Quote:even if they went with the standard 6 pets i would still be interested in playing an earth themed set, plant themed set, ect, would add a lot of varietyOnly issue with this is AT performance balance. Part of the 'challenge' for MM's is the micromanaging of the 6 pets. Keeping them together, on target, deciding which to heal 1st etc.

While it'd be cool to have one animated stone, then it upgrades over time to a giant rock golem by your side, it removes an intended handicap built into the AT. While also making one primary much easier to use than the others, since you'd only have 1 pet to watch/control.

Quote:i agree with most of this, the rating system it was designed with sort of reinforced the "never good enough" mentalityI'm sure the lack of enthusiasm among the player base for AE missions has nothing to do with the impossibly high standards some people set for AE missions early on, where actual story arcs were getting 2- and 3-starred for not being awesomely written enough, causing them to not get any plays (heck even 4-starring an arc was/is a death sentence in general) and thus not creating a positive feedback cycle where someone would want to continue sinking time into continually improving old and creating new AE mission content.

i feel most everyone either thinks the work that they did was a masterpiece then they got a bad rating and if feedback was left then the author would just arbitrarily 1 star other poeples arcs out of spite

i look forward to this GM encounter that actually feels like a real GM encounter (all of the current GMs are sort of...lacking)
-
	i personally havent noticed anything

as for your problem with falling indefinitely, you need a fly type power (pool or temp) so that you are stationary for the tp to not be interrupted

alternate solution is to self destruct and go to the hosp
-
to help determine that it is shard, i purposely let my toons salvage remain full (since salvage is fairly cheap overall i just buy what i need)

if your salvage is full and you see a message can guarentee that it is a shard message

Quote:i think the only reason a farm would not become a DC would be that a dev has to make it so, and if they did that then players would go "oh the devs must love farming" and the problem would just get exponentially worse for AEPersonally, I'd PM each and every screenshot of those to, oh, Positron and Aeon. Then again, I don't get plays - mine are buried under so many farms (live and dead) and so old they'll never see the light of day again. Seriously, farms should never be in the HoF. I'm just waiting for one to become DC.

Admittedly my cynical and annoyed self doesn't expect them to get the point, since, well, AE isn't the new shiny any more, but still.

due to coding restrictions very doubtful, one of the main reasons we prolly wont get a full powerset or AT respec is because of how its coded, and switching ATs or even powersets on a dual build is along the same lines

from what ive heard of the underground trial, it sounds very fun, regening baddies is manageable, unresistable autohit dmg pulse are not manageable except being healorz or popping dozens of trays of greens
-
Quote:aside from the tediousness of the trial this is what i have the biggest problems with tooTwo changes would have to happen for me to touch Keyes.

 1. The pulse has to go. Period. That's not "challenge", it's fake difficulty - making the game arbitrarily hard by adding the biggest DoT effect in any MMO on the market. This leads to a lot of RNG deaths when coupled with all the other damage effects flying around throughout the trial, which go directly against any concept of "fun".

 2. The timefreeze and Keyes' other gimmicks need to lock each other out. Again, RNG deaths and no fun to be had. The number of mechanics in the fight is fine, IMO, but randomly screwing people out of badges and whatnot by combining them in unsurvivable chains is anything but.

Quote:will only show all alignments if you are in a co op zoneOk yet another question:

In the LFG finder, what do the color of the names dictate? I see there are yellow, purple, and orange names. What do these mean?

Also will the finder show ALL people regardless of alignment?

heres the info from the wiki:
 Quote:Search Results
Hitting the "Search" button will display a list of all visible characters that match the currently specified criteria. Each result returned by the search will indicate the character's team preference, security or threat level, archetype, origin, name, current location, and search comment. With issue 18, names are colour-coded to indicate status:

Jade green: Same team as you

Red: They have 'not looking for group' set

Yellow: They can't be invited to team with you because they're on a mission map or in an arena match

Orange: They're the opposite faction to you and not on a mixed team, so you have to go to their map to team with them

Violet: They're the leader of a team with less than 8 people on it

Pale blue: They're not on a team and you can invite them

Green/grey: They're on a team but not the leader, so you can't invite them and they can't invite you

hmm, if you were going for a pure natural themed toon you cuold use brawl and power pool powers such as jump kick, air superiority, and fighting pool attacks for when you have no temps

 sounds very interesting though

Quote:with the way you put it, if they made the time between pulses longer they could always add in more mobs, this trial is so sparse with mobs its already trvially easy if you have a toon with a fast charging self heal and some invisJust ran a Bunker Buster/Avoid Green Stuff attempt on Pinnacle (we got Buster).

Trial starts out fun, great opening monologue and has a brisk pace but really breaks down around the third time you have to clear a reactor; if you didn't have to drag Anti-Matter around for two reactors it might be a little more palatable. The pulse gets old after the first few minutes as well, not sure how you can allay that without lowering the pulse damage or adding a little more time between pulses without making the encounter more trivial.

Overall it is fun, just seems a lot more tedious than the other two and a lot more work than the other two as well.

to "temporarily" remove the pack just switch to a costume slot in which was saved before you made the crab, and you will not have the pack

this will go away upon zoning however

the rebirth power that adds +max hp AND do a heal counts for heal credit

Quote:the underground trial will be worth 2 emps as well for a max of 6 per dayCome I21, you'll be able to earn 5 Empyrean merits a day as well (2 for Keyes and 1 for the other three trials that will be live then). Since that Shield Wall costs 60 Empyrean merits you could theoretically get it in 12 days. Even if you just do a BAF and Lambda each day, that's 2 Empyrean merits, which means you can get enough to buy the Shield Wall in a month.

And at the same time you'll earn enough Astral Merits to get 8 or 9 LotG: +Recharges, which you could sell to help finance the purchase of PvP recipes off the market.

and in any case its still WAY too much grinding for a single IO when i can get LOTGs or miracles with only 2 alignment merits which can be done almost once a week on a single toon
-
Quote:yeah, single IO isnt too long and prolly about 1-2 months depending on how much you are into the tip mishsI assume you're talking about multiple IO purchases. The minimum number of days it takes to get 30 a-merits (and some PvP IOs cost 35 merits, I know) is 20, if you're converting 50 regular merits a day and running 5 tip missions. (I've done this 4 times since January.)

Realistically if you need a Glad Armor proc, you can get one in 20 days. And if you need anything else, you can get a Glad Armor proc in 20 days and sell it off-market to finance your other purchases.

i was assuming for a full set or more

Quote:the reason i bring up listen is because even with a group of poeple i know ive seen that happen dozens of times where poeple werent paying attention or missed something because this trial is information overload, its not always someone not paying attention (could be lag or whatever) but thats usually the reasonBefore every trial (Lam, BAF, or Keyes), we shout out in league and tell everyone to tag F7. If they don't, and won't listen when someone tells them how to add League chat to their tab, they get booted and replaced (or sometimes not replaced).

This is an incarnate trial for level 50 players. If you can't listen to a leader on the most basic of tasks, you have no business being on my team.

I mention it because it's been the Achilles heel to many of our 'Loves a Challenge' attempts. I've seen it happen a bunch of times where the disentegrated target keeps running away from the healer of the opposite entanglement but the healer persists and gets the guy killed. I would love to see this go, it adds unnecessary complication to an already overpowered attack.

I bring it up because the hold animation is (at least pretty sure it is) the same animation as the 'Freeze Time' hold animation (This should REALLY be changed!). I get stuck in Oblit from this hold far more often than because of an actual Freeze Time.

Oh the pulse definitely sucks. I like the suggestion upthread where it's based on base threat level instead of x% across the board. I was just mentioning that the Vicks kill me more often than the pulse does - they can almost one shot me as a scrapper (and then the pulse would finish me off regardless of how much damage it does).

Maybe the Oblit ray is easier for me to see because I'm playing low graphics? I only had a problem when rebirths are done at the same time. When running badges we asked that everyone change their color schemes to be not green and that helped others a ton (this obviously is a design flaw)

Would be nice to see entanglements get tossed, they are generally ignored and rarely does anything bad happen.

the only melee toon ive run on this is my stone brute since he has a self heal (dark melee), without inspirations i wouldnt last long vs the vikkies either but it was usually the pulse that did more dmg to me than anything (i never noticed the hold portion of atomic blast because my stone brute with rooted has like mag 20 protection, but in that trial i almost never had rooted on because of all the running around it required

Quote:the 10 minute timer is for if you got actually got a dropSo it's only if you haven't gotten a PVP IO within the last 10 minutes and there wasn't one awarded in the last 5 minutes?

the 5 min is for the defeat list rep timer (you can get a drop multiple times if you kill several poeple all at once)

rep valid kills just mean that you are not on the opposing persons defeat list and they are not on your defeat list, basically if you got rep for the fight, you had a chance for pvp IO drop (in the arena since it does not have rep, just go by the defeat list)
-
Quote:they are tied to rep tooOnly place I could find it was in the April 8, 2009 patch notes.

"Once a PVP IO recipe has been earned, there is a 10 minute timer before the player that earned the recipe can have a chance at earning another recipe."

PvP IOs need a page explaining them in general, not just the category list page. Trouble is there is so little actual data on them and so much misinformation on them. I thought they were tied to PvP rep myself, which is why I said 5 minutes.

you only get a chance for drop on rep valid kills AND have not gotten a pvp IO within the last 10 minutes

Quote:i concur wit hthe above, there is no wiki info except the names and set bonuses of pvp IOsSo where is this info in the wiki. I've looked for it before and couldn't find it.

Quote:it would still be a lot of recoding to change all of the conflicted options to automatically use global nameTells would have to use global names only, and /getglobalname would probably need a target to work (like /info), etc.

not saying it wouldnt be a good thing to do that, but its prolly enough work that its not high priority
-
Quote:if your sending a tell to the player, who does the tell go to if the names are the same? what would the return be if you did a /getglobalname on someone who has same name?I just wish they'd do away with the current naming conventions and go with an open naming policy. Let our global handle be our unique identifier... let us use the name we want for our character. So what if someone else has the same name?

just using a global name is not enough and there are too many conflicts with poeple having the same name on the same server
-
Quote:10 min for poeple on defeat list, and either 5 or 10 min after you get a dropSo there's a 5 minute wait timer between drops or kills globally?

with freedom coming just make a ton of free accounts and get the toons in BB lvl range then take your lvl 50 and just kill your alt accounts, then just log a new one in after the other one dies, when you get a drop can take those few min to make sure your alts are out of the hosp if they need be (best done with toons that have a self rez)
