Except if you cross sides with a load of delicious Pool C recipes, in which case, welcome to the dark side, brother!

real world equivalent, all those Nazi scientists who got the royal treatment once they agreed to work on our rockets.
  2. the whole "influence/infamy" thing is dumb.

it's $$$$ and it has been since I9.
  3. a notion I had that ties in with something Positron said about the level cap ("we're not raising the cap but we have something in mind")- side-switchers will probably earn 'reputation xp' by doing good or bad deeds, so you could 'level' your way from villain to hero, and vice versa.

I wonder how long it will take to 'fill up' our rep bars...
  4. Just played a new stalker up to 30, ninja blade/willpower, toggle heavy, scrapped it out quite a bit, never really noticed my end usage.

Made a mace/invulnerable brute last night, got him to 6th street-sweeping Mercy, the only pauses in his path of carnage were imposed by defeats and leveling breaks.

end at the low levels just isn't a big deal for most ATs. if you don't like the low level game being different & in some aspects more difficult than the high level game, recruit your friends to help you skip over it (which is what I do most of the time).

I think it's good for new players to experience an organic growth in power from the low levels to the mid levels to the high levels, and experience 'landmarks' in their own time. Getting stamina is one of those landmarks.

Presumably, by the time you've gotten burned out running around Atlas or Mercy you've made enough friends to opt out of the experience if you want.

I'd be ecstatic about improved zone content.

That was the one huge edge WoW had over CoH for me. Running around the "zone" was a lot more immersive because there was stuff to do and investigate.

I'd love to have something variation of that in CoH. Bank robbery in progress, riot in the Silver Lake district, CoT invasion through the entrance to Perez Park, some *reason* to pay attention to the zone, a reason for them to exist beyond putting distance between mission doors and having some stuff to farm if you're in the mood.
  6. judging by the proliferation of currencies, I think Neuro may be on to something

Or it may be something like the WoW market in Gadgetstan.

    Interesting announcement, anyway...

Actually, its the 'gems' that affect the data the most.

    [/ QUOTE ]

this was true in DA as well.

Rare salvage & good IO recipes made or broke a run- all the 'little stuff' like generic recipes and common salvage barely registered.
  8. [ QUOTE ]

    Cry more please.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Alas for your witty rejoinder pointing out facts (dev definition of 'exploit' remains vague, dev approved content is the best way to avoid 'exploits') isn't 'crying'
  9. [ QUOTE ]
It's been pretty plainly spelled out.

    no it hasn't.

There isn't a need to avoid AE altogether.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    True.
Just stick to Dev's Choice missions an you won't risk running into any invisible electric fences.

    Gravity (Again)

    [ QUOTE ]
Ive said this severfal times. Make the propel attck look like a small singularity being launched. This would easily speed up the long animation. I hate it when propel launches and hits AFTER the foe is dead...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm all for speeding it up, but DO NOT touch the animation.

Throwing cars and telephone poles at people is the best thing about the set.

    Closed Beta

I think they should call this one

    Clopen Beta

    Gravity (Again)

I like my grav/TA controller quite a bit.

I skipped the phase power because they annoy the heck out of me, but a lot of sets have dumb powers most people skip. It's be nice if it didn't stink, but it's no big deal.

I rate power sets by how fun they are to play, and I think grav is a lot of fun.

yet for a tanker; brute or scrapper it is a non issue

Like I said, I knew the story was not for everybody, and am not really surprised that some people complained. But if the Lesbian Hellions joke can go on for several months on these boards, I didn't figure that a story depicting Lesbian Hellions would be "inappropriate" in the MA.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heraclea, you're no fool. I've seen much of your work here and I played this arc. You HAD to know that there are numbskulls who play this game that subtlety is a curse word to. That arc was awesome (I 5-starred it on both my accounts) but I knew the Puritans among us would scream, moan, and gnash their teeth.

My only problem with "The New MA Order" is the lack of parameters. If they just came out and said "All arcs must be able to pass 1950s era censors", that would be one thing. But using nebulous definitions of 'farming' and 'inappropriate' isn't going to turn out well.

    [/ QUOTE ]
In the brave new world of MA we're just supposed to INTUIT what's "right" based on undefined, general terms.

But just make "good" things and you won't have to worry about invisible tripwires. See how easy it is?
  15. I'm having the password box problem today, so it ain't fixed.
  16. I'd like a water blast and water control set.

a punch set for scrappers, any style.
  17. I've been levelling a ninja blade/willpower stalker the past couple of weeks. He's 23 now and never had any problems with endurance. I slotted for end and he needed to burn blues exactly once, during a protracted fight with an EB.

Never played any of my previous stalkers past 10th level, maybe they're some sort of end-light AT. But mine was smooth sailing, endurance wise.
  18. It's pretty funny to call an adjustment to something that was OBVIOUSLY over-rewarding a 'nerf'.
  19. [ QUOTE ]

    Wrong target.
Blame the people actually responsible, please.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You mean the devs?

I don't personally think it's a blameworthy situation, but if blame you must the group that created the exploitable system is the obvious target.

A group of players will push any content you hand them to the breaking point, guaranteed. Blaming them when the content can't handle the stress makes as much sense as blaming a shark for eating a seal.

When I was a kid, uphill both ways, in the snow, etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, this is probably why I'm so dismissive of the whole thing.

I remember the "good old days", and what we have now is like an all expense paid vacation to Candyland in comparison.
  21. they both stink, but at least jump kick looks cool.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Anyone else remember when Rest had a 20 minute recharge? I think I had it like 4 slotted back on my first character when I started playing in I4.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Indeed.

It used to be something that was available every other mission.
Now....I can't remember the last time I needed to rest and it wasn't up.
  23. [ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but lots of other players do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Options are available for anyone who cares to use them.

Back in the day, when options were fewer and the gaming environment was harsher, there were valid complaints to make.

Now, with xp smoothing and IO sets and temp travel powers and all the other amenities that have graded the highway of the lower levels to a relatively flat plane, heaven forbid you have to spend a few hours of your character's life paying attention to your endurance usage!

My advice to anyone who feels persecuted by the first 20 levels of the game is suck it up.

Failing that, try slotting some end redux in key powers.
    Don't run your toggles 24/7.
Grab a couple of cheap set IOs that give +rec.
Store endurance inspirations for big fights- turn other insp drops you get into endurance.
Buy medium end inspirations on the market- I regularly pick them up for less than 100 inf (I turn them into something else, but if you need end there they are).

The burden of the first 20 stamina-free levels doesn't need further lightening, they've already jettisoned most of the weight.
  24. [ QUOTE ]

I really don't see a big issue with endurance before stamina.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ditto.

There are a tremendous # of options available to circumvent annoyance.

My current favorite is slotting cheap set IOs that give +rec bonuses.

My fire/axe tank breezed through to 20 thanks to slotting for end redux and +rec...if he can do it, anyone can.

Options are there for those who choose to seek them out.
No need to spoon-feed players everything.
