...give me one GOOD reason why their not at work...

It made you throw a hilarious tantrum?

    Works for me!

    Drop Rates again

    [ QUOTE ]
I doubt marketeers want drop rates up. Hurts their business.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    change = opportunity.

tickets & weighting essentially supercharged the drop rates of 'the good stuff'. Which made a lot of us a whole bunch of inf.

I don't think they were a good idea or that they were well implemented, but I made a giant pile of inf off their effect on the market anyway.

the current setup works fine, there's no reason to change it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Under that logic, though, Goat, there is no reason or need to ever change or add anything to the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

if something isn't working, it should be changed.
if you want to keep current players involved and attract new ones, you need to add stuff to the game.

things that work fine, like drop rates, simply don't need adjusting.

    Drop Rates again

1: Currently, drop rates for soloing are fine. The suggestion I'm making specifically is for teams. You CAN change one without changing the other, by adding in a multiplier for teams, which is what the thread was about if you had bothered to read it.

It's not about entitlement. I'm just saying this is an MMO, and MMOs are usually designed to encourage player interaction. Most of the game is set up to encourage teaming, so why is this the exception?

    [/ QUOTE ]
CoH has always been a notably solo-friendly game in a genre not noted for that trait.

Only the devs know why drop rates are set up the way they are, but the game's sizable population of soloists could have something to do with it.

    Drop Rates again

    [ QUOTE ]

A padded map is effectively equivalent to killing larger mobs in a hazard zone. More enemies, no teammates.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Yes.

The rate is the same. The farmer just eliminates all his competition.

    Drop Rates again

    [ QUOTE ]

So back before IO's - did you tell people they were only entitled to TO's?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    A telling statement.

The only thing players are entitled to is access to the game world. What they choose to accomplish there is entirely up to them.
  8. Yah, the core market regs have 'outed' so many ways to print your own inf over they last couple years there's no reason any of them should still work...but they do.

You can lead a horse to water, etc etc.

    Does AE need XP?

    [ QUOTE ]

What purpose does XP have in AE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As a draw for the 98% of players who would otherwise ignore it completely.
  10. my guess is the store is the hangup rather than the pack itself.

no doubt they'd prefer to avoid a repeat of the Magic Pack fiasco.
  11. [ QUOTE ]

Perhaps (re drasticaly inflated opinion). Or you vastly under rate how many lurkers use marketing posts for information, or how that information is dasiy chained along.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I spent a lot of time and energy in here blowing the horn for Dark Astoria, back in the early days of the market when "everything" was too expensive and "only 50's" could afford anything.

Farming DA and selling drops could make anyone rich.
The thread went on and on, and eventually I convinced all but the most cement-headed reprobates that it worked.

    The result?

DA was still empty every time I went there.

I did turn on quite a few people to the joys of blowing up zombies, but the number wasn't even a drop in the ocean of the larger game world.

I'll agree that with things that are super simple with zero entry requirements there can be a snowball effect. Meow farms, fer instance.

But for anything with higher requirements, the #'s won't be meaningful.

  13. [ QUOTE ]

What do you consider pretty low bids ?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I can usually get whatever I want by dividing what its "worth" by three and bidding that, then waiting a while.

Except anything badgers create in bulk, those you can pick up for spare change.
  14. If you upgraded your video card recently, turning up your settings makes all kinds of 'new' stuff show up.
  15. Death, taxes and P_P agitating for the next issue 5 minutes after the release of the last one......things you can always rely on!
  16. [ QUOTE ]

    How about this.... [clears throat]

Remember, if you support farmers, the terrorists win!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's more like it!
  17. Little 'bonuses' like this are great surprises in a new issue.
  18. [ QUOTE ]

I don't like being on farm teams. I don't like being lied to by people filling farm teams. (It's happened.) I don't like playing with PL'd incompetents (or any incompetents, really.) So I guess I'm an anti-farmer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You fail the anti-farmer litmus test by not moralizing and pontificating about the evils of farming and demanding that farmers be banned every chance you get.

    [ QUOTE ]

Costume parts are non-game-affecting. They're just cutness that you can opt to buy. If they aren't worth it to you to buy, you don't have to buy them. I like to buy them, because I'm a sucker for cuteness. Plus, I like to support the game.

[/ QUOTE ]Non game affecting for whom? If I don't like how a my character looks, or I can't get them to look the way I want them to, I don't play. Costumes are VERY game affecting for a lot of people.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ten bucks must seem like a steal since they're that important to you.
  20. It makes business sense for the new ATs to require a GR serial to use, at least at first. The goal is to sell a lot of copies of the 'new thing' and that would definitely drive sales.

Down the road, I'd expect them to either make them available in the store in a pack like GvE, or just release them free in a patch.

When CoV came out you had to buy it to get the costume bits and the base stuff. Later they made them available to everybody.

It seems likely GR will follow a similar gameplan
  21. if freespecs stacked people like me would have eleventybillion of them.

also the intent of them is to allow players to adapt to power changes in the latest issue, not to stockpile for a rainy day.
  22. [ QUOTE ]

But a few posts in even a backwater forum will get thousands more doing the same, which then will show up in the devs datamining.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You have a drastically inflated opinion of the power of the Market Forum.

    [ QUOTE ]
There every reason to thnk there is a casue and effect going on.

    [/ QUOTE ]
except that there isn't, because Castle sez it's a bug.
  23. [ QUOTE ]

Just playing to fifty does not guarantee you enough inf to IO your toon with sets

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Yes it does.

Or wait, you don't mean 'sets', do you.
    You mean THE GOOD STUFF.
That was designed to be expensive so you would have to make an effort to get it.

Why do you think you're entitled to the good stuff without putting any energy into earning it?
