As some of you know, Lord of the Rings Online has a "lifetime subscription" option that can be gotten as an invitation from a Founding Playing. This gives you the ability to pay $200 for membership and then never pay another monthly subscription.
Why oh why can't COH offer this ?
[/ QUOTE ]
because it isn't a relatively new game struggling to survive.
lifetime subs represent a cash flow problem, not developer benevolence to their subject players. -
This is an interesting discussion and may represent the one case I've ever run across where I agree with RP logic dictating a game system.
Logically, Keep's position makes more sense, but I agree with Uber's 'genre convention' explanation of why lower power characters gain more reward from tougher foes. -
without the innovations of I9 the game would have lost me.

I love threads like this.
It makes it really easy to ignore players that I never want to hear from again.
[/ QUOTE ]
I love it because it draws all the holier-than-thou Purity Police out of their monestary cells to lecture everyone else about the "right" way to play.
There's nothing more hilarious than a snob on a soapbox. -

Now which char should I log to farm the locust badge I wonder..
[/ QUOTE ]
You must have missed the whole MA badge kerfufffle....my guess is the Locust badge would be awarded globally to all your characters just for logging in during the month of MA's destruction.
I mean, working toward a goal is just so much like that nasty, evil farming, don't you know.
We just can't have that any more, the Purity Police and Kontent Kops would get the vapors. -

letting the professionals clean up their own messes.

I find your faith refreshing.
[/ QUOTE ]
At this point I have very little faith, but it's still their job and responsibility and I'm not going to worry about how well or badly they handle it.
I'm outside playing the rest of the game.
MA being swallowed by a volcano or destroyed by locusts would make zero difference to me. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's the only way to get rid of them. I urge all legitmate players of the game to report AE farms when they see them. Something must be done and it's up to us as players to help the devs get rid of this blight on our game.
[/ QUOTE ]
hey look, a junior Kontent Kop!
You know what works better than ratting out fellow gamers who enjoy a different playstyle?
Playing your own game and letting the professionals clean up their own messes. -

In regards to "worshiping" Smurphy he is a loved and valued friend if you define that as worship (i personally don't) then I can't imagine what a gift basket sent to the makers of a game is defined as.......
[/ QUOTE ]
I've had my disagreements and battles with Smurph, but in this instance he's doing something immensely valuable for the game's population, shining a spotlight on a dev-created minefield where they refuse to provide useful, well defined guidelines while threatening players with bans and other punitive measures.
As with their original reluctance to give players meaningful information about powers- if they don't tell us the numbers, we have to find them out ourselves.
For that he deserves a hearty round of applause. -

Having had Mod8 visit this thread twice, it would appear he disagrees with your conclusions.

Unfortunately for the rest of us. -

Occam's Razor is on the side of customization.
[/ QUOTE ]
How is power customization on the side of Occam's Razor?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because Power Customization is pretty emo, and just *loves* listening to cure.
[/ QUOTE ]
I won't even try to top that.
*bows* -

Being in the recent past I had a post modded for calling an obvious troll a troll, I'll not be doing that here.

I won't either.

Once I notied this odd behavior, I tried applying it to other melee cones, like golden dragonfly, which is all but impossible to use to hit more than two enemies at once. Or is it?

Nice!
Reminds me of the good ol' days stacking robots on the PI docks.
Of course, that was before the current dev pogrom against "exploiters", so tread lightly lest they decide to flex their swollen, manly muscles and make an example of you. -
such an awesome idea.
making it unlockable when you hit 1b might finally inspire me to do it instead of getting antsy and blowing my inf on TEH SHINY. -
This argument played out over another thread, as you well know.
I'm referencing comments and ideas from said thread and not limiting myself to one specific post in this particular thread.
You are of course free to pretend the past never happened and has no influence on how people perceive you & your arguments. It isn't the best course of action, as other people do tend to remember and value it and it will keep coming up at the most inopportune times.
But to each their own! =) -

You know? I think Mod 8 is the living embodiment of the quote; "Speak softly, and carry a big stick."
[/ QUOTE ]
a big stick would be nuking this garbage dump of a thread from orbit, not changing a deliberately misleading title. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, you can compare Vines and Ulterior to, y'know, the content of the Valkyrie and Magic packs for starters, and see which one[s] have vastly superior content.
Because me, I view Magic as "good stuff" and tights patterns as "nice, okay stuff... but not stuff that knocks my socks off." Never said that we're never, ever getting any more costume pieces for free.
What i did say was that we'd most likely be paying for all the "knock your socks off" stuff; I see nothing here which makes me want to amend that. Nor do costume change EMOTES stand in for free costume content to me. If your mileage varies, have at it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nice to see your shifting definition of "the good stuff" continues to evolve, now numbering all new animations among the things that don't count.
*thumbs up*
One would think free stuff being added as a direct result of booster packs, stuff that wouldn't exist without the income generated by the packs, would loosen the rusty hinges on the decrepit gate of your argument, but I've clearly underestimated your powers of adaptation. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think the ball color change was to show alignment change.
[/ QUOTE ]
An added bonus.
Nothing in a game trailer is there by accident.
Given the long community history of power customization that little tidbit had to be foreshadowing. -

Keep your hopes down Boys and Girls...
If they do make Power Customization a reality, you'll be happier.
If they dont make Power Customization a reality, you wont be as disappointed...
[/ QUOTE ]
Ignoring it at this point makes no sense to me.
They've all but come out and told us it's going to happen, including the none too subtle hint in the GR trailer of that gal's fireball changing from red to blue.
Occam's Razor is on the side of customization. -
[ QUOTE ]
I can think of only one type of customization that would truly require an entire expansion and gobs of developer man hours to produce... especially if conversations at Comic Con last year still hold any water...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep.
Given the weight of circumstantial evidence we have this far out I'll be shocked if power customization isn't a feature of GR. -
[ QUOTE ]
Now that the technology is in place, Issue 15 is our first opportunity to provide a number of more universally themed costume change emotes as part of a regular content update for all of our players. It's our goal that everyone, even those who didn't purchase the Magic Super Booster Pack, will benefit from the extra time and resources that we've devoted to creating these booster packs.
[/ QUOTE ]
And..............the final stake through the heart of B_I's paranoid fantasies about booster packs stealing all the good stuff from everybody else.
