Overall I feel that the Epic damage and Heal badges are the 2 that need to be lowered the most. I'm fine with the Epic Money badges since with the market there will always be things to purchase, etc. hence a need for steady income.
Also I would reiterate my previous idea that 42+month vet rewards could offer you to choose a badge of your choice that your toon doesnt yet have, the limiter being that in order to choose one like Empath you must have the first 5 heal badges. Also you cannot choose an accolade that requires certain component badges, example Born in Battle. Choose a missing component badge to BiB but not BiB itself.
incorporating something like that into the hi level vet rewards, could work.
OR
Epic Badge Recipies get added to the Market. Their cost to buy the recipie is at a Fixed price like that Teleporter to the Market is, but you need:
1. A lot of Ingredients, some of which are rare/pricey
2. A high crafting cost of at least 600,000
3. To craft the Empath badge you still must have the first 5 heal badges, otherwise you just gain the next one in the series. -

Revision as of March 10, 2008
SECTION 8: obtain the Level 45 to 50 badges:
Contact Name Operative Grillo
Arc Name Escaped!
Mission 1 thru 3 are all kill boss and can be ghosted. End boss on each isn't too tough of a fight for most archetypes.
Alternative Efficient Arc:
Contact Name Levantera
Arc Name Strange Case of Benjamin Decker
Mission 1 Rescue/Escort watch for ambushes
Mission 2 Rescue/Escort, hostage usually near door, but if not watch for ambushes
Mission 3 Speak to Dark Watcher
Mission 4 Get 4 glowies: but the catch to this mission is that among the mission goals are to not set off the alarms or engage the Rikti in battle. This is also a 1 hour timed mission. All you need to do is locate and get the 4 glowies. No fighting needed and in fact combat should be avoided. Once you have all four glowies the mission ends successfully and then you can blast all the Rikti to your hearts desire. Stealth powers are nice for this but are not mandatory.

SECTION 7: obtain the Level 35 to 39 badges:
Easy Arc:
Contact Name: Basse Croupier
Arc name: Fat Cat City
Mission 1: Get Glowie only. Multiple Glowies on the map, only one is the right one. Location of the right one can vary. Doesn't need to be a kill all.
Mission 2: Get Glowie only. Multiple Glowies on the map, only one is the right one. Location of the right one can vary. Doesn't need to be a kill all.
Mission 3: its named as kidnap mission and its briefing sure makes it look like you have to escort the target to the exit while fighting ambushes but you don't. This is actually a Kill Boss and Guards mission, thus it can be ghosted.
Note: this Arc was added in response to some PM's I received from those that felt the Technician Naylor arc was too difficult or impossible for certain archetypes.
More challenging Arc
Contact Name: Technician Naylor
Arc name: Last Stand on Mole Point Bravo aka Bravo for the Shadowshard
Mission 1: kidnap and escort tech to the glowie: there is no exit button so you must get back to mission exit yourself
Mission 2: Defeat the 2 longbow squads inside the chamber with you, click the glowie then go into the area with the Rularuu and locate/defeat the Longbow Commander (usually an Elite Boss)
Mission 3: You have to locate the Arachnos Agent named Rimsey and escort him to the glowie. The Glowie is in beginning of map so you can easily figure that Rimsey is farthest from the glowie. To make it worse, IF Rimsey dies the mission is a failure and you WON'T receive any flashback badges. To make it even more interesting, if enemies get in range of Rimsey he WILL stop to fight them, and of course Rularuu ambushes occur as you escort him. Best strategy, locate Rimsey, then before freeing him, go back and clear out all enemies along the path you will be using to escort him back, then free Rimsey and keep moving and you should outpace all ambushes.
Note: I like this arc since its the one where Tech. Naylor is sending you into the portal for each mission. There is no traveling involved in this arc. So set up the Flashback and warp via the Pillar of Ice and Flame to Naylor and just click him after each mission then reenter the portal. As of 3/17/2008 due to some requests I have added the Fat Cat City arc (listed above this one) for players that found the Technician Naylor arc too difficult for the character they were using.

VILLAIN FLASHBACK ARCS to run to get the time warp badges
Ok villains, now that issue 11 is out live many of you have gained what is perhaps the one great power we have all lacked, the Passport to the Dimension of Time; better known as the Ouroborus Portal power. Once in the Ouroborus Zone you can use the Pillars of Ice and Flame to access the past and rerun old story arcs that you like or ones that you missed, and of course set certain conditions of the story arc to obtain certain badges. The same arc can be run as many times as you wish since you are time traveling. Thus if you have a favorite arc in a certain level range you can run it as much as you desire with the different parameters set to obtain the badges for that level range.
HOW TO GET THE OUROBORUS POWER:
Your character must be exposed to time travel. There are various ways to do this. Here are some examples:
1. Your villain is level 40+ and has not been logged in for some time. You log in and you want to get the Ouroborus Portal power. Simply enter Recluse Victory and get one or all four of the map badges then leave the zone. Since Recluse Victory is itself a time loop zone, you have just time traveled and the map badge(s) count as proof. Thus the Ouroborus Portal and Entrusted with the Secret badge are rewarded to you. Now you can warp to Ouroborus and start doing the Flashbacks.
2. Your villain is between levels 1 to 24, so here is what you can do. First, be sure that your VG base has an Ouroborus Crystal installed in the control room. Then you get an L25+ VG mate (or an L25+ friend with their own base with Ouroborus Crystal in it) to set up a quick Flashback mission. Your character must of course be within the level range of the mission that you want to Flashback to, so if you are level 1, your friend has to set up a Level 5 Flashback. Don't bother setting up any of the challenge settings as they won't be needed. Upon completion of the Flashback your low level toon will now have the Ouroborus Portal power, but will not have the Entrusted with the Secret Badge. That's fine since your low level toon must get to level 25 in order to enter the portal. Upon entering the new Ouroborus zone, your toon then goes to the top of the spire where the Chrononaut map badge is. Upon getting that map badge your toon receives Entrusted with the Secret and is ready to Time Travel.
3. Your Villain is between levels 11 and 24, and you want to obtain both the Portal Power and Entrusted with the Secret badge. Have your friend or VG mate set up to Flashback to the story arc: Echo Down the Aeons. Completion of the first mission in the arc will give you the Ouroborus Portal Power, completing the arc provides Entrusted with the Secret. However you still have to be Level 25 to start Flashbacking either from the Ouroborus zone or the Ouroborus Crystal in your base.
4. Your villain just dinged level 25, first go train so that you really are 25, then ask a fellow player that has the Ouroborus Portal power to summon it for you. You can then enter it since you are now Level 25 and once in the Ouroborus Zone, you can go get the Chrononaut map badge. This rewards you with the Ouroborus Portal power and Entrusted with the Secret badge. You can now time travel.
5. Your villain is level 25 or higher and hasn't been used in awhile, and you want to gain the Ouroborus power. Ask a fellow gamer to open their own portal, travel into the Ouroborus Zone and obtain the Chrononaut map badge.
Note: there are other ways to gain the power but the above are perhaps the most efficient ways.
Things to know about the Ouroborus Portal:
1. This power can be a useful tool for quick zoning. Example: You are doing the Crystal Keeper Strike Force that starts in St. Martial. The first mission takes you all the way to Thorn Isle in Nerva. Once you start the Strike Force you can summon the portal and go to Ouroborus Zone, then exit the zone to Nerva and travel to the mission door. Upon completion of the mission, don't bother to exit via the exit button or map door, just Ouroborus Portal yourself to Ouroborus Zone, then exit Ouroborus to St. Martial and go visit the contact.
2. The Ouroborus Portal used to aggro enemies, this has since been changed.
3. You cannot summon an Ouroborus Portal while in Ouroborus Zone. That's fine since the Portal is meant to take you to the Zone and there is an exit portal already.
4. You can no longer summon the Ouroborus Portal while in any of the PvP zones. This was to alleviate a grieving issue, but it also removes a quick escape from the zone.
5. While you CAN gain the Ouroborus Portal and Entrusted with the Secret badge prior to Level 25, and even summon the portal if you aren't level 25, you yourself MUST Be Level 25 to enter the Portal, and you have to be Level 25 in order to start using the Ouroborus Crystal in your VG base.
6. Once summoned your Ouroborus Portal lasts for up to 5 minutes, unless the summoner enters it. As long as the summoner doesn't enter it the portal remains open for others to enter. The Portal has a 5 minute recharge time before you can summon it again.
Things to know about Flashbacks
1. You can bring low level toons with you, provided they are within the level range of the mission or story arc you want to travel back to. However if your teammates are below Level 25, then you have to use the Ouroborus Crystal in your VG Base.
2. Only the star holder on the team can set up and start a
Flashback.
3. Story Arcs are what provide the Flashback challenge badges, however you CANNOT Flashback to a Badge Mission (example: Soul Taker, Couch Potato, etc) and obtain any of the Flashback Challenge badges. Flashing Back to any of the Badge missions will enable you to get that particular badge if you do not have it, and also completing the mission gives you progress towards the Ouroborus Mender badge.
4. Respec Trials and Strike Forces do NOT award Flashback Challenge badges. The exceptions to this are Statesman's Task Force and Recluse Strike Force. Setting either of those to No Temp Powers + No Deaths and completing the requirements at the end will reward the Master Of Statesman or Master of RSF badge.
Now for what is perhaps the most popular questions I've been asked:
CAN I GO BACK AND OBTAIN THE MISSING JAILBIRD MAPBADGE?"
Answer: Yes you can! Finally at long last, villains that missed the Jailbird map badge can go back and claim it. All you have to do is do the Ouroborus Tutorial. One of its missions is for you to Flashback to the Breakout tutorial map and ensure that the Tutorial Events will happen by defeating some longbow and freeing some hostages . Sounds easy eh? Well there is a catch ..
..the Tutorial map is a level 1 map, and the further back you time travel the more your toon is malfactored down. So by coming back here you are now Level 1 again for the duration of your visit. However to aid you in this is some advice: Accolades have now been fixed so that they are available no matter what level you malefactor down to, and you can still use Temporary Powers on this mission. While the Temp Powers are somewhat weakened themselves from the Time Travel, they are still very useful to have. So remember these 3 things: Shivan, Vanguard Heavy, Warburg Rocket. Once you are in the prison area, head up and into Cell #15 and the Jailbird map badge will finally be yours.
Note: the Shivan, Warburg Rocket, Vanguard Heavy aren't necessary to complete this part of the tutorial nor to help you regain the lost Jailbird badge......but they do help a lot
CAN I GO BACK AND OBTAIN THE MISSING ISOLATOR BADGE FOR MY HERO?"
Answer: Yes you can. Similar to the villain tutorial, heroes can flashback to Outbreak and while there they can farm out the 100 kills needed for Isolator.
Disclaimer: as always this is a guide and not a bible. No one is forced to use it either in its entirety or in part.
SECTION 1: the Flashback Badge list.
Exploration
Chrononaut this is the one and only Map Badge in the new Ouroborus zone. Getting in SG/VG mode does not award a Teleporter Beacon since one isn't needed. You have the Ouroborus Portal power after all so why a Base Beacon?
Achievement
Entrusted With The Secret: this badge is obtained after you do an arc that exposes you to time travel.
X total team defeats can be gained running any level Flashback arc
# of defeats --------Badge Name
0: ----- All For One, One For All
1: ----- Divided Mastery
3: ----- Proportional Supremacy
5: ----- Shared Victory
Time Challenges: can be gained running any level Flashback arc
120 Minutes: Bronze Medalist
60 Minutes: Silver Medalist
30 Minutes: Gold Medalist
Power Challenges: there are different ones of these badges per level range of flashback. They are for the following parameters:
Constant Debuff
Enemies Buffed
No Inspirations
No Enhancements
Any combination of the above 4 parameters can be used on a Flashback.
Of the parameters below: only one can be set per Flashback arc but can be set in addition to the other 4 previous parameters:
No Temp Powers:
Primary and Secondary sets only:
No Travel Powers:
Also for Level 40 to 50: No Epic/Patron powers
# Flashback missions completed. These badges are obtained at any level simply by running the required amount of Flashback missions indicated.
# of Flashbacks----Badge Name
5 Flashbacks: --- Troubleshooter
10 Flashbacks: ----Adjuster
15 Flashbacks: ----Calibrator
20 Flashbacks: ----Alterist
25 Flashbacks: ----Balancer
30 Flashbacks: ----Correctionist
35 Flashbacks: ----Repairwoman
40 Flashbacks: ----Overhauler
45 Flashbacks: ----Time Fixer
50 Flashbacks: ----Ouroboros Mender
Now to clarify something: flashing back to a story arc and completing the Arc gets you one notch of progress on the badge meter for these badges, however you can also flashback to something like the Soul Taker badge mission for example and run it successfully to gain a notch of progress on the badge meter. Hence you can flashback to Non Story Arc Missions to gain the # of Flashback missions completed badges, however Non Story Arc Missions do not give any of the other challenge badges. (Time, # of defeats, Power Challenges)
Travel Tips:
Okay so you are going to time warp, you've set the mission at the Ouroborus Crystal in your base and now you are walking to your base Teleporter for that zone to start the mission. Well STOP. You don't need to use your base Teleporter or if you are setting this in the Ouroborus Zone you dont need to run back to the Exit Portal of that Zone. Click the Ouroborus Crystal/Pillar of Ice and Flame again and you shall see an option "Teleport to Contact" Select that and go.
Your on an arc that cuts off all your travel powers be they temp powers or otherwise, and you are stuck in the heart of Grandville and you cannot as yet call your contact for the next mission. What will you do? What WILL you do? Simple, activate your personal Ouroborus portal power then after arrival in Ouroborus Zone you click the Pillar of Ice and Flame and warp to the contact again. From there of course you have to travel to the mission, but that can't be avoided. Alternately, if you have the veteran reward power that lets you warp to your base you can use that and then use the Pillar in your base. -

Griefing aside...
Does anyone else wish they could bring back the 2005 Christmas event as a side to our current one?
Y'know, the ones with the helicopter mission to the opposite faction's base to steal/retrieve presents...
Both are fun!
[/ QUOTE ]
The chopper mish was fun, but we at least have the badges from 2005 back in this one, they just need to be crafted. -
[ QUOTE ]
and an SG known for griefing hami raids has already set up 'blockers' in key gates
Hurricane, lightning storms - you name it to create lag and distraction.
Any chance there could be an out and out statement about this LH, ie being an actionable /suspension offense. (suspension on the account at least for the duration of the event)
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with this. There is no reason for people to be out there spoiling the event for others or thinking that "They" own the ski slope and can dictate who can ski and who cannot. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok, I can no longer get the timer to start for the ski run on my current character. Tried selecting different missions, relogging, still nothing. There isn't a limited number of time you can try it is there?
Edit: I entered a baby new year mission with the timer still running, wonder if that messed it up.
[/ QUOTE ]
No you can ski until you are blue in the faceIf the timer isnt starting then the game thinks you have an old run still going, simply go thru all the gates, laugh at the ridiculously long time you have obtained and then start anew. This happened to me today after I mapserverd
-
[ QUOTE ]
I have a question about the holiday 'gift' powers, specifically Holiday Spirit, and I'm not sure where to ask it. The prize grants debt protection for 48 hours of gameplay when used. Being a player with a lot of alts, I still have multiple alts (okay, the majority of my alts), still running Holiday Spirit from LAST year. IE, they haven't been played 48 hours yet all year. Does the new Holiday Cheer 'stack,' or do I just hold on to it until last year's runs out?
[/ QUOTE ]
Im uncertain if it stacks but i would err on the side of caution and let the old one run out. -
[ QUOTE ]
I have to say, the skiing trials were about as much fun as having my teeth pulled sans anesthetic.
The rest of the winter event is as fun as always, though.
[/ QUOTE ]
I tend to feel the same about the Ski Trials. My prime badger secured the 3 Ski badges after....a lot... of runs for the gold.
As to the presents being a discouragement for teaming...well the only way to get Winter Lord to come out and play is on a team of 4 or more and getting a naughty present (thats how it was in 2006, I doubt it changed)....so you have to team for that aspect. Although.....whoever opens the present is suddenly standing under the WL....
As to the Ski badges, yeah speed boost was nice.....but i found Inertial Reduction to be nicer.... -
[ QUOTE ]
The money badges should allow the sale of items on the Market by now though. They will be easier to get, but it makes more sense.
[/ QUOTE ]
Be way to easy to farm out the money badges that way. We have badges for items sold now instead.
Ah well back to money badge grinding.... -
Well it wasn't easy and took some work but on the basic plot now I managed to install rooms for the Turbine Generator and the bit but awful shiny Autonomous Expert System
Couldnt quite swing the Fusion Generator but oh well. -

I think it's about time that all the epic badges get looked at.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. The money badges I'm ok with since we have a market and IO's now hence the need for constant in game funds, but the Epic Heal and Damage badge should be reevaluated, and this is coming from someone with an Immortal Mastermind. I would NOT feel cheated at all if the Epic requirements were cut down some.
And please activate the tracking meters for Artisian thru Fabricator. -
No one has a Fire/Kin guide? Well hmm....

Also having chatted with my fellow poison expert; Poison_Pill I am adding Poison_Pill's Ish 11 Thug Poison configuration to this guide.
Per Poison_Pill:
Here is the updated twinked out I11 slotting for thug/poison MM's. I have shifted towards Antidote from Vengeance due to more ship raids and PvP than RSF runs. Also, slotted towards Siren's Call instead of Bloody Bay. Shivan runs last <10 min and I don't summon pets untill I get to the fire base.
Soulbound Allegiance: Chance for Build Up is absolutely recomended against at this point for being totally ineffective for MM's.

All my old villains are dancing around in their base with great joy.
Still wont stop me from debt grinding debt badge 4 since Flashbacks can kill 2 birds with one stone: Flashback badge and Debt badges.
But its good to know that I don't need to scramble to get Invader at a low level now. -
[ QUOTE ]
One issue I discovered with your "I don't need Provoke" idea. Ouroborus mission that delevel you. If you want to tankermind at low levels Provoke is the way to go. I use Force Bolt but it does not compare in aggro management to Provoke. Your pets can easily grab the aggro from any mob you don't hit with Force Bolt and then all hell can break loose. However since the devs posted an explanation of how taunt and aggro work there is a way to manage aggro through position. The closer you are to a target the more aggro you generate so I put myself on top of the target and attacked as best I could (Force Bolts, Sands of Mu and Blackwand). But if I missed even once I tended to loose aggro. I found it easy to maintain aggro with only one target but difficult with a group. So although you can manage aggro without Provoke, I prefer Provoke.
I also did not take leadership. My issue is that without many attacks or the Leadership pool, I don't need Stamina. With Leadership I need Stamina. So instead of Leadership being 2 or 3 slots, it's actually 5 or 6 slots (depending on how many Leadership powers you want). It wasn't worth it to me and I haven't had any problems with it in PvE. But that's my personal choice (I always stubbornly try to find a way not to take Stamina just to show you don't need it).
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh. If I felt comfy dropping Stamina I'd gladly do so. But I like some redundancy at times....wouldn't want the batteries to run dry in a heavy combat scenario.
