    Dare I say it...

    PLAY THE GAME!?

Rather than farm farm, farm, farm farm farm farm
    News flash:

    Farming is playing the game.

    That's its whole point.
A dev team who wanted players to be able to choose their reward would not be amenable to such a system.

Your "ideas" are so laughable I'm surprised you haven't melted away from the sheer embarrassment of mumbling them in public.

Upping drop rates to the point where our buddy the "casual gamer" can get what they want without recourse to the market defeats the point of the system.

If they wanted you to be able to get all the stuff you want with a very limited investment of energy, they'd have made a store not a loot system.

Preserve the market, preserve the current way of having the market be the only realistic way to purple out a character, the only realistic way to earn enough INF to buy the IO sets you WANT. That's what I was talking about, same as always: the market is the best way to do things, and the market forum regulars want to keep it that way. no alternative options should be opened, and some posters go so far as to recommend repealing merits and tickets, because they bypass the market.
I'm not a fan of redundant systems and wouldn't miss tickets or merits.
The market does what it does exceptionally well, there's no need for other avenues of acquisition. The devs like them as additional timesinks and sops to the crybabies, but they certainly aren't necessary.

    They are.
Anyone with half a brain and an ounce of perseverance can get as many purples as they can slot, and then some.

I would love to see the drop rate increased for characters level 50, you get to choose the purple you want, and it's NOT TRANSFERABLE TO ANOTHER CHARACTER so there's no need or way to farm them for money.
Then go make your own game, cause that's never happening here.

It isn't a question of ability- ANYONE can 'get' purples. Anything you can buy with inf is available to everyone in the game. Earning inf is child's play, anyone can do it.

It's a question of motivation- not everyone is WILLING to get purples, because it takes effort and concentration.

It's also a fairly insular place: preserving the status quo means preserving the profit margins on the high-end stuff, which means that people who enjoy the market are (surprise) the ones most likely to be able to afford to purple out their characters.
Anyone who comes here with an open mind gets all the information they need to earn billions. We actively recruit for Team Eeebil 24/7, the more market billionaires we help create the happier we are.

That's the opposite of 'preserving the status quo'.

There are some people who refuse to help themselves, which is nobodies 'fault' but their own.

I remember about 7 months ago, the world of AE was slowly building up. Not many peeps were AE-ing(of course, i had a different account and played on a different server). Then 3 months ago, I went into the Cap AE building and it was ALWAYS packed. It lagged ewverytime I went in there, unless of course it was Sunday or Monday. Now, when I go in there, there's hardly anybody in there, and this saddens me...deeply.

Why? Why is the world of AE slowly dying?
Never have I seen such banal twaddle rendered with such hideously criminal typography.

I'm ignoring you so that I never risk seeing an abomination like this again.

At least, this seems to be the argument you are making.

    Whatev.
I'm referring to a long thread where you disregarded every costume piece added to the game since the advent of the Wedding Pack in a failed attempt to claim we'd never get anything "good" again without paying for it.

A character's powers are every bit as visible a manifestation of their identity as their costumes- sometimes more so. The ability to customize them is a HUGE addition to character creation, on par with the release of CoV.
  8. Dear cabbage brain brain who -repped me with the comment "still need content" will have one more chance to actually read the post:

(Adding flexibility to mission difficulty) x (every mission in the game) = a metric ton of new game experiences

New stuff to do = content.

So the largest addition of character customization since the game launched doesn't meet BI's requirements.

    Surprise, surprise!
  11. I admit I hopped around logging in alts to see how many everybody got. =P

The high water mark was 9 although I still haven't checked on my emp/elec defender, who's one of the first characters I ever made.

What, they weren't allowed to team in MA?

I wonder what all that broadcast chatter was about, then.

This makes for more grouping opportunities and socializing.
Having a lot of players concentrated in a small area like Atlas creates many more grouping and socializing possibilities than having those same players spread out across a bunch of different zones.

Hopefully the quantity of QUALITY AE missions arcs improves.
    Why would it?
The rather draconian changes to custom enemies seems more likely to discourage the participation of story-driven authors than otherwise.

You didn't like MA farms- great. Don't pretend that getting rid of them will usher in some incredible golden age of teaming and authoring. All it did was shuffle players around the game world, it did nothing to change their basic predispositions.

There's a segment of this community that puts "content" in a straight jacket and says if it isn't a developer created story arc then it's worthless.

Which is ridiculous. Content = new stuff to do.

The mission difficulty changes alone re-make the entire game, if you choose to explore them. The same with powerset proliferation. These kinds of structural changes give us new ways to explore the existing game structure. And that's content.

So is power customization. I spend a lot of time at the tailor fiddling with my characters, and I'm not alone. These changes give us the ability to integrate our powers with our costumes and open up new vistas of character creation. I've already dumped a bunch of time into exploring new looks for existing characters, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

New canon-advancing story stuff is coming in GR. In the meantime, I'm very happy with all the new toys the tech crew has given us to play around with. They do change the gameplay experience, they do provide new ways to experience the world, and they are content.
  14. we got a 'we didn't change anything' line from some dev, but in light of the deafening silence in the face of well documented evidence that something is wrong I'm starting to wonder if that was some Statesman weasel-speak.

Like, "well, we didn't change anything- your invisible teammates are stealing all the drops, just like on a REGULAR 8 player team!"
  15. I'll do some Dropstat runs- last night I was too excited to get in, fiddle with power customization and check out some 8-spawn maps to do anything but log in directly.

But I didn't mind, melting all those zombies was just good clean fun.
  17. recipe drops are borked, badly.

ran my zombie map spawned for 8 twice, got one IO recipe and three generics.

Quite a bit less than I'd have expected from one unpadded run on Tenacious before I16.

But blowing through aaaaaaall those zombies sure was fun!
  18. quick thoughts-

new Spines are AWESOME. and dunno if it's a bug or not, but you can get DOUBLE SPINES by selecting a different type for Quills. Gave my guy green crystaline spines for Quills and white Thorns for the rest of his attacks. Very nice!

New mission difficulty is likewise AWESOME. Set my spines/regen for even con 5 man spawns and MOWED. Felt fantastic, like running DA every time you step in the mission door.

And that was fighting Rikti....I can't wait to fire up my zombie map!

Checked in with the Goat and messed around with his powers- turned his fire black and purple, added a purple tint to his /dark powers, and laughed with glee.

    So far so good!

I'll mostly be using this Scrapper for farming for drops - think a difficulty of -1x8 with bosses off, or bosses on if I'm feeling adventurous. Here's the problem: I'm having a heck of a time trying to fit in the CJ/SS combination, adding Tough to the build, and being able to take an APP AoE, whether that is Tenebrous Tentacles or Fireball. I'd also like to take Burn but can't seem to fit it in - if I take TT I'd like Burn a bit more because I could keep mobs immob'd in it, but would I need Burn if I took Fireball?

Any help would be appreciated, I may post a build I've been working on when I get back from school.
    Just take Fireball.
If you're fighting a million wimps you'll waste a lot of time lining up tentacles and getting in position to burn.
    With spines, what's the point?
Fireball > Throw Spines > Spine Burst, then clean up the stragglers and move on.
  23. I find it easier to make a giant pile of inf than worry about what my IO's are going to cost.

It isn't hard, hit the link in my sig if you want more info.
  24. If you don't want to risk "junk" recipes they've already given you the option to buy exactly what you want.

And they've already emphasized "the good stuff" by weighting 'random' rolls in favor of the most popular types of sets.

I don't think the process could stand much more hand-holding and player coddling.
