  1. "War Mace / Energy Aura huh"

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAstrong AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAprettyAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAHHHH...
  2. Getting Mez'd on my Blaster sucks.

    Now to get off topic...

Arcanaville I just noticed the Misfile link in your sig:
"In one little corner of the universe, there's nothing more irritating than a misfile..."

...And it makes me happy. I read a lot of webcomics now and the number keeps growing, but Misfile and Girly were my firsts... I'm still sad Girly ended after such an amazing run, but the archive isn't too massive to crawl through again.

    Back on topic...

I don't like getting Mez'd on my Blaster. Here I am being a boss and doing all my AoEs, then I have to stop cus the enemy politely asked me to stop with a single Dominate, and I said "OKAY BRO, ITS COOL I DIDN'T WANT TO USE THAT FIREBALL ANYWAYS, I JUST POPPED BUILD UP AND AIM CUS THEY LOOK COOL MAN" I want to rain death and despair upon my enemies with no interruptions, also make me do more damage, and make me tougher, kthx.
  3. In a nice cheap ATO set for my favorite Archetype and 4 of my lv50s, 5/6 of the set are easy to obtain but someone bought all the procs off the market. Nothing like being unable to complete your new sets and your favorite toons because there's 30 of everything but 0 of the proc. Time to play other lv50s.
  4. If you don't mind weapon sets, Claws, War Mace, and Titan Weapons are all great sets for differing reasons, but Claws has 3 AoEs, one of which (Spin) is impossibly overpowered. War Mace has 3 AoEs and Titan Weapons has 3 and a half AoEs (lol Defensive Sweep) so you can choose to not pick SS but still have not only many powerset options, but many COSTUME options as well. Weapon customization is a big deal to a costumer like me. If you hate redraw of any kind, Dark Melee, Stone Melee, and Fire Melee are all great sets as well. You may find Perma Soul Drain to be the thing that really does it for you; It DOESN'T crash like Rage, and it doesn't require constant active management like Follow Up, Blinding Feint, and Power Siphon. The disadvantage is of course that Soul Drain is only at peak effectiveness when fully saturated with mobs, but in conventional gameplay you'll find that's not a problem.
  5. MA losing it's sole AoE is slightly heart breaking, but I still love my MA Stalker for the insane single target dps potential of Storm Kick. Where I would have taken Dragon's Tail, I instead took Spring Attack. The pool attack is NOT anywhere near close to a proper PbAoE in a primary, but it still gives me the ability to supply some AoE damage at lower levels when relying on an epic AoE like Fireball and your Judgement power isn't an option.

It's a MA / Energy Aura Stalker, and I've received nothing but buffs since I made it. First they buffed MA and gave Cobra Strike real damage instead of brawl damage. Then they buffed and revamped Energy Aura for me, I said ty kthxbai. Now they're buffing Stalkers in general. If Stalkers still aren't up to par in teams all I have to do is wait for next issue when more inevitable buffs will befall this toon, because she gets buffs thrown at her every issue it seems.

    Attack Chain

I think he mainly uses Styg early to regain Health lost from non-mezzed enemies that hit him before he jumped in, the Endurance being a side effect. I personally wonder how much Health he can possibly lose if he has Eclipse up and likely only three or four enemies (most of them bosses) would be unstunned after the Emanation to even hit him. I guess better safe than sorry, might as well Styg as much as you can, except you CAN'T that early in the fight anyways because nothing would be dead yet. I'm so confused...
  7. Do you use keybinds at all for your heals. One thing that many of my friends and I did was set up a lot of heal other keybinds on our Empaths for every day use in TFs and such. Unfortunately, I-Trials simply add too many people to convinientely map to the number pad like an 8 person team, and I have to not only deal with the clunky league window, but ALSO revert to a less efficient clicky method of healing...

    NO THANKS.

I ignore the health of my League mates (besides spamming AoEs near them) and simply focus on my Team in the League. If the leader doesn't put me on a team or on a small team, I make it known that I should be on a full team where I can contribute with the efficiency I am used to.

Oddly enough: if everyone who posted a build made their character and then roll'd an 8-man team. It would most likely be the best team ever.
Yeah we'd knock Marauder down. It's not even that big a deal, it's easy to knock him down. You guys just arent doin it rite...
  9. Howl is a nice power for sure, don't get me wrong. Screech is really killer though, it's effect as the best debuffer AND the mez of the set make it really ideal as the first attack in a chain, especially when trying to take out a pesky enemy like a (67949548975HP Healing Immunes Surgeon) on an ITF. Screech shuts them up and sets up the Shrieking and-a Screamin, then their head asplode. Similarly it's a great opener in your attacks on unsuspected nublets in PvP, which a Therm-Sonic would excel at.
  10. Ice will consistently have more max HP and Icy Bastion is a more widely usable and less crashy T9 than Overload. You may notice that Fire/Cold Resist Bonuses are very common, especially in the generic Purple Set bonus families, so a Fire or Cold hole is the easiest to patch IMO. Most of my toons end up with higher Fire / Cold Resists from focusing on other things and that being a side effect.

But yeah EA is PRETTY AND STRONG AND STRONG AND PRETTY AND god I hate that EA meme.

Santakid, congrats on not only reviving this thread but also getting into the first post edits. If I could make a Gravitostorm / Sonicergy Blastonance Contrender I would. Sadly life is full of difficult choices, and noone can do it all. If we work together, the combined helprassitudes will certainefinitely be able to overcometh the adversidifficultimes that our team faces in their ADVENTURE TIMES.

    What time is it?
  12. I personally don't take snipes as they are now. Anyone who BU/AIMs before using a snipe is indeed wasting too much time of those buffs, compared to what could be accomplished with AoEs and a single target attack chain. Anyone who actually uses a snipe after combat has started is seriously wasting time. I like to think of things in tiers. There't the tier1, and tier2 blasts, usually at level1 and level2. Then most sets have a specific tier3 blast, with some sets like Dark Blast and Elec Blast being kindof oddball. The sniper SHOULD BECOME something we can all agree is the tier4 blast. Absolutely devastating and has the bonus of being much longer range, a power you WANT to use every time it's up like Blaze. But it should still be interruptable and have a recharge befitting of a similar brutal attack, like Seismic Smash. I think 30 seconds would be a good number, so that even godlike Min/Max builds with Ageless wouldn't be able to really make it part of their regular attack chain.
  13. The spasm is just an animation that the enemies can cancel at any time by moving or attacking. The exact same spasm animation occurs when elec melee sleep procs, which is irritating because you have no indication of whether it worked or not.
  14. The forms can feel a it "meh" as you say, on lower end builds where White Dwarf especially has a hard time making an attack chain. But in the high end they aren't terrible, and just last week when Statesman was the WST I found a team of 7 requesting a tank. Rather than get my tanks, I grabbed my Peacebringer because I am a cocky *******. Recluse didn't kill me once, and we didn't have an empath. Granted with incarnates its tough to call any non incarnate content difficult, but there were many on the team who were SURE that Dwarves couldn't possibly tank LR. Well I did.

Nova form with perma Light Form builds is pretty sicknasty too, it is FAR too tough thanks to the improved Light Form and it doesn't really need any more powers to be able to do its job. I'd personally like one more attack for both Novas and both Dwarves if only for variety's sake. Triple proc'd Nova Bolt and double proc'd Ragnarok Nova Blast do make an excellent 1-2-1-2 attack chain but it's arguably pretty damn boring, and Dwarf's attack chain is equally boring.
  15. You should look at the detailed info on the Sonic Blasts. They all stack with themselves and eachother, but the slower heavy hitters have debuffs that last much longer. So it's actually better DPS to lead with Shout than it is to lead with the weak attacks and build up debuffs for Shout, being that Shout's debuff is superior. There's merit to having a real attack chain of Shout -> Shriek -> Scream -> Shriek. This argument is more of a factor on a Defender's 20% res debuffs than it is for a Corr's 15%s, but I would try to max my debuffing potential either way honestly.
  16. There are so many threads that discuss this issue it's almost a meme in CoH culture... but thankfully it hasn't hit the stupid (truly truly stupid) levels that "Strong and Pretty" has. A martial arts / close combat secondary should be first on the list, followed by a secondary WITHOUT melee powers for Blasters who want to play a ranged style without throwing away half their powers.
  17. No problem, regardless of the IN-GAME effectiveness or tankiness of Invuln or WillPower, they are thematically different sets. Invuln was clearly designed with characters like Superman and The Hulk in mind, giving you tons of resistances without a specific themed hole with something supernatural and offputting like Ice Armor. Invuln is for someone who is an unstoppable juggernaut simply because his body is so tough, and not because of something he protects it with like a shield. Willpower was added as a Natural origin based armor set, which didn't really exist besides Super Reflexes and even then it wasn't available to all melee ATs (it is now though). Willpower is supposed to be someone training to the best of their human ability and that's why it's an unfocused set with a little boost to everything, and has graphics options to be very subtle and suit a Natural origin character.

The Hulk isn't natural... he's very unnatural... um he got his powers from gamma radiation which instantly falls into the Science origin and he fits the intended design of Invuln and yeah obviously Super Strength much more than Willpower. In the comics it has been shown that Hulk's body is so tough it can survive planetscale JUMPS through space... and no matter how much "willpower" and training you have space will make your head asplode. Hulk = Invuln: THAT IS ALL.
  18. Dis thread is dum, yu cant be dat strong cuz yu cant do SIGHSMUCK SMASH. That's the strongest attakk nub.
  19. Honestly, when a Machamp uses "Cross Chop", I'm pretty sure anything on the receiving end should have it's neck broken in 3 places, but the fun of CoH and Pokemon is that you can use brutal deadly attacks with only a simple knock out as the result... death is scary gais. The actual most brutal attack in this game is Char... Have you ever had burning ashes thrown down YOUR throat?
  20. Y'know, one of the reasons Seismic Smash is so AWSUMx7 is because you use both your hands for the attack. This is why the devs need to get to work on more arms for body types, that way when you make your spider hero with 6 arms and he does this attack... it becomes HEXADECASEISMO FACE OBLITERATOR, which inflicts terrible terrible damage. Naturally this will make attack chains very different, so it's tough to answer the question right now.

    DFB support AT?

I guess a lot of players know by now that it's not easy to kick a slacker in the DFB, so many just use that fact to their advantage.
Removing the ability of a Team Leader to kick by their own authority was a change brought on by the crying of the masses that only seems to benefit people AFKing and leeching, I used to lead leagues a lot specifically so I could kick the AFKers on I-trials because there were SO MANY people doing that. Now I don't even bother, I haven't seen the vote-kick go through once.
  22. Thanks for that chart, it makes me feel a bit more confident in the 1-2-1-3 attack chains my Defenders typically have. Like with Ice Blast, the similar chain is Ice Bolt - Ice Blast - Ice Bolt - Bitter Ice Blast, but Ice's tier2 Ice Blast is the worst DPA there and some people use filler attacks. Those debuff lengths on the chart are pretty cool honestly, knowing all this makes me want to roll a Sonic / Mental Blaster now.
  23. So for serious... the -Resist Debuffs in a Buff/Debuff set play by different (and INFERIOR) rules than the -Resist Debuffs in a Ranged Damage set? I'm glad to know this information now, thanks... although I feel a little put off by it. It makes me wonder if all you need to be the best -Resist debuffer is to roll a Kinetics / Sonic and stack Siphon Speed on top of a build with high recharge, and just Shriek - Scream chain an AV until it pukes blood.

  25. I have a FF-Beam Defender that I'm really enjoying. Running Maneuvers combined with Tough/Weave makes you rather tanky, and I went Agility Alpha for more Defense among the other useful bonuses it grants. I don't see why this build wouldn't work on a Corr, just remember that you will get noticeably lower numbers on Dispersion Bubble, Maneuvers, Tough, Weave, and your epic armor (I went Temp Invuln and my Defender has over 70% S/L Resist) and this will add up to your Corr being significantly squishier than my Defender. While I still recommend this combo I don't know if you can handle the same difficulties my Defender can on a Corr.

There's also the "potential" uselessness of the Force Field set when people already have soft capped Defenses, but I was more focused on solo on my Defender.
