This. I agree that Stoltz has comedic ability but this is simply a case of the movie character not being a good fit for the chosen actor, so he was replaced.

Kind of like for 2012 there is a theatrical Three Stooges movie planned.....good luck casting those iconic roles. It's easy to find someone to imitate one of the stooges, the trick is find three that work well together as the Stooges did.

The reunion should be fun to watch though as I thought he and Christopher Lloyd were one of those rare teams that occur in movies that just work well together. Like Mel and Danny for the Lethal Weapons and Ford and Connery for the third Indy Jones.

  5. As far as right and wrong and there being no consequences; let's say you gained superpowers akin to the Hulk (Banner Hulk not that cheap Red imitiation), or THOR or Superman, and then after gaining the powers you hear the latest news of terrorist attacks and finally have decided that enough is enough and that since you have the power you decide to use it.

The mission: go to the Mid East and proceed to crush the terrorists. Take out their bases, camps, hiding areas, insurgent areas, etc.

Would their be repercussions? Sure. Some countries leaders and populations would likely welcome such an intervention but others may see it as an act of war, especially if I decided to wrap myself in the American Flag before going over there. That would surely draw some negative reaction to the U.S. no matter how many times the govt. denied creating such a person or sending such a person there. Also would the local indigenous population of the countries that I hit welcome the removal of the terrorists? Some might, some might not.

Would the world be better off if such a super powered person crushed the terrorists? One would like to think so.

Now let's take this one step further: said super being heads to the mid east and during the act of demolishing the terrorists they happen to locate a certain terrorist leader that is wanted for assorted crimes. What would happen if:

    A. the super being decides to eliminate the leader?

    B. the super being decides to bring the leader into custody for war crimes trials?

with me it would depend on what the powers were. how 'powerful' the powers are, the nature of them, so on and so forth. are we talking superman? or spidey? Iron Man, or Cyclops? it'd be cool to run around with Wolvie's healing factor, but that wouldn't particularly be a big help to me or anyone else really in regards to crime fighting or world conquering. but if i had Forge's tech powers, or Reed Richards' smarts... daaaaaaaaamn.
A Wolverine/Highlander level healing factor would be useful in crime fighting if you plan to model yourself after the Punisher. Get some kevlar and armored helmet that conceals your face as I suspect head shots you receive would still hurt like blazes, get some guns and knives and go start busting the bad guys.

Trash a few crack houses, burn the drugs, confiscate the money keeping 50% for your operating expenses and the rest goes to a worthy charity.
  7. Here's a question: in Iron Man 2, Tony is being ordered to turn over the armor to the military for the "good of the people". Nice party line from the Senator, but the point is this:

Is Tony Stark being evil for withholding the armor from the govt. and military? Since he was captured and his heart damaged thus requiring constant life support he has changed his outlook on the world and the future. He wants to make a better world, and he sees the armor as a tool to that end but also believes based on past misuse of his weapons that the govt and military will misuse the armor. He also is being accused in the movie of being "selfish" for no longer making weapons for the military.

Are the reasons for keeping the iron man armor out of the military correct? Imo, yes. An army of Iron Men would easily become corrupted and could conceivably take over

Is Tony wrong to stop making weapons for the military, knowing that he was the best munitions maker the military had seen in years, thus risking American military lives due to them having sub par weapons from Justin Hammer or other companies?

Is he the one with the right to make that choice instead of say, putting it to a public vote? He built the suit so yes.

The main thing with Caleb is that even as your team works to spawn him, someone should be checking the skies already in case he was previously spawned and never found. That has happened on some of my Caleb hunts before.

There'd been a management shift and the new folks in charge didn't like Trek, so im not surprised Nemesis ended up being the last one. It wasn't the weakest of the 4 TNG movies (Insurrection. it's not bad, but that doesn't mean it was all that good), but it just felt too much like Trek2, especially towards the end. The fight scenes between the ships at the end did look damn cool, but it was still weak.

Im not a big fan of the Abrahms' reboot, and im hoping the 2nd one is much better. The bright side is that the reboot is still better than the first and fifth Trek flicks, mostly.
Star Trek the Motion Picture = FX extravaganza that reunites the crew with a upgraded ship and somewhere they threw in a revised Nomad probe story.

Star Trek 2 = best loose end from the original series that they could have used to create a movie. Doomsday Machine would have been cool too.

Star Trek 3 = nice movie but suffers the onus of being the one right after Khan. Any Trek movie would have such negativity.

Star Trek 4 = nice break from the death and life of Trek 2 and 3, plus Kirk needed something to clear his name of the charges. Although charging him with destruction of the Enterprise to me was an error since it was disabled and being boarded by hostile forces. Kirk was still well within the regulations to order the destruct sequence.

Star Trek 5 = nice try. Studio rushing movie to completion combined with Shatner..... still better then the hippies episode

Star Trek 6 = nice send off.

Star Trek Generations: decent start for the new crew into the movies. Lousy way to kill Kirk.

Star Trek First Contact: easily the best of the TNG movies with Khan as the best of the classic crew movies.

Star Trek Insurrection: if only I could stay awake through that movie....

Star Trek Nemesis: ugh. Felt about as bad as Trek 5.

No, definitely not Lal. It had to be his mother, created by Soong.

When Data shed tears of joy when he found that his cat miraculously survived the crash of the saucer section. He thought the chip was malfunctioning and Troi assured him it was working fine.

To be honest, sticking that chip in Data was perhaps the single best evolutionary thing they did for him.

  15. Carnage would have to be toned down to keep the movie at PG13 ratings. Remember how he was toned down in the 90's cartoon?
  16. It's possible that Ultra Mode enabled SLI but I am not sure.

Steve Rogers IS Captain America and now I have to wait on Bucky to die to see it again. I was hoping that Bruce would resume being Batman and Dick would go back to being Nightwing. Being Nightwing is cool. Why would he want to stay Batman when he could be Nightwing? Oh well. I got sick of Morrison and stopped reading Batman after the RIP storyline so it doesn't really matter to me. Bruce Wayne IS Batman though.
As the Captain America movie gets closer to release, I'm certain Steve will be Cap again. However his return to the role does not mean that Bucky has to "die" again. Too much work was put into his return to just bump him off again. He'd be more apt to adopt a new identity similar to the Winter Soldier, perhaps even call himself Nomad.
  19. Omg.......

Ok....granted the Transformers are "alive" as it were, but just HOW does a Zombie virus affect them? I can't even see it bringing back the deactivated/dead TF's........

Zombies in Star Trek.....meh Kirk will use his oratory prowess to give a rousing speech and his patented double axe-handed attack.

GI Joe.....meh, Cobra has raised the dead. Incinerate the zombies!

Ghostbusters: ok this group I can see dealing with zombies more then Star Trek, GI Joe and TF.....

Man this whole concept just reeks of STUPID.

    THIS. Oh, so THIS! '

Those two clowns ran the franchise into the ground! I think to this day they said that perhaps their biggest error was in how they killed Kirk, or that they killed him at all.

Easily fixed though via the Guardian of the Forever (Sock observes the fight on Veridian 3 and determines the logical moment to intervene to stop Soran and save his friend), but too much time has passed now. Shatner's a bit too old and large to stuff himself back into uniform plus the franchise has been restarted.

So at the time i honestly felt it was done to dumb down the character a bit and take him more back to where he was at the begining of the show.
Heh. TNG suffered at times from either Wesley saving the day or Data saving the day.

As to Data dumping his memories, etc. into B4, I was thinking it was more a recreation of that moment in Wrath of Khan when Spock nerve pinches McCoy and then does the mind-meld...."remember".......

It was just a plot device to restore Data at least partially if not completely in a later series or movie, presuming the franchise would have continued and they could afford Spiner's salary.

Of course now that we are in Star Trek Universe "B" for lack of a better name after the Trek XI reboot, it's all moot. Strictly speaking the only series timeline that now exists is Enterprise and the future will be different.

Wasn't there an episode, I think the one where they were working with some lady who was Dr Soong's wife or something and it turned out she was an Android similar to Data. When Data discussed the situation with the Dr. Soong message chip on the holodeck, wasn't it stated that there were other prototypes of Data?

There's Lore, Data, the woman android (name escapes me at present) and now B4.....so isn't there yet one more out there to be discovered?

After this, maybe add PPP's, but until then it's not where I want the focus.
Or at least give Khelds a few extra enhancement slots for their powers.

I've heard about this one several times over the years.

While Lynda Carter is a decent enough actress and probably could have handled being in a Star Trek series I almost think the Wonder Woman thing typecasted her too much for any other established franchise like that. If she had been the captain on Voyager I would have kept expecting her to solve all their problems by spinning into her Wonder Woman outfit and deflecting phaser blasts with her bracelets.
And this would be a bad thing because..........?

    This is Krypton!

Forgot to mention: but that scene in the diner at the end of Superman 2 when Clark deals with the trucker for beating him up in front of Lois truly proves that bystanders in comic books and comic book movies are unobservent chuckleheads.

    1. Trucker tries to gut punch Clark with all his strength
    2. We hear a mettalic CLANK as his fist impacts
    3. Trucker staggers back holding his hand in agony as we hear the sounds of cracking bones
    4. He then does several RPM's as Clark sends the stool spinning
    5. Hefted onto the counter and with one casual shove is sent flying into the pinball machine.....

And NONE of these people with the possible exception of the waitress who has a big smile on her face can do the math and figure out that the local bully just got a beat down from Superman???????
