If they launched a whole new game called CoH II, then 'the king is dead, long live the king' would fit.

But "The king got a new TF and some cool hats!" doesn't really work.

they're right here, we've got them now.
the game currently appeals to farmers, RPers, storyphiles, badge hunters, you name it.

When something breaks the boundaries of their acceptable reward payoff they change it. Other than that, they leave people be.

And that's the way it should be.
Cash is agnostic. It spends the same whether the fifteen bucks comes from farmers or RPers- and the devs know this better than anyone.

MA minus comparable rewards to 'real' content would be a an extreme niche activity, like PvP.

"creativity" means nothing to me in CoH, except as it relates to my costume designs and character bios. I'm looking for fun, engaging gameplay, not an outlet for my inner Proust.

Ok wait, not quite true- one time I accidentally listed something for 150 million instead of 1.5, and growled at it.

But when I'm selling stuff or flipping stuff, it's not enough of a bite to pay any attention to.
