  3. *hangs over the railing, looking decidedly green*

  5. *puts on her Nekozilla outfit and stomps through the new Rookery. Basement*

    ROOOOOAAARRRRRmew.

Did someone call for a giant monster? I'm so hungry, I could eat a city!
  6. For what the Rookery. is, see my signature. We hang out here when we should be doing other 'more important' stuff like work or school and have fun, since we can't be playing games.

*dons a stealth suit, sneaks into Pogo's room, swipes all of his good loot and then leaves an armed grenade in his pants before retreating*

Well Fedor, Bethesda did fess up in saying that they goofed with the ending of Fallout 3. They thought players would really want a big climatic ending to the story, and actually have it end. And people turned around and said "OMG what do you mean we can't keep playing? RAAARRR!"

Operation Anchorage and The Pitt were supposed to be side stories from what I understand. Things that happened within the timeframe of the main story in FO3. Broken Steel is the actual continuation. (small spoiler below)

Basically, they are keeping the ending of the FO3 story intact... Your character either sacrifices themselves or has one of their allies do it. Big explosions, mass triumph, end credits roll. the start of Broken Steel begins with 'and two weeks later...' It goes on with the theory that you 'sacrificed' yourself for the greater good, but the Brotherhood managed to save your life. Now you're working with them to finish off the Enclave. So they get to keep their story and have the main character still playing.

    (end spoilers)

I really like FO3 because there is both set pieces, and random things going on. It lends itself to a lot of re-playablity without feeling completely like you are doing the same quests over and over. Or you could just go off the rails and do what you want. Play a complete [censored]. Leave the vault, show up in Megaton and shoot the sheriff in the face and go on a killing spree if you want... forget the storyline, do whatever you like.

And then you add in the DLC and mods.. there's a LOT of replayability in this game.. Right now, I'm going light on the mods, since I want to have as clean and close to intended play for my first run though. The biggest thing I have is that I am using a player housing mod to drop a bunker right outside of Megaton with all the amenities from the start. A little help, but not like dropping a pile of gear on my character. Later on I want to try some of the more game changing mods, like one I saw that lets you modify any weapons you have... Full auto shotgun, sure and thank you!
  8. I never played Oblivion or the previous Fallout games before, though after playing FO3, I plan on picking them up at some future date. I have heard a lot of fans of the previous Fallout games hated 3 because it was different... But seriously, how can you hate such an excellent game if you like the concept. Just because it's not a 2.5D adventure game like the first two? C'mon.. Love it for what it is.
  9. Heh. A lot of Fallout 3 fans in here I see. I just got it last weekend, and I so kick myself for dragging my feet so long. I don't tend to play a lot of single player games, because I'll drop $50 on one, play it for a while, then get distracted with MMOs again and it sits there half played.

I finally broke down and bought it though, and OMG, so glad. It's so much fun just exploring the wastes and looting goodies. I messed around with several characters and a bunch of mods (love games that let you use extensive modding. I want to play with GECK soon.) This weekend I sat down and started a 'serious' play time character, focusing on being a small arms VATS marksman and frontier lawman. And then playing around a bit with a melee focused character. Who ran into a patrol of 3 Outcast Brotherhood guys outside of Megaton. I was shocked to see them there. Then I proceeded to beat the snot out of them with a pair of spiked knuckles, and swiped their power armor and lasers. Goooo martial arts!
  10. *falls though a portal from a post apocalyptic wasteland, does a neat tuck and roll to get behind cover, then waves an automatic rifle around*

Sheesh, I go away for a bit, and portals open up to everywhere. Hiya everybody... Oh, and catch!

*tosses a Quantum Nuka-Cola grenade and ducks behind the cover*

  14. Deepest, Darkest Africa? sounds like just the job for Alan Pogomain!

  17. Hey! that's not me! I never eat bugs! Ewww!

Okay.. I posed for the photo.. but they never told me what it was for. I was just a kitten, I needed the catnip...
  18. Oh yeah.. those are some sexy web cams.. Ara's is so firm.. so round.. And that hot little red number? Woo woo!

Rooky... Sorry hon. I'm just not into that animal stuff, ya know?
  19. I liked Enterprise too. To me it kind of felt a bit like the original series, except they seemed determined to give them an ongoing enemy like in later series... Certainly it was better than Voyager, possibly better than DS9. No no.. you guys explore. We'll stay here on this station and let the adventure come to us.
  20. Chris Claremont is a writer, best known for his very long run on the X-men series of books, back before there was 20 different ones. He was the 'X-Man' for 17 years, and a lot of their most famous stories and characters came from his pen.
  21. Claremont is back on X-men as of this month. Or back on a X-men book... I'm not exactly sure on the details, but later this month they're releasing the first of his stories again. I think he may be picking up where he left off... It all sounds very strange however it turns out, but I know I'll be stopping by the comic store to pick it up.

Edit: I actually looked up some info about it. His book is called X-Men Forever, and will be picking up from where he left off in the 90s. I'm not sure how I feel about dumping more than a decade's worth of storytelling... but then again, I haven't been very impressed with the X-book's stories for a long time.

He's also doing another book about the children of the X-men.
  22. Both of which you'll notice, aren't X-men...

Seriously though, the X-books are filled with characters far more interesting than 'I'm the best there it at what I do, bub' Wolverine. Sure the bad(censored) attitude does appeal to some people, but I do think it's a case of self sustaining fame. People know him because he's the character who's most in the spotlight, not because he's the most interesting.
  23. Honestly, I think he's the 'most popular' because they keep shoving him down everyone's throat. Like Paris Hilton, he had a nice nudge to stardom, but now he's mostly famous for being famous.
  24. Stuff happened. With the people, at the place.

    And then everyone went home.
  25. pffft. Never listen to the media hype. They're paid to make whatever movie sound like THE BESTEST THING EVVVERRRRR!!!!!
