the ugly smilies are easily remedied- just use a different smily pack. someone made those for a forum with a white/gray background. although they kinda make me feel at home- the smilies on the old forums were so awful I never used them.
some graphic sigs are neat, the ones that aren't are consigned to the tender mercies of Adblock. Assuming Vbulletin is like UBB, admins should have options for limiting font choice & text size, which I hope they'll use soon. Jdouble is amusingly moronic at default settings, but I'm going to have to ignore him if the 30pt bolded type continues. -

depends on the map.
if you're running radio missions it would be very handy.
I know my stalker would LOVE to be able to hit a button and know where the 'boss room' was.
One one of those big story arc maps with multiple objectives, yeah, that could be a mistake. =P -

Lots of hypotheticals, yes. But it's better than turning the AE into a double-speed PLing machine for three days, churning out new players who leave after a few weeks because they think that's all there is to the game.
Instead they reward and encourage its use by extending it 2xp rights.
It's almost like the omg all the MA babiez will leave in a week bcuz they don't play rite folk don't know what they're talking about. -
r/e most of your post:
Cry more, your tears they are delicious.
to this point specifically:
There is no expectation of freedom of speech on a private forum- you're allowed to say what the mods and admins are comfortable with, nothing more. -
wow, that font/formatting combo is every bit as misguided & pathetic as your logic in this thread.

aesthetics are personal, but in every other way this software beats the living tattoo off the old forums.

I'm interested to see what depths mine will plumb.

new forums, new avatar!
let's see how many people won't recognize me. =P -
Quote:likes: modern functions, loads great, looks much nicer. How's this for the first post back...LAME! And why is there a thread looking for a gay SG at the top of this forum? That's neither here nor there!
PS - Good lookin forums!
dislikes: hiding all the forums under kinda arbitrary main index subjects is lame. Merging market & inventions is lame- while there is some overlap, I have absolutely zero interest in the nuts and bolts of the invention system and have no doubt that many invention devotees are equally disinterested in the mechanisms of the market.
Why not merge bases and RP while you're at it? -
Disinterested in badges & betas, but good for them trying to buff their numbers in the face of direct competition.
I'll stick around because I (mostly) like the direction the game is going, not because of the perks. Also I'm wildly unimpressed with the CO team and the direction they've chosen. -
I just thought of one huge down-side to the new forums- it will parole all the clowns and time-wasters from my ignore list.
=( -
poked my head into the market today, almost no Nevermelting Ices, over 1k bids and a 'last 5' of 250k.
Needless to say, I rolled a few hundred tickets and did my part to curb inflation! -
man, some people just don't want a goat to have ANY fun!

r/e starting inf:
try asking at a busy market.
I've given inf to plenty of low level characters who needed it to list an expensive drop they got, or whatever. I gave one guy 100k to buy rocket boots to finish off his costume (it was a good costume).
Most people have more inf than they can spend these days and a lot of them don't mind throwing a bone to someone just starting out. -

The result is that that set of constraints mean that practically everyone loses compared to the original position.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is why I view merits as little more than a supply nerf. -

And on the costume side... well, I agree that costumes parts are fairly minor. That's why I didn't mention them in this context.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm still bitter about it.
