sounds cool, i'll be up for it
though saturdays are a no-go for me (unless its like after 8 or 9 pm GMT)

well I lead it once.. coordination was pretty good, with only a few ppl not listenin and **** things up etc.. but you'll have those every raid. Failed on not having enough numbers.
TS is nice, but not needed, I didnt use mine, just asked every leader to pm me with their team (AT) details, I wrote em down and thus based my planning on that. PMed specific leaders if needed and just use request for the delaying of orders to everyone (and trust on your teamleaders to do the same). During disco's raid (with the lack of disco being there) we used a global channel where all the teamleaders and other important people were invited to.
PS. what raid did you organize? tbh I only know the first-ever raid, jersey's raid, electro-mag's raid, my raid and disco's raid.. then again, booze may affect my already faulty memory -
nooo! not the DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!! posts
we're all DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMed now -

I looked up the specs...
23 missions, Devouring Earth is our enemy.
Jurasik (Dev.Earth AV) as final.
So it's gonna be long and hard. Empaths (def/con doesn't matter) would be nice. Stock some Break Free's before you join.
Star Jewel will be there to EX, SK and blast the hell out of those DE's.

imo it actually is the fastest TF out there.. (not counting respec or trials)
iirc first mish is freaks, second crey, third nemesis, 4th a delivery to azuria, 5th CoT mish in perez.. then alot of hunt 10 x in y. Best for this part is to spread out as most enemy types can easily be soloed, thus making sure you complete this part fast.
What I always did is 1 in each zone, the 1 in skyway does both skyway and faultline. 2 people for both brickstown and creys. 1 in TV, 1 in IP and the one of TV helps out the one in IP if he aint done yet. After DA all group up in founders to do the founders and eden hunt as whole team seeing last 2 mishes are in eden. Of course, seeing you cycle around your team, once you got someone covering DA, everybody that finishes before him/her can already go to founders to group up. -
you are SO asking for a /petition if you keep making sense! I'm sure theres something in the EULA that forbids making sense

well i understand that, but what i mean is why cant they make it like this: keep all powers you have gained leveling up but in strength u be examped to 30.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not fair at all, think of the epics and the "ultimate" powers. As said before, you get the stone tanks with granite, the singularities, elude, nukes (maybe not effective in pvp, but still) etc etc. A player which has no access to an equal lvl defensive power will stand no chance whatsoever.
Also how do you think "at the strength of a lvl 30" will work? Take away all the enhances they gained after lvl 30? After all, people already have an advantage at the higher lvls because they are slotted to the max with enhances. As you said before, respec to get some powers at earlier lvls.. thats what those things are for.
[ QUOTE ]
or... what i would love 2 see is a lvl 50 full power pvp zone only for mature lvl 50 toons so we can use all our powers in pvp....

coming in issue #7 (afaik) called Recluse's Victory

its verry frustrating to have a adult toon and get smashed back in pvp to lvl 30, missin powers u are used to fight with...
[/ QUOTE ]
like I said, go to a higher lvl pvp zone (like warburg) if you dont like it. After all, with your suggestion, lower lvl players will have no chance at all.
[/ QUOTE ]i cant enter striga if im still not lvl 20,so why not make the pvp like that.... and keep the powers u gained so far.
[/ QUOTE ]
obviously you havent pvped much then.. minimum lvl to enter bloody bay is 15 - exemped to 25 -, minimum lvl to enter sirens is 20 - exemped to 30 - and minimum lvl to enter warburg is 30 - exemped to 38- , voila, lvl cap introduced. However I still have to emphasize that your system still aint fair, seeing a 15 can enter bloody bay (as I said before), having only 9 powers, vs a 50 which has 26 (iirc) powers. Yup, really fair, sorry mate, didnt see your point there, indeed gives both parties an equal chance. Add to that that 15s have NO way of being fully slotted with SOs (mainly because there are no lvl 18 SOs you can buy). If you still fail to grasp the immense disadvantage the lvl 15 will be in, I dont know what will. Would this system actually be implemented, then I expect the PvP zones will be real empty real soon as all the lower lvls dont dare to go there because they'll get ganked by the higher lvls. These weight classes are to ensure everybody stands at least a chance, even if its a small one.
[ QUOTE ]
i can sure take on a 36 with my 34, depends on the powers i use.
cause now i miss powers i gained but a player that enters pvp with a lvl 50 toon has a big slotting advantage...
[/ QUOTE ]
There you undermine your whole theory. You say higher lvls already have an advantage because of the slotting. If they have a slotting advantage AND a power advantage, that would unbalance it even further would it not? Tell me, do you think your 34 can beat a 50 with power AND slotting advantage? You already admit you lose in the amount of slotting, well you also lose in the amount of powers available.
Would feel sorry for all those low lvl people in BB/sirens that would get ganked if I take my 50 for a spin there with all my powers. All those temps, all those accolades and of course the psionic mastery epic and force bubble so they cant even reach me and get ripped to shreds by psi attacks.. Yup, sounds fair to me.
PS. apologies in advance if this post is considered a flame rather than a little rant, as it is not directed at the person but more at his suggestion. -

So do you. How often have you heard someone described as a 'n00b' because they don't like being ganked, or dislike the idea of being ganged up on, or they don't like hearing totally OTT abuse levelled at themselves or other players.
Tainted, you can justify the use of the term as much as you like, but 'n00b' is a term of abuse and it gets way too much applied to too many people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wingy i dont disagree to what you say. I didnt say people dont use it as abuse and i have personally have fallen occasionally into the loop of calling someone like this just because of the abuse being spammed around...However i dont justify it i just say in which mentallity each one applies originally. At no point its justified and even occasions i have personally used the term cause someone drove me to my utter limit i have regret it afterwards. however there are certain cases that the term more than applies. Still what u say i agree, people many times use it for all the wrong reasons and mainly as a derogatory term.

I fear people are starting to take a game waaaaay too seriously...
People really need to start lightening up, like TG here. Each day i read these boards, one person is having a go at another person for what they deem to be "A personal attck" or somesuch. The reason i don't have any examples is because i don't read it, and frankly it bores the hell out of me.
The only reason if felt like piping up is because i speak to TG all the time, and he is a tremendously sound guy, who i know would never hold a personal grudge against someone of purposefully belittle or degrade them.
With that said and out of the way, maybe people should start seeing this for what it is again... A damn game! It's there to be played and enjoyed, so stop having a go at each other and log on to have fun. And let's just hope people haven't forgotten what that is...

well said matehave some shiny stars..
PS. what is this 'fun' you are talking about? Is it a nerf? Is it a GM? If so, what server is it on? Must have the badge!! ZOMG!!1!oneoneelevityone!1! -
hm... dont set a date unless you're leading it I'd say
Anyway, IF somebody decides to pick it up and wants to organize one, they know I'm always game for one
Yet I doubt you'll get far with just a date and no organizers -

[ QUOTE ]
but why do we get tossed back to lvl 30 ? im a 34 now and wen i go sirens call i lose my dull pain because of that!
[/ QUOTE ]
think of it as weight classes.. its just to make it a bit fairer by letting people have an equal amount of powers to use. Of course higher lvls still have the slotting advantage. It wouldnt exactly be fair if you wouldnt get exemped to a certain lvl.
Imagine some new villain, just hit 15 and want a test run in bloody bay. He stays lvl 15 and in the meantime a lvl 50 hero thinks he'll have some fun in PvP as well. So, he too, goes to bloody bay. Well, call me crazy but I doubt a 50 vs a 15 really is a good fight is it?
Hence you all get sked/exemped to the same lvl so you dont have lvl differences, power/hp wise. The higher lvl will still have more slots and so his moves are still more powerful. However with this setup the weaker one still has a chance to fight back. If you still wanna have dull pain, go to warburg where you got kicked to 38. -
well thats the same as most of us have said already. You're right, pvp aint about 1v1. However, the reason we do not discuss team builds atm, is because there are so many factors that influence it, it's hard to give any concrete conclusions.
For instance, when I pvp with my tank, I rarely go solo. I know I can take most blows, but I have a hard time hitting the villains until i get some more enhances on my attacks. On the other hand, I team alot with an empath and a kinetic on my team. The empath will give me fortitude for that extra bit of def, and allowing me to hit cause of the +acc/dmg. The kinetic will just boost my damage and use Increase Density to prevent me being TPed away. Basically with their buffs, im turned into an untouchable, lean mean killing machine
With all these things to complement each other and PvP being a big rock-paper-scissors game. I still stand with my point that skill is a more important factor than build. Of course build is still a factor, seeing between 2 equally good players, the better build wins. For instance if I meet a rad corrupter with my tank, im kinda screwed over cause of the def debuffs. Though if he is fairly new to the pvp game, he's in for a hard time anyway -
basically its (afaik):
newbie - someone new to the game, tryin to understand the mechanics of it all
n00b - someone, may or may not be new to the game, not willing to adapt to/understand the game at all. (still looking for proper wording so dont pin me down on this, being a non-english person)
However, n00b is now just generally used as an insult. In fact its been used so much that I dont really take notice of it anymore. Anybody that seriously calls people "n00bs" is a "n00b" himself imo. -
true, when you go PvPing in a hotspot, expect to get debt. If you dont want possible debt, fight outside the hotspots. However, I do think its bad courtesy if you on purpose tp somebody in a big mob, hold him and just walk away hoping they get debt. IIRC, this is also called griefing in the book of rednames.
When you have a normal fight in the hotspots and you die cause of a NPC getting the killer blow rather than a player, well thats just the risk of fighting there. The devs also let that know to the playerbase when they released I6/CoV. -
hm, must admit you got a point, well 2 actually, there. The fact that people have different rules.. well thats mainly the issue in this thread now is it? I, myself, dont do hospital camping nor do I tp into watchtowers as I consider this an act of griefing myself. Whether or not the devs fixed it, thats beside the point for me personally.
Second of all, bout the devs not posting here. Well... kinda get used to it I fear. We are just an "abroad" release. Sure, dont get me wrong, we get alot of info and most important stuff is said here as well as the US boards. However, the US will always be the first to know bout the info. Some 'minor' details like these are likely to skipped on our boards. I agree though, that we shouldnt be forced to check the US boards for this kind of thing. I myself only use the US boards as some form of encyclopedia to check on some numbers or other ingame info.
On a slightly different note.. I saw today the watchtowers in PI where PL-beggers were often TPed into now got a little doorway allowing to enter and exit at will. Might the same be done for those in Sirens? Haven't checked myself yet... -
hm, must say I never had trouble being fully slotted with SOs at 24/25.. then again I almost always skip DOs (unless I get some from drops) and debt is your friend when it comes to making money
-
heh, big grats guys, had some fun teaming with nef with you, till I had to clear all those old arcs and you just flew past me with the lvling
-
[ QUOTE ]
Some people have complained about getting tpd into watch towers as they cannot get out of them without using tp or having someone else tp them out. Now my MA scrapper has no ranged attacks to get people with when they run off as they often do, he has not got enough acc to hit most folk anyway as not PvP slotted yet anyway but thats another matter., so I would view getting tp and tp foe and sitting in a watchtower tping folks to me so that they cannot run away while I try to wail on them a valid tactic as it traps them much the same as using hurricane to trap someone in a phone box, cargo box, etc (has the added bonus of if they cannot get out of there in the first place their best bet is to let me kill them otherwise after Im dead theyll still be trapped but that is another issue) However I am pretty sure if I started using that tactic I would very quickly get shouted at and petitioned by folk.
[/ QUOTE ]
tbh, I dont think your comparison with being hurricaned into a bus stop is a valid one. The big difference is, that if you kill the hurricaner, you can exit. If he would kill you in the fight in the watchtower, he'll still be stuck. Like TG said, it's an exploit and it says pretty clearly in the User Agreement/Rules of Conduct that such exploits are not allowed.
Dunno if hurricaning into a busstop is an equal exploit, but I doubt it. Seeing it IS a power to keep melee people away from you, so you either just keep running around pushing em everywhere, or corner them.
To the people complaining the most bout that hurricaning/forcebubble tactic, I doubt they complain if somebody would use that tactic in PvE. Each of those posts kinda sound like all those anti-stalker posts as well. People are just annoyed they are on the losing side of a battle. -
[ QUOTE ]
you can get into sirens at lvl 20 but as you dont get SO enhancements untill 22 you will be at a disadvantage
[/ QUOTE ]
then again, there still are the advantages in build over other builds, so some enemies you can beat with DO and TO (if you dont know those terms.. they are short for dual origin and training origin enhancements). However in general you are indeed in a disadvantage. My suggestion would be to pvp at 24/25, when you are fully slotted with SO (single origin enhancements). This way you dont lose any power in BB and can fare pretty well in Sirens. However you cant enter warburg until lvl 30 (you get lackey/malefactor to lvl 38). Of course you can also just challenge your friends to a little arena match. Any level will do there -

Too bad he doesnt know what i tank can do

heh you just made me think of nother funny moment.. once there were 2 heroes and 2 vills in Sirens. A scrapper (i think) and me as Duke for the heroes and a stalker (as always...) + MM for the villains.
The stalker kinda gave up on me cause he couldnt down me even if he bribed me. So I think he kept going after the scrapper who was somewhere else in sirens. So that left me and the MM at villain base.
A nice 1 on 1 (well 1 on 7 rather.. but anyway..) you might say? Not by a long shot. After I almost kicked his [censored], he ran to the villain base with all his pets. When he finally reached the base he started to spam broadcast with how uber he is, blabla, that nobody could defeat him etc etc.
So I call to him (whilst standing in the water), I say "well come to the water and we will see who is the best around here". He replies I should get him, while he is safely in his base, on the far east side near the drones. Well after a while he just sends his pets at me while he himself is dronehugging. I did what every normal player would do, move out of reach so he has to leave his precious drones.
However the MM then just started taunting and smacktalking, saying im a coward etc etc. Starts saying that no-one can beat him again, bla bla bla. So again I say "well who's the coward? come here and fight, mano y mano and we see who is truly the best". Reply: "hah, no man can fight me here hahahaha, you are all pussies! Nobody is brave enough to fight me here!!!".
Upon this, I just move a bit to the west. The MM, standing on the wall surrounding the base follows me, therefore leaving his precious drones, and only guarded by normal turrets. Once more I ask him "brave enough to fight me outside your base?" upon which I got the reply "hah! you'll just run again! you're such a coward!! be a man and fight me hahaha, but you know I am so good I will kick your [censored]! You know why? cause im so good and no man is brave enough to fight me here!".
Poor guy... thought I'd show him a thing or 2 how nasty tanks can be. Just jumped straight at him, in his own precious base. Had some mobs shooting at me which I just used to activate energy absorption for even more defense. He started running like hell to his precious drones again, but this time I cut him short with air sup + ice patch + freezing touch. So I just proceeded to lay a smackdown on him
At least the guy didnt have to walk far from the hospital... however he left as soon as he rezzed -
If I'm around, count in Ice Duke, 31 ice/ice tank

@ravenswing: it indeed was in CoH I got these blind invites and following insults, was playin my WS at the time, just soloin a bit till 45, he was, I dunno.. 7/8 lvls iirc lower than me so it kinda struck me odd he got abusive and all. Might be me puttin people in boxes, but that kind of behaviour kinda struck me as someone that had a bad day cause there was no Dreck.
Bout the CoC.. everybody having their own ethics aint necessary a bad thing. Must admit my own "policies" sometimes differ from the common view. For instance I sometimes defend nerfs if they get attacked for the wrong reasons. However, there should be SOME boundaries set. Even though as TG said we all have our different behaviors and its hard to follow rules not set by the Devs, I think there are certain points we DO all agree on.
For one thing, I doubt some here will actually defend tping people in mobs just to let em get killed by mobs and gain debt. Think we all agree on that that it's griefing.
And @kara, any smacktalk thats done that aint lighthearted banter, I always regard the one that engages in such smacktalk as a moron. Like I said for instance the one that spammed me with insulting tells after I declined his invites, is considered by me as some idiot that just PLs his way to 50 and think anybody that plays the game not PLing is a n00b etc etc. On the other hand, ask for instance jiaozy or thePhilosopher or any frequent visitor of the union badgehunters channel.. I do like having some lighthearted banter againt people I know, which I think should be possible. -
[ QUOTE ]
But, you know, im getting tired reading things like "its not the build its the player" - "everybody has a chance" etc. Of course, I suspect you do not see the hypocrisy.
[/ QUOTE ]
read a bit between the lines there mate.. its not all player or all build. What the point is, is that even bad builds CAN be good in pvp, if you got a good pvper. Its what mr statesman calls "balancing".. which as we all know doesnt really shine in PvE, but in PvP where its all a game of rock-paper-scissors, any build can be good.
Of course there are still better builds than others, and if the 2 people/teams with equally good PvP experience battle each other, the one with a better build/builds wins.
There are just 4 distinctive cases:
bad pvper + bad build (bp/bb)
good pvper + bad build (gp/bb)
bad pvper + good build (bp/gb)
good pvper + good build (gp/gb)
In my opinion from what I've seen thusfar in the pvp zones its:
gp/gb > gp/bb > bp/gp > bp/bb
Of course this is my personal opinion, as I seen good builds being creamed by "bad" builds but whom I know as good pvpers.
So if you read a bit between the lines we dont say its ALL about the player and NOTHING about the build, you got it wrong. Its just a bit of a gray area, where both build AND skill affect the victor of a match. -
aye, pvp can bring the worst out of people, and even though I enjoy some banter from times, this is just plain idiocy and often causes me to just leave the zone as I don't feel like playing with people with a brain the size of a peanut.
However, these things (alas) happen in PvE as well, especially in CoV I noticed. Seems people think that playing a villain is an excuse to become a total tool. Happened to me I got spammed by insulting tells after I declined 3 blind invites from the same guy and then sent a tell that if I declined the first time it's not likely that I will accept nr 2, 3, 4... and asked him if he could stop sending those invites. Immediate reply: "shut up u n00b!" and "y r u retarted or something?!?!".
Also happened to me when I saw someone, maybe not meant insulting, use some "bad" words on broadcast and pointed out to him he'd better be careful cause it's bound to get petitioned one day. And again get insults flung at me.
Point im trying to make is, there are some real morons in this game. Try to ignore them and if its in a PvP zone, just utterly own them!
Ah.. the good times of utterly smashing a stalker all around sirens after he started insulting everybody he met.. he left shortly after
