  1. I think the Hollows is great, aside from being fresh from Atlas and getting a mission on the other side of the map in the middle of the foothills infested with purple CoT. But I seem to remember reading they were going to fix that.

I must be a glutton for punishment, because I really enjoy the Shard too. It's the prettiest zone in the game bar none, and I think getting around it is actually fun (you need a map of the gysers, of course).
A caveat: I would HATE taking my super speed blaster there. HATE HATE HATE it. My superleap scrapper gets around just fine though.
It would be nice if you could "lease" a jetpack that gave you hover capability from the general....

I haven't made it to the Rikti crash site yet, so no comment.

The only zone in the game I intensely dislike and avoid like the plague is Faultline.
It's great to look at but hell to adventure in, and chock full of the least appealing enemies available at that level (zombies AND clocks AND CoT? Guh!)
  2. I'd have been happy to wait another week (or two even) for I3 if all they did was fix the silent objective problem.

To me it is a very irritating, and thus serious, problem.

These games are a business and absolutely _everything_ they do is calculated to maximize profit. And that includes the shift towards forced grouping and slower leveling. Forced grouping and a slow level grind are the standard way to make us feel more attached to our characters. If we've made friends within the game that we socialize with and if we've had to dedicate large amounts of time to developing our characters we're _far_ less likely to cancel our accounts and move on to the next shiny new game.

the most dead-on thing I've read today.

    stars for you.
  4. the boss changes serve two purposes for Cryptic:

    first, forced grouping.
this seems to be a high priority for them lately. Don't ask me why, when the game was marketed and sold as solo-friendly.

    second, slower levelling.
Longer boss fights, many deaths from boss fights, having to leave missions and recruit teams to beat bosses that are not mentioned in the mission text (does anyone at Cryptic actually read mission text? the way they attribute miraculous powers to something that misleads as often as it informs makes me think not...), etc etc.

All this talk of "this is the way it was supposed to be all along" yadda yadda yadda is just window dressing for a force majeure decision to ram a difficulty increase down the throat of the playerbase regardless of their wishes.

And yes it's their game and they can do what they like with it, but I have enjoyed it up to this point and would prefer it remain fun and playable for solo-heavy casual gamers like myself.

Now my level 32 controller with those two missions deep in level 40 DE territory in Founders... well, I'm not sure what I'm going to do about them.

    =D

I had that exact problem- fortunately, my blaster had ss/cloaking device, or I'd have been yelling for help on the broadcast channel....

Don't take it, it sucks, end of post...

this much of the thread I can agree with.

I guess you can *force* it to work (as witness the copious advice of the OP), but what you can't do is make it FUN.

    tp = teh sux

I WOULD RATHER JOG than use TP. =P
  7. I love people who's main achievement in gaming is spilling coke on their keyboard and soldiering on to finish the level lecturing Statesman and the other devs on what they can/can't should/shouldn't do with their game.

the devs call it "passion" and make encouraging noises, I call it idiocy and walk away from the thread in disgust.

Totally acceptable? To whom? Not the players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

nobody I game with has a problem with it, do we not qualify as "players"? =p
Keep your blanket statements to yourself, thanks.

and you gotta love a game where a trolling falsehood is immediately answered by the lead developer....classic!
  9. If they're going to stomp on these mods, they'd better get their own solutions in the pipe ASAP.

the insanely annoying sounds and the obscuring, irritating graphics dealt with by these mods are a PROBLEM. These mods didn't crop up out of nowhere, they filled a very real need.

They have the right to do what they want with their game, but if you're going to come down on people who are filling a community need that is being ignored by the dev team, you'd best step up to the plate and offer a solution of your own.

I for one will be watching.
