I don't know about that. You *could* buy from WW and then go to the Cimeroran and turn a nice profit. It would all depend on price disparities on either side and it would require a little more travel time between markets, but I think profits would still abound. Anywhere there's a market, money can be made by those with a little effort and know-how.

In WoW I "flipped" vendor junk for big profits on the AH. Buy stuff for a couple of silver, jog to the AH and sell it for a couple gold.


A marketplace will always be rife with opportunity for crafty players. The only way to "protect the little guy" and cheese off those mean, nasty eeebil manipulators is to shut them down entirely and only have stores.

Respecs and character slots are both something that have more utility and appeal to veteran players, who we can assume have more characters than a newbie and lavish more attention and energy on them.

But all three are suitable veteran rewards since they don't affect game balance in any way, and they make nice 'perks' for players that stick around.

99% of the playerbase doesn't give a care one way or another about authoring MA missions.

Story slots are an appropriately minor giveaway for veteran rewards.

I agree with this. For me, the graphics at CoH's release were satisfactory, and the upgrades we had when CoV came out were in no way worth the performance hit (especially the fire graphics). I'd bought a $3000 SLI system 10 months before CoV came out, and the CoV upgrades erased my performance gains.

Sure, better graphics are good, but the performance tradeoff needs to be worth it. I've got a high end system (Quad Core, Nvidia 8800 GT, 4 gigs of ram), and CoH still slows down under some conditions. I really don't want a repeat of the CoV upgrades.

I've never understood the game company obsession with 'cutting edge' graphics- I think it has more to do with corporate *****-measuring contests to attract the interest of the gaming rags than anything else.

The example I like is the little mod that could, Counterstrike.
It was the #1 online FPS for many years in spite of its Half-Life derived graphics.
Or because of them?
At some point in my CS career I looked around and pretty much anybody with a computer that had a pulse could play CS butter smooth.

Cutting edge hardware and graphics get all the press, but most people have crummy-to-mediocre computers, and they all play games too. Keeping them in the loop may not be fun and sexy and get you fawning press from the industry gossip rags, but it will make you $$$$$.

This thread is making me glad I ignore all this stuff until it actually goes to live.

200 million is enough for a real nice build, but it's true that's not much when you start pricing the higher demand purple sets.

Of course....expensive purples are an opportunity as well as an obstacle, you just need to flip your perspective around. =)
