    Valentines Event

    [ QUOTE ]

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we are excited to introduce the City of Heroes Wedding Pack! Available for $9.99 on the PlayNC® Store, this pack includes two new formal wedding costumes and four celebratory character emotes, offering Heroes and Villains the tools to celebrate in style!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not much of a deal compared with the GvE pack.
    I'll pass.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
Since we have the upcoming <a href="/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=10075054" target="_blank">Double XP Weekend</a> starting February 8th - February 10th coming up next week, we wanted to find out how you spend your weekend maximizing your effort?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't usually do anything special, I just enjoy the faster gameplay.

Last time around I used my play time to get some lower level guys past the level 20 hump.

This time I've moved to a new server and I'm planning on getting my level 40 fire/rad to 50.

No 'farming' planned, just spending more time than usual playing with my regular crew.
  3. [ QUOTE ]

They should not, and I doubt they will, implement PvP into PvP zones. Leave PvP in the PvP zones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Brilliant!
  4. [ QUOTE ]

And it will drive people who are disgusted with PvP in general away from the game. If people aren't PvPing in PvP zones, it's not because they don't see enough of it out on the streets. PvP in PvE zones will accomplish absolutely nothing other than irritating the hardcore non-PvPers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've been a booster for a Flag system ever since returning from WoW where I was on a PvP optional server. Barring the occasional yay-hoo in the Barrens trying to bait me into a duel it never intruded on my gamplay until I wanted it to. A similarly well implimented system in CoH would greatly increase the vitality of the game for the majority of players.

I pity anyone so emotionally fragile they get the vapors and call for a fainting couch at the very thought of someone choosing to PvP in their vicinity.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
You asked why a villain would care. We answered you.

If you don't want questions answered, don't ask them.

    Yes, that includes rhetorical questions.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It takes a certain type of literal minded drone to answer a clearly rhetorical question with a straight face and then complain about being responded to.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
    <QR>

What makes you think that, as a villain, my own safety is somehow not my concern? I see the ambassador of a faction that's actively trying to kill me, and your response is "you're a villain, what do you care?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

See my post above about RP arguments being pointless.

Your opinion is only valid for your character and carries no weight in my fantasy world, and vice versa.
  7. [ QUOTE ]

It seems irrelevant whether one is good or evil from where I'm standing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It seems very important from where I'm standing.

And this is why RP arguments about game mechanics are a pointless waste of time.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
He's still sitting there in Grandville sticking out like a sore thumb and passing out missions to villains who come asking while his kind and bombing the city.

    [/ QUOTE ]

and a villain should care about that why exactly?
  9. [ QUOTE ]

Perhaps, I don't deny it. I've yet to see such people, though, being one who likes to just trot around hazard zones, myself. I don't doubt your word, but I do believe history has shown that, even though some people enjoy hazard zones, they are wasted content, all things considered.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're not "considering" anything but your own backwards idea of how people should play the game.

This post is the verbal equivalent of someone hitting "random" in the character generator.

    [ QUOTE ]
I never said hazard zones themselves are nothing.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    yes you did.

I'm through wasting my time arguing with people who think making up nonsense and contradicting themselves from paragraph to paragraph makes them right.

Hazard zones ARE content, and good-night.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
It is content, yes. It's just not better than nothing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You are completely wrong.

There are plenty of us who enjoy spending time in hazard zones.

Saying hazard zone content is "worse than nothing" is completely ridiculous.

Happily, the only place you're the arbiter of what content is "good" and "bad" is in your own head.

  11. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Explain how a zone full of enemies to defeat that give you exp and drops isn't content.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While it IS content in purely technical terms.....

    [/ QUOTE ]

The point of contention is people saying they ARE NOT CONTENT, when they demonstrably are.

I'm not saying you have to like it or approve of it.
It is what it is, and the people saying otherwise are flat out wrong.
  12. [ QUOTE ]

No, laughable is pretending that hazard zones constitute "content".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Explain how a zone full of enemies to defeat that give you exp and drops isn't content.

    I'll wait here.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

    In your opinion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Some content, even if you personally don't like it, is quantifiably better than getting NOTHING.

There is no opinion there, it's a simple statement of fact.
    Pretending otherwise is laughable.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I have no problem supporting more zones for villain side, I just don't see the value in the new zones being hazard zones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

it's not going to happen, so there's nothing to argue about.
But villains getting access to hazard zones would be an improvement over villains not getting anything.
  15. [ QUOTE ]

Anyway this state of Hazard Zones is why I always shake my head in amazement at people COV side asking for Hazard Zones. I guess they want large empty zones that are hardly ever used.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Diversity isn't about how much things are used, it's about having options.

Heroes have the option, villains don't.

I do support revamps of the Faultline/RWZ type, but villains want more zone diversity and aren't being picky about how they get it.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

In my view, Cryptic bungled the first (and so far only) paid expansion for CoH. It shouldn't have been billed as both a standalone and an expansion, firstly, especially in light of what we ended up getting. It shipped with more content than some expansions but far less than a full game

    [/ QUOTE ]

IMHO this is the 'original sin' from which all of our current discontent flows.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
"I think RP immersion is a poor justification"

Oh really? According to positron, our crap poor patron powers are based off RP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Which proves En's point.
  18. [ QUOTE ]

I agree, I doubt anything like that would happen. I was just stating that it wouldn't bother me at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah, me neither.
I always seem to have plenty to do blue side not even counting Oroboros....the only reason I'd notice if they skipped an issue is the guaranteed firestorm of protest here on the forums. =P

The only redside content that would get me exited is a merged market. It would be great to dust off my villains and update them for the modern age.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Time to lobby for a red only issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That would be fine with me and I don't play red side. Just give my heroes a costume piece or two and a couple new badges and I'd be happy if everything else was geared towards villains.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hero vs villain population is generally accepted as being 2-1.

It's vanishingly unlikely we'll see an issue that ignores the bulk of the playerbase.

What is possible is that the influx of money and talent brought by the NC takeover will allow them to add more 'exclusive' red side content in addition to the co-op and hero stuff.
  20. [ QUOTE ]

Great idea if you want to see the villains screwed. Blue side had lots and lots and lots of people with billions of influence to burn. Villains would not have been able to compete with that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

yet somehow my dead-broke or brand new heroes managed to not only compete, but thrive.

given equal access my villains would have done the same, instead of being mothballed because the red market is a boring waste of time.

I don't understand why this is so hard for so many people to get their brains around.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Controllers? The most painful of all until much later in the game. Try soloing one from level 1 again some time.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'd take fire off that list.
I solo'ed my fire/rad most of the way to 32 and he made good time...of course a good chunk of that was spent plowing the fields of DA, not running missions.

And once he got monkies, oooooooweeee!
  22. [ QUOTE ]

..... and on and on the moebius-strip of stupidity and circular logic goes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Indeed!
  23. [ QUOTE ]

It is the difference between contented being added FOR a game, and content being added TO a game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are really heavily invested in being a poor, put upon neglected minority, aren't you?

If someone handed you the Holy Grail you'd complain it was only half full of the Milk of Human Kindness.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Then you need to wake up. The villain content is made for heroes, but villains "get to do it". Pretty much making things easy for the devs. Nice personal insults pal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Terra sounds like someone's maiden aunt teaching them proper silverware placement and you act like he's pulled a knife on you.

    lol
