Quote:Yes, the Thanos Imperative has been a fun read so far. I have a hunch as to how its going to end but we shall see.Not the vampire garbage; you're thinking of Necrosha, where Selene used the techno virus to resurrect a bunch of dead X-Men characters and attack their former friends. The vampires showed up later.
Personally, I'm loving Marvel's "reverse Blackest Night" in the cosmic realm. The universe is currently being invaded by a parallel one where Death was killed and nothing else can die. -
Quote:Yes, it is interesting to see what the heirs to the lucas empire will do. Perhaps remake all six from the ground up? Though please reuse all audio of James Earl Jones as the voice of Vader. That is irreplaceable.Obviously Lucas has made an unparalleled impact on the history of movies and his legacy for the entire movie industry will be felt for decades to come. Will I likely go spend good money on the 3D re-releases of movies I've already seen dozens of times already? Very probably...
But even after all that it doesn't really stop me from thinking about what the future of Star Wars will be after Lucas no longer has direct control over it. I hope it will have a good future DESPITE anything Lucas has or will do for it.

Hence why I said "Vast majority", there will be exceptions of course. Mileage varies.

For all the griping that we do about Lucas and how we think he has wrecked Star Wars, many of us are also protesting too much. The instant a new Star Wars film is scheduled for the theatres, is the instant the vast majority of the fans will rush to get tickets despite any misgivings they may have or ill feelings about things they didn't like about the prequels.
There are somethings I don't like about the prequels, yes. There are a few minor complaints I have about Indy 4, yes. (the fridge nuke is NOT one of them given all the other near death escapes he shouldn't have made).
But I don't have the level of rancor that so many other fans have expressed on the internet. I expected fun movies that I felt were worthy of the franchise, NOT mega blockbusters like when the franchises first started.
Also, hate Lucas all you want but he founded/co founded: Lucasfilm Ltd, Industrial Light and Magic, Skywalker Sound, Pixar, and THX.
Where would Hollywood be without ILM, Skywalker Sound, Pixar and THX? -
Quote:Oh I just used B&B as an example of who should NOT be running the show. For all that Lucas has done to Star Wars, B&B did worse damage to Star Trek, imo.Oh I have no doubt Lucas already has an elaborate plan for how he wants his "vision" of Star Wars to live on after he dies. And no I was not specifically assuming any particular people (like Berman and Braga) get their hands on it.

My point was is that no matter who's "left in charge" so to speak things WILL be different once Lucas is not directly calling the shots. It may turn out to be a good thing or a bad thing. But what is clear is that things that Lucas is currently "stubborn" about now could eventually change and evolve as time goes on. -
Quote:Keep Berman and Braga away from Star Wars.I'd never really openly wish Lucas any harm and I'm sure he's got a good number of years ahead of him. But to be honest I find myself increasingly fascinated to see what's going to happen to the whole Star Wars franchise after Lucas passes away.
Case in point Gene Roddenberry's been gone for 19 years now and there has been some pretty interesting things that have happened to Star Trek since then. Some good, some bad. Who knows what new Star Wars trilogies and/or TV shows are going to be made in the decades after Lucas.
Hopefully Lucas has it arranged for his kids to inherit the Lucas Empire and then they can make the decisions. Keep it in the family. -
Quote:Yes his decree that Anakin Solo must die really threw a wrench into the NJO/Yuzhan Vong books. Kyp Durron was the one to die originally, per the authors.and yet will meddle with it directly because he doesn't want the people who read the "fanfiction" to confuse what's going on in the books with what goes on in his movies. because people who read books are far more easily confused than people who just watch movies... i guess...

Quote:The EU is best thought of as "universe B", and the movies as the main universe. Also as it is Lucas' sandbox that the other writers are playing in, he is well within his right to do as he pleases.I'm surprised that the internet isn't more savvy to this sort of will he won't he with another sequel series.
Considering that this hasn't stopped Lucas from "destroying" elements of the EU with The Clone Wars series, I kind of doubt that the EU really matters to him. -
George McFly from Back to the Future; it takes a time paradox to stop him from being a wimpy nerd of a father.

Here's an old favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bocmVZXXY8w

Haven't heard of any either, but I suspect there would be to avoid recipe farming.
An old alt I reactivated to finish the ghosts badge and third costume badge tore through and got all the new tip badges, and when choosing the one for the badge and recipe it got the unique Numina recipe.
Also this old alt only just went Rogue and has NOT yet run a Katie.....yet when it got all the new tip badges it also received the reward message that I could access the Witches hat at the tailor. Is this WAI or a slight error? -
-
Logged back in, rechecked things then went and got the rest of the badges. Only lingering bug appears to be the artwork on the Power Hungry badge showing as a little white square. No big deal since the main thing is that the badge rewards.
-
-
Uhm, didn't it state the power has only 5 charges and that is it? If it cannot be recharged, then it's going to be of brief benefit.
-
Well, glad to read they have apparently upped Jack's spawn rate.

Quote:I agree Lothic. Perhaps it is time to end the Vet Rewards, or just issue the Vet Badges with either no rewards, or else costume tokens and respecs only. You're all over the map with this aren't you? You seem to have a thing against "old timers" but you want top end vet awards to be super-awesome yet not as good as booster pack items. Pick a side.

Anyway I don't know about anyone else but I think I can call myself an "old timer" because I've had a continuously active account since CoH Headstart on April, 25 2004 and I have been regularly playing ever since. I've never taken "time off" for ED or anything else.
And as far as where I stand on Vet Awards I'm actually one of those weird people who think they should have come to an end at 60 months precisely because the whining you're doing right here. People who whine about Vet power X, Y or Z being a "rip-off" because it's not good enough to be a top end Vet award is exactly what I was talking about. The Devs have painted themselves into a corner trying to come up with new things that aren't going to significantly piss off either newer players or older ones and, as I predicted, it's clearly become harder and harder to do that.
Possible ideas could be a vet badge that unlocks the standard capes. Since we have boosters that supply other capes nowadays, perhaps a vet badge that unlocks the standard capes wouldn't be bad?
Also with boosters that provide new auras, plus we have the combat auras and the recent Alpha/Omega auras that a vet badge that unlocks the standard auras wouldn't be bad? -
Quote:Amen.Yeah, R.I.P. Mr. Cunningham/Tom Bosley. He was a good father-figure to grow up with; vastly superior to the idiots kids these days have to endure. You could look up to him and hope that when you became a father that is the man you would be. Sometimes, the passage of time can really wiffle.

Quote:Regarding point 1: while Mutt did say he dropped out, it was also shown that he wasn't an idiot, just lacking in the real world experiences of his father. he is sword trained for starters and seems to have enough mental agility to adapt to situations like his father.Passing the torch to Mutt would be the wrong idea IMHO. There are three distinct problems, most of which have been stated in this thread:
1) An unacademic, uneducated lout taking over from Indy. Wrong!
2) A quite frankly dull time period compared to the 1930 - 40s.
3) A leading man with as much charisma as a plank of wood.
Now if someone suggested doing Indy prequels with a competent actor in the role, then I'd be interested. Compare and contrast The Beef's stint as Indy's sidekick to the pre-credits sequence in Last Crusade and there's no contest.
Also I suspect that Indy will be pretty much handcuffing Mutt to a desk to get his education up to speed. A professor, and now assistant Dean of the University like Indy would not want a drop out for a son.
Also they could easily tweak the story for #5 and say that his adventure with his dad rekindled his academic interests and that he willfully returned to his studies. -

Thank you for the photos and video. My compliments to the design team as these do look nice.
However I shall be giving this a pass. Having hit the milestone of 50 level 50's, I find that the cape from the magic booster pack plus the auras already in game are enough for me. -
It's just variant covers for artists to show their talent and imagination. No big deal. Most of them look pretty cool except for Thor and Tron-verine....I mean Wolverine..

Well there should be no dayjobs in Praetoria that cannot be earned on the red or blue side of the fence on Primal Earth. Likely a Praetorian can get them on Primal but perhaps the names of the badges will be Praetorian names.
