What's really interesting is that AE is having a SERIOUS effect on the market. With the shortage of lowbie salvage, and the fact that even high level stuff needs lowbie salvage, the market is getting all kinds of screwed up (mostly because people haven't figured out they can just play Ouroboros missions). I'm sure that this will impact the lowbies' ability to make money, at least until the market re-stabilizes or the devs do something to make salvage drop in AE missions (ha!).
[/ QUOTE ]
uh wha?
how does expensive low level salvage "screw up" the ability of low level characters to make inf?
I'm confused. -
[ QUOTE ]
Players who didn't have money "back in the day" were just newbs that didn't sell drops to the correct stores.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it was everybody without a level 50 sugar daddy to kit them out.
[ QUOTE ]
Your FIRST toon was a little poor pre-30's but after that I recall VERY vividly making enough to easily re-slot SO's constantly.
[/ QUOTE ]
This was not my experience, or the experience of any of my friends. -
[ QUOTE ]
Can Posi just NOT do the interview next time and save us all the time to read:
"I can't talk about that yet"
"we'll make an announcement about that soon"\
"no we're not working on that at the moment as theres more interesting things i can't talk about right now that we are working on. but i can't talk about them."
[/ QUOTE ]
Now, how many forum threads would THAT generate?
=P -
[ QUOTE ]
They did eventually get rid of the Bank Temp powers effects, though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did they?
Oh happy day!
I missed that (welcome) change.
I may run a mayhem when I get home just to wallow in the freedom.
Well, that's a ray of hope for some control over magnitude! -
[ QUOTE ]
Regardless. Yeah. G_F has gotten himself a hole so deep that the PvPEC are currently PMing each other about what to do about the problem.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't recruit idiots?
Or is that too pro-active. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm honestly hoping that this stays. The prospect of being able to dim some power effects down, especially for more naturally inclined characters, has me most excited about the upcoming customization.
Hasten, I'm looking in your direction.
[/ QUOTE ]
The devs historical insistence on even the most minor powers having visible effects (bank temp movement increase I'm looking at you!) makes me skeptical we'll have much if any control over the magnitude of the effect.
Other than what we can knock off by switching from an ostentatious color to a more subtle one, anyway. -
this thread is a prime example of why its better to say "whoops I made a mistake" when you screw up than to keep furiously digging the hole you find yourself in.
-
the only color I'll be messing with is the awful red side Invulnerability, which I used to think was a sign of my old video card starting to fail.
Imagine my unhappy surprise when invulnerable still looked putrescent after I replaced the card. -
[ QUOTE ]
I fail to see this as some horrific problem demanding immediate game-master action.
[/ QUOTE ]
alas, many other players find it necessary to scream their heads off and dial 911 every time they see a stray cat in their yard. -
[ QUOTE ]
You know, after all this.. i want all costumes to be open to all genders.. male/female/nethergoat.
Why can't my Namesake have a pencil skirt and the cool Magic booster clothing.... i demand change, i demand that we drop the whole dichotomy and do what i say.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree!
I mean, the Crossdressing Zombie gets its point across with a bright pink kilt & tank top & chain necklace & gold bracelets, but the fashion options are definitely limited. -

hopefully part of Going Rogue. =P -
[ QUOTE ]
They are introducing cross dressing.
[/ QUOTE ]
no they aren't.
they're introducing sex changes.
And my character The Crossdressing Zombie couldn't be happier! -
probably the 'coolest' name is Doctor Love, my emp/elec defender.
one of the first handful of characters I made.
although my current favorite is The Angry Smelly Bum, my mace/wp brute. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just thought I'd comment on a couple things...
Just playing the game to fifty does NOT guarentee you millions of inf.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes it does.
[ QUOTE ]
I have 2 50s (blueside) and neither has more than 50M inf. I have one lower level (40 if memory serves, also blueside) who has over 70M.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh wait, did you mean to say HUNDREDS of millions of inf?
Because yeah, that takes either a little effort or a little luck.
[ QUOTE ]
Outside of marketeering luck has a HUGE impact on how much inf you have when you make it to fifty and beyond.
[/ QUOTE ]
It can have a huge impact for the good.
But not even 'bad' luck will prevent you from making a fat stack if you put forth even the slightest effort.
[ QUOTE ]
Using the 'last 5' to price items on the market WILL hose a 'casual player'. I've items that I priced about 10% below the lowest of the last 5 showing at the time I listed them. Months ago. Still on the market. And the current last 5 shows prices about 10% of what I listed them for.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just think, if you'd listed it for 1 you'd have sold it, freed up that slot and likely turned a tidy profit in the bargain.
[ QUOTE ]
The market is not always the casual player's friend.
[/ QUOTE ]
the market is the best friend the 'casual' player has.
greedy players who want a premium can end up with some leftover junk (of course, they'll also sell a lot of stuff).
But even for those folk, it's a huge upgrade over the old days. -
I applaud all solutions that aren't about imposing someone's personal idea of fun on everybody else.

I wish they'd hire somebody who knows which end of an interface is up one of these days.
The fact that we're here cheering the return of LINE BREAKS should make the devs avert their gazes in embarrassment.
[/ QUOTE ]
Need a nap?
I, for one, am very happy with the improvements we've seen over the years... and look forward to seeing things such as "line breaks" fixed soon.
How about a new game instead?
Here, let me get the door for you...
[/ QUOTE ]
How about I'm comfy where I am but I'd like interfaces that don't suck and text editing options that are available on typewriters.
What is it about this game that makes so many players so overwhelmingly eager to chase others away?
"want line breaks? go play WoW, loser!" is a new low. -
Excellent setting, nice use of emotes and text, big, fat pile of inf- I rate this one 9 out of a possible 10, docking one point for lack of top hat and/or monocle. ;^)

messing with the proportions makes them even uglier and more illegible.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I'm assuming you're playing in Windowed Mode and taking a normal Windows SS and pasting into GIMP. If you do that, there's no reason why the proportions should be out of whack.
[/ QUOTE ]
no windowed mode. -
[ QUOTE ]
As long as a single person hated Jack for "not giving them what they wanted" then you're correct, it IS an accurate statement.
[/ QUOTE ]
He didn't use the word "hate", that's your addition to the thread.
He said "angry".
An accurate statement..
[ QUOTE ]
As a general statement about the playerbase, it's less than accurate, but I'll accede that you are technically correct.
[/ QUOTE ]
he didn't say "all", he didn't say "hate", he didn't aggrandize the situation at all.
The vision made players angry- nothing but truth.
The problem is with your Pavlovian overreaction to a negative comment about Statesman, not the comment itself.
[ QUOTE ]
Regardless, a statement doesn't lose its hate simply by its accuracy or inaccuracy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nonsense.
If I say "Stalin was a murderer who killed millions of Russians", there is no hate involved, it's a simple statement of fact.
If I say "Stalin is one of history's greatest monsters", that would be evidence of hate. I would personally consider it true, but it definitely has a sizable negative emotional component.
You're doing that thing people on forums like to do when they get in a hole- keep on digging.
You'd come off much better admitting you overstated matters and walking away.
[ QUOTE ]
If you are somehow are evincing a philosophy stating that only inaccurate statements can be considered hateful...
[/ QUOTE ]
I haven't said anything of the sort. -
[ QUOTE ]
Is this another hate thread on emmert in disguise?
[/ QUOTE ]
admit it- he's a much more interesting topic than what the OP gave us. =P -
[ QUOTE ]
The accuracy of said opinion is open to debate.
[/ QUOTE ]
No it isn't.
His "vision" made a lot of people really angry.
If it didn't make you angry, gratz. The statement remains true.
Accuracy is not hate. -
messing with the proportions makes them even uglier and more illegible.

[ QUOTE ]
anyone remeber jack emmert and how people disliked him because he made the game into his vision rather then giving players what they wanted?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, you managed to turn it into a Jack Emmert Hate Thread in only five posts. Well done!
[/ QUOTE ]
Accuracy is not hate. -
I have screenie problems too since upgrading to a widescreen monitor- mine come out all squished.
haven't figured out a fix yet. -

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]
For the most part, I think Jack's problem wasn't in the "vision" but in the delivery of information about the "vision". Jack isn't really much of a people person.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, the vision really sucked.
