Another thing, what is the criterion for the ranking of the list? Zone or duels?
Zone, I would put blaster/stalker as tied at the top. -
I'm guessing its between the mind/thorn (or mind/elec if ya want) and the fire/elec. The mind will be a little better at disruption though with confuse. The fire/elec would do the most damage which is great for fighting scraps and tanks. You could go either way, but a blaster will be your main threat so I'm going to say the mind/thorns.

Personally, I like stamina cuz I'm lazy. I'm a lazy stalker. Yes I could go without stamina and slot the miracle and numina globals, but then I would need to be more careful with one of my travel powers (toggle one of SS or SJ), that is, MORE careful than I already am.
A WP stalker has a little defense (nothing to write home about) and little res (again, nothing to write home about), but +perc and pro from repel. It also has a heal and easy to cap hp. That's all you need the set for. Really, your main defense is your stealth, phase/hiber, and the one shot recon.
My spine/wp stalk has ss, sj, stealth, and fitness with mako. Easy zone mode. I have a tweak that exchanges fitness for leadership, but I'm afraid to try it. Besides, too lazy to re-up my alt so I can transfer and have had bad experience with 'tweaking' a build that already works well.
Personally, again, get fitness. After a while, get leadership and try that out. -

As far as pvp goes, I think your choice of primaries is going to depend on your choice of targets.
elec/em are good for harder targets (scraps and tanks)
spines are good for squishier targets (blasters, defs and controllers)
Now, not saying you can't use one to fight the other, just gonna be a little tougher. Your PPP choice is going to add a little flavor to the build.
Leviathan for more ranged and hibernate (again, good for fighting squishies)
Soul for survivability (shadowmeld)
However, both those patrons are 'me me me'. You could go mace which is very helpful for a team. I think all vil PPP's have access to -jump except Doms (interesting).
One more tidbit, zones, dueling, arena(kb) are all slightly different though I would say that zone and arena(kb) are more similar these days.
For zones, I like dot and ranged. Dot will help get you more kills. So spines and leviathan are the way to go. (Eventually, zones will clear of hero squishies leaving tanks and regen scrappers. It will be slim pickens for kills at that point.) This is where EM or Ele would be a bit better.
Remember though, after AS, you just a scrapper with less hit points so getting AS in should be priority #1.
For dueling, I like Ela with a high recharge on placate. -
Dark/rad would be OK in the zone if the villains have the advantage. Otherwise, your gonna have a tough time but I could say that for most squishies.
In duels (arena), be sure play with HD off, then drain life will be useful. -
Had this happen to me, logged out and back in. Was fixed.

Uh, don't want to hijack, but this is similar. What about for /thermal? Specifically Zombie/thermal. Thinking the shield would be OK and the PB'd heals would be nice. Having some pvp in mind.

a tanker says 'Wow, it took three stalker AS's to kill me!'
LOL, seriously, your a tanker! Aren't ya supposed to be hard to kill? Now if you want more survivability, roll a regen scrapper. -
Maybe downgrade energy blast. There seems to be a lot of knockback IOs on the market these days...

Wouldn't it be awesome if shadowmeld auto hid you?

Quote:I don't know, maybe cause (personally now), I don't like to carry greens or blues. I like to battle to the brink of death or fatigue and hiber is the easy way out. For a spine/wp, hiber and phase are just two extra power choices in necessary power pools anyways.Someone needs to further explain to me in detail why I would even want more than phase on a stalker. If I wanted to stand around as long as hiber takes to heal I'd just hide and then press rest. (Rest: Regeneration +19, Hiber Regeneration +10, yep 2x's as fast to full health by resting) I've died all of 1 or 2 times ever from someone going into phase and trying to phase kill me. (Invis and Shadow Meld are your best friends) In fact, you're better off phasing and popping a few greens for survival purposes vs hiber in case a long animation attack is still incoming prior to you pressing phase/hiber. (I've killed countless people with impale due to this as they try and drop to hiber) On many occasions I've had the pleasure of hiber camping a blaster, phasing, and killing them as they bust out of hiber and phase. (the users of this strategy are pretty easy to remember) With that in mind I'd hardly say itÂ’s a 100% guaranteed getaway. Since any good stalker will always be taking Stealth and Invis, please enlighten me as to why I should waste a valuable power slot on hiber. Outside of concern for the super rare phase kill, I'm at a loss.
I guess I could drop hiber for shadowmeld, but then I would be loosing sharks. Even with impale (which has a sucky range btw), I feel like a need more ranged damage. Also, spirit shark jaws is -fly. For kicks, I guess I could have switched waterspout with hiber, but waterspout is a shell of what it used to be and is now very very situational.
Man, in the old days waterspout vs pff toon = lovely. Or waterspout versus fire/ tanks = LOLS. Those days are LONG gone. /end tangent
Also, if you do choose to go the popping route, your spending time out of the zone which is less time then killing squishies or kill stealing which is what a sharking spine stalker is all about. Also (zone again), heal decay is a bish especially after hitting recon and you are still being hit (especially from those nasty earth/ta controllers). -
I like energy/pain. Once you get soothing aura, combined with the knockback of energy, you'll gonna be a mini tank (as long as you can keep knocking stuff back).

I would like to see the corrs get the blaster version except with scramble thoughts exchanged with Confuse!

I gots to say!!!
Who gives a good gad damn??!!1! -
As far as /whoall cutting through hide, maybe they should post pvp zone populations somewhere in game.

Phase + slotted super speed/leaping + sharks + hide = dead running def/con/blaster
About 1 and 5 kills is a phasekill for me. So many times I hear the telltale phase sound on somebody who is near death. Best if they stand still and think they are OK (happens sometimes believe it or not, maybe they trying an aid self?), then you can AS them. Most of them run for the base. In that case, you wait for hide/build-up while chasing them and shark'em. That's why your travel powers need to be slotted.
Impale doesn't have the range for this (mine even has 3 dam/range HO's), but if you do manage to impale them, there's an additional slow/immob for more attacks.
You know, TP is still the fastest travel power and great for catching runners (on my corr), wish it didn't suppress when hit. -
If someone trash talks you, your doing something right.
As far as teams, half call targets, half don't. Of the half that don't, half od those, target calling is implicit. But the other half is just, well, lets group together and try to kill more stuff.
My stalker got on a team the other night with mostly doms and a corr. Was lovely, nobody called much, but they didn't have to. I just looked for the held or knockdown guys and AS. Sharked/impaled when they started to run. Got mucho kills. -
Quote:Invis is almost a second phase if you have super speed. Invis, run for the hills (I like running around that center building in RV, no line of sight, no attacks = back in hide).I have invisibility instead of GI and i also have SoW.
I haven't got ripper or tro spines but only because you don't need any more attacks than AS, Impale and Sharks. When i said nothing else is worth taking, i didn't mean nothing else was good. Just that in my opinion, why take more attacks than you need to get the job done when you can improve survivability even more.
As for ripper, good attack but you really don't need it. So I agree with the above. The only situation where I used lunge was when FC'ing an elec scrap(I know, but was bored). He was using aid self for more heal so I would lunge, shark, jaws and impale to keep the dots on. It actually worked.
I think the only time ripper and SOW are in a build is if ya have monies for the recovery IOs. Even then, giving up stamina is a hard pill to take. I run around sharking and impaling and AS'sing so much, I actually have to stop and detoggle some after a few minutes. -
That would be a pipe dream and a little OP. Now if slows did something in pvp...
