What's taken the wind from my sails for this event is all the gorram'd lag that can occur during Zombie/Banner attacks.
-
Quote:Sounds like you haveI am now down to 3 heroes (IG-2112MD, Master TimeLord & Mr E-Being) & 3 villains (Dark Willow, Neon Widow & Bleakest Death) needing the new event...
I was able to finish off Cold Satisfaction villain side before switching to heroes & joining with KK to run with Energy Arc & Beauty in a Bubble.
I still need the GMs & Unseelie on 2 villains: Neon Widow & Bleakest Death
And a couple on both sides still need some of the costume badges (mostly just Ostentatious).
For the short amount of time I was actually able to log-in this weekend, I think I did pretty well with the events.Only thing I want to do now is wrap up the Ghost badge for ToT on alts that didn't get it last year, then have certain villains of mine see about fighting the banners. Other then that, it's kick back and have fun.
-
Wentworth and Blackmarket need to taken over by a third party and set it up as an independent company that equally supplies to both sides and answers to neither.
-
Quote:OR at least set price caps. It's ridiculous to see recipies selling for some of the exhorbitant prices that appear on the market.Well, to give you guys some hope...
I remember the days when villains couldn't access hero epics, for all sorts of silly reasons. Lo and behold an issue came and Stalkers and Doms got Hibernate and so on. It just took them a long time to warm to the idea.
So...a merge is possible, you guys just need to be as noisy as we were.
Realistically though, this is just bull-headedness on the part of the devs.
I'm fairly sure my vills will sneak into herotown, grind Merits ultra fast in Posi TF etc, go back redside and cash them in and sell the items.
RP reasons? Laughable.
If it's a Black Market some of those trinkets may already come from Paragon City.
I'm a heroine but I use SOUL TRAPPED GEMS. I use the essence of an evil, earth-corrupting entity called the Hamidon to boost my powers and its goo to craft enhancements.
Need I go on? My heroes routinely pound in the faces of thousands of villains cloned from hero DNA, routinely bust heads of mages from an older than civilization's empire...come on, give the RP a rest folks.
If you won''t let us merge Markets than let us at least trade goods (inspirations!) between factions.
I'll be getting two copies of GR but this is FAIL.
The inf disparity is always going to be there. More people will always play blueside, for whatever reasons.
MERGE THE DAMNED MARKETS.
I'm sick of not getting items for weeks, I'm sick at the lack of supply, I'm sick at how many more Merits I can get blueside.
It's stupid, it's an RP contrivance and its time is past due.
MERGE THE DAMNED MARKETS
-
Ok, not liking this much myself, but on the other hand, lets say characters could access either market......so I take a villain and have it "repent" and become a Rogue and then it goes to the nearest Wentworths where there prices are cheaper.......and then after shopping and installing its upgrades, the rogue reveals itself to still be a villain and laughs "SUCKERS! Now I am PURPLE POWERED!" and heads back to the Rogue Isles.

Quote:Managed to spin all my blue alts through the event. Some are missing the ToT Costume badges but those aren't a priority compared to things like hunting down Jack/Eochai/Unseelie or gathering a group when the zone alert states that its Banner time.I really need to work on the new badges Hero side - I only have them on one of my heroes so far...
...and it is not Mr E-Man...
lol
Next up, recycle some redside alts into the event so they can finish the ToT badge for ghosts since last year the spawn rate on Spirits was a bit.....off. -
Quote:Yes the team I joined last night for a banner event was holding their own until the arrival of my Sp3 came in and started mezzing and confusing and basically mind-ripping the enemy spawn. Didn't even notice a stamina problem at all despite any more endurance the powers use now. Came away with a clean sweep of all the Banner badges in one run of the event.<QR>
Hell yes, the ability to lock down an entire spawn including bosses with one application of mez is always worth it. With the increased endurance costs because of the damage buffs, you're also going to want that endurance refill to get you by. Oh, and permanent mez protection and KB protection is a plus...
Permadom is very much worth it, especially when your toon can double and triple stack it. -
-
I'm down, either brute or sonic kin
-
Quote:Doms can now be played more effectively thanks to dom changes, however permadom is still the way to go. Hm, that reminds me, need to bring out the Super Permadom 3 later tonight for Halloween. The changes do focus the "perma-dom" building, though. My +recharge build (though it lacks the hasten to be perma-yellow sparkles? No thanks!) has a significant edge on my single origin enhanced doms. That said, doing gimpy builds that sacrifice performance for extra recharge are bound to be less popular. Domination has a great many percs, but it's not a one-trick any longer.
The new plus to +recharge is with the higher base damage, especially on a team with +damage, Your AoE's can get up to some snazzy numbers...and since doms only get a limited gamut of AoE in their attacks, getting those back fast makes taking out groups far faster. My mob attacks chain is Psy Scream, dark obliteration, Psychic Shockwave, utility power and control, repeat. If you happen to snag a fulcrum shift, wave hello to those funny blasters as you mez then decimate spawns in complete safety. -
Get a Malta mission, find a room with a sapper. Kill all Malta but the sapper. Stand directly in front of the sapper and he will tazer-jab you with his gun. No need to be in rest mode, just stand in front of him. Watch the fun of your toon being tazer tortured for a bit, then go to bed.

Quote:Gratz on the frequent Jacks.Iron Warrior earned three times on three alts in Talos with a team of 8 in under 30 minutes.
10-22-2009 01:09:45 Congratulations! You earned the Iron Warrior badge.
10-22-2009 01:19:14 Congratulations! You earned the Iron Warrior badge.
10-22-2009 01:24:46 Congratulations! You earned the Iron Warrior badge.
I called in badge channels to specifically advise that we were looking to defeat Eochai repeatedly until Jack spawned. The team filled quickly and was nice enough to let me switch alts between each Jack.
We did not have to kill Eochai many times between each spawn - 3 before the first Jack, 1 before the second Jack. There may have been one between the second and third but I was switching alts, returned, and found my team was already on the third Jack.
There was one other team hunting him. It was around 1 am so not many folks were on. It is the Virtue server and normally we'd have far more teams hunting but not this evening. Though, the last few days have been very busy with 2-3 Peregrines, GV's, Atlas, etc.
I can only recommend assembling a team of 8, having them dedicated to scouting specific areas, and using a fair sized - open air zone such as Talos. IP is too big. Others have too many buildings to see well at a distance. Also, some badgers tell me that he doesn't spawn in Atlas or GC. Good luck to you.
---
PS. I have seen Eochai spawn next to a Banner. So, considering the time between the new Supernatural events, one could work on spawning Jack undisturbed easily.
As to Jack spawning: the lowest level blueside zone he will spawn is Talos, for redside it's Sharkhead. -
Quote:My own thoughts:Hey everyone
I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but the Deadly Apocalypse was my inspiration (with the help from Art, Code, Audio, and Powers) so kudos/blame falls on my shoulders. So let me tell you what inspired the Deadly Apocalypse:
I wanted to come up with something different. The Haunting Banners were a way to get people to spread out a bit, work together, and go looking for their adventure.
We had a very small time frame in which to borrow the Art team since they're neck deep in Going Rogue so I had to get creative! I think they did a beautiful job on the Banners and FX and I am well pleased.
The UI was put in to help you figure out what to do since this event is different from an invasion. This one involves simultaneous objectives and communication even though people aren't necessarily on the same team.
During testing we had some good feedback, which was essentially one of a few things:
a. Totally figured out what to do and it was awesome!
b. Totally couldn't figure out what to do and it sucked!
c. I really wish I knew the backstory on this.
That, and, "You really need to show me how to find the GM. I can't find him."
So we added information to the UI so that players could read the backstory and/or find out some strategy or how the event works and how to get to the GM at the end. I didn't want to give everything away (because what's the fun in that?), but I didn't want to overly frustrate players either with new sets of rules that no one but myself knows. (What do you mean, you can't read my mind?) and
By the way, the ParagonWiki info is great, even though it says it's a work in progress.
So, in reading the above posts about the event, I'll keep plugging through feedback and see what you liked and what you didn't and file it away for future reference (if they let me do this again). Ooo...Deadly War Witch Apocalypse...nevermind.
And I know that the Code team is scanning the forums for issues about stability and crashes so they're on top of that.
That's it from this end.
Have a fantastic Halloween and for those of you attending HeroCon, I will see you in a few days!
War Witch
1. I love the new Banner event
2. The spawn rate of the new event seems a bit low at times.
3. Talos last night got so lagged that basically the entire zone imploded upon itself causing everyone to mapserver and the zone to rollback a bit once people were able to log back in. We were GM hunting then the Zombie attack occurs which lasted a long time and lag began to grow exponentially, then after the Zombies were crushed a minute later comes the alert "Supernatural Activity detected in Talos" and then things got so bad that the implosion occurred.
Now granted the event only recently started and all the badgers are out in full force, but when a zone implodes causing everyone to mapserve and get rolled back after log in delays and thus lose any badges they may have gained before the zone failure then something needs to be done.
Here's an idea, and its going to be received with mixed reaction I'm certain, but if it keeps the above described implosion from occurring then that's fine.
All entrances to the zone, including warping in from an SG base, and in some zone cases the Ouroborus portals as well as Pocket D all shut down 5 minutes after the alert is announced. Think of it as Statesman or Recluse if you are on redside deciding that the risk of the mystic forces behind the event spreading to other zones is so great that they order the shutdown of all entrances to the zone that the event is occuring. Also the power of the forces behind the attack are so great that zones that Ouroborus are connected to can't be reached by traveling from Ouroborus, and even DJ Zero gets nervous and orders the doors from Pocket D to the zone under attack to be closed until the attack is over. Naturally shutting them down should take some time, thus players have 5 minutes to get to the zone or in some cases to evacuate the zone if they don't wish to be in the event. Now granted this may mean that some people will not be able to participate because they can't get to the zone, and it may mean that some zones that are under populated with players won't have much firepower to bring against the enemy, but which is the greater evil:
1. Some players not being able to make it to the event before all methods of getting into the zone are closed?
2. Some zones not having enough players to successfully fight the event?
3. The zone overloading and imploding thus causing everyone to Mapserver/disconnect and face a rollback to a previous state thus losing any badges they may have gained before the zone implosion?
For me it's number 3.
5 minutes should be enough time as the Banner event timer starts at 20 minutes, attacks begin at 16:00 on the timer, thus players can still get in up to 1 minute after the attacks start.
5 minutes should also be enough for things like Zombie attacks and Rikti Invasions. -
Quote:Make one of each, I did. They are both 50 and fully armed and operational. Hard to say which I like best as they both rip through enemies pretty nicely, but I will say that /storm is fantastic especially when you have the powers including the storm cloud permacharged. Truly my bot-storm is a god of thunder!I recently got my bots/traps to 32 and i want to re-roll now with a secondary that can more effectively and easily keep targets debuffed, controlled, slowed/kb'd, from range without having to use 5 different powers in melee range. This has led me to choosing between /dark or /storm. Clearly, the debate is between Tar Patch and Freezing Rain. Freezing Rain has the added defense debuff, huge -res number, the ability to slot achille's heel, and slows, and KDs enemies. Coupled with snow storm, nothing is getting out of that massive burn patch.
Hands down Freezing Rain beats Tar Patch. As a whole, though, /Dark does seem very tempting for me. I have a mercs/dark MM and he's been at 50 for years. I'm familiar with all /dark has to offer, and that is why I am given pause over this choice. The to-hit debuffs in that set will make my bots all but invincible against normal foes. AoE heal for when they do take damage, and a rez/stun for my teammates. Can't leave out fluffy, either. A whole extra layer of debuff and control.
Primarily I'd like to hear from some bot/storm users about their experiences in the post-32 game. -
Quote:Was just is in GV and was at a Eochai spawn point, next to it was the Arachnos Flyer on one of its patrol stops, and a Banner event was at 17:00 and counting.I think it's been pretty clearly demonstrated here that you're erroneously linking two things and claiming there is cause and effect. Just because you didn't find a GM at a spawn point during a Banner event does NOT prove the Banner event had anything to do with that GM not being out at that particular time.

Quote:When Eochai falls the respawn checks for its 10% chance to manifest Jack, but for Eochai or Jack to count as a complete kill to trigger the respawn, all the Unseelies must be destroyed. Been that way every year.We had a situation running the cycle in IP last night where we covered all spawns points a couple of times and found nothing, only to hear someone say..."Hey, there are some pumpkins over here and one ghost..."
We couldn't believe we missed that, but after the ghost was killed Eochai respawned.
Might even be something like that. -
I've gone through Shark, Nerva, St Mart, GV, Talos and Pi. Spawn points are same as before.

Quote:I also am not a Day Job fan. Some of the powers they confer have some uses, but the time it take to build up a full charge seems prohibitive, also the time to obtain one dayjob badge is still a bit lengthy, IMO. Used to be 30 days then changed to 21. Should be 14, imo. Currently it takes over a year of offline time to obtain all current Dayjobs.Pine for the days when hardcore badging was hard. Conversely, pine for the days when badging meant being logged IN and earning them, instead of being logged OUT and earning them. (Sorry, not a day job fan.)
To whoever asked about Power Liberator: It was available 'til spring of last year if you happened to have an IoP in your base. They closed that loophole however (or supposedly did, but there were rumors there were one or two IoPs still out there).
And yes, IoP were removed on the last sweep. -
Quote:Yes the lag has been a bit bad. Also the apparent infrequency of the event spawning. Six of my alts including my 2 main badgers have them all now, but it wasn't easy. After the Talos crash, We tried again in Galaxy and met the same fate. Most people gave up and went back to ToT'ing, but I tried the next event in Brickstown and was able to pick up one banner (I was solo on MB), and the new GM. The event in Founders went well also, but I came late to the party.
With so much going on, and people losing interest due to lag, I decided to just come back another day as well. I hope people were able to get the ToT badges they wanted. We'll randomly get some people together tonight maybe.
I think it was just the first night madness that brought us trouble. By Thursday, activity might die down a little, so our Villain event should go much better than our Hero event. See you then! (Well tonight also if you're at the KahnTF. lol) -
Ding! Immortal #7 arises while in combat with Halloween Jack! Turns out my Turbo Stone tank was closer then I last thought and a couple of good hits from Jack and Immortal dings.....soon followed by Jack's badge....

Quote:IT's either Eochai or Jack, the only time you will see them at the same time is during their normal Croatoa spawns. Also duplicate spawns of them in a zone during the event do not occur....unless there is a doozy of a bugYesterday, in Faultline, Eochai was at one of the banners, and had to be cleared so we could attack it without him jumping the squishies. Just after we took down the last banner, he wandered up for round two.
I was under the impression that there could only be one Eochai per zone. If so, he definitely respawns during the event. Either way, the event does NOT despawn him.
Still, Jack's spawn rate during Halloween does need some improvement. -
