What we do is pretendy fun games.
[/ QUOTE ]
fair warning Ful, I'm stealing this one from you. -
[ QUOTE ]
Also, money's tight for me on Freedom. Do you take I.O.U.'s, Smurphy?
[/ QUOTE ]
I think it'd be funny if Smurph accepted indentured servitude in lieu of payment- labor in his farms until your drops pay off your debt.
=D -

Careful and slow does not explain having something listed for weeks and seeing it sell for less than I was asking. This happen 2 times for the same item.
[/ QUOTE ]
OMG MUST BE HAX. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just as a side note, last night I found a trade where I netted 9 million INF in one day (did it 3 times). I found this trade b/c I won the recipie from an AE roll then I looked at the price I could sell the recipe or the cost to build it and sell it. When I noticed the wide spread ... I jumped. I invested 15M per recipie and sold them for ~25M.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've found nearly all my most profitable niches by researching drops I got running content. -
[ QUOTE ]
how would a street sweeper mess up a game for someone else anyway? they just defeat enemies on the street, so?
[/ QUOTE ]
A popular theory is that any game activity other than doing story arcs and TFs draws the attention of the All Seeing Devs, who then nerf everything in sight to encourage players to only run story arcs and TFs, which messes things up for everyone else.
And no, it doesn't make any sense. -

....with a sign saying "delicious cookie, do not eat" .....

that's just brilliant.

You quote questions that you don't answer.
The thread is about the "DEVs - Are you too RP-minded?"
I've seen you reply to my posts in this manner before.
Bye.
[/ QUOTE ] Hey if you can't handle your positions challenged then you are a weak minded person.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or just really, really thin skinned. -
[ QUOTE ]
You are right in general, but this was in regards to one story about a guy and his wife. He is introducing her to the game and is her guide. He is leaving out massive portions of the game to the point that if she wanted to take that character and join another team she would be at a large disadvantage in regards to navigation.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you style yourself a guide it would be dishonest to ignore large portions of the game, I agree.
I don't agree with the "large disadvantage" part. The game just isn't that complicated. -
[ QUOTE ]
While that is true, they do make you level a bit before PVP, and you have to engage in PVE to level and get into the PVP zones so technically haven't they done just what you are suggesting?
[/ QUOTE ]
In the case of PvP, yes.
[ QUOTE ]
To be a "proper" introduction to the game a person should not show a new player only one kind of content that prevents them from learning about the rest.
[/ QUOTE ]
The fundamental dishonesty in most of the AE & PL whining is that they somehow PREVENT people from doing something else.
They don't.
The rest of the game is still there- if they WANT to learn how to navigate zones, if they WANT to explore story arcs, that functionality still exists.
If it doesn't seem appealing to them, that isn't the player's fault.
Giving players options means the decision is theirs.
If the devs prefer that players first 'play through' the game's legacy content they should 'insist' via the rules of the game.
The devs proud pre-release statement that we'd be able to level from 1-50 via AE should give pause to those insisting legacy content ought to be the primary focus of incoming players. -
[ QUOTE ]
...which leads us back to why they fight farming and PLing, because all the content they worked so hard on is getting ignored.
[/ QUOTE ]
they fight neither farming nor PL'ing, they just crack down on outliers who exceed their acceptable rate of progression.
to use their own (poorly defined) terminology, they fight "exploits".
Farmers and Pl'ers pay their sub like everyone else which means its in the devs best interests not to impose unreasonable sanctions on them. The game isn't big enough to alienate sizable demographics and emerge unscathed. -
[ QUOTE ]
That's correct. But someone who is new really should experience the different types of things the game has to offer so they could make an informed decision.
[/ QUOTE ]
If the devs want them to start with a certain segment of content they should code the game that way.
Left to their own devices players will follow their impulses, not necessarily to the same destinations preferred by others. -
[ QUOTE ]
I will also start a second team with the opposite approach.
I'm going to make a pile of level 1s and level pact them to people. Then I'm going to take my absolutely ridiculous SS/Fire Brute and my Fire/Kin Corruptor and go into all boss maps of enemies who do pure fire damage. I think I can get my level 1s to level 50 in under 10 hours despite being level pacted to logged out toons.
I'm also sure with this approach that NCSoft employees would be willing to kindly explain to me if this behavior is "not allowed." If this behavior is "not allowed" I am sure that these employees would be willing to kindly explain to me exactly which parts of my plan are "not allowed" so that I may adjust my behavior so that I may act in an "allowed" manner.
[/ QUOTE ]
Kudos, sir Bunny, I tip my hat to you.

[ QUOTE ]
The sad part is I bet she doesn't even know how to navigate the game world AT ALL. I bet if she had to get from Atlas Park to Founder's Falls it would positively blow her mind. So even though they are not PL'ing per se (her leveling has been too slow to call it PL'ing, but faster than what a regular newbie would see) she is missing out entirely on the ACTUAL GAME. He's doing her a disservice IMHO.
[/ QUOTE ]
door missions are no more the "actual game" than anything else you can do.
PvP is "the actual game".
TFs are "the actual game".
AE is "the actual game".
etc etc
the game is the game, no part of it is any more inherently valuable than the rest. -
[ QUOTE ]
Honestly I would rather be spending time having fun playing the game... or making new characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
Happily, you have that option.
For the folk who enjoy creating a top of the line build, they can.
Different strokes and all that. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes but the information was there, it is their own fault if they couldn't be bothered to read it.
[/ QUOTE ]
it doesn't matter if they read it or not.
Post all the "don't eat people" signs you want on the Savannah, lions will still do it- that's their nature.
Players will find efficient reward paths.
If developers don't want them to, it must be coded into the game.
Asking doesn't work, period. It never has, it never will.
Their release of AE was like throwing a deer into the lion cage and then having a screaming fit when it got eaten.
Gamers acting like gamers is predictable and understandable.
All the fault here lies with the devs, the alleged 'adults' who threw a huge fit when their paying customers didn't use a toy they way they wanted them to. -
[ QUOTE ]
Before AE came out there were at least two warnings not to use it as farm grounds. They were ignored.
When AE came out the patch notes and tutorial said not to farm it. This was ignored.
The Devs went "If you can't be trusted not to throw the ball in the house you don't get any balls."
People acted like kids they were disciplined like kids.
[/ QUOTE ]
gamers acted in an absolutely consistent and predictable manner, and the supposed "grown ups" pitched a great big fit about it.
expecting gamers to do anything other than seek the most efficient reward path available is idiotic. throwing a hissy about it when it happens is ridiculous.
as the alleged "grown ups" in the power structure of the game the developers need to act in a more responsible, realistic, measured manner. -
[ QUOTE ]
Whatever you think they might do, they haven't failed yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm actually hoping they don't crash and burn as badly as I expect them to.
A direct, viable competitor for the superhero niche would help keep the devs honest.
Alas, I fear the dead weight of Mister Balance Vision is enough to sink their ship. -
[ QUOTE ]
And I'll thank you not to put words to my posts that weren't there before you 'interpreted' things.

I've seen inf fall from the sky once or twice, but I was Air Sup-ing Sky Raiders at the time.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've seen zombies fall from the sky...does that count? -
the purpose was to create an image of inf raining down from the clouds, but your grammer nazi concerns are noted.

[ QUOTE ]
Selling (insert your item here) to the vendor removes that item from the game, an item that someone may have actually wanted.
[/ QUOTE ]
Someone did want it- me.
I wanted it to sell and turn a profit, other people may have wanted it for other purposes.
I won the bids, they didn't.
Oh well, that's how markets work!
[ QUOTE ]
Selling something to the vendor also creates influence in the world that wasn't there before.
[/ QUOTE ]
What do you think selling drops on the market does?
What do you think defeating an enemy does?
You should reconsider your position because it doesn't make any sense. -
[ QUOTE ]
So I've been reading on this forum for a few days now...and WOW you guys really do give away all the secrets. And amusingly there's still money to be made even for noobs to the game. It's pretty funny how much you guys give away.
[/ QUOTE ]
if inf were some sort of rare, hard to manufacture commodity people would probably be less forthcoming.
since it (literally) falls from the sky, it's fun for many of us to help our fellow players make as much as they can carry. -
if I want something with zero outstanding bids I always throw up one super low 'joke' bid just to see what happens, and every once in a while I get a spectacular deal!
-
[ QUOTE ]
If someone wants to cheat themselves out of the game experience though that is their prerogative.
[/ QUOTE ]
Players define their own enjoyable game experience, nobody else.
Not you, not the devs.
