Indeed a Block War will be fantastic....the only thing that could top that for a sequel is Judge Death and the Dark Judges.

I do understand your apprehension, the Stallone Dredd which is best filed under W.W.N.S.O.T is a bitter memory for some Dredd fans.

Still this movie is looking very promising.

I say this hypothetically. If I went to a movie called Judge Dredd and the lead actor at one point took of his helmet so we could see his full face I would just puke in my popcorn because that's not Dredd. He is mysterious and enigmatic. We're doing it right, it's gonna be harder, grittier and above all faithful to the comic. It's gonna kick ***." - Karl Urban
All well in good but I think the trailer shows Dredd suiting up, of course his face is concealed or turned away from the camera as it should be.

Any time his helmet has been removed in the comic his face has remained concealed somehow. He recently took a knife wound to the throat and when we see him in the hospital his face is cloaked in shadow. In an early Prog issue he took off his helmet and the characters reacted as if he was badly scarred but a faux censor label was concealing his face. After he and Anderson returned from Judge Death's world, Dredd was in sickbay due to his eyes being torn out, he's surrounded by medics so that we can't see him and one says "So that's what he looks like!" They then proceed to install his bionic eyes.

What's funny is that after a couple of weeks he was recovered and used to them and told Anderson that his blinking was reduced, he had infra red and night vision and his shooting accuracy was increased. He then said that his only regret was that he didn't have this done sooner. Anderson proceeded to /em facepalm......

Also there was a time long ago when they showed in flashback what was to be the face of Judge Fargo minus his helmet. This was just as they established that Dredd's face must never be shown and BEFORE it was established that he was a clone based on Fargo's DNA.....so that image of Fargo without the helmet has since been retconned away and explained as an erroneous flashback.

Dredd is supposed to have a voice like that. They could easily say in the movie that he suffered throat damage that changed his voice but I doubt they will do that.

Also in this movie he shouldn't yet have his bionic eye implants as those became necessary after he and Anderson were in Judge Death's world and his eyes were gouged out. For the most part Dredd in this movie should be a well trained Judge that was genetically engineered.

Just keep the helmet on! If his helmet is removed, keep his face concealed like they do in the comic.

More likely the illogical and screwy nature of the ratings system in general

I remember once they gave an erroneous error to an episode of the Highlander series. It was rated TV G which should mean minimal to no violence. I figured it would be a light hearted episode before the next major plot arc. But at the end Duncan fights evil immortal of the week and gets stabbed in the stomach by the villain. Before the villain can pull his blade out of Duncan, Duncan slides forward on the blade thus impaling himself so that he can get his blade to the guy's throat and slice his head off. The villain was surprised by such a crazy move by Duncan and beheaded. When the episode was aired again it was more properly rated.

Interested to see what rating it ends up with here in Canada. If there's boobs it might stick with R (Oh my!), but if it's just violence it might go with PG 13.
I suspect PG 13 for theaters and an unedited director cut version on DVD.

As I recall, aren't the helmets equipped with comm systems as well as infra red vision and other nifty features? If so that could explain why they are a bit bigger then normally seen in the comics as they added some realism to them to compensate for all the gear they contain.

Granted the Stallone version had the costume all shiny and correct but perhaps some minor changes won't be so bad.

Quite true, but I don't think the lawgiver guns have infinite ammo so I hope he has plenty of spare ammo clips. Also having Anderson with him will help since her telepathic powers may well be the edge needed against the Slo-Mo drug.

So do you think they will sully this movie with a cameo of Stallone or Rob?

From what I gather, the tower is the criminal base and it is a death trap that makes other Judges wary.....but not Dredd

If this does well then I truly hope the sequel has Judge DEATH arriving and the third movie is all of the Dark Judges. Dredd has many enemies but I think the Dark Judges are the most notorious.

This is Bender we're talking about. He would be in his most favorite company...himself. Doubt he would shut himself off. His head was also able to last for 1000 years in the New Mexico desert.

But wouldn't that Bender have ended up in the cavern and been crushed? Time travel makes my head hurt. Blanking on the specifics of that.
Sure his head lasted 1000 years in the desert, but was he powered up the whole time? I would imagine periodic shutdowns would occur.

As to being in the company of himself, throughout the movie he'd timejump back to a specific point, steal the item and then wait in the caverns until his past self made the time jump then he'd come up with the treasure. He'd then repeat the process and would come up when he was logically supposed to. He then gets the code erased after time jumping to kill Fry. At the end he reads the code to go back and put the code onto frozen Fry. He then returns and states he told all the other Benders to come up instead of when they were logically supposed to thus causing the rip in reality. That Bender is the one that has been around since so he should have the time code in his memory. The other Benders were exploded by the paradox corrections. Had all those Benders stayed down there or been destroyed by Bender he could then have confiscated the loot and not caused the rip in reality.

Since the scammers had all the loot and artifacts from history, perhaps when Bender went back to stick the code on Fry he decided to make some more trips to get all the treasure again, thus negating the scammers from having had them and thus causing a large time paradox that was triggered when all the Bender's came up from the cavern.

Anyway, yes time travel does cause a headache. Still Bender should have the time code in his memory banks. Either he's forgotten he has it, has decided to not use it or is using it in secret to be discovered in a later episode.

To help lessen the chance of a paradox of many Benders, they could have simply plotted out the earliest time period that Bender had to go back to. He then time jumps and takes the first item and stores it in the limestone caverns then waits until the proper time to get the next and the next and the next all leading up to his return in the present. One Bender, many items.

Also if there were many Benders down there waiting for the right time to emerge, I would think they would shut down to avoid things like cabin fever, or the temptation to kill the other Benders for the loot, etc.

Ok, I'm having a memory error here: what episode was he waiting for the crew to turn into oil? I havent seen all of Season 6 or this new ep yet

As to hiding in the limestone caverns beneath Planet Express, I would imagine that he would simply shut down with a subroutine in place to reactivate him at a specific time. He kept coming back up from the caverns the instant after he left so I suspect he was turning himself off and waiting.

Also, I don't think any episodes after the movies have dealt with this yet but Bender should still have the time code in his memory. Yes the scammers erased the code from him when they were done with it, but at the end Bender had to reread the code to go back and stick the code on frozen Fry. So unless he had another erasure he still has the time code.

Quite true, but it still asks the question: if robots are powered by alcohol why would Bender have a nuclear pile?

Not to mention all the times Bender has been damaged or smashed to pieces and there is no nuclear explosion

He even acknowledges that it's a flawed system and that there are people out there in charge who are "bad guys" but he knows if he starts to remove those people based on his own judgement, then he risks becoming as bad as the Elite.
This. Remember in JL/JLU when on an alternate Earth President Luthor pushed things to the brink of armageddon and had his thumb on the button?

Superman "There are at least 6 different ways I can stop you"

Luthor: "and they all involve deadly force and you don't do that" Luthor then proceeded to call Superman his accomplice and that he wouldn't be a hero without a villain and that it was Superman's own ego that kept things going due to him loving allthe adulation from the public etc. Luthor then dared him to arrest him and put him on trial because he could beat the trial and start it all over again. Superman then used his heat vision to incinerate Luthor and the JL of that Earth then seize power around the world. They became Elites. They began to decide who would die, who wouldn't and have storm troopers ready to take dissidents into custody and that reforming super villains meant lobotomies for each of them. Luthor did have at least one valid point: he would beat the rap and start it all over again since Superman wouldn't kill.

Much like how Batman will not do what many would want him to do and put the Joker down for good. How many have died at the hands of the Joker and Batman won't kill Joker or allow him to be killed? How many cops would love to claim Joker was resisting arrest and shoot him down? Do you think many cops would complain or that Internal Affairs would push the matter? But they don't due to morality and the law thus Joker gets out and starts it all over again and will continue to do so until he is put down for good.

All that palladium it burns through is probably a major reason why. Tony's new element makes it more economic, if he is prepared to share.
Sure the military is making Iron Man inspired armor, at least for mobility and carrying heavy loads, but actual armor with integrated weapons systems I suspect is not coming soon. Also there is the power requirements.

In the movies the Arc Reactor supplies power to all armor functions as well as keeping Tony's heart beating, at least that is how it was in IM 1, I would think after Stane yanking it out of him inspired Tony to have an arc reactor in each suit in his lab as well as the one in him as we saw in IM2. Both reactors likely link up and work in tandem since we saw in Avengers that Tony pretty much used up 99.9% of his power and plunged back to Earth to be saved and then revived by the Hulk. It took Tony some time to get mobile after that likely due to the reactor needing build up more power.

The new element makes the arc reactor more efficient and brings it up to the full potential as envisioned by Howard Stark. Paladium was the best substitute Howard could use due to the tech of his time. As to Tony sharing the new element......well hopefully with a few dozen security precautions in place. He saw in IM1 that his weapons were being misused and IM 2 showed what could happen if the Iron Man tech got out of control. Avengers shows he is testing the arc reactor with the new element on a larger scale by powering Stark Tower, but will Tony be paranoid and not release the clean energy to the world due to fear of it being twisted into a new weapon? Stane did say to Tony as he was pulling the reactor from him "imagine the next generation of weapons powered by these..." or something similar. Tony may not be very willing to share mini-arc reactor tech with anyone after that. Arc Reactor power plants however....

I'm a little annoyed by the yearly vet badges because I have enough of the time paid badges (and it really was time paid, not buying points) that I qualify for more years of vet than I have, but because I had to stop paying at one point (financial duress), I'm stuck at the yearly vet badges I have, which is three.
