Quote:oh wow this airman america guy is doing things with engine blocks and computers and manly chores like mowing the lawn
he was also in the military held so many clearances
in fact, he had all the clearances and other military people would have to ask him to use them
sometimes he'd make them beg
a real man's man, this one

I wish I'd written this post.

I'll start collecting screens tonight, provided my dum DSL is back up.
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. -

Quote:I want the game to be successful enough that it keeps going about like it always has, so I can keep playing.I can debate the meaning of a bunch of farcical charts and numbers at work. I dont care if the numbers are up or down. Do any of us, really?
Other than that, no I don't care what the numbers are.
I had an argument a while back with some dude who's point was that other MMOs had more players, and that this one was losing players, so I should be really upset (or something). He wasn't able to fathom my response of "so what? as long as the doors stay open, I'm happy where I am". -

one point-
as players observing the game from inside, we have NO IDEA what subscription numbers are like.
I could log on tonight, not see anyone in Atlas on Freedom and it wouldn't tell me anything about what the sub numbers for the game were doing.
I paid a year in advance the last time I re-upped.
There have been weeks at a stretch when I haven't been able to log in.
Did that affect their sub numbers?
If I wanted to check out CO (which I don't) and bailed for a while to play their beta, would that affect CoH sub numbers?
We can't tell anything about subscriptions by looking around this or that server. Only the suits know what kind of numbers they're pulling. -
There are more parallels between my approach to the game and the Ocho's approach to the game than I am entirely comfortable with.

the Goat (fire/dark corrupter) will be swapping his default fire blasts for blackish-purple flame from the underworld.
And my spines scrapper will be doing something new with his bananas, but I'll have to try out some different things and see how they look. -

Quote:I understand that you consider everyone who doesn't play exactly like you to be miserable, grind-obsessed exploiters who should be driven from the game, but the devs realize that maintaining a solid financial footing requires appealing to more than just one narrow demographic.Purples were pretty much made just for the elite tweak obsessives who missed having the 1337est gear in other games. They're very rare and very optional so the players who use them can have their ego boost without making the regulars feel left behind.
Purples were made to give performance-oriented gamers something to pursue, since their sub fee spends just the same as yours. -
Right now he uses snipe + slug as his leadoff attack on small spawns (big spawns get flamethrower + full auto from behind a bed of caltrops).
I'm underwhelmed by snipe, but follow it up with slug & you can take down most stuff & if they survive one or the other will usually knock them on their can for the follow up.
If I end up keeping snipe I might throw some range into Slug. -
While I'm sure prostituting your catgirl under the globe in Atlas is extremely profitable, I'm focusing this guide on the market.

Gratz!
Now you can IO her out for the sheer gratuitous overpoweredness.

Quote:If he's cool with a GM fudging rolls to make the game more entertaining I'm not sure why it isn't cool when other people do it.
But it's different when the "GM" is a bunch of rules programmed into a computer by an engineer working at a multinational. In that universe, if the rules are bent for the sake of fun, it's cheating. -

It's annoying enough that I created a special Prestige Mule for my personal SGs who is permanently logged off at that one building in PO and City Hall.
It's faster to log out and log him in than to run whoever I'm playing at the time over to pay the rent.
It's be great if they let you auto-pay, or pay in advance. They could tack on some kind of convenience fee to placate whatever weird sense of game balance informs their insistence that we show up in person once a month. -
That would be a great day job reward for logging out at Portal Corps.

Quote:There's a vet reward that lets you skip the prerec for your travel powers.I'd be in favor of a travel power being available much earlier than 14 - and I'm not sure it'd upset the balance of the power pools that much either.Maybe open up the travel pools at the avatar creation process instead of 6, so you'd pick your primary power set, your secondary power set, and your travel pool, so you could take like Hover right from level 1, and then at 5 or 6, you'd get your second pick from your travel pool, which would match up nicely with you being sent out into the wider city after you'd done the starting zone.
They don't seem amenable to handing them out to the general public though. -
Quote:I'm one of them.Simple fact is there is a large chunk of players who want to be able to solo.
I solo probably 95% of the time.
I find the game very accommodating to soloing.
Lack of opportunities to solo is not one of this game's flaws.
Quote:Maybe even open the travel powers up at level 6- that's the one thing that hooks in new players as it makes the game 1000% more fun and playable. -
Quote:not seeing it.The inside of the Combine logo is also supposed to be white... for some reason the GIF has a translucent background instead... which makes it more similar.
one looks a bit like the Steam logo, a piston inside a bolt.
the other one is fire inside of a guy with a pointy chin & big nose wearing a dunce cap. -

Quote:they both "stole" from someone else who did it before them.So what is it, did NCSoft "steal" from Valve, did Valve "steal" from NCSoft, or did they both just HAPPEN to come up with the same concept at the same time with VERY similar logos for their respective groups?
and the logos aren't very similar at all.
