Just saying.
On the flipside, you can have your account suspended for frivolous petitions. Use judgment and all will be well. -
What Sentry said.
There was a Glad Jav dropped in zone. They do drop, just very infrequently. -
Quote:I was on an ITF and the Emp only had heals and the rez. Was not amusing, but was a couple forming and leading so...If you plan on mainly soloing, the rez and mez protection can be skipped, but both are nice for teaming. Would you skip clear mind or clarity? I also picked up vengeance and like firing it and then giving the dead guy a rez with a little boost. Plus, making your teammates vomit is priceless.
Yeah, will also be going Water Poison. Poison was painful to level back when, hopefully the aoe splash helps things. -
Quote:They have immob procs now in Incarnates, so no need to spam Tenebrous Tentacles to stop Hamidon from moving away...Bah. I run a youth group on 4-6pm Mountain (6-8pm Eastern) every Sunday. I really really miss Hami Raids. I remember when Lord Stryker used to grief them - thats how old I am on the server

Quote:Ideally you need a mix. PvP IOs give you extra range, hit points, kb protect...on top of pve bonuses.I was thinking about this earlier, I still need a mind/fire pvp build and was thinking of ideas myself and was not sure what was a better choice, the PVP IOS or the Purple IO's. What do you guys say?
You usually want some glad jav procs at the very least... -

To plow your enemies, see them despawn before you, and to hear the lamentation of their designers.
"What is good Penny? To defeat Nemesis, see them driven before me and hear the lamentations of their Jaegers."
Gonna be a lot of space platform run at +4 tomorrow. -
Water/Cold Corr
Water/Poison Corr
Can't wait until tomorrow... -
Not to put too fine a point on it, but you could buy individual pieces of Winter's Gift from the elf. If they had a similar vendor (near the popcorn vendor, say) would make things much less grindy...

Quote:This.i dont play through praetoria because it jails your character to praetorian only zones until lvl 20
i dont like heros, cause well i just dont like heroside stuff, so i roll 100% of my toons redside lol
Accolades are so much easier to get redside there isn't any reason to play heroes anymore.
I haven't started an alt in Praetoria in who knows how long. Annoying foes, incomplete badges (Morality) and 20 levels is just too long over there. -
Quote:Only one of my characters lacks Hasten, and she got a ton of Recharge from IOs instead.Sorry, I was going to ignore this issue, but this yanked my chain hard enough that I had to speak out.
Hasten is THE single biggest crutch in this game. It is people who think it is "necessary" on EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER who just aren't very good at this game (or maybe just lazy). Hasten is NOT the legendary "I win" button many people think it is.
However, like powerleveling, it's been out of the bag for far too long now that people see it as "necessary" when nothing is further from the truth. In fact, I can't remember when I last took Hasten on a character. Learn to freaking play your characters instead of shackling them all with a clumsy mechanic and you won't need Hasten either. Srsly. If you feel you just can't play your characters without Hasten it's probably years overdue for the nerf bat. Devs just don't want to deal with the global whining that would take place. Look what happened when they tried to curb farming. Same thing. Favorite crutches that people just can't give up.
There is simply zero reason to play without Hasten, unless the yellow hands bother you. It's 70% global recharge. FREE. Sure, you need to take a power pool choice for it, but you're going to take a travel pool and perhaps Leadership or Fighting...then you can take Speed and get quick horizontal movement AND 70% recharge.
It's just ridiculous, it costs nothing but ugly aura around hands...yeah, you better bet I'm getting it on every one of my alts. That's not laziness, it's maximizing efficiency on my characters. It is exceedingly rare that any of my characters go without either Hasten or five Luck of the Gambler 7.5% Recharge. I like having as many of my powers up as possible at all times.

You might want to try stuff like the Abandoned Sewer Trial, Lady Grey Task Force or a short Shadow Shard sf to see the zone (Augustine?)...andf if you could get on a Cathedral of Pain/Ms. Liberty Task Force those are nice too. -
Quote:Some prefer more damage from their Control sets and go for Fire. What sort of arbitrary scoring system are you using? Mind has vastly superior tools available to it than Ice Control will ever have and at least Mind can set up containment with Mass Hypnosis or Total Domination - Ice Control has to use Frostbite or Glacier, the former of which can be suicidal, because Flash Freeze sucks compared to Mass Hypnosis.
Others don't like the Confuses in Mind.
Mind doesn't have an AoE Immob, which turns some off.
I personally love Mind, have a Mind/Bubble, Mind/Cold, Mind/Fire, Mind/Kin, Mind Energy....list goes on. Reading these threads though, it's pretty clear it's perceived as "Weak". Whether it's the lack of certain status effects is unclear, but there you go.
Edit: What Oedipus Tex said. Other sets probably set up Containment/extra damage much better. For my sub fee though, I'll take Mind just for Mass Confusion, which can be up substantially quicker with IOs...on SOs though I can see it not being TOO overpowered. -
Quote:Gravity:O_T: As been said, people's opinions differ.
If Gravity was not given its improvements, then it would be the clear "winner" of the worst control set. Since it was buffed up it closer to par with ice control.
If you are wondering, its very close between Gravity, Ice and Mind for worst (at least for me) but the fact there is some debate about it suggests the low end is "balanced".
AoE Immob - Good
AoE Hold - Good
Targeted AoE Stun - Good, but kinda jerky as it comes with Wormhole
Lift - Meh, but does some damage
Propel - Meh, even with Buicks coming out of your hands
Dimension Shift - Situational, meh.
Singularity - Great pet but can KB occasionally, has some nice holds though.
Single target Hold + Immob = Average
Control elements: 4.5 out of 5.
Damage: 2 out of 5, at that. Can't really complain when all the mobs are immobed or held or stunned or...it just takes forever and a day to finish them.
Mind:
AoE Sleep - Handy on some SFs and as a panic button
AoE Hold - Always nice to have
Confuse - Broken power, proc with Contagious Confusion for hilarity.
Mass Confuse - Absolutely over the top on Dominators, excellent on Controllers
Levitate - Meh, it's damage and some KB.
Dominate - Nice single target hold
TK - Good in PvP, very situational in PvE...handy on those Minds of Mayhem runs.
Terrify - Nice status effect, a little damage too
Mesmerize - Meh, single target sleep with piddly damage
Control elements: 3.5-4 out of 5. No Stun, no Immob but boy is Confusion an excellent tool at all levels. Just grotesque at times. TK is a bit of an anomaly in that it can be super broken in some situations and the rest of the time...sits in your tray unless you herd with it.
Damage: 2 out of 5. Terrify, Dominate, Levitate...and Mass Confuse to soften up. Not great here.
Ice:
Ice Slick: Knockdown patch is handy...as long as you don't follow up with an Immob.
Shiver: Might save you from a consecutive series of hits but oftentimes seems mysteriously inefficient.
Single target Hold and Immob: Nothing to see here, SOP for Control sets
Arctic Air: Nice toggle, another area to slot that Contagious Confuse proc...and some nice movement/recharge debuffs too.
AoE Immob and PBAoE Hold: The Player-based isn't too bad...but can still be a pain to maneuver. Since you're knocking down mobs constantly, adds some nice alternate control.
FlashFreeze: It's a sleep, huzzah.
Jack Frost: He's smarter than Animate Stone, in the way Donald Trump is smarter than a hobo.
Control: 4 out of 5. No stuns but you have immobs, holds and knockdown and a sleep. Should cover most of your bases. The -Recharge and - Speed unfortunately don't add to much early in the game as you just plow through mobs like tissue paper. Later on they CAN be useful, but you'd have to be in quite the protracted fight...
Damage: 1 out of 5. Excuse me while I laugh uproariously at this powerset.
Be patient if you build one, I got an Ice/Time to 50 and it was like watching paint dry, slowly. So slowly the paint started chipping.
Preference:
1.Mind - Confusion and more Confusion, nice other tools as well.
2.Grav - Nice hard controls, nice pet and a few damage powers, meager as they are.
3.Ice - I can't believe I actually accoladed and IOd an Ice/Rad Controller, Ice/Time Controller and Ice/Kin Controller. I need help. -
I hate Travel Suppression and Heal Decay (Incadescence notwithstsanding) with the fire of a thousand suns.
That said, excellent turnout tonight all. -

Signing up:
Tony Wilson, 53 Ill/Storm, just shoot me a global when you decide to do this. -
Any damage per activation/powers data available?
Also...take my money already, can't WAIT for this set to go live! -
Went AR/MM myself, so much AoE and Drain Psyche drooooooooooooooool......

Quote:Fourth after rare Jane forum post.Interesting thread on one of the other servers. Apparently they're requiring (I'll downgrade that to encouraging) at least 2 Leadership powers in addition to preferring Psi-dealing lore pets. Seers are too slow, I think there are others, are there not? Apparently Tyrant has no Psi resist.
Anyway, with Assault and Tactics both infinitely stacking, having a bunch of league members with those active at all times is a major bonus. Also, they can be re-launched after a death pretty quickly, although with some solid practice, dying isn't really an issue on this trial. Just gotta move when you see 'Crackle'.
Anyway, I'm going to attempt two pinnacle runs this week, Tuesday 7/3 and Thursday 7/5. I'll be respeccing Jane out of Siphon Power and Maneuvers and into Tactics and Assault and would encourage anyone who is serious about this badge to consider doing the same if it doesn't break your build.
Will be there with my Stormy. -
Quote:Some advice:Claws is like a blender made of stone. You get shredded, and hurt yourself even worse punching back.
Any thoughts on a location for tomorrow?
My interest may be waning (I keep getting challenged by blasters who like to fly, immobilize me, and then I get to watch them kill me when I can't move and they are high in the air, but I am still willing to try.
1)Get Hyper Phase from Warburg or the Ethereal Shift temp from Wentworth's. Use it when you get webbed.
2)Bring a tray full of greens, pop them every 7.5 seconds if you get tagged.
3)Use Sprint/Superspeed if you have it to run away from the Blaster.
4)Use cover and zone geometry to your advantage, if you're webbed then drop under and overpass and wait it out...or hit the highways.
5)If you're on a Brute/Tanker/Scrapper, use Taunt to reduce the Blaster's range considerably.
6)Team. :-)
Also:
Quote:I suspect next Monday will have people using the new amplifiers now.
Even if they did, Diminishing Returns would crush them.
Edit:
Claws, if you form a Duel Ladder make sure you turn off Healing Decay and Travel Suppression in Arena. You might also expect people from other servers to show up on Pinn if it's adverted, just saying. -
Quote:Well, I can market easily enough. Use the mid-level crisis to fill the coffers, craft and sell the rest. Nothing too demanding but with the speed I level it's sometimes necessary to put the brakes on to recoup the time investment.
that's a tidy sum, but unless you're talking about an absolute phalanx of characters it's very do-able without taking away much time from your other activities.
I log in at the market and log out at the market- a few minutes of fiddling at each end of my session and by the time a character "grows up" enough to worry about a l337 build, the inf is there waiting for them.
But different strokes and all that- not trying to talk you into enjoying something you don't, just pointing out that it needn't take much of a bite out of your playtime. -
So...Water Blast next Tuesday.
Looking for a semi-active VG (people on every now and then, coalition chat nice but not essential) I can park my new Corruptor while I grind out Invader, Born in Battle and the other stuff.
Will contribute to prestige and VG events but mostly just looking for teleporters and some friendly people to team with.
Thanks.

Do you have ANY idea how utterly confused my friends and I were when, in Big Fantasy MMO, the entire PvP crowd started referring to themselves as 'twinks'? We thought maybe we'd joined the wrong kind of game.
Yeah, our gear grind is NOTHING like theirs...thank goodness for that!
