Quote:Why not?You mean like a CGI-rendered Alec Guinness doing acrobatic ninja flips?
Granted Ep 4 was back in 1977 and Lucas had no way of knowing what Star Wars would become, but the saber fight in Ep 4 is supposed to be basically a "grudge match" or "rematch" between Obi and Vader, and let's face it the fight between them is a bit......pale by comparison to the saber fights in Ep 5 and 6, and comparing the saber fights in the classics to the prequels is an Apples vs Oranges comparison.
Yes, I've read all of Lucas' comments that Vader's injuries have diminished his Force power by apparently 20% or so but he is still the Chosen One and his power rivals the Emperor. But his injuries and heavy armor diminish his ability to leap around like he used to as Anakin. Obi is course old or at least middle aged and allegedly his time on Tatooine has diminished his power as well (lack of use).
They could have it where Vader finds Obi Wan as he is leaving the tractor beam room and the fight starts. Obi manages to get away and is sneaking through the corridors when Vader intercepts him near the hangar again and then the fight reverts to the classic fight from Ep 4.
Also please revert the Han/Greedo scene to how it was. That is the one change to the classics that I truly disagree with. -
Would also be nice if bases could now have teleporter access to red and blue zones now that side switching is here. Thus a group with vigilante and rogues could setup TP units for them.

Quote:I enjoyed Jedi Adcademy, though granted some of Luke's first recruits did seem to resemble the X-men in terms of some of their powers:meh, it wasn't as good as some of the other novels, but Darksaber was far from being all that bad. (and there was nothing wrong with the Jedi Academy books dagnabbit!)
Streen: telepath that has trouble shutting off that power, can also manipulate the winds. Hm, Prof X and Storm combined.....
Gantoris: the first casualty among the students, leader of his people, immensely proud, strong and an angry man.....Magneto by chance?
Corran Horn: though not in the Academy trilogy books he was there at the time per the I, Jedi novel. His family has the specialized talent of absorbing external energy and using it to power other Force talents, mainly telekenesis. Also ability to project mental illusions of extreme detail to the point where when he first discovered this he even caught Luke by surprise. Hm, Bishop and the mutant Mastermind.
Of course later in the I, Jedi novel as Corran sets up shop on the pirate planet, he comments how pirates can be superstitious and easily frightened, has Elegos as his butler, is setup to be the pirate queens new toy and spends his time as a drunk playboy while at night he stalks the city using his powers to strike fear into the hearts of the evil and cowardly pirates. Nah......doesn't sound familiar at all......
I am VENGEANCE, I AM THE NIGHT.......I AM.....JEDI!..... -
Quote:Eh, I was overall okay with Jedi Academy, but the Suncrusher itself was just dumb. In a period when there were way too many ridiculous superweapons being churned out in the EU, it held the King of Ridiculous crown.
The Suncrusher was an interesting concept, but it wasn't as silly as Admiral Daala suddenly deciding to attack the Republic with her four ships and then suddenly she loses one to the Suncrusher, and then slowly loses the other two. Great command tactics.....
Now the Darksaber book was fine, but the Darksaber weapon itself was ridiculous, come on essentially it was a giant lightsaber flying through space! I was having Star Trek: Doomsday Machine flashbacks!
Children of the Jedi had perhaps the most interesting super weapon; the Eye of Palpatine.
Oh, and Crystal Star was more horrid then all the prequels combined. -
Quote:Scratches head......I never did quite get the hate for Ep 3. While the acting may not have been that great, the Star Wars series as a whole is a giant B movie series loaded with FX, and none of the classics took home any awards for best acting.and there are the ones who went to episode 1 thinking "well yeah it was total crap, but it was still Star Wars!" the next one will be better...
...2 movies later...
sunnuva *****.
it's not as if people went in to the first of the prequels (eh, most people anyway) thinking "oh yeah, this is gonna be a ****fest." then when george admitted things weren't really as good as he wanted them, he kept telling fans that he'd do better, and didn't. To be honest, i found the third one to be a pretty decent movie. But that's not going to stop me from looking at it critically and realizing there were an incredible amount of flaws with it. What IS wrong, isn't that I'm going to shell out money for these prequels... again... (because, hey if you havent figured it out, im not) ...other people ARE and the gobs of money Lucas is going to make off that is just going to convince him that he did no wrong.
so again, i say, "releasing the movie in 3-D? meh, to hell with the prequels, but at least i can go see the original trilogy on the big screen again. let's just hope he doesn't screw with them even more to fit his skewed, frelled up vision."
Good things about Ep 3:
1. Minimal presence of Jar Jar and he was silent the whole time.
2. We get to see the Wookie homeplanet, a cameo of Chewbacca, and an army of Wookies which most certainly is an apology for how we couldn't get a Wookie army in ROTJ due to budget and FX constraints back in the day.
3. Mace Windu in action against Sidious
4. Yoda vs. Sidious. Nice seeing two Force Masters slug it out.
5. The legendary Anakin/Vader vs. Obi Wan battle
6. James Earl Jones returns to provide the voice of Vader. -
Quote:I remember when Justice League was in production that Timm wanted to do a GL animated series but that he wanted to do the GLC not just Earth based GL. Here's hoping this is indeed the GLC and that it is a sequel of sorts to Justice League.
Granted JL/JLU didn't have Hal as GL except for that brief time warp but they can still bring Hal into that continuity. -
Aside from testing new 3D tech, this can also be Lucas' chance to shall we say....streamline all 6 in terms of plot and dialogue for a more cohesive fit between the originals and the prequels.
Also this could be an opportunity to improve the saber battles of the originals to match the prequels in terms of Jedi acrobatics and super speed saber fights. Ep 4 and 6 could use this, the fight in Ep 5 doesn't really need it. -
Quote:Dusts off an old post........How much recharge does it take to make a double-perma-dom? I drafted up a few builds (with different sets combos), at max I can only get +125% without haseten. So, still short of 200% with hasten on.
Is it possible to make a double-perma-dom without outside buff, like SB?
Thanks
Presenting once again (whether some like it or not), the Three Stages of Permadom, Dragonball Z style.
Dominator stops fighting his foe,
Foe asks "Why are you stopping? You giving up?"
Dominator: "Oh we'll get back to the fight, I just want to teach you a few things about permadoms, starting with the basics. This is my normal form....."
Dominator powers up: "This is a permadom. 70% recharge from IO sets and 3 to 6 slotted hasten depending on your preference. Likely a clunky build and you risk frequent power crashes, but congratulations you are a permadom!"
Dominator powers up again: "This is what is known as a Permadom that has Ascended past being a permadom, or just call it Permadom 2. 90% recharge from IO and 6 slotted hasten was the minimum for this. Tighter build and fewer crashes."
Foe: "Yawn, big deal......"
Dominator: "Just wait, it gets even better!"
Cut to Recluse and his henchmen:
Ghost Widow: "Has he really found a way to surpass an Ascended Permadom? Is that possible?"
Black Scorpion: "Bah!"
Mako: "Feh! He's just bluffing!"
Scirocco: "Yeah, he'd be what, double ascended? Big deal!"
Dominator's power begins to exponentially build..."AND THIS.....!"
Lord Recluse: "What the.....? WHAT'S HE DOING?"
Dominator: "IS...TO....GO..EVEN....FURTHER.....BEYOND!"
Insert 10 minutes of massive yelling and screaming as the Dom powers up and everyone is too dumbstruck to stop the process.......
Dominator: "Sorry that took so much longer then the others.....it takes a little time to power up to this level. In this form....125% recharge from IO's and you can throw hasten out the window. This is what I call a Super Permadom THREE!"
Is it possible to go beyond this? Only if the devs develop an ingame form of the Fusion technique or else wait for the Incarnate system and hope. -
Quote:Yeah I suppose that could work, I mean if its ok for Mephisto to erase the Spider-Man marriage then this is ok tooWell, just speculating here, but in the "Smoke and Blood" (or whatever the title was) one-shot, the science team found a way to nullify vampire mind-control. It involved something with nanites and Madison Jeffries that I never really got, but whatever.
So, I'm thinkin' they inject him with the nanites; Wolverine goes in knowing he may get infected, but with the nanites he can retain his free will. And thanks to Jeffries being able to communicate with the nanites, the X-Men will know exactly where the vampires' HQ is.
Still it's pretty clear he's vamp, he's got the fangs and previews show him drinking blood plus the blood stained cover with his feral fang face on it.....
And here I though the era of 90's shock tales was behind us....
Ah well at least Rob Leifeld isn't doing the art. -
Quote:Well we do see what appears to be a blood sample being taken from Wolverine before he heads out, or maybe it was an injection to simulate the vampire virus......nah.Actually, I'm predicting that as "all part of the plan". I think Cyclops is pulling a Trojan Horse type deal.
It's time for more shock novelty and have Vampireine running around sinking claw and fang into as many x-men as he can, then after they are all cured at the end of the story he has to deal with shame and guilt, blah blah blah blah blah.
Although I remember the What IF tale where Dracula turned Storm and the X-men into Vamps but Wolverine easily resisted Drac's control and usurped him as Lord of the Vamps.....wonder if Vampireine will make such a power play? Nah, that would be too intelligent a story.... -
Quote:I think he knew from the start yes, I doubt he expected it to be so swift or that usage of the armor would accelerate it. But he does state in IM2 that he has tried every element and combination of elements to power his mini reactor enough to remove the palladium so he had to know pretty fast that it was going to turn toxic.actually, after watching the first Iron Man on Netflix a couple days ago, i think he was drinking the green gunk because of the Palladium then too. So i guess he realized right from the start the stuff would be poisonous.
was wondering why the "you complete me" bit wasn't in the final cut of the film. did make for a very cool trailer cut though.
So yeah I believe the stuff he was drinking after his test flight was the antidote. -
Quote:This happens with me at times. Sometimes I think that you need to click the plaque and leave it open for about 30 to 60 seconds then close it for it to register, do it too fast and it seems to not.Yeah, I did that, and I used the Vidiomaps too. I just have no idea how one didn't register
First thing I did in each zone was badge it.
Sometime's I've had to go back to KR to wrap a plaque despite knowing I hit them all in KR, sometimes Perez, once even Atlas. Also the alts I've spun thru Praetoria have had this happen. -
I'd say he was covering his illness. Also that stuff he was drinking in IM2 to help counter the palladium poisoning, lets go back and look at the stuff he was drinking as he was resting and icing himself after his test flight of the mark 2 armor. Same stuff?

Different market demographics. This could easily have been the opening for the film in the UK vs. what was in the states.
Either that it was filmed, reviewed and scrapped. Though it's kind of funny to see Tony being airsick considering he can fly at ultrasonic speeds in his armor. -

Quote:Now that is funny.I thought Skrull Kill Krew had one of the funniest Wolverine gags. Everytime they showed up to off some skrulls one of the Skrulls would turn into Wolverine and start helping them because everyone just accepts it as fact that Wolverine is everywhere.
Wouldn't surprise me if they pull some retcon junk that Wolverine has been working with Nick Fury all these years and that he appears everywhere due to mass production of LMD's.... -
Quote:Wouldn't tweak me at all as I barely read any Marvel books these days.I think it would be hilarious if they one month they put Wolverine in every single book they published, just to tweak people who don't like him.
But the point still stands that Wolverine is over used and poorly used. -
Quote:Now there is a legendary clash of characters that has also been redone to death. Hulk vs. Wolverine.I seem to recall there was a point where it was rumored that if you had a new series at Marvel, it wouldn't succeed unless you had either the Hulk or Wolverine make a guest-appearance by the second issue.

All because that is where Wolverine first appeared. Then eventually the inevitable rematch. Then comes Grey Hulk vs Wolverine which was cool. Then we get all these other inane rematches that basically like how Shakespeare put it "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." -
Quote:No, but Wolverine is a sterling example of a character that has been over used and POORLY used for the past several years. Some of the recent storylines in his own book have been poor to say the least especially recent "revelation" that he and sabretooth are mutant/descendants of some lycan race of beings......or the story line about "where does wolverine's soul go when he is "killed/burnt down to the bone and regenerating", or how allegedly some mystical force hyper-charged his healing powers to Highlander Beyond levels so that he could be shot into the sun and survive and be burnt down to the bone by Nitro and still regenerate and now that he's rid of it the next time he meets such catastrophic damage he isn't coming back......ugh.Question:
Do you all really read so many comics to the point that you're annoyed about seeing the same character in so many different comics?
Plus his own series, plus the assorted X-men titles, plus I think two avengers titles, and now he's Vampireine, super mutant vampire of the Marvel Universe......
Yeah Marvel, a touch of over-saturation and overkill. -

Quote:IF he takes on multiple foes he may need help! Quick someone dust off and upgrade the robot imitation of Ultraman known as Jet Jaguar and get him to assist!Brian Rogers talks about Godzilla, his interview is very interesting. It will be nice to see a reboot of Godzilla and done RIGHT!

Love to see Wolverine just disappear one day and we get a year or two of a What Happened to Wolverine story line as people search for him endlessly.
So sick of that overhyped and overused character.
Now look out! The X-men in ish 4 must face the fury of.....Vampireine!
