  1. Wednesday sounds good to me. DDO isn't free yet.. but it's going to be. I'll poke in and see what's up with it. I wonder, I have my old account.. would I be able to play that for free? And what about the drow characters I already have on that account?
  2. I would be interested in a static team, and could play any night.

How do I always end up in the middle of your tussles? lol

You went grocery shopping Neko??? I'm so proud!!! Did you remember to pick up the chololate?!

Where's Fed??? I still owe him and The Pupster an epic tickling!

Can't help it if you're there, Maddie. And I picked up a chocolate creme pie, Hershey's syrup for ice cream and chocolate milk, and a bag of Reese's cups! I'm all set for a while.
  4. *pounces on the puppy*

Oh, the usual morning stuffs. I am returned from grocery shopping. You may rejoice now.
  5. *buttwiggles and pounces at the feather, losing the goggles in the process*
  6. *looks up at the goggles and goes all steampunky again*

muahahaHAHA! I shall rebuild this Thinking Machine with steam, brass and wood! Truly it shall be a terror among terrors and secure my place in the Mad Scientist Hall of Fame! And then I'll show them! I'll show them ALL! They called me MAD! How dare they call me MAD! Well, okay I am mad, but words hurt you know.
  7. *tussles with Fedor between work, eating and windows 7ing*

hmm. I am once again sans sound. I can hear if I plug in my usb headset, but I can't get sound to come from my speakers, even though windows says it's installed properly and routing sound through the built in sound card. Which worked fine under windows xp. Tried a couple different sets of speakers that I know work...

hmm. I wonder if I have an addon soundcard among my parts. I think I do.
  8. I thought that might be it. I played in the beta a very small amount this weekend. It looks very pretty, as you might expect of an asian inspired MMO. Character choices seem pretty limited, though only one of the races was available for testing. The quest structure and fighting is ripped out of pretty much every fantasy MMO out there. "Hi, you're awake now. Go kill me five whatsits, then go collect 3 doodles, then go see this next guy for more simple quests." I didn't play long because I was bored to tears, though that is probably more because of my MMO burnout than any problem with the game. It should be noted that I never played long enough to get my wings and fly.

PVP is a big part of the game, but as I've been lead to believe, it's kind of like COX. You only have open combat between the races in certain areas, so if you avoid said areas then you never have to PVP. I don't know how much there will be to do as you level up if you don't PVP though.

My brief review is: It's another fantasy MMO with a neat twist (everyone flies) and a pretty wrapper. If it's free to play, I'll probably look into it. If it's not, there's nothing there to pull me from the other paid fantasy MMOs that I already play.
  9. Ya-hoo! Mountain Dew!

*shakes up the moonshine jug until the cork pops off and shoots through her hat*

And you're not not a real southerner until you crave GRITS in the morning. Hmm.. I should play Cheesy Grits sometime again.

g'morning all. Here's hoping things are less work-stressful today than they were yesterday. I gots me a lot of errands to do. I'm also finally getting around to installing the Windows 7 RC on my old computer... Anyone who's played with it, do you know if it's safe to install it as a dual boot with windows XP?

And so after 5 years on the CoX forums I've just ignored my first person. I guess it had to happen sometime.

Someone forgot to send me the invisi-text goggles!

Maybe my screen is wonky but I had to highlight that to read it.

Sorry to hear about your work computer tho. Give it the "Office Space" treatment and get a new one!

    [/ QUOTE ]

No... Fey just always used to post in red text, which people said was impossible to read against the COV background. So now she posts in blue, which is impossible to read against the COH background. You just have to get used to highlighting her posts to read anything she says.
  13. You could fake a french accent while delivering the chocolates...

I'm sorry to hear about insurance problems folks... Honestly, they're pretty much a racket, but a legal one, and a useful one.

They're basically betting you that you won't get sick, and you're betting that you will get sick. So either you don't get sick and pay them lots of money for nothing, or you do get sick, and then they do their best to pay as little as possible within the terms of your agreement with them. It's kind of a lose/lose situation for you...

Of course, you could be like me and not be able to afford insurance at all and hope to never get sick. Because when I do, I'm screwed basically.

You're remotely working? Is that like "hardly working"?

Yay kitteh for taking advantage of the man!

*gives Neko a Reese's cup for her troubles*

    Also, on a game-related note: I don't think I like my elec/sonic corruptor. She's boring to play.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *noms the Reeses*

Thanks Emmi. Yeah, I live on the other side of the country from the office of the company I work for. Makes it a bit hard to stop in the office and fiddle with computer settings and stuff, and that's the IT guy's job anyway, I wouldn't step on his toes.

I used to live out there in California, but I couldn't stand the expense of it, so I moved back east. They tried to replace me, but couldn't (at least not in the two month's notice I gave them). So I wound up working remotely for them, and it's worked out well for both of us.

edit: *returns and hugs the Pogo* Good luck and I hope your mom gets out of hospital soon.

Curse you Amish gold farmers! CURSE YOUUUUU!
  16. ugh. I hope so Fedor. I hate these sorts of problems. I like a nice, orderly bit of work. It's especially frustrating because I'm stuck in the middle between the clients and the people at work, and since I'm remotely working, all I can do is pass messages between people, I can't actually do anything to get it working again.
  17. *tussles a bit with Fedor, but turns dejectedly back to work*

ugh ugh ugh. Will the problems never cease?

Okay.. so my company's ISP had some major failure or another late last Sunday (not yesterday, but last week). The major upshot was that something went kablooey, and at first we had no internet access at all. And they couldn't get the parts they needed for their old systems. So much frantic panicing and work was had by all, and many of our clients who tried to send us files during the time overnight that the internet was down and we didn't know about it all failed. Monday morning was complete crazy chaos.

Well, work arounds were set into place. We couldn't use the usual static IP addresses while the ISP was fixing things, so temporary IPs were set up so our clients could send us files and access their databases on the web, all that sort of thing.

It took the ISP until Friday to get things straightened out on their end, and we changed our IP addresses to the original ones, and sent out messages to our clients Friday afternoon to use those instead of the temporary ones, which were then disabled.

Of course, both of my contacts at the client companies apparently decided to leave early Friday afternoon....

So in a lovely repeat of last week, everything they tried to send us this weekend failed, now we've got to try to get them resent so we can do our job. ugh.

In retrospect, I should have had them hold off on changing things back until today, or at least gotten some confirmation that the clients knew what was going to happen before having the IP addresses changed back to avoid this. But I didn't. I mean, I check my work email all the time, and I don't leave work early. So it didn't occur to me that this would happen.

    So. Much. Fun.
  18. *stretches and yawns, looking up*

Who put a llama in my bed? Oh well, shove over there Donut Tina. G'morning everyone.
