Hey all, if random pairings are an issue you can always use the Lethal Lottery format which was crazy fun in the day.
I've seen it done 2 v 2 and 3 v 3, essentially all the names went into a pool and got drawn into teams; the catch was that you couldn't re-team with the same person in consecutive rounds until the final rounds. Basically, each person got points based on their wins and those with the most points faced off in a final 3 v 3 at the end.
It had some...interesting results the last few times, being pared with Void on his Stalker was very cool and doing a duo-emp with Girl Sixx was pretty funny hehehe.
If the idea is to simply add a single free agent/random to the mix, it's even easier since you just need to roll a single six-sided die to determine outcomes. Either way, I'm sure Kat and Amy can figure something out in an amicable manner so that most people are happy.
GLHF hope to join one of these if they get done on a non-Saturday

I have one, Stone Melee/Energy Aura and farm Nemesis with it. Fully slotted with Kinetic Combats and anything that gave me +Defense though, probably wouldn't be too good "out of the box" I suppose.
Probably not Tier 1 if you were a power gamer type, but very enjoyable for me personally. -

Who can take line-ups for us and TWSS tomorrow night?
We may be bringing a craaaaaaaazeeeee line-up for match two!

Quote:I sincerely hope that the Developers occasionally log into the live servers, as sometimes the best laid plans of mice and men...Well, at PAX East, Positron did say that the new zone events were the Incarnate endgame content - no mention was made of any other type of Incarnate content.
EDIT: Go to 6:00 here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT9O0HM2-QM
The GR bit is out of date now, but the basic system details are interesting.
Problems with zone events in general:
i)Need outside triggers, like Lady Grey for zone raids or salvage redemption for Zombie Apocalypse;
ii)Low-pop servers might only draw 15-20 people in zone;
iii)Zone content focused only on level 50s doesn't exactly jibe well with the Super Sidekick system or the pick-up nature of the game;
iv)People get bored of zone events after about 5-10 minutes. Expecting people to exit more profitable missions (Influence, experience gains, merits, drops) to go fight "the big threat" is...naive, to be nice about it.
All those factors together would lead one to hope that the Devs have learned from previous iterations of zone events. Players want control over their environment and they want to be able to participate. IMO, there just aren't a lot of level 50s out there compared to the level 1-25 band. Part of this is due to altitis, boredom with the game and a perception of there being not much to do with the game at level cap.
I'm not in Beta...but if I had one piece of advice to give to the planners, it's that they not put all their eggs into the zone event basket.
I'll be brutally honest. I like soloing and I like doing task forces and missions. I don't generally street sweep unless bored or do zone defeats unless tied to an accolade or greater reward. Once I get badges for zone iterations I generally leave them alone.
One hopes that there will be more to the Incarnate System than just mad zerg rushes of Rikti Warships, Zombies, New Event Things and so on. In fact, the Devs should be planning at least one, if not more, level 45-50 or even level 50 Task Force/Strike Force in which Incarnate abilities will be a definite asset, though not an exact requirement, since Jane and John SuperDoe may want to try it with their friends and being locked out would be proverbial, dare I say it, slap in the face.
-
That's cos these are the Champions my friend...
To the OP: You're more likely to see Scrappers trowing sharks and Hibernoobing in Going Rogue than seeing the Dev team go back on its I13 blueprint and associated changes...
-
If the Alpha Slot does not exemplar down, it might be best for it to undergo more testing and tweaking, as the power creep the slots offer will need to impress substantially to overcome my purples and PvPIOs exemplaring down, as I run several Task Forces per week and don't want dead slots...

Welcome,
It's a fun game you've joined; please familiarize yourself with the global channel system as it is a godsend for finding teams.
You might be better off starting on Freedom or Virtue for insane amounts of teaming, then move to a quieter server once you've got a solid hang of the game. Do not hesitate to ask questions on any topic ingame or here!
Have fun, take your time and enjoy! -
Quote:^^^ This.I understand the reasoning, but this news worries me, push it back once means it can be pushed back twice. Just hope that the Incarnate system doesn't get shelved the way CoP did and we have to wait 5 years for it to re emerge, having a initial level in GR kind of guaranteed they had to continue development, without that level they can take the entire system back to formula, I don't think the game can survive that long without post 50 content. GR buys some time to pay with new gizmo's but I'll be jumping ship for TOR completely next spring if my 50's don't have anything new to do or work towards.
ITF and Lady Grey aren't cutting it anymore, need 50 and "post"-50 content in the baddest way please. -
Lame.
So there's no way for us to buff our 50s and nothing but Cathedral of Pain to do?
I'd rather have an Alpha Slot to power up all my level 50 alts than nothing at all. The Incarnate system's first step was said to be with Going Rogue, now it isn't...when do we get the new goodies?

Quote:Didn't mean to get your soup boiling.no it doesn't need any forced teaming. and i am from infinity. i see plenty of people running around. anyone that has been on for any length of time can tell you that, and i don't believe i have to say this every time this stupid subject comes up, it is the summer. people doing things with their families and everything. just like every god damn time a holiday comes up or people go back to school, the servers will look like no one is on because people are doing their own thing before getting back into the game.
seriously, i have ******* had it with these types of threads poping up. do you guys even realize that every time you post these types of threads, and no you do not have to join the forums to read them, you are discouraging new players from even joining the game? enough is enough already.
Basically, what I'd like is a feature where if you're new or alone you can get assigned to a team. So the new player that's having fun but not really aware of the teaming ropes can find more people ingame without having to go through global channels, forums, etc etc.
Exactly this. Anything that can make teaming easier for newer players or new server arrivals would be great.Quote:yo dude chill out and go have a shot or something you read that completely wrong, It's not forced teaming its called an auto team feature cause teams put them selfs on it maybe say in a description what they could use AT wise and anyone could auto join themselfs without needing a invite.
They have this in DDO and I think maybe WOW(never played not 100%) but its a great feature.
You wouldn't have to turn auto-team on or anything, Devs have been great with opt outs...but it would be great to have, given the disparity between indoors and outdoors teaming.

Quote:I ran into this same situation, same server and side yesterday. Someone was broadcasting BRUTE LFT! over and over, so I invited him to my team and we took down the Vindicators.
True story:
The other day I was on Infinity about to zone from Port Oakes to Cap when I heard another player pleading for people to team with. He was actually saying that he thought he was alone in the game. I did tell him that he wasn't, but I was kind of pressed for time and about to log off so I couldn't really talk to him at length.
That's not the first time I've seen that kind of thing. And as fine as we all may think the player population is, perception to newer players is a big thing.
.
He was really happy...he thought no one was playing the game anymore.
This game really needs an auto-team feature, that makes a pug so that new players aren't stranded and discouraged when they're alone. -
I'd like to invade the Goat's thread to bemoan my lack of luck with the RNG.
While fiddling around in Abyss' Defeat Vindicators arc, I received a Heactomb: Damage/Endurance, Absolute Amazement: Recharge/Accuracy and a LOTG 7.5 off the Merit roll, the latter of which was the final slot in my Mind/Fire Dom's new build.
The random generator is random: I can't prove I get good drops, but I will be richer on the morrow.
Nice screenies Goat. I've occasionally flipped stuff, but mostly I fill your tin cans due to impatience!

There are two big raids:
Hamidon, which can take between 10-40 people to complete and gives a Hamidon multi-purpose enhancement, kinda split Single Origin, which are still used despite IOs being very popular. This is a 45-50 event in The Hive heroside or the Abyss redside.
The Mothership Raids in the Rikti War Zone allow you to accumulate Vanguard Merits, influence/prestige and debt in that order. You're probably better off doing these at level cap or at least in your mid-40s since you'll be attacked by level 54 Rikti during the saucer assault.
A lot of the team grouping comes from task forces and channels and supergroup teams. Not sure which of the EU servers is most populated, but that might be a place to start and look for a team.
While most of the content of the game is point, shoot, repeat...it's the variety of ways you can fry enemies that keeps people coming back, the mostly casual nature of the game and the many shiny costumes.
Hope you stick around to enjoy the game. -
The only times I set rules is during a Master run or a farm, if it involves not clicking blinkies and so on. Rest of the time, go nuts and attack as you wish as long as you aren't triggering undue ambushes.
Basically, don't be an anchor on the team and contribute in some manner...opening a can of worms here, but if you have team buffs and you don't cast your team buffs, gentle reminders will be given out.

This is an absolutely terrible idea.
Being in a somewhat unique situation on top of the secrecy necessary for my work (revision and translation of classified information), revelation of personal information of our account holders (two people alternate payments) would be disastrous and likely make us reconsider keeping our accounts active.
We all know no one is truly anonymous on the Internet; that said, there is an expectation or desire for some degree of anonymity at the micro-level in forums, games, chat rooms and so on. Outside of the very real dangers of physical violence, stalking and worse, this simply betrays the trust the company and the client share...you know, where it says in the EULA private information is private.
Add me to the growing list of people that won't be re-subbing to a Blizzard product or trying out any of their new stuff.
-
I don't know if this is still running, but I'd like to help in a mentoring role on Pinnacle/Champion; filled out the application on the forums.
-
Release date for this will be August 17 with Going Rogue or we getting it a little earlier?
Also, sweet stuff on the CoP coming back, but hopefully it can be started by "less" than 24 people...would be nice to bring a team full of Colds and Blasters/Scrappers to tear that thing apart.
Absolutely cannot wait for cross-faction trading and united auction houses, good stuff! -
Quote:Ok, can you at least flip the switch on live so that people that want raids can raid each other for fun? Base raids were incredibly enjoyable in the day, with the bubbles and all that going around, the recessed floors, it was player created content (bases) AND PvP.
Base Raiding is currently on hold and not being actively worked on. We understand that this may disappoint some of you in the PvP community, but we wanted to tell it to you straight to minimize any confusion or false hope that Base Raiding would be addressed in this new iteration of the Cathedral of Pain.
Thanks,
Ghost Falcon
Simply set a switch under SG options that your base isn't raidable if players don't want to go there.
^^^ This.
Repel Ball was crazy fun, anything that would bring it back should be looked at in the future. -
AR/Elec Blaster
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EARb4s9KVk8
'nuff said.
Seriously, a Psi/EM Blaster, Elec/Willpower Stalker, Grav/TA Controller, Mind/Emp or Ill/Emp Controller...or a Scrapper of some kind if you want to have fun.

Quote:Were there rules agreed to about abstaining from this at the beginning?It's not policeable. Who's to say that you didn't get that 21st Respite off a kill to the other team.Quote:There is no rule against emailing inspirations. Making such a rule would be pointless being we cannot enforce it. It is of course not very sportsman like, but that is irrelevant.
The solution is pretty simple though: manage your insps and don't be bad.
In a 10 minute match, if you have a self-heal and Respites you should be able to survive a few spikes. If you have PFF on your Blaster, use it to get some breathing room while your support (if you have it) catches up to you; or Hiber or Phase, which you can do four times per match to get 30 seconds recovery time.
Also, peer/community pressure works well in such cases. Put it this way...people that Arena expect certain standards/settings. If a group contravenes the settings, less people will show up...less people show up you have no one to play against, etc.

Anyway, GL HF. Hoping to drop by next week as a Free Agent wit an Emp, see how it goes. -

As a citizen of Paragon City, it has been my pleasure to protect and serve at all levels of the hierarchy, always aware that without the citizens of Paragon, we simply would not have work.
Recently, a spate of...shall we call it junk mail, has arrived not in Gleemail (those pesky RMTers are elsewhere) and not in my private channels, but rather in the form of rewards from the foes we encounter in our travails.
I speak, of course, of the rash of new gadgets that have been flooding our pockets for the past while.
Allow me to be clear. I love new gadgets and encourage their production, but when is too much clearly enough? Sure, I can use a Plasmatic Taser...if I'm too bored to Levitate the offending victim 60 feet off the ground. The Resuscitator has proven invaluable when dealing with a group of gung-ho strangers. Jet packs are always welcome, especially for those without the ability to travel vertically.
Still...it seems like there is too much of a good thing here? When, after adventuring deep in Cimerora or Grandville, I return with a pocket full of gadgets I have already created and crafted...a problem arises. Doubly so when the Black Market and Wentworth's simply will not barter these items due to their increased occurences.
Far be it from me to ask for less of something, but could the gadgeteers creating these items perhaps slow their circulation just a bit? Just a teensy, weensy bit? You know there's an issue when vendors roll their eyes when you show them another Envenomed Dagger.
What to do? These items are so common as to make the various costume recipes seem as a distant El Dorado, and we've all collected those abundantly in the past.
The solution is twofold:
i)Slightly reduced production of gadgets. Those gadgets which heroes and villains aspire to will be available through the Markets and other channels, their increased value giving players a reason to trade them or sell them;
ii)Consider setting some of these gadgets for release by security level or threat level, much as the Power Analyzer scanners are distributed. A jetpack is much more useful, for example, before one's physical fitness requirements are complete and a travel power has been obtained. Tasers are always useful, if only for their 'cleanliness' in dealing with threats;
iii)Nemesis ponies for all of us, the angry mob is forming as we speak in hopes of new Going Rogue info.
