he actually is on his own.
Playing Defenders, I've been turned down by my RL friend because I'm too good at support!
I guess I'm too sexy with Defenders to team.
Seriously though, there is no need to solo to 50 to know and develop a character. Often the character will be make or break on its ability to team too. -

Export with data block using phpBB/Zetaboards code plus data chunk and it might get looked at.

There are situations in the game where taunt is used to and note "best protect" the rest of the team. However some people hate that and so it is among many players you can be either loved or vilified for being with or without.

I'd trust you to do a cracking job on this one Babs and its worth the time and resources imo. It would mean that the female stonetanks will remain feminine and that would be good.
-
I think I'd be happy seeing Scrappers or Defenders winning this year. Didn't Tankers win last year? Scrappers are so under rated in teams whilst many types of Defenders don't get the dynamics that are preferable. Us tankers voting ourselves out to give either of them a chance would be in line with what our AT does! I might do that and with that they can't gloat to us about it because we made it so!
-
A Scrapper pulling a single tanker taunted target at a time is most likely depending on the type of tanker and both their proximities to the enemy. I think a scrapper being able to do that is fine.

I find hurl a good power, just more useful to a grounded player, if going for the flight pool I normally take Air Sup.
I did a quick, not thorough, reinterpretation as I have not much time. Dark regen is less of an end hungry power but prefers numbers for a better heal.
