First after Marut.
Marut, try the Cathdral of Pain when it's back out, for level 50s and apparently a large group of people to complete it...and there's a badge.

Quote:This is also my experience. I have Tough on mine (no Weave) and have slotted Kinetic Combats and one of the Stun sets adds +Defense (forget the name at the moment)...I have around 43% Smashing Defense and a good amount of Lethal/Fire Defense too. These days I farm Battle Maiden mobs in AE when I want easy mode or Nemesis when I want to pay attention to gameplay, fun stuff.
Then I went back and used what Mr Body described as a template. I dropped Overload and took Tough and Weave. Put 3 resistances in Tough and 2 defenses in Weave and Cloak (I ran out of slots). Unlike Mr Body's build I kept both the passives.
Lavish Glory on Infinity if you want to see my setup.

Quote:End-game stuffOk i know this game isn't WoW but does it have end game stuff like raiding or what i m just trying to grasp everything and figure out if its going to be just a game where i solo a lot or i can actually find a group to do stuff with. Also is that game get better as you progress in lvl or does it stay about the same thru out the whole game?
Task/Strike Forces
Statesman and Recluse Task Forces can be pretty daunting on pick-up groups and can get steamrolled in under 30 minutes by savvy players. Before joining one of these, find a group of regulars so you don't get discouraged. They do offer Hamidon Enhancements, some of which are still quite used while others are bunk (looking at you, Centriole Exposure...).
Heroside has the Shadow Shard task forces but they can be pretty long and tedious, but the view is great from the car.
The Rikti War Zone (look for a "V" on the map in Atlas Park, Peregrine Island, Founders' Falls, Cap au Diable, Grandville and St. Martial) has a gigantic flying saucer that a large group of people can raid for Vanguard Merits, which you can turn in for a temporary robot, costume pieces, extra salvage storage and so on...be sure to speak with Levantera at level 35 to unlock the Member of Vanguard badge so you can earn the Merits. Lady Grey also has a co-op 45-50 tf which is fun.
Speaking of that...doing Ashley McKnight (in Cap) or Montague Castanella (in Steel Canyon) arc will unlock Cimerora and the Imperious Task Force (ITF). If anything is run to death in this game, it's ITF as you can do it fairly quickly, it grants 26 Merits and it can drop purples.
There are also a lot of story arcs and they can get "tougher". The mobs tend to have a lot more status effects at higher levels, Malta are especially tough as they are built to take out supers with end drain, stuns, robots, their friends the Knives of Artemis use caltrops and big swords...fun people.
Hamidon Raids are basically you against a blob, 45+ raid so keep your ears open on your badge channels and server forums for when they take place. These grant...52 Merits (?) or a Hamidon Origin enhancement. Well-tuned groups can just breeze this.
Outside of that, there are tons of Story Arcs which can have interesting stories and you should get an Ouroboros portal once you reach 25 (ask for one to be dropped for you then hit the top of the spire in there for the badge and portal) where you can 'flash back' all the arcs in the game...
There's also PvP, but if you're going to get your feet wet here...join a 'friendly' under PvPEC guidance so you don't get rolled too badly.
As a meta-aspect, the Invention system lets you boost your character through permanent enhancements (the non-purple, non pvpIO ones scale to 3 levels...it's kinda convoluted so see the Market section for more info) and there is the costume creator, supergroups, the upcoming Cathedral of Pain...
The game is pretty much always about shooting stuff but at higher levels the mobs get more obnoxious and have more status effects/attacks to keep up with your progression. -
Quote:Agreed, if I had more slots I'd be selling a lot more stuff, seeing I have bins upon bins of items I don't list out of frustration to their abundant supply (Thunderstrikes, Doctored Wounds, Crushing Impacts, etc) and scarce return.Actually, it is because too many people look at a slow moving item and say "I only have x number of slots, do I really want to tie down 8 of them with bids on this item at several levels and hope that one fills but not 2 or 3, when I could be selling" or "I only have x slots, do I really want to list this Mailaise's Illusion at level 32 that will probably sit for a month, or do I want to sell common salvage..."
I'd rather be able to list as many items as I want and bid on as many as I want and never have any of us forced to delete items or vendor them. I want us to be able to post and sell and bid as much as we want.
I see the Goat's comment about hoarding, and I do understand it, but I think that more slots will encourage more selling rather than more hording. This is based on the supply being so heavily influenced by farmers and other power players who generate huge supply. I might be wrong, but I think they would rather sell than horde.
Actually, if we're going to Magic Pony land, what I would really, really want is seperate buy and sell slots. Say you have 20 slots available...20 of them would be for sales only and 20 for purchases. Of course, feel free to "doom" the idea but it seems, at first brush, you might be executing more transactions in this manner. -
Not meaning to expand this discussion too much, but I wonder how much "dead inf" there is floating around the game...
I have tens to hundreds of millions on characters that isn't actually working for me, more out of laziness than anything else, to be sure. Once you have a toon kitted out, the only thing left is to kit another toon out and another...since you're never alone in any situation, how many players are sitting on gobs of inf and just not using it? When PvPIOs went live, I made an effort to accumulate a fund to grab some early. Likewise, if the Incarnate system offers tradeable or saleable goods, I expect inf to be drained out of that system in that capacity.
The game "needs" a few inf sinks. Crafting items drains away items and so does selling them via the auction houses, inspiration purchases and so on...but a voluntary inf sink, perhaps inf to Merits would be nice and might do something to "redress" the economy, if it needs such at all.
The Devs may have been onto something with the crafting cost of purples, don't they cost half a million each or somesuch? Maybe the Incarnate IOs...if there are any, will cost a million each to craft...or more!

Quote:It is easy to make money but a new player walking into the Market and seeing a high price will be surprised, if not discouraged, by that price. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever, besides complete lack of effort, that a casual player cannot get every item they can possibly desire. And I'm completely serious about that.
As many of you know, I conducted an experiment (linked in my sig) to show what a player can make casually playing for a couple hours a day. The experiment was conducted precisely to silence these sorts of statements that everything is too expensive, market is out of control, players *have to* use RMT to afford stuff, blah, blah.
I honestly don't know what else I can do to spell out how ridiculously easy it is to make what you want in this game.
There may be a dissonance here, that a player sees 100,000,000 as a price and goes: "Wow, 100,000,000 irl will get me so much stuff but that's the price of one item?" whereas that much can be obtained fairly quickly at level 50.
It's a sticky situation, to be sure. If the supply of the good stuff increases, prices will likely go down but the achiever/seeker types might get bored and those that like to buy and sell such items will find other niches. Players naturally want to get the best stuff. If they find that stuff out of their reach, they may gravitate toward easier games or games where you can get your stuff in a more straightforward manner, rather than random rolls/Merit accumulation.
There certainly is too much inf floating around, but the Devs haven't seen this as an issue, Castle's post and Synapse's big post about the economy sometime back aside...it is interesting that in War Witch's post about the merging, she mentioned other sources acting...here it is:
"The other is not quite such common knowledge. Out of nowhere, Wentworth’s has gained access to new suppliers, but all suspicions and investigations have been stymied by the immaculate paperwork of their new partners. Likewise, the Black Market has suddenly seen a rise in activity, though no one has looked too closely at the ‘why’ so long as the goods are solid. For now, it remains a mystery."
Whether this refers to the Devs seeding the Market, the Going Rogue system players selling their wares, no one knows... -
Has nothing to do with the ladder but...
I logged in my Stone Melee/Energy Aura Brute on another server and get a tell:
RandomD00d: "AE, fat lootz, need a Brute."
Me: "Selling at BM, maybe in a bit."
.821 picoseconds later...
RandomD00d: "u rdy?"
I foolishly accept invite, they're at Mercy AE, all level 4 and running a farm set to +4/x8 against Psi blasting mobs. Everyone is dying...a lot. I tell them to give me star and we'll try something else, then set to BM farm at +1/x6(I like going conservatively with pugs)
After we zone in:
Randomd00d on a MM dies.
Randomd00d2 on a Brute dies.
Randomd00d3 on a Corr dies.
I just keep going, none of the crap can even touch me with capped defenses, they level rez.
Randomd00d: "Err, not to complain but xp is low." At this point, they've all levelled 2-3 times. >.<
Me: "Let me ask you a question. If you could do a job where you got one BIG orange for 30 minutes of work, that could turn into a bottle of OJ or a job where you got 80 medium-sized oranges that gave you MANY bottles of OJ..."
Randomd00d: "wtf we are farming for tix and xp not oranges."
Rnadomd00d2: "lol oranges"
Randomd00d3: "Only orange I like are recipez"
Randomd00d: "lol"
They all aggro stuff and die except for the MM, who is casting Gale at all the mobs...not herding with Gale mind you, just randomly throwing windz around.
Lesson learned: Use the "Hide" feature when logging in to Market for five minutes and never accept invites to AE in Mercy...

To be clear, level 33 recipes/IOs are desirable blueside? My Grav/TA is about to ding 33 with a bunch of Merits; I had been rolling at level 30 and sold some stuff, then was going to wait until level 35 for the rest of the rolls. Should I be rolling at level 35-39?

Welcome back, Freedom is a good choice to start as well as a Scrapper or Blaster. I'd go with the Good vs. Evil because the Pocket D teleport is really, really handy.
Enjoy the game, ask any other questions you may have.

Quote:Well, as long as you can field your starting 4 regularly or in time for a match, no problems. The subs are there in case someone can't make it and the sub can....and on another note. Our alternate "@Tesla Effect" is probably going to be worked out of the roster if possible(No show, and incredibly difficult to get a hold of him). Bringing on Pie was a stop-gap for this match, but his work schedule is going to place him in the "as needed" slot on the team. I understand that changes to the roster could be an issue and need to know what options there are.
JK, can you make this Wed? Like to get a match done with Facegrape... -
Quote:What happened and why a low score of 1-0, were the matches played?Just FYI aftermath of Pocket D match
Captains and Co captains need to discuss which will represent in match If captain fine if Co-Capt fine but only one can speak for the team and take action haveing both communicate with the third party IS NOT ok. Third parties are necessary for match fairness and they are there to help get the match underway. Multiple tells and communication from other members is distracting and takes away from game play. So please have you stuff together prior to showing up in pocket D.
(Captains or Co-Captains ONLY please in communicating to third party) -
Quote:Yes, mostly for the social aspect. I would like to get Merits/Hamis on my namesake but...I don't need either.
1) Are you interested in seeing regularly scheduled blueside Hami raids come back? Why/why not?
No...well...I run a one-person SG atm and most of my evenings are PvP/real life based. Even if I wanted to run one, I doubt I could pull more than 10-20 people in there and the coordination...yeah...I don't think so.Quote:2) Are you interested in leading Hami raids/a raid team? Why/why not?
I'll gladly help though, as always, on any night I don't have a PvP event; EoE gathering, cheerleading, bubbling, whatever...just give me some notice and I'll try to help.
Edit:A reason I haven't been to a lot of raids, outside the above, was because of the perceived time commitment (one hour or so). If raids really are 18-40 minutes long these days, that would definitely be an incentive for myself. With the old raid day being Sunday, I can attend most of these.
Thanks to you tooQuote:Thanks much.

Brutal bud, do you need the inf back? I don't have that much on any one toon but I'm sure fellow Champions could help out.
-
No.
(I generally use the team flag to indicate availability and only "Hide" in PvP zones or Arena.) -

Facegrape, would Wed around 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. work for you guys?
Also, welcome new people.

Hello Noble...
While the architecture in City is "ok" from a looks standpoint, I'd really like to see more imposing structures out there, or even more cityscape areas such as hotels, pharmacies, more restaurants, a cineplex...you know, stuff you would find if you took a drive down your local street.
Now, discussing buildings leads to discussing the interiors of buildings. There are some maps that are...yeah. I'm looking at you, entrance leading to swirly corridor finishing in an elevator leading to another swirly corridor. I know this isn't really your department, and that's fair, but a review of some tilesets would be nice.

Quote:This sounds cool but very convoluted. If zone events that are meant for Incarnate level characters occur in Praetoria...which will have zones spanning the entry band, won't newer characters get squashed or squeezed out of the loop?Well, that would still make it 1-20, and then 50+ - that's still, kind of a big gap

Plus, these zone events - if they do take place in Paretoria - aren't planned for GR - they're part of I19.
The whole "zone event" has me really nervous. Outside of the questions of server population, there's the real possibility of players having erratic schedules and missing out on advancement potential for their Incarnates.
How will people in Paragon or the Rogue Isles even find out about the events, let alone access them? Will there be an "O-Portal" to Praetoria?
Further, zone events in the past have mostly degenerated into a "First come, first served" until badges and rewards are obtained then largely ignored.
I sincerely hope that there will be a Task Force or two or some missions that allow Incarnate advancement or progression or challenges...zone missions sound so dicey as to their potential reception and implementation. -
Kara and the Hardpunchers challenge Facegrape.
Lemme know when is good for you, we can pretty much only do Wednesdays at the moment. -
Carry a Kin for ID or some Sturdy inspirations; also don't base camp.
There's a chance a Grav will end up teleporting you anyway...but that's the breaks. -
Quote:You guys should use the Blaster Dom VEAT Blaster line-up, maybe switch one of the offense for a support, it looks solid. Was lots of fun... We did try something oddballish and lost but all good. Win lose who cares... IT WAS FUN..
Now it off to early night night. I thank the dentist for that
