  1. Just 'considered a space western'? Pfft. Firefly is THE space western. Now I'm not a rabid Joss Whedon fangirl. Buffy and related shows were okay. Dr. Horrible was fantastic. But Firefly and Serenity were freaking amazing, and deserved much much better than the ham handed handling it got from Fox. It surely deserved at least a second season.
  2. *fully supports Fedor and gives him a Firefly shaped donut*
  3. *pulls on her browncoat and straps on her gun, nodding to the rest of the crew*

    Let's go be bad guys.

    *lonely guitar solo*
Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
    I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can be
    Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me...
  4. Yeah, I'm hoping that quote is a joke Heroid, because those 'rules' are absurd to the point of insanity. Coming up with a name does not confer any kind of ownership over it. If you want that, best study up on trademark laws. And in any case, most MMO's terms of conduct specify that anything you create on their servers belongs to them, so when you make up a character you're giving over all rights to said character to them. Which is why it's not advisable that you use a character out of some story or comic of your invention that you intend to publish.

Given that the last 'rule' there is basically prompting people to harass, troll and slander someone who doesn't follow these 'rules', I can't see this as anything other than a fairly lame joke.
  5. Yeah... sorry. If you give up a name, you give up the name. You don't have any more 'right' to that name than anyone else. It's certainly absurd to think that someone you don't know would somehow be able to read your mind to know if they give it up later that they should inform you. Telepathy is not in the game you know. I know I've had really good names, deleted that character then later on decided to remake them and found the name had been taken in the mean time. That's just the way it goes. If you give up the name, it's anybody's to claim.
  6. Hehe. Well, I'm glad someone got it at least, Pogo. Better late than never, right?
  7. *folds an origami kitteh and leaves it at the scene of the crime*
  8. Orbital anvils and healing hot tubs? We seem to be getting away from Noir here..
  9. *gets carried off by a couple of hairy thugs with no necks, flailing helplessly*

Oh help! Help me! I'm being kidnapped by the villains thugs! Oh I need a dashing, brooding dark hero to save me!
  10. I don't know if he had spots. I'd heard that he ran amok in Kent, and lately he's been overheard in Mayfair. And his hair was perfect.
  11. *speaks with a low, sultry purr*

I was over at Trader Vic working. I set my mittens down on a counter near some hairy handed gent drinking a pina colada. The next thing I knew, they were gone. You must help me detective. I'd do anything to get my mittens back. *deep breath* Anything...
  12. *slinks into the detective's office wearing a gown that looks painted on and poses provocatively*

I need your help. I've lost my mittens, and I don't know where to find them.
  13. You can have some of my cold Tiger. It's a lovely 45 degrees here as we approach noon. Yay.
  14. *snugs Detra back*

But, pink fuzzy sweaters are to magical to touch! Hi everyone who's come in. And yes Rook, there's lots of good free to play games out there, and I have a lifetime membership with LOTRO. I'll be getting Borderlands soon too, so I've no lack of gaming. I'm actually cutting back on my game time somewhat, as that was one of my issues. I've been spending way to much time in games lately and not enough in the real world. so I'm working to change that.

I would drop COX and WOW right now for the money I would save, but those are the two paid games I've played that I actually have made a bunch of friends in, and I'd miss you all a lot if I did give it up, so for now I'm letting it coast until I see what kind of financial options I can come up with to deal with my debt.
  15. It's been an interesting couple of weeks for me. Big roller coaster emotionally. But I'm getting a handle on things and working to straighten out my life, which I've pretty much been letting sink into a big hole the past couple of years. It's going to take me a long time to set things straight, but just the fact that I'm facing it and working towards it has helped me immensely.

A big part of that has been trying to get myself back into a good place financially, though I'm a bit lost when it comes to money matters. All I really know is money in and money out, so I've been cutting off any extra expenses I can, which for me means gaming. I've canceled my MMO subscriptions except for COX and WOW, and they may wind up going too. Otherwise I am just not paying for online games. The money saved may not be a lot, but it does add up.

I just wish I had made this decision before buying into Aion, Fallen Earth and Champions Online. Good games, but I just don't know the people there I know in the games I've kept up with, so my interest in them is pretty temporary. As I say, game play only goes so far. It's the people that keep me coming back. And paying $15 a month for what I treat as a largely single player game is not financially sound.
  16. *hops into the middle of a donut and starts to nom her way out*

Wait a minute.. Something's not quite right here...

    *shrugs and keeps nomming.

Hi everybody! Warm weather for you Rook? Not around here, that's for sure *shivers* Or did you just come back from vacation? Lucky bird...
  17. MUAHAHAHAHA!

Now, if you don't want those pictures plastered all over the internet, you must pay us....

Oh heck, we're gonna post them anyway. Release the pictures!
  18. *acks and rolls end over end with Fedor, winding up in a cartoon fighting cloud. When the cloud clears, Fedor is left wearing a latex maid's outfit*
  19. But, are you wearing a latex maid's outfit is the question. Inquiring minds want to know.
  20. *stops the tussle long enough to awww at the cute sleeping kitties, then goes back to the play fight with a pounce*

    RAR!
  21. *pounces on the sneaking Fedor and begins a rather squeaky tussle*

You're not getting away that easily!
  22. I like the idea, and I am interested in joining. I have my own Steampunk inventor who has been sitting idle waiting for Going Rogue to show it's head. Her background is different, but it's easy enough to adapt. And she has to go from villain to hero side anyway, so I have to reroll her. Not that it is a large deal, since I think I got to level 4 or 5 with her.

Some small thoughts. I would suggest the 'Brass Lion Society' or something similar for a name. Victorian sensibilities often lead to grandiose sounding names.

As for thoughts of 'why don't they just rebuild using modern technology?' Well, the group originally comes from another dimension/timeline in which technology that existed in our dimension at the time works at a far greater efficiency than it ever did for us, rivaling modern technology in some cases. First a matter of pride would cause the refugees to seek out steampunk solutions to their problems, but eventually someone would try to use a modern turbine on a steam engine, or hook a laptop into the ship's Difference Engine. And supposing the laws of physics in each universe were slightly different. Close enough to exist side by side without problem, but when you try to interface them together, the differences resonate an amplify, causing the devices to fail spectacularly, perhaps even explosively.
  23. *ties the tire to a tree and gets ready to make a high speed tire swing*
  24. *stops the tire and peers inside*

Catnip? This better not be a trick...
